Chapter 2: "Power"
At Jason's Home
Jason dreamed of the car crash before seeing a diabolical woman surrounded by monsters then jolting awake in his bed. He jumped out and got into a fighting stance before realizing where he was. Jason saw that he was shirtless and his remaining clothes were torn.
"How did I get back here?", he asked himself, remembering the crash. Feeling something in his pocket, he pulled out the coin with a red T-Rex on in
At Kimberly's Home
Kimberly was looking into her bathroom mirror, freaked out as to how she got home, with her pink pterodactyl coin sitting on the sink counter next to her phone.
She grabs the coin and then her phone while letting out a tired sigh.
At Billy's House
Billy is standing in his workshop, felling him self for injuries before sighing in relief. he rushed to his metal cabinet for something he needed . Going to open its door, the entire thing comes off the hinges.
"Whoa", as he backed up with the warping metal before examining what he done.
"Billy! What's happening down there?", his mom called from up stairs. this called Billy to turn to the basement door. Still holding the cabinet door in hand, his turning caused it to knock some of his things to the floor.
"Oh!", he then puts the door against its cabinet.
Back with Jason
Jason was overviewing the coin before setting it on his dresser and heading into the bathroom. Only to find the coin now sitting on the sink.
"What the fuck?", Jason questions.
He goes to pick up the coin again but diverts and turns on the sink, washing his face. He knocks over his deodorant and goes to pick it up before the coin began to vibrate. He instinctively went to grab it but ended breaking a piece of his sink bowl off.
"What the actual fuck?", Jason says.
Back with Kimberly
Kimberly was pacing her room looking at her phone as people she was once friends with sent her some mean girl messages.
In suppressed rage, she gripped her phone, however her phone then cracked and bent at the pressure f the grip strength she didn't previously have.
Kimberly gasps with utter shock before her grasp on her phone increased and it grumpled in her hand like paper.
Later, at Angel Grove High
The bell had ringed and Billy was at his locker to prepare for his next class. Unknown to him, Bulk and Skull approach Billy.
"Oooh", Bulk yells out as if he fell, but knocking billy's school material out of his hands instead. Skull then proceeded to step on it while doing his obnoxious laugh.
"So where's your bodyguard, Billy?", Bulk asks before grabbing Billy's hand.
"What are you doing?", he asked the bully duo, looking between them and his hand.
"Well, I was thinking of twisting your wrist till you do my homework", Bulk relies.
"Our Homework", Skull interjects to which Bulk and Billy look to him.
"...Our", Bulk corrects before trying to twist Billy's wrist. However, Bulk was straining as Billy wasn't moving, his hand not moving without Billy's approval. Billy himself was looking at his hand with curiosity as to why Bulk wasn't hurting him. Getting angered at being unable to do this, he then headbutted Billy.
THUMP!
Only for Billy to remain still as Bulk became woozy.
"Oh, no, no, no, no", Billy says as Bulk fell onto the ground, "Okay, Okay".
This started to draw more attention to Billy as Skull looked between him and Bulk's down form.
Thinking of nothing else to do, Skull headbutted Billy as well and soon joined Bulk on the ground.
"Damn! Billy Cranston just knocked Bulk and Skull out cold!", one guy exclaims.
Billy gathers his things then begins rushing away, pumping into a girl.
"Hi, Billy", she seems flirtatiously greet, causing him to gain a smile as he headed to class
Meanwhile, Angel Grove High, Stairs
Jason was walking down the stairs as Kimberly was walking up. Jason noticed her and immediately pulled her to the side onto the landing.
"Hey. What happened, happened, right?", Jason asked her.
"Yeah, it happened", Kimberly responds.
"We were hit by a train and we're standing here, unharmed", Jason says, overviewing those around passing by to make sure no one was overhearing their conversation.
"I don't remember how I got home from the mine at all", she tells with her eyes wide in panic, "I slept all day yesterday".
"We got to find Billy", Jason sighs.
Lunchroom, Angel Grove High
Billy was sitting at a lunch table, surrounded by other students and telling them about the incident with Bulk and Skull. Of course, like any teenager retelling others about something, he was exaggerating.
"...and I say "Hey, man, look, I'm not a violent person"", Billy explains, ""But if you must com at me. Come at me, bro", with the others around him cheering him on.
"Down with those douchebags", a teen with a goatee celebrates.
"Down with those... I don't... I don't say that word", Billy backtracks before Kimberly comes up behind him.
"Hey, Billy", she says with urgency. everyone at the table becomes quiet at her presence.
"Hey Kimberly... Kimberly Hart", Billy sumbles with his words.
"We need to talk", she informs before leaving the table.
The others stammer as Billy immediately leaves his seat and follows her.
"Since when do we know Kimberly Hart", "Billy's awesome", some of them say before Billy's out of ear shot.
The duo head toward the lunchline while a former friend of Kimberly, Amanda passes by, "Nice hair", she tries to insult before leaving with a laugh, Kimberly sighs in exacerbation.
Billy was looking around, excited at his new found popularity, "Billy, look at me", Kimberly tells him.
"Huh?", Billy focuses his attention on her.
"Do you feel... weird?", Kimberly asks him.
"You mean weirder than usual?", Billy specifies.
"Yeah", she says before putting down her pink inlaid gold coin onto the lunch server counter.
"Oh!", Billy exclaims before pulling his coin out of his pocket and putting on the counter next to hers.
Immediately after, Jason appears between them and set his coin down with theirs.
"Okay, we all know something happened up there, right", Jason begins, " I'm different than before".
"Me too. Oh! I'm strong", Billy tells them, his excitement rising.
"How strong", Kimberly asks him.
"Like, insanely strong", Billy tells them, "Bulk and Skull smacked their heads on mine, I didn't feel anything and they got knocked out.".
"Really?", Jason asks him, to which he nods in excited confirmation, "Sweet"
Kimberly shakes her head at the nonsense and sighs, "ALright, I feel we to go back up there."
The trio then notice their respective coins were vibrating again before floating a little as they released a high pitch whine. Jason, Billy, and Kimberly slapped down the coins before the lunch ladies and other teens could notice.
"The counter's boiling", Jason notes as the metal counter around the coins glowed hot. Soup bowls on the lunch trays on the counters boiled before they began to melt, glass shattered and soda cans explode, covering Amanda and others in food with others were panicking.
"We're going back... Today", Jason tells them before leaving with his coin.
"Yeah", Kimberly agrees, looking back at the chaos before grabbing her coin and following him, Billy then grabbed his and rushed after them.
Angel Grove Docks
A police officer arrived at the boat of the fisherman that found the bronze bin with the ruby on the lid.
"Hey, welcome aboard", the captain of the ship greets him, "We found it while during our catch. It looks old but valuable, so I wanted to see if it was stolen or missing before doing anything else with it", he then leads the officer to fish storage, the only place they could put it.
The officer goes down while the captain remains uptop to finish his work. He sees the ancient bin sitting there with it's lid opened.
"Dispatch, this is Meinen. Do we have anything on a missing bronze bin from the museum or anything?", He turns to talk into his walkie-talkie before looking back to the bin before a golden hand grabs his face.
With the Teens
Kimberly was driving Jason and Billy back up to the mine while they pass the police investigating the totalled remains of Billy's Mom's van.
"Let's just... keep going", Kimberly says as she continues the drive to the mine.
They soon arrive and enter the mine yard, surveying the area before Kimberly notices, "Guys, look. Look, It's that one guy again", referring to the asian teen that they were with that night. he was smashing away at the obsidian where they had got the coins from.
"Found anything interesting yet?!", Jason calls out to him.
"If I do, I'm keeping it!", he yelled back.
"We know why you're here", Kimberly yells to him.
"Oh, yeah?!", the teen begins, "You guys wake up, surprised to be alive and jump over a house!"
"Yeah", Billy yells back, "Kinda. Well... no. Look, we're different, alright. Everything's different."
"You're Zack, right?", Kimberly asks the teen.
"Yup", Zack confirms.
"You still go to Angel Grove?!", Jason asks him, still from across the mine.
"Ha! Sometimes!", Zack responds, "you know, the other girl was here too. About an hour ago".
"You mean that girl right there", Billy points to her walking in the distance, above Zack.
"Hey!", Jason calls out to her, drawing her attention, "Come on down! We should figure this out!"
She panics though and uses her new abilities to climb up a sheer rock face at speeds faster than any human.
"Whoa", Billy comments in amazement.
"Oh, screw this", Zack says before chasing after her.
"Ok, let me handle this.", Kimberly tells them as she quickly follows.
"She went up there very fast", Billy says to himself.
"Wait!", Jason calls out before Kimberly super jumps further into the mine quarry and runs next to Zack up the rock face.
"Yo, Keep up!", she taunts Zack as she passes him, to which he laughed.
They were soon right behind her as she closes in on a ravine.
"Stop!", Kimberly yells. causing the girl to skid to a stop before the edge.
They look to each other, "Just.. just talk to me", Kimberly pleads.
The boys soon arrived.
"You have a coin. We have a coin.", Kimberly begins while the other girl looks back to the ravine, "I mean, we don't know what this..", but the girl runs to the edge and jumps over the ravine to the other side.
"Whoa! Whoa!", Billy and Zack called out. Jason though, immediately followed and landed on the other side, although he accidentally landed on her.
"Get off of me", she groans
"Oh, sorry", Jason grumbles before getting to his feet and helping her up to hers, "Just wait a moment"
"Oh, you're both crazy!", Zack calls out from across the ravine, "But so am I".
"Whoa, Zack", Billy says as Zack backs up for a running start.
"No, I got this", Zack says before running to the edge.
"Wait, wait", Kimberly tries to dissuade but Zack ignores her.
He then jumps over the ravine to Jason and the girl, cheerfully screaming as he does. Jason moves himself and the girl to the side, causing Zack to fall flat on his face when he lands, "Oh!".
Kimberly takes a breath before looking to Billy, "Alright, I'm going to jump over, you can either jump with me or jump after. Okay?"
"No, no, no. Don't jump. Don't jump", Billy denies.
"It'll be a piece o' cake", she tells him before running then jumping across to join the others.
"That's not a piece o' cake!", fearfully yells at her as she sails through the air before landing a little roughly onto the ground.
"Hey, you okay?", Jason asks, helping her up.
"Yeah, had worse tumbles", she replies.
Jason looks to Billy, now alone on the other side of the ravine, "You got this Billy!",
"No, I don't!", Billy yells to him in denial.
"It's fun!", Jason tells him.
"It's such a far jump!", Billy retorts.
"If we were normal!", Jason says as the other teens begin badgering Billy to jump over, peer pressure at it's finest.
Billy began to pace back and forth, talking to himself, "The drop is probably more than 100 ft which means death is imminent. Okay. So if you die Billy, what's going to happen? Okay, You're mom will be alone. But it's okay, she can find somebody else, but she couldn't..."
"He's scared", Kimberly comments.
"He'll come across. He's fine", Jason waves it off.
Billy steels himself before running to the edge with a battle cry and jumps. His arms and legs were waving sporadically in the air as he soared towards them
Zack was whooping while Jason and the girls notice something.
"Shit, he's coming up short", Jason says before closing in on the edge to help Billy.
Billy then crashes into the edge, with his legs dangling over the edge, "Ah"
"Are you okay?", Jason asks if he's injures.
"I got it. I got it", Billy says as he climbs over the edge on the ground with everyone else, "I did it!".
"See, what we tell you", Jason says, "You got it", clapping in celebration at Billy's stunt.
"Whoo!", Billy cheers, everyone else cheering him on to, however he danced a little to his own cheer and lost his balance
"Billy!", Jason yells as Billy fell into the ravine. They all race to the edge to look for Billy.
"Is he dead?", Zack asks.
"What do we do?", Kimberly asks, beginning to panic.
However, Billy then calls up to them from the bottom of the Ravine, "Hey guys, you gotta come down here! It's water. You gotta see this", easing everyone's worry for him. They even start to laugh.
"Yo! Alright, I'll see you guys down there", Zack tells Jason before pointing to the runner, "Uh... Bring that crazy girl", before jumped into the ravine spread out like he was going to do a belly flop.
Jason looks to Kimberly than to the crazy girl in question than back to Kimberly, "I think you'll have better luck with her", he gestures before jumping into the ravine doing a militaristic, feet first, dive.
The girl goes to leave before Kimmberly took action, "Uh... hey, could I get a sip of your water?", using her water hanging on the girl's bag. The girl looks to her with scepticism. "I'm dying and I don't think that water is safe", Kimberly continues to try and convince the girl.
Sighing, the girl grabs her water bottle and goes to give it to Kimberly, "Okay. Just don't finish it",
"Thanks. And I'm sorry", Kimberly says.
"Sorry for what?", the girl asks, only for Kimberly to grab ahold of her and throwing both of them over the edge to the others. They screamed as they fell before falling into the water with the boys. This reveals that the water can only be accessed via a relatively small hole in the ravine, showing how luck Billy and they were.
"Welcome to the club", Zack greets the girls as the group float in the water, "Sup, crazy girl".
Jason then notices something surrounding them in the water, "Hey, guys. Guys!".
"What?", Zack says.
"Check out how we glow", Jason points out. The others see that each of them had a colorful aura in the water.
"I'm Blue!", Billy announces, "Not my favorite color, but cool", his blue jacket seemed to say otherwise.
"Pink", Kimberly informs.
"Yellow", crazy girl tells them.
"I'm Black", Zack says, drawing Billy's attention.
"What?", Billy asked, confused.
"I'm am", Zack seemed to brag to Billy.
"No your not", Billy dismisses, thinking he's talking about his skin color, causing Zack to laugh.
"He messing with you, he means the aura, Billy.", Jason informs.
Billy then decides to look under the water and sees something, he resurfaces, "hey guys. There's something down there. Follow me." Everyone soon followed him under the water, the one girl was the only one to hesitate.
Swimming straight down, the five teens come across a water reflection. They reached through the reflective veil to feel air on the other side. They pull their heads through and take a breath. They then appear as though they are swimming on the surface, but the opposite of that.
"Where are we?", Jason asked no one.
"I don't know", Zack answered anyway.
"Jason, I'm sliding", Billy tells them before he then falls from the water to the cave ground. The others fall with him. Everyone hits the ground with Jason righting himself and landing on his feet. He was able to catch the girls but Zack and Billy hit the ground.
"Well, that is unusual", Jason remarks at the water that was above them, acting like a ceiling with daylight shining through. he puts the girls down and they get to their feet.
"This just gets better and better", Zack says, using his light to look around. Billy doing the same with his own light.
"Do you feel that?", Kimberly asks as there was a slight rumbling going on, "The walls are shaking"
"There's something down here", Jason confirms, "this way".
Billy uses his light to see something ahead of the group, "That's impossible". The five teens see a metal structure seemingly fused to rock. They approach it with curiosity, taking in the sight and slowly approaching what appears to be steps.
"This must have been here for millions of years", Billy states, "Look how the rock as grown around it".
"I don't like this place", Kimberly tells them, feeling creeped out.
Jason grabs his coin from his jacket. It was glowing red with a soft humming sound.
"Hey guys. Check this out", Jason says, bringing the other teens to surround him and observe his coin's glow. Just then, the door at the top of the steps opens up. "Okay", he says before they head inside.
Jason quietly takes in the layout of the inside while the others gas in amazement.
"Holy Sh--", Zack started before Billy gut him off.
"SHHhh", Billy shushed.
"What? You think there are aliens?", Zack asks.
"Well, just in case, be quiet, Zack", Jason tells him in a hush tone.
"So cold in here", the yellow clothed girl comments.
They explore the enclave they entered, while Billy talks to Jason, "Jason, is this real? Are we really in a spaceship right now?"
"I think so.", Jason replies, "Look, just breath. Remain calm, okay".
"Okay", Billy breathes.
"Hey", the girl calls out, bringing the other's attention to her, "We've all seen enough. Right? e should go now?"
"What? We're going to be famous!", Zack complains as he runs up to her.
"What is wrong with you, Zack? Quiet", Jason shushed him, "There's something here."
The others could then here a scurrying scratching before the room seemed to shift, and the stairs rose , sealing the exit.
"Shit. The stairs!", Zack yells.
Paths open up with a figure that had lights coming from it's form soon appears.
"Guys! That way! Let's go!", Jason yells at them to head to the corridor in the opposite direction of the being.
"I'm Going!", Billy yells out as they run.
They soon enter a hallway with curved figures along the side and splitting the hall in the middle. They split to hide among the curves, Zack to one side and turning off his light, Kimberly to the other, and the remaining in the center. Jason had climbed up to get a vantage point with all of them looking where the came for the approaching figure.
They waited with baited breath before the girl Jason has yet to learn the name of, is pulled out of hiding by her foot with a scream.
"I'm coming", Zack calls with everyone else coming out to help her. Jaso was ahead of everyone else as he had jumped out to grab her to see the figure that grabbed her.
It looked like a robot. It had red and bluish-black body with a yellow lightning bolt on it's chest. Most notably was the golden saucer looking head with a red visor for the eyes, and a domepiece that looked like a galaxy or something. (Combination of classic and 2017 movie).
"You're real!", a voice came from the robot, sounding a little masculine. His extending arm releases her and snaps into its proper place.
"Leave her alone", Zack came in only for the robot to clothesline him, causing the girl to shriek.
"Hey, hey, back up or we'll fight to kill", Jason says as he and the other three stand before the robot.
"Kill me? How?", he asked the teens with genuine curiosity.
"There's five us", Kimberly points out the superior numbers.
"Yes, I know! I've been waiting for you", he informs them, "Wait, 1, 2, 3, 4... Where's the other guy?", forgetting he knocked Zack down before looking behind him, "Oh! There he is", and extended his arm to grab Zack and drag him to the group, "All of you".
"In a spaceship underground?", Billy questions the alien automaton.
"What's today? Monday?", the bot asked them.
"Yeah", Billy answers.
"Then... 65 million years", the robot informs them.
"Damn", Jason blurts.
"Yeah. I've been very lonely", the robot depresses before getting excited, "you're all so young looking.", causing the other teens to back up a little.
"This has to with the coins?", Jason asks him.
"Yes, yes, the coins!", the robot states, "Different colors. Different kids. Different colored kids! I'm so excited that your here!", scaring the other teens again, "Turn around. Go on".
The five then turn around to see massive room with a terminal near some kind of wave wall. There was a stand area with some kind of holographic galaxy in the center of the room.
"No way", Billy breathes out.
"Nice", Jason compliments the room.
"Proceed", the robot instructs them, "This will work. Five"
They walk down some steps as Kimberly quietly tells the others, "Guys, let's focus on getting out of here. Stay together, and when we get a chance..."
"We run like hell", the other girl states
"And if we don't get a chance", Jason inquired, pretty chill about the situation, but cautious.
"Then we kill it", Zack aggressively answers.
"This shouldn't hurt but who knows. Please stand here, on the footprints", the bot says gesturing around the hologram.
"Bo, we're not going to do this", the unnamed girl says.
"Hey question. Um, what are you?", Billy asks the bot.
"I'm Alpha 5", he answers, "An alphormic lorcaid persona android"
"What?", Jason questions, 'Alphormic Lorcaid?'
"He said...", Billy goes before Jason interrupts.
"I know", Jason cuts.
"I'm a talking robot", Alpha 5 says, "You can trust me".
None of them really did though, ut the ever curious Billy decided to do what he asked of him.
"Billy!", Kimberly admonishes.
Billy taps his foot on the platform, it glowed for a brief moment but he was unharmed. He closes his eyes and steps on, only for nothing to happen for now. Billy laughs and looks to everyone else then waves for them to join him on the other platforms.
They four look to each other before Zack sighs, "What the Hell?", and steps up to one of the platforms.
"Okay", the girl accepted before her and Kimberly moved to the other points on the other side of the boys.
"Why do you keep looking at each other? Is that a human thing? Fascinating", Alpha 5 asks as Jason moved to the last platform closest to the terminal, opposite of the room's entrance.
The second Jason placed both feet onto his platform, power surged throughout the room as the one curved wall rippled.
"Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi! It's working! This is great! It's working!", Alpha 5 cheers as a face begins to appear on the wall, "Zordon, are you there? Zordon!"
"Alpha! Where are we?", the face of Zordon asked in his alien language.
"Zordon, nice to hear your voice", Alpha 5 replied in the same language.
The teens were freaking at the energy surging while Zordon says, "I can see you Alpha but I can't see me. Where am I?"
"You're inside the ship", Alpha informs.
"Okay, it's okay", Jason was trying to calm the others down as they overhear Alpha with Zordon.
"Sir, I sealed your essence into the ship's matrix", Alpha explains. Jason and the others get up and run to leave, "The power coins have finally returned". The door to the room then closed, with Billy knocking on it, hoping for it to open.
"Where are the coins? Where are the Rangers?", Zordon asked Alpha 5.
Alpha 5 turns to the teens, "Come forward, please!", as the teens were still at the closed door.
"Do we have a choice?", Kimberly asks the other teens.
Probably not", Jason replies and the five turn around to approach the wall.
"They speak a primitive dialect called english", Alpha 5 informs the massive face on the wall, "You'll find it in the ship's matrix", He then turns to the teens and speaks in english, "Look! It's Zordon!"
"What?", Zack asks in confusion.
"Zordon, they don't know who you are. Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi! I didn't tell them or anything", Alpha 5 says.
"These are them?", Zordon questions, now in english, "They're so small... young".
"I aid the same thing actually", Alpha says.
"You mean to tell me that the fate of the universe is placed in the hands of these... these children?", Zordon asks, his face moving around the curved wall to get a better look at the teens.
"The universe?", Billy asks, stunned, "That's a big place".
"They're teenagers", Alpha 5 informs Zordon, "Somewhere between infancy and full-maturity".
"Near the tail end", Jason corrects.
"Show me the coins", Zordon demands of them, the teens each showing their coins to the wall, "The Morphin Grid is never wrong. If the Power Coins returned to the ship with these... teenagers, then these teenagers are the Power Rangers."
"Power Rangers!", Alpha cheered.
"What?", the girl asked.
"Okay, quick question. Hate to interrupt.", Zack cuts in, "But did I just hear you say we're Power Rangers?"
"Yes. Yes. You are the Power Rangers", Zordon reiterates as his face moves to the portion near Zack.
"No, I'm good", Zack says, cowed.
"Good", Zordon states.
"I got a question.", Billy raises his hand and Zordon moves over to him, "Um, hi. How you doing? My name is Billy. Billy Cranston. Kids used to call me Billy Crams-ton because..."
"Billy", Jason says, causing Billy to refocus.
"Oh, right. Um, the images here in this...", Billy gestures to the holographic image in between the platforms, "tell a history of the Power Rangers. Looks like the Power Rangers were a team that protected life. And life was a bright light or a piece of light?"
"Yes! Yes, very good, Billy", Zordon begins, "It is called the Zeo Crystal. And every planet in the universe that has life has a piece of the crystal buried inside of it".
"65 million years ago, Zordon's team died defending the crystal here in what is now Angel Grove", Alpha informs the teens.
"The coins have chosen you five", Zordon explains, "Now you must protect life on Earth."
"Because we're the Power Rangers", Jason says, processing the situation he was in.
"I'm sorry, is this some kind of joke?", Kimberly is in denial, "I'm soaked with a wet wedgie, we're squishing around in here and talking to a wall. I mean, guys..."
"Silence!", Zordon commands and the teens are sent into a floating stasis.
Jason then appears in his bed he then gets up and goes outside, the world is almost in complete silence. He suddenly appears in the middle of the road in town.
"Dig. Dig, Goldar", he hears a female whisper around him. To which he can't see. He then sees a golden winged figure in the distance before the town is destroyed and an asian looking woman flashed before him. People appear around him, seemingly turned to stone. Jason and the others seemed to switch places in flash as the woman stands before them and the town is destroyed. They scream in agony as their bodies break down, pale with black veins. They back away, bumping into the people and causing them to fall into dust.
They then awaken back on the ship and fall to the floor.
"Zordon, Sir, I'm detecting elevated heart rates. They're very scared", Alpha 5 notes.
"What was that nightmare?", Jason questions Zordon, recovering from the vision.
"It's not a nightmare. It's the future should you fail", Zordon says.
"Was that for real?", Kimberly asks.
"Felt like it", the other girl replies.
"And who was that woman?", Jason asked, approaching the console close to Zordon.
"Her name is Rita Repulsa. She will lead her forces to rip the Zeo Crystal from Earth and use its power for herself, wiping out life on this planet in the process", Zordon explains, "She will have the power to create and destroy worlds".
"So let me guess", the yellow coined girl states, "You want us to kill this woman? Rita?"
"Aye-yi-yi! Rita", Alpha moans in despair.
"She must be stopped", Zordon says with resolution.
"When is she coming?", Kimberly inquires.
"She's already here, freed from her prison", Alpha 5 tells them, "Best guess until she recovers is 11 months. Wait, days, i meant days, 11 days".
"If we are the Power Rangers and this is our ship, if I walk through that door right now, will it open for me?", the girl asks Zordon.
"Yes, of course", Zordon supplies, accepting that they may run from the responsibility.
"Come on, let's go", she tells the others, with them quickly leaving, save Jason.
Zordon sighs while Alpha 5 asks, "What are you doing? No no no, come back! Aye-yi-yi! Please don't leave!"
Jason takes a moment to look between the face and the robot before going to leave.
"Jason, my Ranger team defending the crystal from Rita and her minions", Zordon states and brings Jason's attention to him, "that's why i'm in this wall."
"How'd you know my name?", Jason asked him.
"Because it's you, Jason Todd", Zordon tells him, "You are the leader. You are the Red Ranger", the hologram galaxy then went red and showed a blurry red figure before bringing up Rita at her full power, "Rita was sorceress that I had thought an ally till it was revealed she was bent on intergalactic domination. She is pure evil.", the image ended and Jason turned to Zordon," You must bring them back. All of the Rangers. You must train them to defeat Rita before she has the strength to get the crystal."
"Look, while I'm all for stopping an evil witch from destroying the world, why does it have to be us?", Jason says to the two, "You learned our language despite being trapped down here. So you must know about the superheroes all over the world. Why not try to get them to handle it? Why the Power Rangers?",
"The morphin grid is its own unique force that is needed in the universe, not just anyone can fight for it.. The fact this teamhasn't been active in millions of years is concerning.", Zordon somewhat explains, "You were born for this".
Jason leaves to go meet with the others. he soons finds them just hanging around under the water pool they entered this cave from.
"You all waited?", Jason asked them, "Even you?", referring to the girl who was in the most rush to leave, "Who are you actually?"
"Really? You ask that now?", she responds.
"She's Didi", Zack supplied.
"Trini", she corrects.
"She's new at school", Kimberly informs, "Transferred in about a month ago. We have english together".
"I've been in Angel Grove for over a year now and we have biology together", Trini correct Kimberly, leaving said girl a little embarrassed at how wrong she was, "Good talk".
"Alright, look... All of us don't really know each other, okay", Jason says, "But somehow we were all in the same place at the same time when Billy found those coins."
"Wait, wait, wait. Can I ask a question?", Billy interrupts, "Are we really superheroes? Like Blue Beetle or Green Lantern? 'Cause i fell, like..."
"Trust me", Zack interrupts him, "You're not a superhero."
"Why are you talking like you're that boss now?", Trini asks Jason.
"Hold up", Kimberly cuts in, "Can any of this Rita stuff be real? Can any of it be true?"
"In the world we live in?", Jason sarcastically asks, "With Kryptonians, Martians, Amazons, and god knows what else. But the answers to what's going on with us, is here."
"So what are you saying?", Kimberly asks him.
"I think we got to come back", Jason replies, "I can't make any of you come back here. but at 4pm tomorrow, I'll be here. Because I can't sit back while some crazy bitch destroys the world".
"Hey, Jason, we don't.. we don't...", Billy goes but Jason has already super jumped into the water to leave, "That makes sense", he comments on how Jason was able to leave.
"Of course", Trini comments at all of their stupidity. Apparently, they weren't waiting for Jason, they just didn't know how to leave.
"I can't believe I did think of that in the first place", Billy says, as he was the smartest in the group.
Then group the left.
Later, Zack's Place
Zack has returned home and began to set out medication, putting them on a tray with cookies and orange juice. He then head to a bedroom where his mother laid in bed.
"You came in so late today", she spoke to him in mandarin, sitting up in bed for her medicine.
"Relax, mom, stay in bed", Zack replies in mandarin, adjusting her pillows so she is more comfortable.
"I was happy just t know you'd come home", she tells him, "You're going to school, right?", to which Zack remains silent, "Zack, you didn't answer me."
"Make sure you take these", Zack tells her, handing her the pills she needs.
Trini's House
"So where were you today?", her mom asked her, "Were you with friends? Do you have friends", that last part was kind of insulting, "Why are you so tired..."
"Sweety, you're asking her so many questions when she hasn't even answered the first", her father tells his wife.
"Because she's been like a ghost...", she went before calming down.
"Relax", her husband tells, "Trini, why don't you share one thing you did today?".
Trini knew her mother might react badly, but, "Me and four others from school found a spaceship and I might be a superhero", she made it sound sarcastic so it's harder to believe.
Her mother reacted immediately, standing up and pulling a sample cup from nowhere, "pee in that cup!", apparently she thinks her daughter is on drugs.
Jason's Place
Jason was working on his car, a 69 mustang, since he had time right now. He was wondering about what will happen going forward before overhearing a police officer talk to his neighbor, Mr. Scott about an incident on his boat.
Elsewhere in Angel Grove.
Five figures were sitting in an alley eating anything they could grab while the news talked about the death on the boatin the nearby store.
"I need gold, to rebuild my armor", a blue beastial man states as a woman looks through the gold teeth that were pulled from transients, now dead.
"Soon, Goldar. Then you'll pull out the Zeo Crystal and I'll rule the universe", the Woman says while the three others laugh.
The Next Day
Jason was standing at the ravine, 4pm soon approaching. Just then, the four others walk over the hill top and walk up to Jason, bringing a small smile to his face that he quickly hides.
"What's up crazy girl", Zack greets Trini, since she was the last person they thought would show.
"Hey", she responds.
"Shall we do this?", Jason asks them and they nod back.
They head back into the control room of the spaceship, where Zordon explains what they should do.
"You need to follow three rules to being a Power Ranger", he tells them, "You must never use your powers for personal gain. You must never escalate a fight, unless your enemy forces you to. And you must never reveal your identity, ever.", Trini was lucky her family didn't believe her, "To assume your ranger identities, you need to morph. Have any of you morphed before?"
"Yes, but only in the shower", Zack joked, causing all the teens but Billy to laugh.
"Masturbation joke", Jason clarified for Billy, to which he nods.
"Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi. just step onto the platforms, please", Alpha 5 insists, "Let's try this".
The teens get into place.
"Standing in this circle as a team, you can easily connect into the Morphin Grid.", Zordon explains, "Do you feel it?"
"Yeah they do", Alpha 5 optimisticlly says.
"No", Zack denies, "Not feeling it".
"You need ti morph to get your armor, your suits", Zordon informs
Billy claps in excitement, "I knew it. We do get super suits. Jason, our own super suits!"
"Cool", Zack states, "Why don't you give us the suits?", he asked Zordon.
"You already have it", Zordon replies, "You bring out when you morph, by connecting to your power coins, each other, and the Morphin Grid. Clear your minds and focus.", the teens try to focus and morph into their suits, "Power Rangers were a legion of warriors sword to protect life", Zordon seemed to chant, "You must become those warriors", the light then dims and Alpha groans in despair.
"What? Did it work?", Kimberly asks before looking at herself to see she is the same as she was before trying.
"Alpha 5, why didn't they morph", Zordon questions Alpha 5.
"I don't know sir, it's disturbing. Very disturbing", Alpha 5 replies as no Ranger team has ever had such a problem, "This might take time"
"We don't have time", Zordon says.
"If they can't morph, what are we supposed to do?", Alpha inquires of his master.
"They'll have to train without the suits", Zordon states, "They need to prepare".
"Aye-yi-yi. Without suits? Sir, that will be very painful", Alpha 5 comments, causing the teens to look at each other.
"Take them down to the Pit", Zordon has of Alpha.
"Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi", Alpha 5 sighs, "All right. Follow me. We're going to the pit".
"Jason, I don't think I wanna find out what the pit is", Billy panics.
Later, in the ship
"This is the Ranger's Training Room, aka the Pit", Alpha 5 announces to the teens, revealing a cube shaped room, grey in color with a blue line coming from each wall and meeting at the center of the floor (PR: Battle for the Grid game), "Nice , right?".
"Alpha 5, begin the exercise", Zordon called out over some speakers.
"Sorry, guys", Alpha 5 apologizes.
"What exercise?", Jason asks him.
"Chill out, dude", Zack dismisses.
Figures began to grow from the room. Revealing men of clay or stone with faces stuck in anguish.
"These creatures before you are a simulation of Rita's army, they are called the Putty Patrol, also known as Putties. you must get through them to get to her", Zordon informs.
"No, no, no, Jason', Billy complains while trying to grab onto Jason but he kept slapping his hand off.
"Cool", Zack is chill, "Look, relax, guys. It's a hologram", he says as he approaches the Putties, "Like a video game. Look.", only for one of them to sucker punch him in the gut and sent him into a wall.
"Whoa", Billy sympathetically groans with his hand covering his mouth and his other hand his stomach, "That's a strong ass hologram", this causes Trini to laugh at Zack.
"Not a video game", Zack groans in pain.
"This is why you need to morph", Zordon interjects, "The power coins increase your strength to fight these beings, but only with your suits do you not have to worry about injuries as much. If Rita builds to vast an army, it'll be the beginning of the end. Rangers, welcome to training."
"So excited to have Rangers again", Alpha was giddy as this was what he waited for, "Aim for the center mass".
Jason ditched his jacket and then ran up to a Putty. It went for a right hook to knock him down, but he dodged it then went for a spin kick at its torso.
"Oh, nice", Alpha 5 compliments him.
Over the next week, the teens trained together.
Jason had taught Billy the basics first, left, right, good night, and went from there.
Trini revealed she knew Kung-Fu from her previous township, she especially proficient in Praying Mantis.
Kimberly had no formal fighting but was a practice gymnast since before she was a cheerleader, jumping and dodging with ease before Jason and Trini got her into some hits, usually with her knees and elbows Muay Thai style.
Zack actually knew some official martial arts like Jiu-Jitsu and Hokido, while working on his own original one that he called Hip Hop Kido, which was a dancing martial arts similar to Capoeira only less breakdance like.
Billy would also spar with Alpha 5 to get his confidence up, allowing him to attack faster, without hesitation.
In their daily lives, Zack's mother started being happier as he was with friends instead of constantly worrying for her.
They started hanging out at school and in town more. Trini and Kimberly even had a fork fight over the last donut ala Kung Fu Panda.
"You must shed your masks to wear these suits", Zordon says during one of the attempts to morph only for it to fail again, "Back to the Pit"
Alpha 5 showed the group a slip, grab, lift technique and had all the Rangers try it out. Figuring that if they fought alike they might morph.
Kimberly, Jason, and Billy would secretly play with a paper shuriken in detention, which helped with their reflexes. Billy eventually opened the paper to see Kimberly wrote that they should start a band, to which he shook his head and crumpled the paper before tossing it away, the paper ended up hitting Bulk and Skull in the head and Billy ducked his head to avoid their attention.
"Think only of each other and the Morphin Grid will open to you", Zordon states during another attempt that failed which lead into an argument about concentrating. Of course they were getting tired and stressed out from all the work.
Alpha 5 and Billy had also worked on tracking where the Zeo Crystal was exactly but kept it on the back burner. However, Billy ended up doing it in his free time.
"Once they regain their power and if Goldar is able to rip out the Zeo Crystal, it'll be like 10,000 nuclear bomb washing over the earth", Alpha 5 informs them as they follow him through the caves.
"That supposed to freak us out?", Zack flippantly says.
"Busting our asses to morph, you could throw us a bone", Jason says as everyone stops before Alpha 5.
"Yes, I see you... busting your asses, so I've decided to give you some inspiration, or rather motivation", Alpha 5 says before ushering then into another area, "What you'll find here will forever change your lives, Rangers"
They then see five massive mechs, "The Zords", Alpha 5 introduces to the Rangers, "Pretty cool, right?"
"Yeah" Billy breathes out, while the others took in the sight of the Zords.
The five zords were each a different color, to match their Rangers. The Blue one looked like a Triceratops. The yellow one kind of looked like a Sabretooth Tiger. The black one was like an elephant or a mammoth, maybe a Mastodon. The pink one was probably a Pterodactyl. And finally the red one was obviously the renowned Tyrannosaurus Rex.
"The fact they are in the form of some of your ancient creatures that roomed this planet is a coincidence", Alpha 5 dismissed their design, "They will be an extension of you. And their power is all but limitless".
"Whoo!", Billy whoops, "This is so Cool!"
"But", Alpha 5 interjects, "you're not ready for this power. When you morph, your suits will allow you to be able to properly pilot it, to become one with your Zords. After that, you need to be able to turn your Power Coins into the Power Crystals to unlock their true potential".
"Powers Crystals?", Jason questions.
"Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi, let's not get into that right now", Alpha 5 dismisses, "Let's go train. Today's the day you become Rangers! I can feel it!"
Everyone went to follow him, except Zack, who stayed behind staring at his black zord.
Chapter End
AN: Just incase it wasn't mentioned, the Power coins look like the MMPR version but with the creatures being jeweled in the same color as the ranger.
The zords look like classic, for now, with the Pterodactyal actually being pink, not practiaclly red like the original version. They'll be updates to them in the future.
The Power Ranger suits will be inspired by Tokujay's designs, bcause their cool. Better than the original but not weird like the 2017 movie. Search 'Tokujay Power Rangers' if you want to see what I mean.
