Waking up the next morning, Cat felt especially warm. The sunlight blared through the window and shone on her face, and the familiar haze of a hangover washed over her brain, so she knew she was at Jade's. So why was she so warm? Pushing her arms out to stretch them up, she realised she couldn't lift one, something heavy was stopping her from moving. Slowly, Cat tried to wiggle backwards, to make sense of it all. There was arm over her front, a hand spread on her chest, thumb just under her neck, and a body pressed to her back.
Jade West was spooning her.
Cat's heart couldn't help but flutter at this new sensation. The two girls had shared a bed a hundred times, and slept in the back of Jade's car a fair amount too. On the odd occasion they'd wake up with Cat laying on Jade in whatever position her comatose body had pulled her to, but Jade always slept still as a log. They never tried anything with each other, apart from that one time when they were 14, drunk and wanting to try out kissing before they went to Highschool. Still, Cat couldn't help but admit it was nice. Over the years she had slightly wondered what it was like to be a little closer to Jade, it kinda came with being Bi. You can't have a best friend that hot and not think about it at least once. Still, it was wrong. "Jade." Cat whispered, moving around a little to try and get the older girl to let go, that only made her hold tighter. "Jade!" She hissed a little louder. Nothing. The gentle rhythm of Jade's breath on Cat's neck continued at the same pace, she was well and truly asleep. Using her one free hand, the redhead reached out to grab her phone, checking the time, 6am, no wonder Jade was still asleep. There was no way Cat would go back to sleep now, they'd forgotten to close the blinds last night so the sun was well and truly blinding her now. There wasn't much she could do now apart from accept her fate and snuggle back into her best friend's arms.
Jade didn't remember her room smelling like strawberries when she fell asleep. Maybe Cat was already up and had put on her perfume. No that couldn't be right, her perfume was vanilla. Not that Jade smelt Cat very often it, well maybe she did, but it was only because that girl wafted into the room. It wasn't a bad waft of course, it was nice, like a polite warning that the redhead would be coming. Anyway, what was strawberry smelling? What was really strongly strawberry smelling? Opening her eyes, Jade's vision was crowded completely by red hair. Oh, that's the strawberry, Cat's shampoo. Cat must have shuffled back in the night. Jade moved her arm up and back, to check how much room was behind on the bed, to check she wouldn't fall backwards off it. Strangely there was a lot, like she was in the middle of the- where did she just take her arm from. "Oh my god." Jade said suddenly, realising where the rest of her body was. In the blink of an eye she was bolt upright. She'd been spooning Cat.
"Morning Miss Touchy-feely." Cat giggled, pushing herself up once she'd felt Jade finally wake up.
"What the- you've been awake- you let me- I'm so sorry-" Jade stuttered, unable to finish the last thought before starting a new one.
"You kinda had me trapped a little there." Cat dismissed nonchalantly, by this point she'd had 3 hours to accept what she'd woken up to and now didn't care. It was nice, that's all.
"You tell no one. You hear me?" Jade growled, pointing a finger at Cat as she finally got all her thoughts to settle into one.
"What that you decided to try and cop a feel in the night?" Cat pried, raising an eyebrow and giggling again. She'd decided to have some fun with this, it was so easy to rile Jade up sometimes.
"Valentine." Jade grumbled, her eyes narrowing.
"Fineee I won't tell anyone." Cat giggled again. "But I'll always know." She winked. She was joking, but Jade didn't need to know that. "I'm going to shower now that I finally have movement in my upper body again." She finished off, jumping out of the bed and walking towards the shower. "I'll leave the door unlocked if you wanna join."
"CAT!" Jade yelled, not enjoying the redheads game one bit, her face now a very deep red.
Once Cat had left the room, followed by a locking sound, Jade knew she was definitely joking. She was sure of it anyway but there was always a slight chance that she wasn't. Cat's actions and logic didn't always line up. "Oh God!" Jade yelled out, throwing herself back onto her bed, face buried in the pillow in embarrassment. Strawberries, she could smell strawberries again. And now vanilla too. It all smelt like her. It smelt so good- "What is wrong with me?" Jade asked herself, eyes wide. God she never acted like this about anyone, maybe a little about Beck when they were dating. But no this was Cat. Why on earth did her body do that? She didn't like Cat! She wasn't even into girls! It had to just be a reflex, of feeling another body in her bed and thinking it was Beck. That was it. That had to be it. She didn't like Cat. It was just a reflex.
Then why was she so worked up about it?
