A collection of short stories about saving the lives that make up Laramie. Each "chapter" is a COMPLETE story, with the saving theme in each. A collection of stories all featuring a day in the life of one of the Laramie characters, most all from the tv show but some from my imagination (you've met them before). Each "chapter" is complete and can be read alone. This "chapter" features Jess and his thoughts during his first day on the job at Sherman Ranch.

The posse leaves Laramie intending to bring back those responsible for hurting more than one citizen. And then something changes, leaving a member of the posse on the run.

Based on the episode 'The Marshals". What if Marshal McGary had a niece with him when Jess was hurt by the river that day? And her name was Naomi and she stayed in Laramie?

Jess is caught between Sheriff Mort on one side and his loyalty to Slim and his family on the other. The worst thing is that an answer is due in three days time.

Jess rides away to Utah to deliver horses. While he is away he is shot, robbed and left for dead. When he awakens he has amnesia but somehow he never looses his ties to Slim.

Does lightning strike only once or can it hit the same place multiple times? For the Sherman ranch, it seems as if the storm will never end.

Summary: During a family vacation to ST Louis, Andy Sherman becomes a big brother setting the stage for the most horrific life- altering episodes of the Sherman- Harper Ranch family.

How does a grieving rancher cope with railroad survey crews, nosy neighbors, and the ever- present ghost of his partner? As it turns out he has cards up his sleeve and a Mountain goat for a friend.

When Andy is injured in a cattle drive accident, Slim takes some time to reflect on his anger about the incident. Meanwhile, Jess is healing from the wounds left by a friend's betrayal, and contemplates forgiveness with the help of a stranger.

Yuma prison. Every time the name is spoken, contempt is on the tongue. It's hot, it's vile, it's death, and this is how it's described by men that truly belonged there. When two innocent men are sent there, they will find out what Yuma is really like. It's worse.

Jess has been living with the Sherman's for near on a year when a chance encounter at the saloon in Laramie reignites old fears and nearly destroys the new life he's tried to build.

Jess has only been at the Sherman Ranch a short time. Slim decides to send Jess to get a loan repayment even though Jonesy is not sure that they can trust the new ranch hand to return with the money. Jess gets the money, but he experiences some very strange things on his return trip to the Sherman Ranch. This story is now complete.

A mysterious woman from Slim's past, stage coach robberies, forgeries, and broken lamps converge at the ranch one spring.

Jess has likely been in countless gunfights. Some long and drawn out, some hard and fast. This gun battle might be Jess' hardest yet. But while his take on the matter would be interesting to hear, it is better told from the other side of the gun, as told through the eyes of another.
