Chapter 1: "Angel Grove"

A Long Time Ago

A scene of carnage as a tropical environment was burning with the sky darkened. Roars and screeches from distant animals like Triceratopses and Pterodactyls. Volcanic ash raining down as a red figure is shown laying on the burnt ground, breathing heavily.

The red covered man begins crawling away just before an alien spaceship crashes behind him, kicking up dust and ash. He continues through a puddle and gets to a feminine figure dressed in a yellow version of his own suit.

She takes some kind of coin from her belt area and gives it to the red suited man, her suit dematerializing, revealing her alien appearance with yellowish and bluish skin.

"*I'm sorry, I'm sorry*", the red man apologize in an alien language as the female took her last breaths and died.

"*Alpha, I'm the last one left*", he says as he continues to crawl away, "*We must stop her. Send it to my coordinates*". He pulls a tree root up before taking a coin from his waist and his suit disappears to reveal a blue skinned man.

"*Seek only those who are worthy*", he says to five coins in his hands before putting them in the hole, "*Find only those who are strong*", with the coins sinking into the dirt before it seemed to glassify.

He then hears evil feminine laughter and looks up to see a woman wearing a black and red gown with gold trimming wielding a golden staff with a crescent top. Behind her were a golden armored beast faced man with wings, a bestial scientist, a demonic alchemist, and some hobgoblin-like minion.

"*With the Zeo Crystal, we could have ruled the universe together*", the woman said to her fallen adversary.

"*That was never going to happen*", He denies with a shake of his head.

"*Then you will die, Zordon*", she states with contempt.

"*We will leave together, Rita*", Zordon replies, before looking to the sky to see a meteor.

Rita and her followers cry out while Zordon dives over the coins as the meteor hits the near the area.

Zordon is consumed by the destruction while Rita and her cohorts are sucked into a hidden trap of a Containment Bin/Dumpster before it's launched into the nearby sea, falling deeper into it.

Zordon lay dying as the meteorite is revealed to be a giant glowing crystal.

A Long Time Later, early 2017 AD

A young man, with black hair and blue eyes, around 17 years old, arriving at school in the town known as Angel Grove.

This is Jason Todd, former Robin, killed by the Joker, resurrected by Talia al Ghul, now hiding from them all in this coastal township, living a normal life. He goes by Jason Lee Scott, keeping only his first name to remember his parents.

He's been living here for only a few months, though he's not the new kid anymore, he's still relatively friendless as he hasn't really socialized with any of his classmates. He is still really popular though due to his physique, friendly personality, and protecting the more weak willed classmates.

The most frequent he comes across is Farkas Bulkmeier and Eugene Skullovitch, more commonly known as Bulk and Skull. They weren't bad guys, just mean-spirited idiots. The duo recently pulled a stunt with leaving a bovine in a rival school's locker room. Rumor has it Skull milked said bovine, before Bulk informed him it was a bull and not a cow.

Jason decided to join them in detention to keep them in line, to which the oversiting teacher unknowingly agreed.

Jason just stopped by a water fountain and sees the former Queen Bee of Angel Grove High, Kimberly Ann Hart, who walks past him without a single acknowledgement he's there.

Jason enters the detention area and goes down the steps as Bulk and Skull call out, "Boo". Their little clique laughed before Jason replied with "MOO!", and other students laughed at the duo.

"That's funny", "You sure you're in the right place", "Big tough guy", some detentionees say as Jason passes by a dark skinned teenager with color pencils.

Said kid begins to rearrange his pencils, unknowing that Bulk and Skull were coming up behind him, "This one goes here, That one goes there, Primary colors go on this side, This one goes... ", he says before the duo push into him and knocks over some of the pencils onto the ground.

"Oh, I'm sorry", Bulk says, "here let me help you.", picking up one of the pencils and holds it out to it's owner.

The teen goes to grab it but Bulk pulls it back before he could. Jason quietly moves over to them.

"You're a freak. You know that", Bulk says to the teen, "We've watched you play with these for weeks. Are you crazy?", the teen shakes his head, "No? What if you had an extra one?", before he snaps the one in his hand in two.

"Freak", Skull echoes, as he and their clique laughed.

Kimberly sighes after to the side at their antics.

"Why don't you cut little act and do something?", Bulk continued, "Why don't you stop me? Huh? Are you gonna stop...", before he is pushed into Skull by Jason, with some students exclaiming by the action

"Hey" he says, "How are you, Bulk? Five? It's my first time here at this school and I got to say it's exciting", all of the students eyes were on him with the teacher was nowhere in sight, "Trying to be bullies of detention? How dumb can you two be?"

Bulk goes for a jab at Jason's face that he easily dodges, along with another swing from Bulk that is also avoided. Bulk wheezes as he stands straight but Jason then slaps him across his face

"Oh" everyone groans out, with the bullied kid wincing. Some others holding back smiles and laughs.

Bulk shakes it off and looks to Jason in disbelief, "Did you just slap me?"

"I did", Jason replied, "Weird how slaps are better for long terms as they don't leave bruises. Now I'm everyday because I have nothing better to do while you two are trapped here till graduation because of all the stupid stunts you pull. So let's make a deal..." before walking closer to the duo, "you sit quietly and leave me... and him alone, and we'll be okay". They then hear the doors, signaling the teacher's arrival with the students rushing into their seats while Kimberly gets a text message.

"Okay", the teacher starts as he goes down the steps, "So, approved homework, or working on the Better Choices workbook".

"I need to goes to the ladies' room", Kimberly says as passes by the teacher and heads up the stairs

"Uh... Okay. And good morning.", he quietly replies out of her earshot.

A little while later, Jason sits quietly as he does his homework before the doors open again and Kimberly came back.

Many students start whooping and hollering as she had cut her hair. "Damn, girl!" one of the female students says.

Kimberly had her once long dark brown locks cut into a messy style ending just above her shoulders. She tried to fight a smile at the comments and cheering. Jason had to admit she looked go with this style.

She sits down before exchanging eye contact with Jason.

Later

Detention ends and the teens rush. Kimberly parents freaking out over Kimberly's new hair style.

Jason begins walking down the steps out of school when the dark skinned teen Bulk and Skull bullied came through the door "Hey! Door!", causing Jason to look at him and the teen looked to him also.

"Hey, thanks for that in there!", he says to Jason as he rushes the steps to be with him.

"No, worries", Jason waved it off, "I stuff like that", and continues down the steps

"Yeah", he says before following Jason down, "Oh... So, hey, we should hang out sometime,."

"huh?" Jason says.

"Not that we have to.", the teen continues, "but I think tonight we should."

"And what's your name again?", Jason asked.

"Oh, huh, Billy", he replies with his hand hand out and Jason shakes it, "Billy Cranston. Or William Cranston".

Jason smiles at his ernesty as Billy continues, "i remember when kids called me 'Billy-Crams-Tons' as a third grade joke? Like Billy crams tons of crayons in his butt, which I didn't. But it's rethe buttally impossible to cram tons of crayons up a butt. No, no. I should have said that." Billy goes to do another tangent but Jason stopped him.

"Billy, I would love to hang out but I might be busy so I don't know", Jason says before heading down to his car.

"Wait, no, no, no. Don't leave leave, don't leave, hey." Billy goes before Jason turns back to him "I don't really expect for us to hang out. Truth is a i need to get somewhere tonight, and I could really use your help."

"Billy, I hear you, but my car isn't in the best condition to make it home let alone take you anywhere later, that's why I may be to busy.", Jason replies.

" Well I have access to a car and tools to help fix your car if you don't have a mechanic", Billy says.

Even Later, Where Jason Lives

Jason grabs some food from the fridge and looks to his housemate, Ernie. He runs a multi-age smoothie and juice bar out of a youth center that Jason works at part time.

"Hey kid, I got someone who will fix your car up for you for cheap" Ernie informs Jason.

"Really? Thanks Ernie", Jason says.

"Yeah", Ernie nods with a smile, 'I'll be staying here for the rest of the night, so I can keep on eye on it if you want to head out".

"Thanks man, I was just about to ask that", Jason says before finishing his food and heading out on his bike.

He rides through town and makes it to Billy's address that he gave. Jason knocks on the door with a woman opening it who Jason believes to be Billy's mother.

"OH, hello, Miss...", she raises an eyebrow, "...us...", she nods, "Cranston. I'm a new friend of Billy's he asked me to come by", Jason says.

"Oh, over there, down the stairs into the basement", she replied.

"Billy", Jason calls out as he rushes down into the basement to see Billy surrounded by a variety of tech, quite a bit of it being scrap.

"Yes?", Billy replies, "oh you're here".

"What's all this stuff?", Jason asks

"it's object I found with my dad. Most of it his", Billy replied.

"Oh", Jason mutters while looking around.

"My dad's been dead now seven years, four months, and two days?", Billy informs

"Uh", Jason mutters, not sure how to reply.

"That's a long time", Billy continues, "He used to work at the mine. We used to go find objects together. Some really, really old. Almost like that show, American Pickers. We could have had our own tv show, that would have been so crazy.", Billy tangents again.

"Billy!", Jason says while putting his hands onto the other teens shoulders, "didn't you say you need to be somewhere?"

"Yeah, huh. Can you take your hands off me now?", Billy says, and they leave.

They are then driving the old Cranston minivan that they haven't really used since his father's death so Jason can take Billy to the old mine.

"My mom doesn't want me here but it cool your taking me", Billy says.

"Well we're friends now and I have nothing better to do.", Jason replies, "How much further?"

"At this speed, just 44 minutes and 52 seconds", Billy replies while looking at his watch.

Jason chuckles, "Uh.. Okay".

"Thank you for helping me today", Billy thanks him.

"That's okay, Billy", Jason replies.

They soon pull up to a fence, "Okay this is the entrance to the gold mine, Billy, and that sign over there clearly says.. " Jason says while pointing to signs about trespassing.

"Keep driving", Billy says wile nodding.

"Okay", Jason mutters before continuing into the mine.

As they drive through, Billy says, "If we find something cool, then you can keep half. It's a rule me and my dad made".

"Thanks, Billy", before they stop.

The duo then take some trunk out and head down, deeper into the quarry.

"They're going to blow this whole thing.", Billy grunted out as they carried the trunk, "It'll all be gone in a week"

"Billy can I be honest.", Jason says, "This isn't what I expected to be doing this evening, and we don't even know each other at all. i don't know what we're doing here".

"Wait, i need to say something", Billy says, "I'm on the spectrum"

"What, like a workout routine", Jason jokes, "kidding, just a joke. I know you mean autism".

"See, i didn't get that that was a joke.", Billy continues, "my brain works differently than yours does, you know?"

"Consider that a good thing", Jason says, remembering all of his trauma.

"It's just I can't read humor or sarcasm.", Billy says, "well we're almost there so you can take my spare flashlight and wonder around", opening the trunk and handing it to Jason.

Jason sighs before saluting with the flashlight and walking away, "Bye, Billy".

He looks off to the dusk of the sky and sees a fire next to train with some guy lounging on it with binoculars.

He looks further around to see what appears to be a girl around their age doing yoga on a rocky incline overlooking the quarry.

He then hears some music playing as the sky darkens and begins to follow it.

Jason sees Kimberly stripping down to her undergarments next to a little lake before she does a backwards dive into the water from the cliffside.

"Damn", Jason says with a smile, but doesn't see her come back up, "Hey? Hey!", before running down to the water's edge.

He looks into the water, "Kimberly?! Kimberly!", he takes off his jacket a goes to dive after her.

"It's strange to hear you say my name", she says as she grabs her towel. Jason looks over to her, "What?"

"It's strange to hear you say my name.", she repeated, "You know? Like we know each other", wrapping the towel around her.

"Well we go to school together and know of each other", Jason says, "How you dated Ty Fleming and punched his tooth out".

Unbeknownst to the four other teens, Billy was pulling out wires and charges from the trunk, putting them in holes in the cliffside of the quarry.

"Dad, I hope you're watching.", he sas, "I'm going to make you proud", unraveling the wires and walking away from the rock wall, Dad, I forgot to tell you, I took the van without Mom's permission. Well, I'm telling you, so I think that's okay. ugh, I got to focus", continuing to rush around.

Kimberly had redressed herself and was walking to the quarry with Jason, "So what are you doing up here? Did you follow me?", she asked.

"Hah, no, I came with Billy", Jason says.

"Billy Cranston? Weird", she says, "but I've seen him up here before. My house is on the other side of the mountain. I hike these trails sometimes to clear my head. And I stare down at Angel Grove and wonder how this crap town can cause me such misery"

Jason chuckles.

"That funny to you?", Kimberly questions.

"It's the world really", Jason replies

"The world's crap?" she inquires.

"No, at least half the people on it are", Jason continues

Billy has now connected the wires to the switch and twisted the key to activate it, flipping the protective cover of the switch, "Dad, get ready".

He flips the switch but nothing happens, he flips it repeatedly, "that didn't work", he looks at the wires before pushing one of them further into the device before the cliffside explodes and Billy is sent flying back.

Jason and Kimberly hear the boom and Billy's scream. They rush to him.

"That really rung my bell", Billy says as the dup close in on him. "Go, go, go", Kimberly says

"Hey", the asian teen from the train says as he lands by Billy as he gets up, "What are you doing dude?"

"I been digging up here for some years", Billy replies.

"Hey!", Jason says as he gets between the two, "Easy, let's sort this out, huh?"

"I seen him up here before", the teen says to Jason while pointing at Billy.

"Hey, Jason", Billy says, shaking a little from the explosion.

"Dude cannot be walking around blowing stuff up!", the teen exclaimed to the trio.

"I was just trying to dig a little deeper!", Billy loudly says, a little tone deaf from the boom, "Maybe I dug to deep, huh?!"

"Billy, you don't have to be so loud. We can hear you", Jason tells him.

"Okay!", Billy replies

"Hey", a voice call put from above to reveal the yoga girl from earlier, "You guys looking to get busted or something! This place is a restricted area!"

"Oh really Einstein. Restricted? As in we shouldn't be standing on top of crazy rocks doing Karate Kid", the asian replies.

"Or yelling", Jason comments, while Billy closes in on the destroyed rock face.

"Uh, guys.." Billy says as he hears a rumbling sound

"Yeah, or camping out on old trains", he replies to the asian teen, "I see you to".

"Uh, Guys...", Billy calls out as the rumbling continues.

"There's alot of mine security out tonight", yoga girl says down to them.

"Who is she?" Kimberly asks.

"I don't know", Jason replies, "New girl?"

Billy puts his hand on the rumbling cliffside before it cracks, "Oh, no" and runs away.

The cracked cliff falls, taking the girl with it, "Whoa, ahh!".

Jason catches her as the wall falls and the dust is kicked up. Everyone groaning and coughing.

"Everyone okay?", Jason asked with only Kimberly replying with a "Yeah, Yeah, I'm good".

Jason looks to the girl he caught, "You good?", she nodded a yes.

"Whoa", Billy says while looking to the collapsed cliff, seeing a massive obsidian-like spot, "What is that?".

The five looked into the wall, with some of them using flashlights or phone flashlights.

"I've never seen glass like this", Billy says as the five walk up to the wall. Thunder rumbles in the distance.

"What is that?", Jason says, seeing something.

"There's something in there", Kimberly says

The asian sees and grabs a little hammer with a pike side and goes to hit it, "Move. All right, watch out, watch out", and begins chipping away at it. The others go to stop him but he knocks one of the things out.

Kimberly goes to pick this one up and reveals a pink crystal and gold coin. Hammering away, four more fell out with Billy worrying they may break them. Jason grabbed the red one, Billy the blue, the asian grabbed the black, Kimberly had the pink, and yoga girl got the yellow. They seemed to glow in the light.

"What is that", yoga girl asked.

"Yo, look, we all found these.", the asian says, "If they're worth any money..."

"No, he found them", Jason says, referring to Billy, "now chill out".

"Chill out?", he comments back

"Guys, Guys", Kimberly says, "Do you hear that?"

They just now realized that the mine's alarm was blaring.

"Mine Security. Peace", the asian said before booking it.

"Somebody should have pointed that out", yoga girl states, "Wait, I did", before she also runs.

"Billy" Jason says before dragging him along to run.

"Okay, okay", Billy says as they all ran

"Run!", Jason says, "Billy, Just run to the car. Come on! Billy let's go!"

"I'm coming", he replies as they close in on the minivan. The car alarm blares when Jason opens the door but he stops. Billy tries to open the passenger door but it's still locked.

Jason unlocks it as Billy says, "Open the door! Open the door!", before hopping in and the duo speed off.

"Okay, what about the others? Are you going to leave the others?, Billy asks as he secures his safety belt.

"Hold on", Jason replies before making a sharp turn.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Jason!", Billy calls out before Jason drives through a fence gate.

He drives as a mine security truck now follows with it's sirens blaring. Billy screams as Jason drifts and turns on the dirt road.

"Oh, my mom's gonna kill me", he comments, "somebody's going to die".

Jason drives to two approaching security motorcyclist who separate as they close in allowing them to past.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!", Billy exclaims, "Whooa!".

Jason turns and sees the two girls running, "their they are, up the hill".

"Get 'em", Billy replies.

"Alright, you drive", Jason says before pushing the seat back to climb over.

"No, no. I really don't drive", Billy remarks but begins to get into the driver's seat anyway, taking control of the wheel

"Okay, then really don't drive, so I can pull them in through the side door", Jason says now in the back.

The minivan shakes as they switch and Billy drives.

"Why does it say the door's open?", Billy says in a panic, glimpsing at the dash.

"That's because it's open, Billy", Jason replies.

More security vehicles rushing in on the chase as they near the girls, "Their they are! Get closer!"

Billy does but doesn't stop. "Get in!", Jason calls to them with his hand held out. Kimberly acts first and he quickly brings her in before going for yoga girl and pulls her in also.

"What about the other guy?", Billy asks.

The back seat trio look to each other before saying, "Just go!", "Go!", "Go!", Jason, Kimberly and yoga girl respectively say.

Billy pushes forward before Kimberly shouts, "Billy watch out!", causing him to turn smacking off of some poles that soon knocked down some construction, cutting off the security from them. They soon drive out the fence gate from when Billy and Jason arrived.

"Let's go downhill! go to the lights below!", Jason informs Billy.

"You wanna drive now?" Billy asked him, looking back at them.

"Keep going, Billy, we're almost there.", Jason says.

"Guys! Guys, there's a train", yoga girl informs.

"We got it", Jason replies, seeing the approaching train to left.

The asian is running on the rocky hill to their right and sees them along with the train before jumping onto the minivan with a thud.

"Oh, my God!", the girls yell out.

"Hey!", the asian says from the roof at the same slide door as before.

"What do you want me to do?!", Billy asks Jason.

"Keep going! I'll pull him in!", Jason replies.

"Okay!", Billy says as Jason opens the sliding door and pulss the guy in, him falling a little.

"Are you crazy?", Jason asks him.

He chuckles before replying, "yeah, I am"

The train's horn blows as it approaches.

"Yo, it's catching up", yoga girl says to Billy.

"Look, there's the railroad crossing. That's the way out, Billy", Jason says while pointing to the red lights up ahead.

Billy floors it, the van speeding to the crossing, trying to overrun the train

"You got it", Jason encourages Billy.

"You got it", the asian continued, as they neared it.

"I hope he has it", yoga girl said with her eyes closed.

"He definitely doesn't have it", Kimberly comments

They crash through the stopping bars, "I got it! I got it!", Billy calls out, right before the train hits the van and it flips to its right. They scream as it continues to flip over an edge.

It rains as the quintet black out.

In The Sea

A fishing boat is now heading back as the storm begins to strengthen.

"Let's go! Reel the fishing net in so we can leave!", the captain yells.

They drop the fish on the deck only to find some kind of bin with a ruby on the lid as well.

"What the hell is that?", the captain says.

They put it in the ice storage with the fish. Unknown to them, The ruby glowed before the lid opened.

Chapter End.
