Season 1, Saga 1: New World, Chapter 2: Sonic to the Rescue
(One morning at Christopher's Mansion, Chris was on the phone with his mother with True sitting on a chair close to a table as a butler came over placing a tray with tea and cups on the table and puts one of the filled cups in front of her while Sonic watches this from the roof, looking bored.)
(On the phone) "Oh, this picture has been a disaster, darling! A complete disaster! We've had to stop shooting because there's been torrential rain for days so there's nothing I can do besides sit and wait. I don't think I'll be back 'til late next week at the earliest. But I had plenty of time to go shopping and I'm having lots of wonderful presents that I hope you'll like them. They're coming on daddy's jet so you should have them tonight!" a female said from the phone
"Thanks, Mom. Mom, there's something I have to - well, there's something I did which I'm kinda not supposed to." Chris said
"Christopher, what happened?! Are you all right?!" Chris' Mom asked in panic from the phone
"Yeah, I'm totally fine. But remember how you've said that I'm not allowed to swim at night and how you wanted me to stay away from the adult pool?" Chris asked
"Did you go swimming in the adult pool at night all by yourself?!" Chris' Mom asked from the phone
"Um, well... not exactly. You see, there is this little girl in the pool and I got her out. She couldn't remember where she lived, so I thought you wouldn't mind if I let her stay here at the mansion." Chris said
"Oh, you have a big heart just like I do. Next time, ring for Mr. Tanaka and he'll take care of it, all right? Oh darling, I must run. Kiss mummy goodbye" (Kissing sounds between Chris and his mother) "Ciao, sweetheart" Chris' Mom said from the phone
(Chris hangs up the phone as Sonic jumps onto the balcony.)
"Take a good look, I'm a hedgehog, not a cat!" Sonic said
"Um, I know. Please don't be mad. You see, my mom wouldn't understand." Chris said
"Why wouldn't she?" Sonic asked
"Well first of all, she knows that I wouldn't risk diving into a pool in the middle of the night just to save a little hedgehog as well." Chris said
"Really?" Sonic asked
"What else could I say to her? I couldn't tell her that I saved a blue, talking hedgehog too. That reminds me! Where and when did you learn how to talk, Sonic?" Chris asked
"Good question. Unfortunately, I don't have a very good answer because I don't remember." Sonic said
"Isn't talking something everyone would learn when they're young?" True asked
"Yeah." Chris said
(The phone rings.)
(picks it up to answer it.) "Hello?" Chris asked
"Chris, is everything alright?" a man asked from the phone
"Hey dad, how are you?" Chris asked
"I'm fine but your mother just called and told me that you made an emergency rescue last night. I guess our security system can't protect against orphan kids that decide they want to go for a midnight swim. Chris, I know you like animals but what you did was dangerous. Were you hurt? Did the girl scratch you while you were trying to save her?" Chris' Dad asked from the phone
"No scratches at all. I'm fine, Dad. Honest, I am. It wasn't really that big a deal. After I jumped in and got her out of the water, she was really happy. I can tell." Chris said
"Yeah, gotcha, yeah-" Chris' Dad didn't say on the phone
"Besides, I could've had Grandpa, Ella or Mr. Tanaka to help me if I needed to. Don't worry, Dad. They're taking good care of me." Chris said
"Yeah, they better be. Listen, Chris. I've got an important meeting to run to. You call me anytime if you need anything and no more late night swims, promise?" Chris' Dad asked on the phone
"Okay, Dad. I promise. See ya soon." Chris said
(Chris hangs up and then turns to Sonic who sighs in boredom.)
(Lightly chuckles) "I almost forgot, you must be pretty hungry. I was thinking you might like to have something to eat." Chris said
"Yeah, I guess I could go for something to eat. What's on the menu?" Sonic asked
"I checked out hedgehogs on the internet and found the perfect thing." Chris said
"What's that?" True asked
(Chris grabs a bowl piled with unknown food of some sort and Sonic takes a piece for a bite.)
(gags from the piece) "Uh, what is this?!" Sonic asked in disgust
"Cat food." Chris said
"Uggghhh! No wonder it tastes like there's cat in it!" Sonic said
"It's not made of cats, is it!?" True asked in fright
"N-No! It's not made of cats, it's made of natural ingredients other food has" (turns back to Sonic as True let out a sigh of relief.) "The website I went to said most hedgehogs love cat food. I guess that doesn't go for all hedgehogs. I can get you a bowl of crickets." Chris said
(Sonic knocks the bowl of cat food away which causes True to duck in panic and jump off the balcony onto a tree.)
"No! Please don't run away!" Chris shouted
"Sorry kid, but crickets don't do it for me!" Sonic said
"I'll get whatever you want but just don't go!" Chris said
"Hah, see ya!" Sonic said
(Sonic jumps off to go for a run.)
"Come back! Sonic, you could get hurt out there!" Chris shouted
"How is Sonic not scared?" True asked
"I'm not sure, it's like he isn't afraid of anything." Chris said
(True looked to where Sonic ran off wondering about it, later that day, the three were watching the News on the living room TV.)
"The supersonic speed demon seen here on police helicopter video has the city baffled." the News Reporter said
"It was about this high, it was blue and it looked like a freak!" a Police Officer said
"I was doing about 60 when this thing went 'wooo' right by me!" a citizen said
"That thing moved too fast to be a regular animal!" another citizen said
"As to the question of whether this is a UMA, Unidentified Mutant Animal, it is positively not. Even the cheetah, which is widely believed to be the fastest member of the animal kingdom, cannot outrun a speeding Formula One police car. Because of this, the inescapable conclusion one must inevitably come to is that this so-called "hedgehog" is, in reality, a machine." an animal doctor said
(Sonic munches on some crisps while Chris frowns at him as True holds a crisp in her fingers and tries it only to spit it out in disgust.)
(bursts through the door.) "There you are! Guess what?! A big, blue hedgehog came out of nowhere and outran the S-Team yesterday!" the elder man said
"Duh... umm…" Chris had trouble saying
(the elder man looked between Sonic and the TV until he and Sonic stared at each other at close-up.)
"Ahhh!" Chris yelled
(Chris covers Sonic with a pillow as True backs up a bit from what is happening.)
"Hey, cut it out, I can't breathe!" Sonic shouted
(Sonic forcibly removes the pillow and crosses his arms, frowning.)
"Blue. Just like that- ahhh... it's him!" the elder man said
(Sonic yelps from the man grabbing him as True hides behind Chris in fright.)
"Easy, grandpa!" Chris said
(Chris' Grandpa then pulls out a screwdriver making True and Chris panic.)
"Grandpa, what are you doing?!" Chris asked in panic
"What is he gonna do!?" True asked in fright
(Sonic yelps in being ticklish from getting poked on the back by Chris' Grandpa.)
"I have to see how this thing is put together!" Chris' Grandpa said
(Sonic jumps out of Chris' Grandpa's grasp and lands on the other side of the living room table.)
"STAND STILL!" Chris' Grandpa shouted
"Grandpa, wait! He's not a machine. He's Sonic the Hedgehog!" (points to True from behind his back.) "And this is True." Chris said
(Chris' Grandpa drops the screwdriver in surprise)
"Now let's go live to this late-breaking story." the News Reporter said
"Please!" a young voice said
(True turns to look and see a little rabbit girl younger than her and a strange little creature in her arms crying in fear as they are being rescued by firefighters.)
"Please, leave us alone!" the rabbit girl said
"It's Cream and Cheese!" Sonic said
"It's who?" Chris asked
"Those are your friends?" True asked
"We're not the only ones who got transported into this weird world after all. I'll save those two!" Sonic said
(Sonic runs off as True and Chris run outside.)
"Sonic, wait!" True shouted
"Do you know where they are?" Chris asked
(Sonic screeches to a halt, turns around, runs back, stops and shrugs.)
(In the mansion's garage, Chris' Grandpa is on the phone with a military official.)
"I thought they probably do something along those lines. Well, thanks very much for giving me the scoop and I'll talk to you soon." Chris' Grandpa said
(Chris' Grandpa hangs up the phone.)
"Well, it seems like Sonic's friends have been captured by the police and moved to Area 99." Chris' Grandpa said
"Area 99?! That's that top-secret military base!" Chris said
"Area what?" True asked
"It's where the national defense force keeps all their tanks, fighter jets, and high-tech spy equipment." Chris said
"That sounds like Eggman's kind of place!" Sonic said
"Your friends have been taken there by the army and placed under 24-hour guard. The authorities believe they could be aliens or perhaps members of a mutant species developed by an enemy power designed to attack our population. I wonder if they might not be right, Sonic, eh?" Chris' Grandpa asked
"Think what you want! I'm gone! Now I know where my friends are, I'm outta here!" Sonic said
(Sonic proceeds to walk out of the garage)
"But if you show up at Area 99, they'll lock you up too!" Chris said
"I don't even wanna know what they do there." True said
"They can't lock me up!" Sonic said
(Suddenly, the garage door in front of Sonic closes.)
"Open that door!" Sonic said
"Don't look at me, I didn't do it!" Chris said
"I don't even know how to make it work!" True said
"Heh, it was me! You're going to need some help, Sonic. I'll go with you!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Grandpa, are you serious?!" Chris asked in surprise
"Of course I'm serious and you're coming along, too. You told me you don't want to live a boring life like your father so here's your chance for some excitement!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Well, if you're up for it, I'm up for it! Just don't tell Dad!" Chris said
"Alright, let's get going!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Go where?" True asked
(Chris and his Grandpa became confused about True coming as Sonic facepalms himself about it.)
(True, Sonic, Chris and his Grandpa are then seen in the middle of a deserted road driving out to Area 99.)
"It's gonna take forever to get there! I'd rather just go by myself!" Sonic said
"Chill out!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Is it time?" Chris asked
"It's time!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Time for what?" True asked
(Chris gives Sonic an Infrared Scope.)
"Put it on." Chris said
"What's this?" Sonic asked
"An Infrared Scope. I'm certain that Area 99 is full of infrared motion detectors that set off security alarms. If you wear that, you may be able to avoid them." Chris' Grandpa said
"It does?" True asked
(Jumps off the car and runs off.) "See ya later, guys!" Sonic said
"He certainly is a speedy little critter, isn't he? YEAH!" Chris' Grandpa shouted
(Chris' Grandpa steps on the accelerator pedal hard to keep up with Sonic as True and Chris braced themselves from how fast they were going. The scene changes to the facility of Area 99 and the security are observing a researcher who walks towards a laboratory. He then stands in front of an eye-scanner to validate his identity.)
"Identification number: F219563. Confirmed." the Area 99 mainframe said
(The door opens for the researcher to proceed through. Inside, Cream and Cheese are inside some sort of a scanning tube device.)
"We didn't do anything, please let us out!" (She is then examined by a camera.) "What kind of place is this? Cheese, we've gotta get out of here!" Cream said
(The camera conducts further examination while Cream looks out in fear. The scene changes to Sonic who is still making his way towards Area 99.)
"Sonic, can you hear me?" Chris asked
"Yeah!" Sonic said
"Remember, when you get to the main building, go in through an air vent. That should be a blind spot for security. Got it?" Chris asked
"Got it!" Sonic said
"But grandpa, after he gets inside, how will he find where his friends are?" Chris asked
"Will he be able to find them?" True asked
(Chris' Grandpa takes the communicator from him.)
"Give me that! Listen to me, Sonic! Once you head inside, you won't have much time so think quickly and act quickly!" Chris' Grandpa said
"Grandpa, what if he doesn't?" Chris asked
"Thanks for the tip. I'm going in!" Sonic said
(Sonic jumps over the large gate of Area 99. Security cameras sense that an intruder has arrived and scan everywhere to look for Sonic.)
"Intruder alert, sector D. Intruder alert, sector D." the Area 99 mainframe said
(Sonic runs past a security camera and jumps into an air vent.)
"I'm inside the air vent." Sonic said
"Be careful." Chris said
(slides down the vent until he stops in an even part of the vent aches from sliding down it) "It feels like I have skid marks on my butt." Sonic said
"How's it looking there, Sonic?" Chris asked
(Sonic sees lasers also being placed in the air vent.)
"Just great." Sonic said
(taps the mic of the piece making Sonic flinch from it.) "Is something wrong?" True asked
"Don't tap the mic, True. it's bad for the one that hears it." Chris' Grandpa said
(Looks down at the moving security cameras) "This will be a piece of cake!" (Sonic drops down to the corridor and moves from wall to wall while avoiding the cameras.) "I'm too fast for them!" (Sonic looks at the next section of the corridor filled with security cameras.) "Heads up!" Sonic said (Sonic repeats the same action to navigate through the section.)
"Searching for intruder. Searching for intruder. Searching for intruder." the Area 99 mainframe said
"I wonder if he's okay…" Chris said
"I hope nothing bad happened." True said
(Back in the laboratory, the tube is sealed with a binder to perform more scans. The researchers are supposedly surprised by their results.)
"I don't like this…" Cream said
(Cheese cries in worry. The scene switches to Sonic where he is outside the laboratory room.)
(in thought: Hmm, maybe that's where they are. I have to get inside and check it out, but this won't be easy. If it was just me, I could get out quick, but if I have to bring Cream and Cheese with me, I can't get too reckless.) Sonic thought
(Suddenly, the power of Area 99 goes out as the facility's lights stopped functioning.)
"Abnormality detected in the electrical system. Abnormality detected in the electrical system." the Area 99 mainframe said
"Ah great." an Area 99 researcher said
"Now we can't see anything!" another Area 99 researcher said
(Suddenly, sounds of glass breaking can be heard.)
"What the-?!" a third Area 99 researcher exclaimed
"Hey, where'd they go?!" a fourth Area 99 researcher asked
"Sonic-" Cream didn't get to say
"Shh!" Sonic said
(Cheese hugs Sonic, making him laugh.)
"Over there!" a third Area 99 researcher said
Let's go!" Sonic said
"Right." Cream said
(Some electricians appear and find that the power wires were struck with tiny mechanical airplanes.)
"What are these things? Somebody has sabotaged the whole system! Boys, let's move it! We need the power back now!" the Head electrician said
(Sonic and Cream are running through the dark corridor.)
"Wow, Sonic! How did you shut off all of the electricity?" Cream asked
"I didn't do it, Cream! I guess it just happened!" Sonic said
"Maybe it just happened because you bring good luck everywhere you go, Sonic!" Cream said
"You might be right!" Sonic said
(Sonic and Cream gasp in horror as the power is restored and the security cameras are looking at them.)
"I shouldn't have said anything. This must be a jinx!" Cream said in panic
"This isn't your fault." Sonic said
(The security cameras reveal laser weapons on top of them.)
"Cream, hang on!" Sonic said
(The laser security cameras fire their lasers at Sonic and Cream but they avoid getting hit by the lasers.)
"Right." Cream said
(Outside, True, Chris and his Grandpa hear the alarm go off.)
"Sonic, what's going on?! Are you and your friends alright?!" Chris asked in panic
"Not exactly." Sonic said
(Sonic lets go of Cream.)
"Sonic-" Cream didn't get to say
"Run!" (Sonic jumps onto a laser camera which he uses to shoot down the other laser cameras.) "Keep running!" Sonic said
"Right!" Cream said
(Cream continues running. The scene switches to the security surveillance room.)
"D2 area lockdown in progress." the Area 99 mainframe said
(The doors of Area 99 begin closing one by one. Cream is about to approach one that is just about to close.)
"The door! We can't make it out!" Cream said (Sonic rushes to Cream's aid and just speeds past the closing door. In the next room, they encounter more laser security cameras.)
"Just my luck." Sonic said
(Notices something approaching from the other end of the room) "Hey, what are they?" (Sonic and Cream watch the paper airplanes knock the laser security cameras out of their stands in surprise.) "I don't understand. What's going on?!" Cream asked
"We can't stick around to find out!" Sonic said
(Sonic and Cream run to the next door that they just managed to pass through before it closes. The scene switches to the security surveillance room where monitors begin blanking themselves as the personnel struggle with losing control of the base.)
"Facility lockdown in progress. Facility lockdown in progress. Facility lockdown in progress." the Area 99 mainframe said before shutting down
(The power of the facility is cut off once again. Some of the laser security platforms attack in a random manner, destroying walls.)
"The laser surveillance cameras are out of control!" an Area 99 guard said
(Sonic and Cream now run up a staircase.)
"Sonic, are we going to make it out?" Cream asked
"Don't worry, we'll make it!" Sonic said
(A laser security camera destroys a staircase where Cream was standing. Cream screams as she almost falls, only to still hold onto Sonic's hand. Sonic realizes that the room will not hold out for much longer. With all his might, Sonic carries Cream and jumps from one broken staircase to another until they reach the top.)
"See, Cream, I told you we'd make it, and we did! You didn't doubt me, did ya?" Sonic asked
(Shakes her head) "Thank you for saving us!" Cream said
"Ah, anytime, Cream. Anytime." (Suddenly hears a plane droning) "Huh, what's that?" (A close up view of a biplane outside Area 99 is seen.) "Sounds like a plane. The Tornado!" Sonic said
(outside view of the Tornado with a two-tailed fox piloting it.)
"This must be the place." (Sonic holds Cream and Cheese as they smash through the roof.) "Alright, Sonic!" the fox said
(The fox flies closer to Sonic so that he can land on the plane with Cream.)
"Hey!" Sonic said
"Ha ha!" the fox laughed
"It was you! You are the one who helped us get out of there!" Cream said
"I helped, but Sonic is the real hero! But I wasn't alone." the fox said
(points to the back seat for them to see a boy with purple hair and wearing white clothes that had his eyes closed while in the air.)
"He must be from True's world." Sonic said
(The Tornado flies past True, Chris and his Grandpa as they watch in excitement.)
"Well, kids, mission accomplished! Let's head for home!" Chris' Grandpa
(Later, the scene changes to the mansion's garage.)
"My name's Christopher. Sonic and True landed in our swimming pool last night and I dove in and saved them." Chris said
"My name's Tails and I'm Sonic's very best buddy! Right, Sonic?" Tails asked
"Correct." Sonic said
"I'm Zee, I'm a friend of True's." Zee said
"My name is Cream and this is my very special Chao friend, Cheese. Thanks for having us." Cream said
"It's very nice to meet all of you. I have a feeling that we are going to become really good friends. Oh, and this is my grandfather." Cream said
"Extraordinary. Tiny, radio-controlled airplanes. Extraordinary." Chris' Grandpa said
"We got lots of neat gadgets." Tails said
"Listen, Sonic! This isn't some game we're playing, you know. You could've gotten all of us thrown in jail!" Chris said
"Maybe I could, but I didn't, did I?" Sonic asked
"Couldn't you try to be more careful?" True asked
"This is an amazing piece of equipment. It goes beyond anything I have ever seen. How did you develop it?" Chris' Grandpa asked
"It's nothing special. Not in the world we come from." Tails said
"And where is exactly that world, Tails?" Chris' Grandpa asked
"Beats me, but I think we got here through a warp in time and space." Tails said
"Hmm, very interesting. Not very helpful, but interesting." Chris' Grandpa said
"I just thought of something. If you, me, Cream and Cheese are here, maybe the others got here too." Tails said
"Just like me and True from our world, our friends could be here as well." Zee said
"You guys might be right about that, and if you are, that means, maybe…" Sonic wondered
"Eggman's here too!" Sonic, Tails and Cream said
"I hope none of our friends are being held by him." True said
(The scene switches to a fortress where it is located on a deserted island. Floating orb-shaped robots surround the tower at various heights, some occasionally turning to observe the area.)
"So, we were transported into this world by Chaos Control. And we weren't the only ones that came here." the man said (turns around in his chair revealing Rainbow King cuffed in between two robots.)
"Don't think you'll get away with this, Eggman." Rainbow King said
"That's Dr. Eggman, and I think I will, I'll even rebuild the foundation of the Eggman Empire here, and soon I will rule the entire universe!" Dr. Eggman said (Laughs)
(Rainbow King became worried about what is to come to the world he was sent to.)
