Chapter 3:

Five more years had passed, yet the dog demon never faltered. Inuyasha knew he would wait as long as needed; they spoke few words over the years. It was apparent to Inuyasha that Sesshomaru was as loyal to Rin, as she was to him.

The first time they spoke Inuyasha had just started talking.

"My daughter was born this month. Kagome wanted to name her Rin, but I changed her mind. We settled on Torin instead." he muttered.

He didn't know why he told this to his brother but he just…did. He didn't expect Sesshomaru to respond but after several moments he did.

"Did you not tell her?" he uttered. Never looking away from the stars.

"No, I won't give her false hope." replied Inuyasha,

Sesshomaru's head tilted "You do not believe Rin will return."

Inuyasha sighed, "I think she will, but she won't be the woman we knew."

The second time they spoke Inuyasha asked a question.

"Do you believe she will return?" Inuyasha whispers.

This time Sesshomaru gazed at his brother, he saw the sadness in his eyes, "I do."

Inuyasha only nodded.

It was late at night when Sesshomaru heard it.

He was on his feet in an instant when he saw it. Three masked figures standing in a row looking around, they hadn't noticed Sesshomaru's presence yet and he watched silently. An oval portal was behind them, it was pitch black. They're smell was off, but they appeared in humanoid forms.

Everything afterwards happened very quickly, another one dressed in all black appeared behind them. Red daggers in their left and right hand, quickly as they appeared this person began killing them all. Sneaking up behind the one, snapping the firsts neck and throwing it back threw the dark portal.

Next, they became almost completely invisible and slashed the throat of the second, kicking them hard back through the ominous portal.

The third tried to run but the dark clothed assassin was faster, they struggled there in the dark. Fighting roughly, every time one hit the other it sounded like a loud crack, but they never stopped trying to kill each other.

The assassin got stabbed in the stomach by the third opponent and fell onto one knee.

"You're a traitor. Imagine what our Lord will do to you when you bow to his feet" The voice sounded gargled, unlike any sound Sesshomaru had heard in his many years of travel.

The assassin with a dagger embedded in their stomach, got up and laughed coldly.

Faster than Sesshomaru's eyes could follow, the assassin removed the dagger from its stomach and began repeatedly jabbing it into the third figure. The third figure spat out blood and staggered back.

"I bow to one Lord and it's not him."

The figure screeched and lunged with it claws extended, "You vile -"

The assassin caught its wrists and immediately crushed them both, forcing them to fold grotesquely inward.

The figure began that vile screeching again and fell to its knees cradling both mangled wrists to its chest.

The assassin grabbed the figure by its throat and squeezed its windpipes, stopping the horrid sound.

In a pained voice she spoke, "Let your master know that he cannot have this world. Tell him if he steps foot into this world, I will kill every woman, child, and soldier. I will burn his entire world to the ground."

The assassin then threw the third figure back into the portal.

Dropping down to its knees and holding the gaping wound, she took something from her pocket and crushed it repeatedly with her fist. The portal vanished, appearing to close in on itself.

All the while screaming and what seemed to be…crying.

Sesshomaru jumped down but the hunched over woman continued to cry and beat her fist bloody.

Then he heard her mumble, "Sesshomaru…"

Unaware of his presence he stayed quiet. The Lord was frozen beyond belief, he waited eight years for her to return and didn't know what to make of the women in front of him.

Pulling the black face covering off her face and long gray hair fell around the woman's head.

He watched her go rigid, finally noticing her audience. The woman hastily grabbed the dagger and lunged at him. He caught her wrist, and the dagger remained inches from his shoulder. Sesshomaru's other arm was around her waist, her feet dangling off other ground. He caught her small statue mid attack, her face contorted into one of anger before she realized who had caught her.

Looking into his golden eyes in awe, her face was streaked with tears pouring from her chocolate-colored eyes. Besides her hair and scent, Rin hadn't aged a day since he'd seen her last.

The dagger dropped from her hand, and she gave him the most beautiful smile. This was his Rin but not. The woman's eyes began to shut as she blacked out, going limp in his hold.

Blue blood spilled out of her wound on her stomach, staining his white kimono. Using his demon powers, he vanished and materialized outside of Inuyasha door, clutching Rin to him tightly. Inuyasha immediately got up and stared from Sesshomaru to the woman in his arms.

He turned inside and yelled, "Kagome! We need help"

He turned to Sesshomaru and spoke quickly, "Put her down on that mat! Stay by her."

Sesshomaru did what he asked, and Kagome came rushing in her nightgown. She gasps and immediately sets down her supplies.

Inuyasha was by her side instantly.

Kagome with shaking hands, "I'll need to cut off her top. Perha-"

Inuyasha cut her off before Sesshomaru had a chance, "He stays, now let's help her."

Kagome cut the top down the middle and exposed her stomach and chest. Luckily, Rin had wraps around her breast to retain some modesty.

She gasps as tears collect in her eyes, as she took in the state of her body. It looked as if she had gone through a war zone. Her body was covered in scars from previous wounds ranging in severity.

Sesshomaru growled from where he sat but never looked away from her, Inuyasha turned away from the scars and held his head in his hands.

Kagome knew she didn't have time to think of this and forced herself to focus on the fresh wound and after discovering it wasn't a type of poison, Kagome stared in astonishment at the blue blood.

Pushing that thought away for a later date, she began to clean and pack the wound. It was deep but it hit nothing vital. Kagome almost cried out in relief, she couldn't imagine getting Rin back and then losing her all over again.

Kagome tried to lift her but surprisingly Sesshomaru stepped in. Holding up her upper body, allowing Kagome to easily wrap the bandage around Rin's waist.

Once everything was done and Rin was stable Kagome could only stare at the woman in front of her with a mix of emotion. For starters, Rin looked very different. Light gray hair was the first she noticed, it looked almost like Kaedes but much lighter and evenly toned. It was long too, some of the strands coated with blue blood by her waist.

She has noticeable muscle definition, not excessive but she has a combative body. Toned abdominal muscles and even when relaxed she had noticeable arm muscles. Scars traveled all over her like a vine, but they didn't have excessive scar tissue except on her shoulder, they look more like straight cuts.

Rin's outfit was all black, even the bandage holding her breasts was black and her skin was very pale. Even while resting, her face contorted into a frown.

Kagome looked around and noticed that Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were doing the same. Oddly enough they both turned to each other with a look of understanding but it lasted only second.

Kagome shakingly got to her feet, "What is going on?"

Inuyasha pulled her outside, leaving Sesshomaru and Rin alone as he explained what he'd learned years back. Kagome slapped him so hard his head snapped to the other side. Then she proceeded to pull him into a tight embrace.

With her face buried in his chest she sobbed, "You kept this from me and although I understand why it doesn't alleviate my anger. Yet, I'm so happy she's returned."

Inuyasha pulled her closer to him and rested his chin on her head, "I'm sorry."

It would be hours later before the tears of joy and sadness finally stopped flowing from Kagome's eyes. .
