Chapter 50: The angriest thing alive
Pawmo had never been so high up in the sky that he could see the trees below his feet. It was frightening to the tiny yellow electric mouse, so he took several deep breaths to stay calm. Bombirdier kept silent and kept flying the two Pokémon he was tasked to fly.
"Are you well?" Quaxwell asked, placing a wing on the electric type that couldn't stop looking off to the distance.
"I-I'm fine, just a little… uh," Pawmo cleared his throat and turned to his ally. "Anyway, how do you think we should get Tinkatuff? We can't talk to humans; they won't understand us."
"That is correct. They won't be able to understand us, so I suggest we go in there stealthily. We sneak our way to Tinkatuff's pokeball, and-"
"Forget all of your plans," Bombirdier said. "Look. The Humans' nest is on fire."
"What!?" Both Quaxwell and Pawmo cried out. They looked and saw the base had burst into flames. Bombirdier descended and landed in front of the entrance of the Team star base. They could see flames breaking down and gnawing away parts of Atticus's base bit by bit. Suddenly A large, intimidating shadow appeared in the middle of the inferno.
"NOPE. I'm out- Good luck!" Bombirdier spun around and flew away.
"H-Hey! Don't leave us here!" Pawmo cried.
"Pawmo- look..!" Quaxwell cried.
The large intimidating shadow that appeared slowly became smaller, and smaller, and smaller…until Tinkatuff emerged from the flames. Her eyes were covered in shadow as her head hung low.
Her hammer was not in her hands.
"T-Tinkatuff- you're safe!" Pawmo cried. Quaxwell smiled.
It was Tinkatuff, and her eyes were glowing pink.
"T-Tinkatuff?" Pawmo said.
Tinkatuff glared furiously. Her eyes locked on her allies with malicious intent.
"Pawmo!" Quaxwell cried. "I think she's- she's gone mad..!"
She screeched as she ran toward them with rage and threw a punch. Pawmo grit his teeth and closed the distance, catching both of Tinkatuff's flying pink fists and entering a deadlock.
"Y-You're right..! T-Tinkatuff's not herself..!" Pawmo cried. He turned his head to Quaxwell. "Quaxwell- douse the fires and save the humans in the base..! I'll distract Tinkatuff!"
Quaxwell nodded and ran into the inferno behind the two Pokémon struggling with each other.
"Tinkatuff- it's me- Pawmo! Pawmo! What happened to you!? Where's your hammer!?"
"BROKEN..! BROKEN!" Tinkatuff roared. "BROKEEEEEEN!"
Pawmo felt Tinkatuff overwhelming his grip. He had to do something. But whatever he had to do couldn't happen here.
Pawmo's body sparked and turned into a bolt of lightning that flew up into the air before U-turning to strike Tinkatuff from behind and send her further away from the flames.
The lightning bolt turned back into Pawmo, revealing that he drove his foot onto Tinkatuff's back as they flew and crashed onto a distant tree. Pawmo leapt from the tree and watched Tinkatuff fall off the tree and onto to her back.
A guttural enraged scream escaped the pink Pokemon's mouth before she stood back up and fired a Steel beam at Pawmo. Pawmo glared and shone with electric type power before he darted toward the beam, flying right over it and landing an ax kick on Tinkatuff's head to shut her mouth and stop the beam.
Electricity sparked the ground before the earth erupted under the weight of Pawmo's attack. on the head to shut her mouth and stop the beam.
Dust rose from the ground- enough to cover the air. Some of it got into Pawmo's eyes, and he shut his eyes just as Tinkatuff rose from the ground from under him. Pawmo tripped onto his back and Tinkatuff went on the offensive, mounting the mouse type Pokemon and landing a devastating gut punch. Pawmo cried out in pain as spit flew out of his mouth. Tinkatuff punched once- twice, three times, and the two pokemon went deeper into the earth with every strike.
Pawmo dodged the next punch that came for his face, and used that leverage to trip Tinkatuff onto the ground. Pawmo moved, putting himself on top of Tinkatuff and threw a punch of his own, only for it to miss.
The electric type's fist hit the ground beside her head, and before he could lift it up, the fairy type bit onto his arm. Pawmo yelped and kicked Tinkatuff's sides until she let go. Before Pawmo could throw another punch. Tinkatuff rose from the ground and headbutted the electric type onto the ground.
Pawmo had seconds to think about his next move as Tinkatuff began to approach him. He was running out of energy, fast. And Tinkatuff was still angry and raring to go. He had the edge when it came to close combat, but she clearly had him beat with stamina.
He couldn't win this fight.
So- one can't win a fight, and wants to survive, they can only do one thing.
Run.
Pawmo spun his body onto his hands and legs and started moving away as fast as possible. Tinkatuff started screaming and yelling as she kept charging like a wild animal.
"Bombirdier!" Pawmo cried. "Bombirdier- where are you?!"
No response.
That stupid bird really had abandoned him..! The sure-fire way to escape from this Tinkatuff- no, this demon was to get off the ground... but now he had to figure out another way.
He couldn't just run all the way to his trainer- he was too far, and Pawmo wouldn't have the stamina to get to his trainer in time before Tinkatuff could catch up and rip him to shreds.
This place around him was familiar, though. He'd been here before, he'd fought against Bombirdier with his trainer here before. So if his intuition was correct… he should be nearing Bombirdier's cave!
He could go in there, lose her in the cave, and as she's looking for him, go to the Pokecenter that was near the Bombirdier's cave and ask for help!
Pawmo nodded to himself as he just then neared the cave of Bombirdier. He went inside, and Tinkatuff stormed right after him.
The electric type found himself looking behind him every few seconds as he frantically tried to find a place to hide. His eyes spotted a tiny boulder big enough to cover his entire body- and he hid behind it.
He heard the frevorant footsteps of Tinkatuff, and saw her looking around. Her eyes were still glowing red with extreme rage. Pawmo was shivering in fear as he watched her look around for him.
Soon enough, Tinkatuff walked past Pawmo's hiding spot, and Pawmo hurriedly crawled toward the cave's exit. He was home-free...until suddenly, Tinkatuff let out a cry of frustration. Pawmo spun her head the moment she screeched and started firing Steel beams from her mouth.
"If Tinkatuff keeps firing like that, this place will cave in..!" Pawmo gasped and saw her firing the laser wildly, as she spun her head around- the laser plowed through the cave and started breaking it down. Just then, a stalactite, a rock the shape of an icicle that hung from the ceiling, was broken apart by Tinkatuff's beam and started to fall straight for her. Tinkatuff was none the wiser because she was so full of rage.
Pawmo leapt to tackle Tinkatuff out of the way- saving the Pink Pokémon just in time before the avalanche of rocks could crash and hurt her.
More rocks and debris from the warn down ceiling began to avalanche behind the two Pokémon, and soon became a pile of rubble huge enough to completely seal off the entrance.
They were stuck.
Almost as stuck together as Pawmo's lips with Tinkatuff's. When he had tackled the Fairy type to the ground, somehow, he had accidentally kissed the fairy type.
Pawmo pulled away immediately- blushing madly.
"I-'m sorry! I-I didn't mean to-..!"
Tinkatuff, blinked once, then twice, then three times before raising its upper body up.
"Wh-Where…Where am I..?" Tinkatuff said.
"T-Tinkatuff!" Pawmo cried. "You're- you're back to normal! What happened!?"
Tinkatuff looked around for a moment, then looked at the rubble.
"Why are we inside this cave!?" Tinkatuff cried. "Wh-Why do my.. lips feel so…"
"Uh-!" Pawmo looked away and blushed. "You went into an uncontrollable rage, we fought, and uh, I had to fight you, and your face probably dragged through the floor or something... and uh-.. A-Anyway-! You wouldn't listen to a word I said while we were fighting, and I had to run, we ended up here… and… I had to save you from those..rocks." Pawmo pointed at the rocks.
"...Oh." Tinkatuff said. "Huh."
"Do-...do you remember anything?"
"I remember what happened before I got angry... But I can't remember a thing about what made me angry or what happened while I was angry. "
"Thank Arceus." Pawmo mumbled.
"Huh?"
"Nothing! Nothing. Uh… can you explain what happened?"
"..Yeah- sure…but uh-...Could you give me a minute? I have this horrible headache.." Tinkatuff put her hand on her head.
Pawmo turned his head to the rubble that blocked their entrance, then back at Tinkatuff.
However long that rest she was going to have was going to be, she'd have plenty of time to explain what happened back there. Because who knew how long they'd be stuck there..?
Atticus's base was simmering with the smoke left behind from the doused flames. There were a lot of team star members that lay on the ground in front of the smoking base. Quaxwell wiped sweat off of his face sighed with relief.
"All done," Quaxwell said.
"What!?" Quaxwell spun as he heard the sound of a familiar human- the one that he and his trainer had recently beaten: Atticus. He ran toward his smoldering base and fell to his knees. "What foul creature could have possibly done this!?"
"...A-Atticus..." The groaning voice of a male team star member caught the leader's attention. Atticus spun around and ran over to them, crouching to their side and grabbing their hand.
"Speak to me, soldier!" Atticus cried. "Whom was it that caused this catastrophe?"
"It-...It was Tinkatuff...we couldn't stop her...she...was a steel type... none of our attacks worked..."
"How could a Tinkatuff do this!? They're creatures of mischief, but they aren't malevolent in nature...! Unless you somehow angered it to the point of it being unable to be reasoned with!"
"...Yeah... uh...we messed up badly. We-...broke Tinkatuff's hammer."
"You... Broke..." Atticus's eyes widened as he blinked. "Tinkatuff's...hamm-...hammeer.." Atticus lowered his head in shame. "How!?"
"Let me explain..."
