Season 1, Saga 1: New World, Chapter 12: Beating Eggman, Part 1
(We go to Thorndyke Mansion where Sonic is lying on the roof of the mansion reading a book.)
"I guess I must've seen every place there is to see on this planet, except for the places I'd have to swim to." Sonic said
(Scene shifts inside the Thorndyke Mansion's lounge. The audience on the TV are seen clapping.)
"Bye bye, my friends! I'll see ya'll tomorrow!" Next said
"Bye bye!" Cream said
"You two really like that show." Zee said
(Cheese replies while waving her hand. Ella opens the door holding a pie in her hand.)
"I thought you three might like a little snack." Ella said
"Thank you, Ella." Cream said
"It smells really good." Zee said
(just then, the tv went static and changed to a news report.)
"We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to go live to our SSTV correspondent, Scarlet Garcia." a tv reporter said
"The President's top aide is going to make a statement before taking questions from the press corps." Scarlet said
"The President has decided to take action to stop Dr. Eggman!" (Zee, Cream, Cheese and Ella look up in wonder. Scene shifts to Dr. Eggman's fortress.) "Has the administration developed a concrete plan to stop Dr. Eggman?" the President's Aide asked
"Oh yeah?! Well, I hope they've come up with a disaster management plan, because they're going to need it!" Dr. Eggman said
(Eggman laughs. The scene shifts to Knuckles who's climbing up a cliff with Grizelda hanging onto his back.)
"Alright, where's that emerald?" Knuckles asked
(looks up to see something flying by.) "Look!" Grizelda shouted
(Knuckles looks up and sees Cumulo and the X Tornado flying overhead and decides to follow them. Scene shifts to a closer view of Cumulo and the X Tornado.)
"True, Amy, there's my house down there!" Frances said
"Which one?" True asked
"Do you see the one with the red roof?" Frances asked
"Yeah, that's great, Frances!" Amy said
"You should come for a visit sometime!" Frances said
"We will! Thanks!" Amy said
"Hey, Chris, do you think we can fly over the school?" True asked
"Uh, well I... maybe…" Chris said
"Guys, this isn't a sight-seeing trip. We've gotta hurry and track down the next Chaos Emerald or Eggman will get it before we do!" Tails said
"I know, Tails. Sorry." Chris said
"It's alright. Hey, Chris, where did you get those new high-tech goggles? From your grandpa?" Tails asked
"Mmm, no, my teacher Mr. Stewart gave them to me. Like them?" Chris asked
"Mmmhmm, they look pretty cool!" Tails said
"Yeah, they're one of the best gifts I've ever got!" Chris said
(The inside of the goggles reveal a sensor picking up sounds within the X Tornado. Scene shifts to Chris' elementary school where Mr. Stewart is sitting in his car.)
(Via speaker.) "Amy, look! There's the school Chris and I go to!" Frances said (The X Tornado flies overhead of the school. Mr. Stewart immediately starts up his car and drives off. Scene shifts to the White House.)
"The power generators for Eggman's base are located under the tower, Mr. President." the Commander said
"Oh…" the President said
"This information came to us from Rouge and Topaz." the Commander said
"Well, Rouge, I'm glad my confidence in you wasn't misplaced." the President said
"This spy stuff is right up my alley!" Rouge said
"You and me both!" Bartleby said
"We're all very grateful. Now, let's review our attack plan." the President said
"Right." a Chairman said
(The Commander stands up.)
"You're taking all of the credit, I see." Topaz said
"I did do all the work." Rouge said
(Topaz frowns.)
"It will be a two-pronged assault from both sea and air." a Military advisor said
"Yes, but what if Dr. Eggman's robots counterattack?" the President asked
"These forces are merely a diversion. Eggman will deploy his robots against this frontal assault. Meanwhile, a special forces team will approach the island from the opposite side and sneak into the base from the rear. Once they break into the generator room, they'll cut off Eggman's power supply." a Military advisor said
"They will be backed up by a team from the intelligence agency including Rouge, Bartleby and some other agents." the Director of Central Intelligence said
"Good." the President said
"How come those two get top billing?" Topaz asked
"You know how it works, Topaz! There's a star in every show; we're just bit players!" the Commander said
"Um, now on to the subject of Sonic." the President said
"We are ready to capture him and force him to work with us." the Director of Central Intelligence said
"Well, now, you see... I've sent someone to try a more diplomatic approach." the President said
"Who, sir?" the Director of Central Intelligence asked
(Scene shifts over to the Thorndyke Mansion where the President's Aide and two agents are ringing the doorbell. Ella opens the door.)
"Good day, sir." (sees the President's Aide and recognizes him from the news report on tv.) "Ah! You're... the President's aide!" Ella said
"Is Sonic at home?" the President's Aide asked
"Err... I don't know... Who's he?" Ella asked
"The names Jerome. I'd like you to let Sonic know that I didn't come here to capture him. I simply came at the request of the President to ask for his cooperation. You should also tell Sonic that if he does agree to work with us, he'll be rewarded. The President gave his pledge that Sonic and his friends will be offered citizenship, and they'll be paid for their services." Jerome said
"That's all very nice, but I don't think I know no Sonic." Ella said
"We know you know Sonic, [Grabs a book and starts flickering through pages.] Ella." Jerome said
"But how do you know my name?!" Ella asked in shock
"We know all about you, this house, and your visitors." Jerome said
"I already told you, I don't know nothing so why don't you put an egg in your shoe and beat it!" Ella said
"I can cause a lot of problamers for you, lady. Get Sonic!" (Ella closes the door. Jerome attempts to open it and then Ella opens it and throws a bucket of water at Jerome before closing the door.) "Argh... what kind of security is this?! You're supposed to jump in front of me, now I smell like floor wax!" Jerome shouted
"Ella, who was it?" Mr. Tanaka asked
"Just because he's the President's "big-shot" assistant, he thinks he can threaten me! Well, I just showed him that he's all wet!" Ella said
(Scene shifts to the White House.)
"Yes, I see. Thank you. He couldn't even get into the door to see him." the President said
"Who knew hedgehogs were headstrong?" a Chairman asked
"It looks like we'll have to stop Eggman ourselves, Mr. President." the Director of Central Intelligence said
"I suppose we'll have to count Sonic out." the President said
"You don't need him in the game!" Rouge said
"Huh?" the President asked
"Not when you've got me and Bartleby there for you!" Rouge said
"Ah! You're right, Rouge!" the President said
"I'm not going to let anything stop me from getting my hands on a Chaos Emerald this time!" Rouge thought in her mind
(Scene shifts to Station Square. Mr. Stewart is driving his car.)
"Hmm, I wonder where they could be heading to now…" Mr. Stewart said
(Scene shifts to Cumulo and the X Tornado. The green Chaos Emerald is flashing.)
"The Chaos Emerald's picking up something!" Tails said
"That's great!" Chris said
"See the locater screen?" Tails asked
"South-southeast." Chris said
"Chaos Emerald, here we come!" Tails said
(The X Tornado turns around with Cumulo following from behind.)
"Hmm, they turned again!" Mr. Stewart said
(Mr. Stewart turns his car around. The X Tornado lands at the Tingalin Villa corn field as Cumulo floats next to it.)
"The scope says there is a Chaos Emerald in this field. We beat Eggman to it! Open up so we can start looking!" Chris said
"We can look from here!" Tails said
"Hm?" Chris asked
"Wait and see!" Tails said
(Tails presses a button and pulls a lever back. The X Tornado starts transforming.)
"What's this?!" (The jet boosters convert into feet.) "Wow!" Frances said
"Whoa!" True shouted (as Cumulo flew back a bit from the transformation.)
"Wow, Tails! What did you do?" Amy asked
"Heh-heh! I transformed it into an all-purpose robot called the X Cyclone! What do you guys say we take it for a little stroll?" Tails asked
"Uh huh!" Chris said
"Now, let's find that Chaos Emerald!" Tails said
(Scene shifts to Mr. Stewart.)
"A Chaos Emerald, eh?" (Holds out a device.) "This is Chalkboard Charlie calling homeroom! Come in, Homeroom! Over!" Mr. Stewart said
(Scene shifts to the corn field.)
"Looks like there's a Chaos Emerald right under our feet!" Chris said
"But we didn't bring a shovel." Amy said
"That's okay, because we've got the X Cyclone to dig for us!" (causes Tails to become shocked from hearing what she said.) "Isn't that right, Tails?" Frances said
"Hey, yeah! You said it was an all-purpose robot!" True said
"I... didn't include a digging function." Tails said
(True, Chris, Frances and Amy act surprised.)
"It's not all-purpose then, is it?" Amy asked
"Not exactly." Tails said
"Guys, I bet the farmhouse we saw has a shovel we can borrow." Chris said (Runs off.)
"Huh? I'll go with you!" Frances said
"Wait for me!" True said
(True, Chris and Frances run through the field and towards a farmhouse in the distance. Scene shifts to the White House.)
"This may well be our only opportunity, Mr. President. If Eggman leaves to chase after that Chaos Emerald, we can attack the base while he's gone, which will improve the odds of our success." the Director of Central Intelligence said
"And we'll have Eggman on the run." a Chairman said
"Mr. President?" the Director of Central Intelligence asked
"All right, then. Let's get this job done!" the President said
(The signal goes off; troopers position themselves in preparation for the attack on Eggman's fortress while Grizelda and Knuckles watch what's happening.)
"I wonder what's up now." Knuckles said
"What are they doing?" Grizelda asked
"I don't know, but it must be important." Knuckles said
(Naval forces start moving along the sea. Some agents station themselves to receive signals. Scene shifts to Eggman's room within his base. Rainbow King, Eggman, Decoe and Bocoe watch a T.V ad.)
"Now, folks, let's see how a single application of V-10 Stain Remover handles this gooey grease stain! Hah! Wow, look at that!" the ad said
"That's rad!" Decoe said
"Let's call and order some!" Bocoe said
"I wish that stuff got rid of infomercials, too!" Dr. Eggman said
"Have to agree, these infomercials aren't really thrilling." Rainbow King said
"Just think, you'll save a fortune with just one bottle of-" the ad didn't say
"They found a Chaos Emerald buried in a corn field near Tingalin Villa." the mysterious voice said
"What kind of show is this?" Dr. Eggman asked (Dr. Eggman steps in closer to the screen.)
"Yes, near Tingalin Villa. A giant jet landed there, and they're starting to dig right now. It's near-" the mysterious voice didn't finish
"Call in the next ten minutes and receive a bonus bottle at no extra cost!" the ad said (Eggman sits back down halfway through the end of the ad.)
(Dr. Eggman presses a button, revealing the Selection Machine.)
"Bring the cards!" Dr. Eggman said
"Here you are, doctor." Decoe said (Passes Dr. Eggman the cards.)
"Now then…" (Looks at the cards.) "I'm not sure." (Places the cards into the machine and pulls down the lever. The machine displays three images of a bird-like robot in the shape of a jet turbine.)
"E-35?" Rainbow King asked
"Funfun! Perfect!" Dr. Eggman said
(Funfun appears and takes off into the sky out of the base. Dr. Eggman follows. The G.U.N. agents watch this from their station.)
"There he goes. Get ready to mobilize!" a G.U.N. agent said
(Scene shifts to the military area.)
"Squadron A is away! Squadron B, get set for your run on the island." a military voice said
"Island?" Grizelda asked
"They're attacking Eggman's base!" Knuckles said
(Scene shifts to Tingalin Villa. Mr. Stewart is seen driving towards Chris' location. True, Chris, Frances, Amy and Tails begin to dig on the ground.)
"It must be deep." Tails said
"How deep is it?" True asked
"Just keep digging." Chris said
"What's that?" Frances asked
"Sounds like a jet!" Amy said
(Funfun flies overhead. and lands at a spot distant from the heroes with Eggman in his Egg Mobile next to Funfun.)
"Who's that?" Frances asked
"Oh, no, it's Dr. Eggman!" Chris said
"Do something!" Amy said
(Tails nods and hops into the X Tornado as True hopped onto Cumulo.)
"Have you found my Chaos Emerald yet?" Dr. Eggman asked
"We're not going to give it to you!" Tails said
"That's right!" Amy said
"Very well, I'll just take it then!" Dr. Eggman said
"Hey, I better find a phone and call Sonic!" Chris said
"Tell him to hurry!" Amy said
"Come on, Frances!" Chris said
(Chris grabs Frances' hand and they run off.)
"Go! Get them, Funfun!" Dr. Eggman said
"Stop 'em, X Cyclone!" Amy shouted
"Let's go!" (The X Cyclone takes off into the X Tornado and flies towards Funfun. Funfun activates its fan on its chest, blowing up a powerful current that sends Amy flying away as she screams.) "Amy!" Tails shouted
(The X Tornado is then blown into the ground.)
"You're blowing those brats away! Good work!" Dr. Eggman said
(The current creates an opening in the field.)
"Uh oh!" Tails said
(Chris and Frances, who are running from Eggman, see the current and dive towards the ground. The wind destroys a settlement further away as Cumulo was blown away a bit with True hanging on tight.)
(Laughs.) "This is the most 'fun fun' I've had in a long time!" Dr. Eggman said
(The X Tornado continues to get pushed away by the current.)
"Tails! You have to do something!" True shouted
"I can't! The control stick is jammed up!" Tails shouted
(Chris' goggles get blown away. Scene shifts to Mr. Stewart.)
"That corn field must be around here somewhere. Huh?" (The screen displays that the goggles have flown in the other direction.) "They're heading the other way! Alright!" Mr. Stewart said (Mr. Stewart turns around and drives off.)
(Scene shifts to the sea and Dr. Eggman's fortress where the air and naval forces begin their attack. The fighter planes and battleships fire their rockets at the base. The inside of the base is revealed and small piles of rubble are dropping.)
"What's happening?!" Rainbow King asked in panic
"It's an attack, your majesty! Those fighter planes are firing at us, and there are battleships, too!" Decoe said
"We will show them! Let us launch a counterattack!" Bocoe said
(A sealed hatch opens, revealing E-11 Beacons and E-14 Sneezers. E-14 Sneezer bombards the battleships while Beacon attacks the fighter planes. Bartleby and Rouge watch the fight from another section of the island.)
"I was wondering when they'd fight back." Bartleby said
"They're putting up quite a fight! Now let's knock out the power!" Rouge said
(Rouge gives the signal for Topaz and the special forces team to move into the base. Scene shifts to the White House.)
"My fellow civilians- err I mean 'My fellow citizens', today our millinery- no, our military sources-" the President said
"We go live in 15 seconds, Mr. President." a Cameraman said
(Scene shifts into Station Square where all the screens went static and changed to a news report.)
"We interrupt our regular broadcast to bring you this live, emergency address from the President." Scarlet said
"My fellow citizens, today our military forces launched an all-out assault against the headquarters of Dr. Eggman." (Scene shifts into the Thorndyke Mansion.) "Despite repeated warnings, Dr. Eggman has continued to threaten the peace and wellbeing of our nation." the President said
"This looks serious." Zee said
"We have to tell Sonic about this!" Cream said
(Zee and Cream stand up and leave while Cheese follows. Scene shifts to the base where the fight continues.)
"This conflict is unfortunate, but we cannot allow Dr. Eggman to achieve his goal of world domination. We must stop him now, before it is too late!" the President said
(Beacons and Sneezers continue their attacks against the military, naval, and aerial forces. A bomb is seen going off, opening an entrance into the base. Bartleby, Rouge, Topaz and the special forces enter. Scene changes to a military base, where missiles are being installed. Grizelda and Knuckles are seen hiding in one of the planes. Planes then take off. Scene shifts to the Thorndyke Mansion's garage.)
"Hey, Tails, let's go- huh?" Sonic asked
"Where did they go?" Zee asked
"How could they leave without you, Sonic?" Cream asked
(Chuck appears as he walks down the stairs.)
"Hi there, Sonic! Tails went flying with Amy and Chris and his friend, Frances. I'm not sure where. They left quite a while ago, so I don't think they'll be gone too much longer." Chuck said
"Argh... lousy time for a joyride!" Sonic said
(Scene shifts to Mr. Stewart in the Tingalin Villa who is seen picking up Chris' goggles.)
"These are the goggles I gave Chris. I hope he's okay…" Mr. Stewart said
(Scene shifts to Funfun in another area of the Tingalin Villa.)
"The wind's got us pinned down!" (Amy is seen hammering planks of wood down into the ground with her Piko Piko Hammer while holding on to the wood.) "Amy!" Chris shouted
"Don't worry, I'm almost there!" Amy shouted
(Meanwhile the X Cyclone stands up.)
"I won't let you win, Eggman!" Tails shouted
(Laughs.) "That measly machine of yours is no match for my robot!" Dr. Eggman shouted
"Oh yeah?!" Tails asked in rage
"Let's compete and see whose robot rules! Knocking the wind out of your puny X Cyclone will be a breeze!" (Eggman snaps his fingers, commanding Funfun to blow a stronger current. The X Cyclone gets pushed back. Eggman laughs.) "It seems Tails is way over his head!" Dr. Eggman said
(The dirt kicks up with the wind and sends the X Cyclone flying into the air. Scene shifts to Mr. Stewart driving along the field.)
"Huh?" (A pile of leaves fly into Mr. Stewart's car's windscreen.) "I can't see! It's like a tornado!" (Grabs a phone, dials a number and starts talking into it, albeit speaking in a different voice.) "Is this the Thorndyke Residence?" Mr. Stewart asked
(Scene shifts to the Thorndyke Mansion's garage.)
"Yes, that's right. Sorry? What did you say? Speak up! They're in Tingalin Villa?! Thanks a lot, I'll send someone after them right away!" Chuck said (Hangs up phone.)
"That sounded bad." Zee said
"Who was that, grandpa?" Cream asked
"He wouldn't say who he was... Chris needs your help at Tingalin Villa." Chuck said
"Right!" Sonic said (Sonic runs off.)
