Chapter 36

Dawn of the Ultimate Battle

The day before, on the first day of Piccolo and Kakarot's time in the Room of Spirit and Time, they had just closed the door behind them and now we're getting their first real look at the inside of the Room of Spirit and Time. The first thing they see upon entering the room is the pure white void that peeks out of the front of the building they find themselves in. Piccolo was shocked by the sight of it, just a pure white void with a smooth, white floor expanding as far as the eye can see. At floor level there was a thin white mist hovering slightly above the floor.

They stood in a uniquely designed building with a clock above the entrance. It has an open entrance with no doors, simply two pillars with guard rails aligned at its outer section. It has two separate rectangular rooms one being a kitchen/pantry and the other a bedroom with a bathroom. Outside the chamber was a declining ramp and to its sides are two large hourglasses with green sand slowly filling it from top to bottom. It was taller than the main structure, lastly there was a pillar next to each hourglass only a little over half its size.

After gaining his composure back Kakarot says, "I had a similar look when I was given a peek."

Kakarot went on to say, "Inside the room the gravity is barely different from Earth but from what Kami told us, outside it's ten times stronger than normal."

Piccolo, while straightening his back, says with a frown, "Just looking into that void was a mental exercise. I see why Kami was so cautious."

Kakarot went on to review their recourse, noting they have a medium sized pantry. Kakarot then said while putting a hand to his chin, "Kami said the pantry would automatically get restocked over time so food won't be a problem."

Piccolo crosses his arm and says in a neutral tone, "That's fine, I only need water to survive anyway."

Kakarot raised an eyebrow before saying, "That must be a Namekian thing."

Piccolo looked his way for a moment before looking away while hesitantly asking, "Well… since you mentioned them, how do you know my… people?"

Kakarot thinks about it for a moment before saying, "If you're askin' if we ever invaded your homeworld then don't worry. We've seen them as nomads, poppin' up on multiple worlds in small numbers."

Kakarot then shrugged and said, "Fact is Freeza hasn't voiced an interest in their world. I'm pretty sure we have its location but apparently it was nearly wiped out by bad weather. It's at the outskirts of his territory but the profit from it ain't worth all the expenses to get there and build on it."

Kakarot then said, "I know when I fought em' they were great warriors."

Kakarot then points at Piccolo and says, "You're a big example, usually their Power Level was around 2,300. Your power is impressive considerin' how peaceful this planet is."

Piccolo looks at him and says, "It wasn't such a peaceful world so long ago. While my memory is foggy of my time as being part of Kami, I remember enough to know why I was born."

Piccolo turns toward Kakarot and sees he's paying attention. He took this as Kakarot wanting to know more so he began to explain further, "Many years ago, during the Original Namekians' childhood he endured a great many wars between humans. These wars corrupted his values over time. Now that I think about it, the last time humanity caused trouble for itself was when the Red Ribbon Army was still around, though it was your Turtle School friends who put them down."

Kakarot grew curious at the mention of this army, he heard about it from Roshi and so he asked, "How do you know about this Red Ribbon Army? During their time you shouldn't have been born and the original Piccolo was sealed inside an electric rice cooker."

Piccolo let out an annoyed heave before begrudgingly saying, "When my father had taken control of this planet before I was born, he discovered their fate when he was trying to recruit them."

Kakarot raised an eyebrow and asked, "Recruit them?"

Piccolo explained further, "At the time my Father had gained a victory over the Turtle School and had taken control of the Earth's Kingdom. He outlawed law and order; he began to free prisoners and other lawless factions."

Piccolo then said, "He heard the Red Ribbon was a strong faction but when he attempted to find them, he learned of their destruction."

Kakarot crossed his arms while leaning against a wall, "All I heard about them was how they were destroyed. Roshi wasn't much for details after that."

Piccolo said in response, "My father learned a great deal while trying to find out if there were any survivors. According to Father they tried to reform but there wasn't a suitable leader to unite them. They were so busy fighting amongst themselves for that role that when the Earth's kingdom's military started picking them off they were too divided to put up a fight. They disbanded soon after, Father didn't care much for them after learning that much."

Kakarot raised an eyebrow and asked, "How do ya' know all of this? From what Roshi said your "birth" was right before he died. You weren't around to learn all of this, were you?"

Piccolo let out a sigh, not caring for all of this explanation but continued just to humor Kakarot, "I am Demon King Piccolo Reincarnated, I'm not just his spitting image, I inherited his memories as well. I remember every detail of his life, that is why I knew the Turtle School students were my enemies and how I perfectly remember my history with Kami and share in the original's hatred for him."

It makes sense to Kakarot but something about how Piccolo talks about him is contradictory. The fact he calls him "Father" brings a question to mind. Kakarot asks, "You call him your "Father" but ya' also call yourself his Reincarnation. How can you call him your father and at the same time refer to yourself as him, reincarnated?"

Piccolo gives him a confused look, clearly not expecting that little contradiction to be called out. Piccolo attempts to suppress the confused look on his face as he attempts to answer him, "That's… complicated. He is without a doubt my father, he made me and yet I have his memories, I see his enemies as my enemies. Those who hate him, hate me. His crimes became my crimes, and his ambitions became mine. So much of him was carried over to me, we're the same person. There's no denying that."

Kakarot smiled at Piccolo's confused expression which earned him a glare. Kakarot didn't hesitate, instead he said, "You did inherit a lot, sure my fellow Students grew to despise you in the same way as you despised them. They hated the old Piccolo; they thought you were the same but you're wrong about somethin' there."

Piccolo gave him a bewildered expression after which he spoke in a slightly raised voice, "Wrong? What the hell are you talking about?"

Kakarot looked Piccolo in the eye and said, "The old Piccolo was pure evil. He wanted to blow up cities annually just to spread panic and disorder."

Kakarot then pointed a finger at Piccolo and said, "You on the other hand don't care about the chaos or the mayhem. You just wanted ta' prove you're the best, conquering the world was your father's goal, not yours."

Kakarot closed his eyes, crossed his arms and let out a short chuckle before wryly saying, "Heh, it was just a convenient excuse to go around 'n fight your father's enemies."

Right then Kakarot quickly leaned his head to the right, narrowly dodging a punch from Piccolo. Kakarot at the same time grabbed a hold of Piccolo's outstretched wrist, keeping it in one place. Kakarot opened his eyes, meeting eyes with Piccolo's glare. Kakarot continued, ignoring the deadly look in Piccolo's eyes, "I'm sure at first you were all about avenging your father and taking back the planet he conquered but that changed a long time ago, didn't it?"

Kakarot waited for an answer but was only met with silence. Piccolo's glare turned into a simple stare and soon after Kakarot let go of his wrist. After that Piccolo retracted his fist and let out an exasperated sigh before saying, "Enough of this nonsense, we're wasting time."

Piccolo exited the Chamber and walked out into the white field. Kakarot smirked and nodded before following after him. They immediately felt the full weight of the gravity of this dimension but were still able to move freely. They faced each other, got into fighting stances and began their training in earnest.

Krillin and the others arrive at some green mountainous plains. It stretched out farther than the eye could see. It was a wide-open area and there wasn't a single person or animal in sight. This should act as a good battleground with plenty of space to use their more powerful attack. The benefit of no civilians being around meant they wouldn't have to be too careful with their shots.

Krillin says, "This is a good spot."

They all landed and began to mentally prepare themselves for the battle ahead. Admittedly they didn't have much time to do that since the Saiyans were approaching them at an amazing speed. Tien began doing arm stretch exercise while Krillin loosened his neck by slowly spinning it around. Chichi was gathering her resolve by hyping herself up with some self-directed encouragement.

Right then they felt it, the three Saiyans Ki got closer and closer until they finally saw them. They were floating in the air several meters above them, looking down at them.

Chiaotzu gulped out of anxiety while Tien muttered, "And here I thought I got used to such massive Ki."

Krillin added to that statement, "Do you feel that malice? Even when we fought Kakarot a year ago it wasn't this unnerving."

Above them Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz look down on them with a mix of expressions. Vegeta gave them a wry grin while Nappa had a cocky smirk. Lastly Raditz frowned at them, immediately recognizing more than half of them. Nappa said in a triumphant voice, "I don't see Kakarot anywhere."

Raditz let out a sigh of relief, clearly happy that his brother isn't among them. Vegeta ignored Nappa's comment and instead directed his voice toward Raditz, "Do you recognize any of them?"

Raditz nodded and said, "The monk, the triclops and the triclops' tiny friend were among the ones who killed me."

Raditz scowled deeper, he then spoke with venom in his words, "There was one with a scar on his face and long hair, he's missing. The Namekian is gone too, he's the one who killed me."

Raditz's voice lost some of its hostility as he stated, "The woman is a new addition, I don't know her."

Nappa scoffed as he said with disdain in his voice, "Bah, those cowards must have run off."

Vegeta then stated aloud with a displeased frown, "That's trouble, the Namek is sure to know more about the Dragon Balls than any of these insects."

Raditz knitted his eyebrows and said, "If Kakarot isn't here, where could he be? All the strongest Power Levels are here."

A dark thought crosses his mind that he himself doubted but he couldn't stop himself from muttering, "Could they have… killed him?"

A deep regret seeps into his mind as he considers that warning him might have led to the earthlings to learn about their coming and turning on him. His dark thoughts are swiftly interrupted when Nappa smacks the back of Raditz's head. Raditz winces from the pain while rubbing the back of his now sore head.

Raditz looked at him with a bewildered look when Nappa slightly raised his voice to berate him, "Don't be stupid, you already said he could hide his Power Level. No way these piles of trash could do him in!"

Nappa then lowers his voice as he begins to calm down, "He's probably just busy preparing something to make up for his blunder."

Raditz thinks about it and smiles before saying, "I guess you're right."

He, however, was feigning relief, he was certain that Kakarot wasn't the type of person to prepare gifts in order to make up for his mistakes. He was far too stubborn and far too proud a person to do that. Raditz knew it was wishful thinking on Nappa's end, but he chose not to say anything. Cutting the thought of Vegeta said, "Enough speculation, we'll question the earthlings instead."

The Saiyans float down to the Earthlings, landing two meters away from them. Vegeta grinned at them wearing a confident expression while Nappa gave them a cruel looking smirk. Lastly Raditz scowled at them, matching the serious glares the earthlings in front of him were aiming their way. Krillin made eye contact with Raditz which is when he muttered, "Of course he's back."

Raditz paid him no mind, but Chichi noticed Raditz and whispered to Krillin, "Is that man Kakarot's brother?"

Krillin nodded in response after which Chichi looked at Raditz again, examining his features. She thought to herself, "He does vaguely look like him."

Raditz was the first to break the silence, "You're missing a few, where's the Namek and the man with a scar?"

Krillin let out a frustrated grunt before saying, "Don't you worry, they'll be here soon."

Nappa let out a short laugh and said, "Ha, yeah right! If they wanted to be here, they would be here already."

Nappa then said while placing his hand in front of him, palm upward before giving them an "over here" motion, "Now spill the beans about these "Dragon Balls". We might even make your suffering short if you cooperate."

Vegeta snickers at this line of thought, finding the idea amusing. Krillin scoffs while Tien lets out a low growl of frustration before quietly muttering, "Guess Kakarot was telling the truth."

Krillin knew they would know about the Dragon Balls and at least a vague understanding of how to use them. That was fine but he wasn't happy to hear they knew about Piccolo and his importance to the balls. Krillin figured that was the consequence of letting Raditz be revived. He may have lost their previous fight but that didn't mean he would forget who he saw that day. The dots are easy to connect from there.

Krillin makes an admittedly futile attempt to counter the information they had, "Why do you think Piccolo would know anything?"

Vegeta let out a short laugh before looking at Krillin and saying, "Don't play coy with me. There have been rumors spread about Namekian's possessing mystical powers and strange abilities. It doesn't take a genius to make a connection with them and these wish granting orbs you hope to hide from us."

Vegeta then slightly tilted his head to the right before saying, "We just don't know how connected he is with them. We'll find out more once we bring him to heel."

In response to that declaration of their intentions Tien yelled, "Piccolo is our backup but his company is sure to surprise you!"

Each Saiyan looks at him with a mix of uncertainty and confusion at this statement. Raditz is the first to ask while giving them a sharp glare, "What do you mean by that?"

Tien gives them a confident smile and says with satisfaction echoing in his voice, "It shouldn't be that hard a guess, I'm sure you've taken notice that someone very important to you is missing."

Their eyes widen in surprise, which is followed by Raditz growling angrily at the heavy hint. Nappa gives them an annoyed look and Vegeta smiles out of satisfaction. This is when Chichi makes the declaration official, "I'll save you the trouble of guessing. Kakarot has sided with the Earth, as far as you're concerned, he's an earthling now."

Raditz's face turns pale upon hearing the truth while Nappa gives them a furious look. Nappa is in the middle of saying, "You condescending little-"

Nappa was about to finish his threat when Vegeta suddenly let out a sound of revelation, "Ah, I recognize this voice."

Chichi gives Vegeta a confused look and at the same time Krillin scowls deeper, he gets the horrible feeling he will dislike what Vegeta was about to say. Vegeta let out a short laugh and said, "You're the woman who spoke to Kakarot when he made his wish."

Krillin mentally said, "Damn it, he recognizes her voice! This is bad. What if they start targeting her?"

Krillin considers trying to convince her to retreat but second guesses himself. He shakes the thought away and thinks to himself, "It's too late now, they've already identified her as someone important to Kakarot. There's no way they would just let her leave at this point. At best they would want her for information but at worst they would want to hurt her to spite Kakarot."

No matter what Krillin doesn't see them being able to get her out safely. They're too strong to worry about getting one of their own out. It was pointless regardless, at this point if she gets away but they lose then they'll get her eventually. Krillin couldn't discount the possibility of her flying into a rage after they got killed and came right to them. Right then Tien speaks telepathically to Krillin, "What should we do Krillin? Do you want me to try and get her out of here?"

Krillin thinks for a moment before mentally saying, "No, just back her up if she gets in a tight spot. They'd try to stop us if we tried and I'm not sure we'd come out unscathed."

Krillin paused for one more moment before mentally saying, "Besides, she has just as much a right to be here as any of us. If we lose, she'll be in danger regardless."

Tien gives him a nod in confirmation after which Vegeta says with joy in his voice, his arms wide to emphasize his mood, "Congratulations earth woman, you've proven yourself useful. We'll avoid killing you outright… that is until you tell us what you know about these "Dragon Balls"."

Chichi grits her teeth angrily and gets in a slightly lower stance before yelling, "Go ahead and try it you scum!"

Vegeta let out an amused chuckle, this is when Nappa finally said with bitterness in his voice, "Damn it, I can't believe it. He really did betray us!"

Vegeta simply said, "We can deal with him later, for now let's entertain ourselves with these weaklings."

Nappa said with a smile, "Right, I need to let off some steam anyway."

Nappa presses a button on his Scouter but then frowns as his gaze drifts over Krillin and the others. In a dejected tone Nappa says, "What? 500? 350? They can't be this weak!"

Raditz slightly raises his voice, "Of course they aren't! Don't tell me you already forgot they can suppress their battle power, you're the one to suggest it earlier?"

Nappa gave him a surprised look before he rubbed the back of his head while letting out a hearty laugh. He then says, "Oh right, I forgot. That's how they surprised you, isn't it."

Raditz scowled at the memory after which he and the rest of his comrades turned off their Scouter and even removed them and setting them to the side, on the ground. Raditz then took a step forward when Vegeta suddenly said, "Hold off."

Raditz raised an eyebrow at him and said, "We agreed I would go first."

Vegeta scowled at him and said, "Don't get ahead of yourself, we shouldn't waste our strength."

Vegeta then smiled, looked at Nappa and said, "Nappa, plant the Saibamen!"

Nappa smiled and then peeled forward the front of his chest plate. He then pulled out a solid white container, after which he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a handful of green seeds. They all watch as he buries each individual seed in a number of half an inch hole made by a poke of his finger before covering them in dirt. After which he removed the cork to the container he held and poured two to three drops of a green, slimy liquid on top of each seed. When Nappa finished the container was empty, so he nonchalantly tossed it to his left.

Nappa and the rest took a couple steps back and after a few seconds the locations where the seeds were buried began to show movement. Something green began to pop out of the ground, the strange green objects got bigger and bigger until the objects in question climbed out of the ground with clawed hands. By the time the objects turned out to be small green monsters everyone knew what was sprouting from the ground. Kakarot told them a great deal about the Saiyans, their tactics for invading worlds among other things.

One of the many things he briefed them on were the terrifyingly chaotic Saibamen. Six green Saibamen climb out of the ground giving everyone in front of them crazed expressions. They made gargled clicking sounds as they stared down their presumed targets. Instead of looking surprised or shocked, they all had mixed expressions of seriousness and caution. Nappa frowned at them and muttered, "Kakarot's been doing a lot of talking."

Vegeta let out a chuckle before saying, "He was quite observant, it doesn't matter! His loose lips will only make their deaths that much slower."

Vegeta kept an overconfident demeanor however inside important questions popped into his head, "Still, the fact he told them of the Saibaman is suspicious. Why give them such pertinent information? It's as if he prepared them for our arrival. How can that be? He shouldn't have known we were coming unless he somehow figured out I bugged the Scouter after making his wish."

Unable to come up with any concrete reason for this, he decided directing the Saibamen would be a better use of his time. Raditz suddenly verbally noted, "Six, It seems we have a little over double their number."

Nappa muttered in response, "I thought we had eight."

Raditz shook his head and did a waving motion while saying, "Not anymore, we lost two to that larger bug before we left."

Nappa let out an exclamation out of realization before saying, "Oh right, I remember tossing that thing out of orb when it tried to step on me."

Vegeta smiled eagerly as an idea came to him, he said, "This could be interesting."

Vegeta slightly raised his voice so the earthlings could hear him clearly, "We have double your number, how about we make a game out of this. Let's make this a tag battle, a two on two, for sport!"

Uncertain of what to do Tien consults with the others on if they should take them up on their offer. Tien links everyone in a single telepathic call. He says, "I don't like dancing to their toon, but this is a good way to stall them."

Krillin nodded and mentally said, "I agree, even if we can only buy ten minutes, we should take the chance!"

This is when Chichi said while glaring daggers at the Saiyans, "Fine I'll go first!"

Raditz looks toward Chichi, noting her spunk. Tien puts a hand on her shoulder and says, "Hold on Chichi, I think I should test the waters here. Just to be safe."

Chichi gives him a serious look and says, "Sorry Tien but I need to do this."

Chichi took a step forward which caused Tien's hand to slip off her shoulder. Chichi said while she stretched her arms, "They just see me as a target, I can't take that lyin' down."

Tien glances at Krillin who gives him a nod and says, "I'll join you, let's show them what the Turtle School can do."

Chichi smiles at him and bumps her left forearm with his while saying, "Right!"

Krillin mentally says, "Don't worry Tien, I'll keep an eye on her. You shouldn't worry too much. I've fought her before, from what I'm sensing she should be able to do more than just hold her own."

Raditz thinks to himself, "She has plenty of spunk. Vegeta mentioned her being with my brother, I wonder about that."

Chichi and Krillin step forward by several feet while the others take several steps back to give them space. Vegeta then sternly points at two Saibamen and then points at Krillin and Chichi, he tells them, "Those are your opponents."

Vegeta then gives the Saibamen a fierce glare as he speaks in a commanding tone, "You are not allowed to kill the woman, come even close and I'll make my displeasure known."

Despite the creature's seemingly lack of intelligence they understood Vegeta clearly. This was made evident with how they both nodded vigorously in response. Vegeta then said, "That also means she should be able to form coherent sentences by the end of the fight, don't disappoint me."

They nodded again after which they stepped forward ready to fight Krillin and Chichi who were five feet apart in their Turtle School fighting stances. Right then the two Saibaman dashed towards the two fighters splitting up. One went for Chichi and the other for Krillin. Both earthlings dashed toward them as well, with Krillin instantly landing the first blow.

Krillin landed a strong right hook to the monster's face, sending it flying. Chichi on the other hand, with a flurry of movement landed a barrage of spear hand strikes to the monster's face before giving a spinning kick to its ribs which pushes it by a foot to its left. After seeing this Raditz raised an eyebrow and said, "So she has the power to back up that attitude."

The injured Saibaman was stunned from the shot to its ribs. While it was busy clutching its injured side, Chichi delivered a strong kick to its face sending it flying ten feet away. Nappa scratches the back of his head in confusion, he then says, "What's going on here, the Saibamen should be much stronger than this."

Raditz with complete certainty says, "They are around my old level."

Vegeta then adds, "That obviously means even this woman is above them."

Vegeta frowns and thinks to himself, "This won't last long."

Right then both Saibamen get up but the one Chichi hits looks at her with angry eyes. It grits its teeth which is enough reason for Chichi to be wary of its next move. Krillin muttered, "I don't like the look of that."

Right then the top of the injured Saibaman's head begins to unfold right then Krillin prepares to dash toward Chichi but is cut off by the other Saibaman who leaps in front of him. Out of instinct Krillin dashes backwards as the Saibaman fires a ki blast. By the time Krillin deflected the Ki blast he realized it was too late. Right then a large stream of green acid spewed out of the injured Saibaman's split head.

Upon seeing it coming, Chichi's body froze, and her expression twisted in surprise and fear. A sense of terror overwhelmed her until Tien yelled, "Move!"

Chichi's nerve immediately returns, her expression sharpens, and she dashes to the left, narrowly avoiding the stream of acid. The Acid eats through the ground at an alarming rate leaving nothing but pitch-black ground where grass and dirt used to be. Chichi looked toward the injured Saibaman and despite feeling her legs shake she began to charge at him. However, Chichi stopped in her tracks when she saw a flash of light in front of her.

Before her very eyes the Saibaman is blown apart without warning. Chichi freezes as she stares at what remains of the now dead Saibaman, in shock at what she saw. This was her first real fight in a very long time, the one with Piccolo was years ago but by now it is a distant memory. Chichi had prepared herself as best she could, but the truth is she hasn't seen someone die in a very long time, and never so suddenly, or so gruesomely. It's like the thing just fell apart, like shattered glass. This death caused a break in the fighting as the surviving Saibaman flinched out of fear allowing Krillin to collect himself and gain some distance.

He looked over at the Saiyans and saw Vegeta with two fingers pointed at the now dead Saibaman with a scowl on his face. Raditz mentally said, "She's tough but it seems she doesn't have much experience with death matches."

Raditz then grimaced at the dead Saibaman while Nappa yelled out of surprise, "Wha-! Vegeta, why did ya do that?"

Vegeta scowled deeply as he folded his arms and spoke with animosity, "Punishment for disobedience, if that attack had landed, we would have lost valuable information. These things are as uncooperative as ever."

Vegeta let out an infuriated groan before looking toward the surviving Saibaman and barking an order, "Finish your fight."

Fully motivated the Saibaman wildly charges at Krillin who begins avoiding its strikes with a number of deflections and swift dodges while dashing throughout the battlefield. Everyone's eyes went from left to right to up as they tracked the ongoing fight. Chichi was the only one who was struggling, she had only recently learned this method of tracking her opponent. She understood how it worked and how to do it, she simply hadn't had as much experience as the others.

What you do is you focus on the Ki you're searching for while absorbing the whole scene in front of you with your eyes. After that you simply locate their Ki and soon enough, you're capable of following it much more easily.

Sick of being on the backfoot with the Saibaman's reckless swiping barrage but in response Krillin launches a fierce counterattack with the intention of finishing the fight by focusing on his specialty. Krillin dives to the ground with the Saibaman giving chase. Right before reaching the ground below Krillin turns around and sees that the Saibaman is a step away from him. Krillin lands while still facing backwards and then leaps back further. The Saibaman keeps chasing but isn't paying enough attention to their surroundings to realize what Krillin had planned.

Krillin was now dashing backwards where a large rock formation stood behind him. The Saibaman mistakenly thought it had cornered the Orin Temple Monk. Krillin reached the rock behind him and gave it a good kick, sending Krillin flying forward toward the Saibaman who was too close to react in time. Krillin delivered a good upside-down punch to the Saibaman's gut.

The green monster reeled back in pain while clutching its stomach. Krillin wasn't done and the Saibaman could do nothing to stop the three jabs which connected with its chest and jaw. Krillin then gave it an uppercut punch just below its chin sending it flying upward but right after that Krillin placed his hands on the ground and pushed himself upward landing a flying kick sending the Saibaman flying even higher.

Krillin quickly crouched down into what was similar to a sumo starter pose. He reeled his arms back and began to let out a low growl while charging an attack. A couple seconds later he looked up at the Saibaman who had just managed to stop its ascent and recover from the assault it just received. Right then Krillin yelled out while thrusting his arms toward the Saibaman. A clump of yellow Ki blasts was shot from his open palms and were now headed straight toward the Saibaman.

The Saibaman put its arms forward ready to push back against the blast however it did something unexpected. The blast split off and seemingly missed the Saibaman, confusing it. Chichi exclaimed in confusion, "It missed!?"

Raditz however disagreed, "No, they're avoiding it. What could he be planning?"

The blasts stopped their ascent, floating precariously above the Saibaman. Right then Krillin pulled his arms downward toward the ground at his feet. Suddenly the collection of floating Ki blasts moves again, only this time it's headed downward. They fly down toward the Saibaman but it notices too late and is soon hit by a barrage of Ki blasts which rocket it downward landing a meter away from Krillin creating a series of smaller explosions and creating a crater with a motionless Saibaman at the center of it.

Chichi exclaims, "Amazing!"

While Chiaotzu yelled victoriously saying, "You got em'!"

Tien said with a restrained yell, "Nice technique!"

Krillin approached the body, feeling for its Ki to determine if it was dead or not. Krillin sighed as he confirmed it was dead. After making this assessment Krillin looks back to see if Chichi was fine. He smiled upon seeing she was fine, he then spoke in a relieved voice, letting out an exhale, "She isn't even scratched, even I might have been underestimating her."

Right then Vegeta smiled and said, "Is she the only one you've been underestimating?"

Krillin looks at Vegeta with a look of hostility which is when he notices something that slipped his notice. It was so small, so miniscule that he only now took notice of it. Suddenly Chichi yelled frantically, "Krillin behind you!"

It's then that Krillin realizes what it was as the Saibaman leaps from its assumed grave toward Krillin. Krillin was feeling the Saibaman's Ki, it was so weak it slipped his notice. This was strange because Krillin was sure it didn't feel any Ki from it. This is when something Kakarot told him pertaining to the Saibamen came to mind.

Kakarot had told them they were good at playing dead, but he figured that wouldn't be a problem since Ki sensing should sniff it out. Obviously not but it was too late for Krillin to complain about his mistake. The Saibaman spread its arms forward while dashing toward Krillin. Krillin dashed backwards but the Saibaman had a head start so escape was impossible.

Krillin's world slowed to a crawl, memories of Gohan, of his fellow Turtle School students filled his head. In this time Krillin attempted to think of a way out of this, but nothing was doable. The Saibaman was too close and too fast for any sort of counter strike to connect or escape to be executed. Krillin wondered if this was checkmate.

It was a half inch from closing its arms around Krillin when a flash of red light invaded his senses. It was accompanied by a roaring sound and after a full second Krillin realized something had happened. He didn't feel the Saibaman's claws on him after which he noticed something. A familiar something and right when he realized what it was his eyes opened wide and he looked in front of him.

In front of him stood Yamcha with a fading red aura formally surrounding him. Under Yamcha's foot was the Saibaman which was trying its hardest to get up. Yamcha put enough strength to keep it pinned. Right then Yamcha said, "That was too close."

Yamcha then delivered a swift double palm strike to its head after which the Saibaman became motionless after making a cracking sound. Yamcha then took his foot off, bent down, grabbed the dead monster's leg and tossed it toward the other Saibamen and the Saiyans. Yamcha then said before tossing it, "I'm returning this!"

Yamcha then turned to Krillin and smiled brightly, "That was unlike you Krillin, you doin' okay?"

Krillin and everyone else happily yelled his name and he received their greetings.

Author's Notes: Alright, the fight has finally started. This will go somewhat similarly to the manga/anime, but I do have some big changes planned. We've already seen one of them, being Raditz's inclusion and a freshly trains Chichi's involvement. Hopefully I manage to do good with them considering their both big additions to this arc. Anyway, as usual, I encourage anyone who wants to, to leave a review talking about the chapter, especially on account of the changes. It would be nice to know what people think of the new stuff. Anyhow, in the next chapter we'll see how the Dragon Team handles the remaining Saibaman and maybe even the Saiyans. We'll also learn just how strong Yamcha has become.

Anyway, onto Power Levels:
