A/N: Just a short chapter expanding on the events that Naya mentioned…

Naya was surprised when she received an invitation to Jacob's family house in Alicante. She thought he'd gone back to Cairo, after all, and she hadn't expected to hear from him any time soon. She'd stewed over it all day, before she finally wrote back to say that she'd go. There was still an uneasy feeling that she couldn't quite shake, and a guilty one too, as she knew that Devi didn't like him. This time she would go on her own, however, as she didn't plan on dragging Devi along. Her parents wanted her to stay on good terms with him, after all, and she was a little flattered to be asked. Mostly, she hoped it would just be benign conversation.

Not wanting to dress too fancy, she decided against a dress or a skirt, instead wearing long jeans and a short top. She used some large hoop earrings and bangles to accentuate her look, as well as some light makeup. Once she was satisfied, she made her way through the Portal and to his family house. Knocking on the door, she waited a little nervously, unsure of what to expect.

When he opened the door, his gaze lingered on her outfit, and she thought he seemed pleased. "Naya," he greeted smoothly, gesturing for her to come in. "I'm glad you could make it. And by yourself this time too."

Starting inside, she glanced at the entrance of the house in interest. "Thanks for inviting me," she said, waiting for him to close the door and lead the way. His last words were perhaps a dig at Devi, but she decided to brush it off for now. As he moved to the lounge room, she followed, sitting down on one of the brown leather couches. He sat nearby, but thankfully not right beside her.

"Of course," he replied, inclining his head, and passing her one of the two wine glasses from the table, before he picked up his own as well. He had certainly become more inclined to talk than he used to be. "I saw your parents again at a meeting the other day. They seem well."

She glanced at him briefly, before averting her gaze. It was hard to look at him and to not think of the things they'd done when they were younger. It brought up some conflicting feelings that she was still unsure about. "Yes, they often are. They thrive in their job. It's all they care about sometimes." She didn't mean to say so much, although it was too late to take it back.

"I don't doubt they care about their only child, as well," he responded, leaning back in his seat.

"Perhaps," she replied, although she was keen to direct the conversation away from herself. Taking a sip of her drink, she gathered from the colour that it was a red wine, and it had a strong taste that she wasn't exactly used to. "Why are you back in Alicante so soon?"

"I'm applying for a job here in Alicante," he replied, and she looked a little surprised. He talked so fondly about his own Institute, after all, always inviting her to go there.

"Are you?" she replied. "I didn't think you had any plans of leaving Cairo."

"My father has it under control at the moment," he explained. "And I figure that having a noteworthy Clave job will put me in a good position in their eyes to take over the Institute in the future."

"I see. It's good to have future plans like that," she acknowledged, although it made her feel a little bad that she had nothing sorted out. "What kind of job is it?"

"It's helping out the Clave with managing some things in Alicante. People coming and going, security, and things like that. It's not a bad job," he shrugged. "I'm sure I'd be able to manage it just fine."

"Yes, I'm sure you would," she nodded, not doubting that. She did think that he liked the practical side of fighting like herself, but she supposed this position would give him some more power in the Clave.

"And living closer will make it easier to see you more often," he said, meeting her gaze.

She blushed lightly. "I suppose it will," she said, taking another sip of her drink.

The conversation moved onto the New York Institute and what she was up to there. It was an easy enough topic to speak on, and she got a little caught up in it, before she realised that he'd risen to his feet. Placing his drink down on the table, he stepped over closer to her, to take her glass. Swallowing, she allowed him to, and he placed it on the table as well. Then, he reached for her arm, pulling her to her feet.

Swiftly, his lips met hers, and she returned the kiss once she'd gotten over her surprise, resting a hand against his shoulder. "I didn't come here expecting anything like this…." She said quickly, and he silenced her words with a finger against her lips.

"It's fine. There's nothing to worry about. We're the only ones here," he said, and he moved her backward until her back hit the wall, pressing his body against hers. The way his hands roamed her body was not gentle, but there was a want to his grip which she liked. It made her know that he wanted her. Her arms shifted to around his neck, and she sighed under her breath at the heat of his kisses. "It's been a while," he murmured, his gaze focused on her. "But you look even hotter than before."

She smiled slightly, arching her head back when he kissed her neck. "I would hope so, considering I'm older now. You still look… good yourself." She could still feel the muscles on his chest when she placed her hand there, and he still had the dark, mysterious look that he had all those years ago, only more mature this time.

His hands moved under her shirt, and she gasped lightly at the cold of his hands against her bare skin. "It is a shame that I didn't see you at the Academy," he said, brazenly. "Admit it, you would have gone there if it wasn't for him. We both know it would have set you up better with the Clave."

Stiffening a little at his words, feeling a little defensive of her parabatai as usual, she would have pulled back if she wasn't against the wall, with his hands still gripping her. "No. We chose not to go there," she said firmly, trying to keep her thoughts straight. "He didn't force me not to go." It had also been an act of defiance against her parents, but she wasn't game to say that aloud.

Jacob didn't look convinced, but he knew well enough from her unease and her expression that she didn't like the topic of conversation. "Okay, okay," he said, kissing her again, harder this time. "I get it."

She might have said more on the matter, but she grew quiet when he slid her shirt off, before reaching around to unclip her bra with ease, throwing them on the couch nearby. She felt a little self-conscious, but she tried to hide it, finding it easier to do when he leaned down to press a kiss to her chest, his hands lingering.

Pulling back after a long moment, he took her hand, nodding towards the stairs. "Come on. Let's go upstairs," he said, tugging her in that direction. She had thought that perhaps he was taking it a little slower this time, but maybe not.

She hesitated for a second, a guilty feeling remaining as she thought of Devi, before she followed him to the stairs, making her way up them.
