Season 1, Saga 1: New World, Chapter 5: Cracking Knuckles
(The scene opens to Knuckles sitting on a bucket as Grizelda is laying on the ground asleep with the gown of her dress now torn, a newspaper of Sonic on the front page then flew onto Knuckles leg for him to grab it and look at the newspaper, and then grunts out of jealousy as he lets go of it, resulting in it flying through wind. He later has a flashback of him protecting the Master Emerald. He grunts for a moment until he hears someone coming.)
"Huh?" (Knuckles stands up on the bucket as Eggman emerges from the shadows.) "What do you want, Eggman?" Knuckles asked (Grizelda woke up from hearing Knuckles and gasped from seeing Eggman.)
"Please help me, Knuckles!" (As Eggman's words catches Knuckles and Grizelda off guard, they wonder as Eggman surprisingly grabs onto the echidna's hands, shocking Knuckles as he lets out a surprise gasp.) "If we don't do something fast, Sonic could make us prisoners on this planet forever! If we can gather all seven of the Chaos Emeralds, there's a fighting chance that we can somehow reverse the effect that sent us to this world and return to where we came from! Sonic knew he could use the Chaos Emeralds to warp himself through time and space, that's the reason he attacked "Chaos Control"! He found out that I'd collected all the Chaos Emeralds to keep them out of his grasp! You know how reckless Sonic is! I was afraid of what he might do if he got a hold of the emeralds, so I set up defenses, but there was no stopping Sonic! He was determined to push his selfish search for thrills all the way this time, no matter who got hurt! Finally, Sonic invaded Chaos Control, and to my horror, he finally achieved his goal! Sonic destroyed Chaos Control and sent us all here, just for the fun of it!" Dr. Eggman said
"Sonic... he's crazy!" Knuckles said
"I can't believe he did that." Grizelda said
"I've changed my ways and want to live in peace but Sonic won't let me!" (Blows his nose into a tissue and sniffs for a bit.) "What can I do?! He won't even give me a chance to fix things! I want to get us back, but what I found with the Chaos Emeralds, do you know what happened? Sonic snatched it from me, and said he's going to stay here as long as he pleases!" Dr. Eggman said
"That selfish hog!" Knuckles said
"He said that we can't leave here until he says so! He thinks this world's a lot more fun than ours and if we don't agree, it's our tough luck!" (Knuckles gets angry.) "You'd think he'd be more concerned about his buddy?" Dr. Eggman asked
"Sonic isn't my buddy! I'm sick and tired of Sonic turning everything into a game! Either Sonic gives us that emerald or I'm going to take it from him!" Knuckles said
"Be careful! Sonic says he'll crush anybody who tries to get it back!" Dr. Eggman said
"So then, a battle to the bitter end!" Knuckles said
"I'm not gonna be left out of it, I'm gonna..." Grizelda didn't get to say
(places his hand on Grizelda's shoulder to calm her down.) "Easy, you're not fit to fight someone like Sonic. He's mine to deal with." Knuckles said
(My chronic Sonic problems are over!) Dr. Eggman thought in his head
(The scene changes to the Thorndyke mansion where Zee, Tails, Chris and Chuck are talking about the Chaos Emerald as True is now awake while her hand is still healing.)
"A Chaos Emerald! Does anybody know where they come from or how they work?" Chris asked
"Nobody knows much except that they're really powerful!" Tails said
"It's a good thing True didn't touch it." Zee said
"Yeah, I don't want to be in a worse condition from the ring." True said
"That I agree with, I just hope my analysis reveals something about the emeralds make-up" Chuck said
(Just then, someone knocks on the floor door.)
"I know you're in there, you haven't let me clean your room in so long I'm issuing a dirt alert!" a female voice said from under the door
"Oh no, it's Ella! Quick, Tails, hide" Chris said
(Tails panic and as soon as Ella enters, he jumps into a bean bag and freezes to look like a doll.)
"I thought I'd find you here, Christopher!" Ella said
"Oh, hi there, Ella!" Chris said
"Hi miss Ella." True said
"Hello." Zee said
"Hmmm, keeping this room dust-free is a losing battle, not that I'm complaining, but it's like trying to vacuum a dirt road! I-" (Looks at the stationary Tails "doll") "Ahh!" Ella said
"Err.." Chris said
"He's so precious! Is this your toy?" Ella asked
"Err... I got it for True, to help her feel better after getting injured!" Chris said
"Ahhh... how lovely!" Ella said (Tails turns his eyes towards Ella, leaving her surprised.)
(snatches Tails) "I... think I'll go outside and play! Zee, True, let's go, gotta stay fit." Chris said
"Me too!" Chuck said (Runs along with True, Zee and Chris down the stairs.)
"Wow, guys, that was a close call!" Chris said
"We sure fooled her!" Chuck said
"Yeah!" Chris said
"I feel bad for lying to her though." True said
(The group continued to run beside the mansion as Sonic was on the railing of the balcony on the second floor asleep until he heard them run by.)
"Can't I nap in peace?!" Sonic asked himself
(Without warning, Chris and Chuck bump into the butler.)
"Master Chris, what, may I ask what is going on?" the butler asked
"Um, we're just playing capture the stuffed animal." (chuckles. Goes around the butler with True and Zee following behind.) "Bye!" Chris said
"I think I'll-" Chuck didn't get to say (gets halted by the butler.)
"Sir, while I commend your desire to stay fit, I would stick to adult sports like bowling." the butler said
"You can't tell me what to do! I'll play Ring Around the Rosies if I-" Chuck didn't finish (leans back in fright from seeing the butler becoming serious.)
"Perhaps you should slow down. Rest is important, and I believe it is time for your nap." the butler said (grabs Chuck by the shoulders and leads him to his room in the garage.)
"I don't need a nap!" Chuck said
"You can play later." the butler said
"I have work to do!" Chuck said
"Come along, Mr. Thorndyke!" the butler said
"Forget it!" Chuck said
"Off to bed!" the butler said
"Take your hands off me!" Chuck said
(Chris briefs a sigh of relief until Amy bumps into them.)
"Amy! You know it's dangerous to wander around here by yourself." Chris said
"I just saw a news report. It looks like they found another Chaos Emerald!" Amy said
"The strange energy spikes which seem to be coming from the Silver Valley area have played havoc with computers and machinery across the entire region. Investigators are looking into-" a news reporter started on the tv
"I bet it's a Chaos Emerald." Tails said
"A Chaos Emerald does that?" True asked
"You know, Silver Valley isn't very far from here. Let's check it out!" Chris said
(the group was about to head out until Amy stopped and looked up to where Sonic is.)
"Hey, Sonic, you've heard the news?" Amy asked
"Huh?" Sonic asked
"We're going to Silver Valley. Come along and we'll have a picnic there!" Amy said
"But we're going for the Emerald!" Zee said
"Nah, I've been there before." Sonic said
"You went without me?! So you stopped there during one of your runs, ha?" Amy asked
"Yep, you guessed it!" Sonic said
"Fine, Sonic! C'mon, we'll have more fun without him anyhow." Amy said
"How can we get there without a car? My grandpa's resting and I can't ask Mr. Tanaka to drive." Chris said
"If I drive, I'm gonna get spotted." Tails said
"I'd call Cumulo, but she can't carry all of us." True said
"What can we do?" Zee asked
"Hey, I know how we'll get there." Tails said
(True, Zee and Chris are in a train on-route to Silver Valley with Tails and Amy acting as stuffed animal toys leaning on True and Zee's shoulders who are holding onto them like actual animal toys.)
"Those stuffed animals are really cute!" a girl said
"Where did he get those toys for the two?" a woman asked
(sighs) "They're all staring..." Chris whispered
"It's okay, Chris. We're almost at our stop." Tails whispered
"Don't talk, they'll hear!" Zee whispered
"Hey, True, I need to blink, what do I do?" Amy whispered
"I'm not..." True didn't get to say
(pulls on Amy's ear as True tries to pull her back) "Hey, mom, could I get one of these? Wake up, mommy! Look at it! Oh please can I have one? Please mommy, please, you said I could have a toy if I was good! I want it-" the little girl didn't get to say (Amy kicks the girl and she screams before crying)
"Ahh... now if I could only blink, everything would be perfect." Amy whispered
(Sonic wakes up from his nap only to see a new robot flying in the sky and landed by him. The robot then took out a TV and set it on top of Sonic's foot.)
"Message for you. Here you go!" the robot said (presses a button on the TV turning it on.)
"Sonic, I'm sick of all of your selfish stunts! This time, you've gone too far! I'm challenging you to a showdown! Meet me in Silver Valley in one hour, and don't be late!" Knuckles said
(leans in pushing Knuckles aside.) "You better not be late! Or I'm gonna come over there and..." Grizelda didn't get to say (gets held back by Knuckles grabbing her by the arms.)
"Easy kid! Don't get ahead of yourself!" Knuckles said
"This message was brought to you by the Eggman Empire, which is not responsible for its content, except this part!" Dr. Eggman said
(The television explodes as the messenger robot flies away while laughing.)
"Knuckles is gonna regret that!" Sonic said
(the scene changes to Silver Valley where the group has set up a picnic.)
"This picnic was a super idea, Amy!" Tails said
"Yeah, and long as I don't use my injured hand, I'll be okay." True said
"It was worth the trip, even if there is no emerald." Chris said
"Shouldn't there be a lot of people here if they found a Chaos Emerald?" Amy asked
"Maybe something else caused the energy spikes." Zee said
"I guess it must've been a mistake. We can still have some fun while we're here." Chris said
"We could take a hike in the mountains, or go swimming in the lake." Tails said
(True, Zee, Tails, Amy and Chris scream when something suddenly bursts out of the water, revealing to be a giant robot. The heroes turn to run but the robot scoops them up and traps them inside its body.)
"Eggman!" (sees Eggman fly over while laughing) "You rat! You tricked them into broadcasting that news story!" Chris said
"I generated artificial energy spikes just like the ones made by Chaos Emeralds! It isn't my fault that those news hounds barked up the wrong tree!" Dr. Eggman said
"I hate to admit it, but Eggman even had me outfoxed!" Tails said
"Huh?" Zee asked
"Well, his plan failed cos' we're out of here!" Amy shouted (Attempts to break the glass with the Piko Piko Hammer, but fails and becomes tired.)
(laughs) "You can't leave! I need you in case my first plan to beat Sonic fails!" Dr. Eggman said
"Sonic isn't here!" Amy said
"He'll be here any second now!" Dr. Eggman said
(at another area of Silver Valley, Knuckles and Grizelda were sitting on a rock waiting for Sonic as Grizelda was starting to get sleepy.)
(Where's Sonic? He should've been here by now!) Knuckles thought in his head
(After a few seconds, a whoosh sound was heard for Knuckles and Grizelda to open their eyes and see Sonic standing in front of them while holding a flower in his hand.)
"Hey there, Knuckles!" Sonic said
"You're late, slowpoke!" Knuckles said
"Yeah, well, I stopped to enjoy the scenery! This planet is pretty cool! It's nice here! Yeah, you'd like this world too if you weren't such a party pooper!" Sonic said
"Don't you dare talk about him like that! I'm gonna..." Grizelda didn't get to say (gets held back by Knuckles holding an arm in front of her.)
"Enough talk, let's go!" Knuckles said
"Oh relax, will ya?! We have all afternoon to duke it out, buddy boy!" Sonic said
"He's not your buddy and don't forget it, smart aleck! Now put 'em up! We didn't come here to sniff the flowers!" Grizelda said
"That's your loss! You don't know what you're missing, but if you rather get clobbered by me-" Sonic didn't finish
"SHUT UP! Give me the emerald you stole! OR ELSE!" Knuckles shouted
"Your brain's even slower than your feet!" (Knuckles grows more furious before he makes the first move and attacks Sonic. Sonic, in response, keeps dodging the echidna's attacks as they continue to fight up the mountains. Sonic runs up towards the top of the tree.) "Not a bad view! Woah!" (Knuckles grabs the tree that Sonic is standing on and throws it but Sonic lands on the ground unharmed. Knuckles continues to knock down trees in an attempt to crush Sonic but the hedgehog proves too fast for his rival, even when taunting the echidna. The battle eventually takes place back down in the grounds.) "HEY, HELP ME! Huh?" (stops splashing and looks down to see he was in the shallow part of the lake.) "It's lucky that I fell in the kiddy pool! Get ready, you're going down!" Sonic said
"Hmph! Let's end this now!" Knuckles said
(As the battle continued, the scene went back to where Eggman and his robot are with True, Zee, Tails, Amy and Chris trapped inside.)
"Go, Knuckles! Show Sonic he can't keep us stuck here! Our only hope is for you to trounce that tyrant!" Dr. Eggman shouted
"Sonic..." Chris said
"Did they have to fight right now?! Can't they free us first?!" Amy asked in anger
"There!" Tails said (lifts a panel off the beam in the middle of the robot.)
"Good work! How'd you do it?" Zee asked
"I... used my screwdriver." Tails said
"You're really handy!" Chris said
"No big deal... now I've just got to figure out how this thing's wired." Tails said
"We don't have time for this, Tails! Step aside, I'll 'fix' that robot!" Amy said
"Ah! AMY?!" Tails shouted in panic
"No, no! Don't!" True shouted in panic
"HIYAAH!" Amy yelled (slams her hammer at the beam causing an explosion.)
(Sonic turns around to see the explosion only for Knuckles to knock him into the air.)
"GET HIM, KNUCKLES!" Dr. Eggman yelled
"It's Eggman!" Sonic shouted (about to run over only to stop from hearing Knuckles.)
"GET BACK HERE, you quitter!" Knuckles shouted
Sonic: We'll settle this later!" Sonic said (runs over to the lake and saw the robot with True, Zee, Tails, Amy and Chris poking their heads out of the broken part of the robot)
"Hey! Get us down from here!" Amy shouted
(hovers over in his Egg Mobile) "Look what've you done, you've wrecked my robot, and it isn't even insured!" Dr. Eggman said
(Sonic runs past the robot's legs, damaging them and causing it to fall to the ground.)
"Hey, what's up?" Sonic asked
"Ah, thanks, Sonic!" Chris said
"Yeah, I thought we would be trapped in this robot forever." True said
"It's not over, Sonic! Pumpty may be down but it certainly isn't out! (Pumpty gets right back up, pointing its weapons at Sonic.) "Attack!" Dr. Eggman shouted
"Huh, uh oh..." Sonic said
(Sonic dodges more shots from Pumpty and suddenly, Knuckles kicks one of its cannons while Grizelda throws a rock into another one, destroying them.)
"This is a battle between Sonic and me! I'll fight my way!" Knuckles shouted (Sonic shrugs)
"Fight your way?! If you're going to insist on fighting a clean fight, then I'm going to start playing dirty!" (Pumpty launches itself, along with True, Zee, Tails, Amy and Chris inside it to the other side of the river.) "Plan A didn't work, so now we'll have to go to Plan B! Bring me the Chaos Emerald, or you'll never see your friends again!" Dr. Eggman said
"What is this? Eggman swore to me that all he wanted was to live in peace." Knuckles said
"He sure is tricky, isn't he?" Sonic asked
(realizes) "That swindler, he lied!" Knuckles said
"You're catching on, pal!" Sonic said
"Why that little..." Grizelda said
"Sonic!" Dr. Eggman said
"Hmm?" Sonic asked
"We all know that your weak spot is water, so I've stuck your friends over there where you can't save them without treading H2O!" Dr. Eggman said
"Yeah, that's what you think!" Sonic said
"Huh?!" (Sonic runs along the river's curve, running past Pumpty which causes it to fall to the ground again and smirks at Eggman.) "Show off!" Dr. Eggman said
"You alright?" Sonic asked
"I'm okay." Chris said
(Amy hugs Sonic and pretends to cry.)
"Take it easy, Amy." Sonic said
"I just knew that you'd come here and save me!" Amy said
"RUN!" Sonic yelled (Pumpty gets up while the heroes run for cover.)
"I'm not calling it quits yet, Sonic! You only had a preview of this robot's firepower! You and your friends are through!" (Pumpty begins firing in multiple directions.) "I've got you now!" Dr. Eggman said
"Oh no!" Amy said
"Let me take care of Eggman!" Knuckles said
"OK!" Sonic said
(about to rush over only to see Grizelda run by holding her slippers in her hands by the heels and towards Pumpty.) "Grizelda, what are you doing!?" Knuckles asked in panic
(Grizelda proceeds to attack Pumpty and jumps up to a height at Eggman's eye level.)
"You!" Dr. Eggman said
"YOU LIAR!" Grizelda yelled (Punches Eggman as he disappears into the horizon. Grizelda also delivers the final blow to Pumpty, causing a huge wind to blow her away. Sonic runs to Grizelda's aid.)
"Sonic!" Amy shouted
"You've both made it!" Chris said (Amy hugs Sonic.)
"Yeah!" Sonic said
"Oh, Sonic!" Amy said
"Knuckles and I had it all under control before Grizelda came in." Sonic said
(Knuckles turn to leave.)
"Knuckles!" Chris said
"I bet you want to apologize to Sonic for believing all the lies that Eggman told about him, and you probably want to thank him too while you're too proud!" Amy said
"Zip it!" (exchanges faces with True, Zee, Sonic, Tails, Amy and Chris until he looks at Grizelda) "I have to admit, Grizelda impressed me when she rushed out and took out that robot herself, I may as well teach her the ways of my people." Knuckles said
"What!?" (yells causing the others to flinch from it as Knuckles became worried from finding out Grizelda heard him.) "you were just letting me tag along until we come across them again!?" Grizelda asked in anger
"I didn't think you would be that tough when we first met, but after seeing you take down that robot, you changed my mind about it." Knuckles said
"Really? Well, I could show you how tough I am!" Grizelda shouted (charges at Knuckles with her slippers still in hand.)
(Knuckles began to panic and started running into the forest with Grizelda chasing after him in rage as the others watched in shock about it.)
