Peter Parker.
I didn't know how long to wait. What to wait for.
But I had resources.
So at the warning signal of the Sense, I was ready.
Firing the artificial web, redirecting the missiles fired at me into the sky.
The projectile detonated ten metres up in the trees.
- 'Good reaction,' came the voice of a Spider in a multi-coloured suit who had landed on the branch of a large tree. - Eight per cent higher than expected.
- What's going on here, Nerd? - I spread my arms out to the sides. - What the hell is going on here?
- Oh, so you remembered us," Stilyaga said in surprise, tilting his head to my shoulder. - How did you manage to do that? Or is it the Boss's merit?
- No," I put my fingers to my head. - My own research, caused by the desire not to let anyone else influence my mind. Enough! I've had enough...
- Oh," the Legendary clapped his hands together. - That's commendable," the man jumped down from the tree and stood fifteen metres away from me. - You know I don't want all this, right? I don't want to fight you?
- But you will," I nod confidently.
- I have no choice," Spider exhaled. - Our master is... Unimaginable, you have no idea what he's capable of.
- Something tells me that you yourself do not really understand what he is capable of, - I look confidently at my alternative. - And who he is, anyway.
- True," the cloaked man chuckled unhappily. - But I can be sure of one thing," Stilyaga took off his mask and looked at me with confidence. - He's interested in you, in a way I'd say he's obsessed with you... Or at the very least, he needs you for something.
- But for what? - I'm a little overzealous, even though I've given up controlling myself.
I don't know, I've never been the Nordic type. Emotions drove me, despite my intelligence, my training, my stamina.
When things get too personal, the coldness of reason wears off and the flames of emotion take over.
Perhaps that's why I'm in this situation now...
It doesn't matter. I'm me.
And I'm certainly not going to make excuses to anyone for it.
Especially not to myself.
- I don't know," Legendary averted his eyes uncertainly. - But we can use it!
- How? - I look at him incredulously.
- Do you think I like to play this role? - Spider spread his hands apart. - I'm doing just fine back home! I have a great life with MJ and Felicia, two beautiful daughters! I'm the leader of the Avengers, for crying out loud! Doom calls me friend, and Stark's looking to merge our companies to avoid bankruptcy! I'm a hero! Perfect... The Legendary Spider-Man! The one who is in the imagination of others the luckiest of us all! The fantasy of the "Peter Parker ideal" is my fucking life! - shouted Spider, as if he needed to let those emotions out for a very long time.
- But things aren't really that good, are they? - I tilt my head to my shoulder, practically copying the movement of my alternative. - I know exactly what reality is. And in reality, nothing is perfect. I know that from myself... so what's he using against you? What dirty secret? What mistake?
- You're good, kid," Legendary said respectfully, putting his mask back on. - Activate the Fly Velcro protocol.
After the adult doppelganger's words, my Sense roared.
Armed drones began to appear from everywhere, removing their holographic disguises and attacking me.
But I was awake, too.
- Karen, divide and conquer protocol!
- Roger that, Peter," the AI responded and went silent, leaving my helmet.
- "Divide and Conquer, how pathetic," Legendary grinned, webbing clinging to the jungle ledges as he flew over me.
- Oh yes, and "Fly Velcro" is a very modest and not at all sinister name," I replied, firing an electric web at the looming drones.
- To each his own.
Meanwhile, the Spiderbots were also in motion.
Some of my mechanisms had the task of expending charge to prepare force fields, others to create emi pulses. Still others were to try to hack into enemy frequencies.
Some had less... obvious tasks.
But it was the divide and conquer protocol that I was betting most on.
Behind me there was the sound of capsules opening.
I guess I was right.
- Okay, I didn't expect that," Legendary said, digging into his watch.
As my suits came out of their storage place, they inflated slightly, taking shape. Those who needed it did.
The lenses of their masks glowed neon green.
- Control level, Karen? - I asked the AI, changing a cartridge in one spiderweb for a freezing web.
- '100%, Peter,' replied the Iron Spider armour in a computerised female voice, clenching her palms together.
- Fine, then the drones are on you! - I command, rushing towards Legendary.
Drones and some kind of tentacle mechanisms rushed towards me, the cover suits under Karen's control quickly came to my aid.
- Ha, not bad, kid! - hummed Parker, flying aside with the help of the gravity discs in his suit. - Pam, activate it and transport it to my coordinates," the brown-haired man commanded his electronic assistant.
- Yes, Dr Parker," replied the mechanical voice in the cloak-and-dagger mask.
- Who were you talking to? - I shout to the doppelganger, trying to reach him by shooting webbing.
However, the Nerd simply cuts the threads with the blades that emerged from his wrists.
- My AI, along the lines of your Karen, don't bother, - answered honestly Stilyagya, sticking to the branch and hovering in an upright position. - Better answer me, what is our Sense?
- What? - I lose concentration for a second, naturally surprised.
Seriously, Bearer, you should do something about it, because talking about Spider Sense always has a way of throwing you off your game," the symbiote says.
I ignore Raj, however, recognising his point.
- That's what's bugging me," the Legendary began pacing the trunk of the tree, head down, as if preparing for a lecture. - Sense, in its various interpretations, has a completely incomparable scale of power as an ability. See," the cloaked man held up a finger. - Somewhere, Sense works like an instinct, tuning its owner to avoid danger. Somewhere it is a full-fledged sixth sense, predicting the intention to harm its owner, either immediately or after a short time. On either side and even with someone's surveillance and intent, such as revealing one's identity," Stilyaga continued to strut around with his hands behind his back. - Then the Web of Life and Destiny appeared. The stakes had risen. Now Sense is the thread that connects all the Spider-Men, avatars of the goddess Nate throughout the multiverse, well, you know the drill. However," Legendary turned round. - In the rare, very rare, canvass of events, it's still something more. You yourself should understand.
- Oh, I understand," I rubbed the fingers of my right hand against each other nervously. - Probably more than you realise.
- Maybe," Stilyaga nodded. - And HE understands that. He needs you for something along those lines. Remember the swirls of cobwebs behind us at the end of the throne room?
I didn't answer, however, silently considering what I had said.
My role in the Web of Life and Destiny?
Could it all be connected to them?
To him?
I paid attention to what was happening only at the moment when there was a loud scream.
I reflexively turned around.
My armour under Karen's control was still battling the Stilyaga drones. The spiderbots were doing their job.
In some ways, if you ignored the situation, it looked quite epic and large-scale.
However, I was distracted from these "film" thoughts by a repeated long shout.
Only this time the source was Zanuda.
- The boss doesn't seem to like the conversations I'm having," the brown-haired man grinned, taking off his mask and spitting blood. - Well, then, it's scripted.
After the Legendary's words, a yellow funnel opened in the sky above us.
And in a burst of lightning, a multi-tonne machine swiftly descended to the ground.
- Meet my Giant Spider Robot, or just Mech," Stilyaga shrugged his shoulders. - I know it's a bit of a mouthful, but we've always wanted a giant robot spider since the '94 cartoon, so yeah, I decided to live out the fantasy.
- Okay," I look at the robot with my head up. - You know, I destroyed something like this relatively recently, so I'm sorry, I'll have to do it again by breaking your toy.
I stretch my neck and activate Spider-Universe mode.
- Uni-Seal?! - It seemed that for the first time in a long time, Stilyaga looked genuinely shocked. - That wasn't in the plan! - The brown-haired man began digging sharply into his bracelet.
The watch.
It's the means by which they communicate, jumping dimensions.
It's how they dictate the rules of the game.
Breaking the plan = Dictating the terms themselves.
So I need that watch.
But before you do, you need to deal with the giant robot that's staring at you with less than friendly intentions, Bearer.
You're right, partner," I exhale, taking off and heading towards the Spider-Mech.
Away from Peter's attention.
- He has the Power of Enigma at his disposal," Legendary said irritably, making contact with his master.
- So do you," Unimaginable replied phlegmatically in a distorted voice.
- Not on this scale! - The brown-haired man tried to maintain a crumb of composure.
- 'Yes, I agree,' The One Who Sits on the Throne sighed. - 'It might interfere with the plan. Lock up ani...gma.
The cloaked man paid no attention to the strange second hiccup in the voice of the one he is forced to obey.
- My charge might not be enough...definitely not enough! - The bore once again swallowed the large emotion that was about to roll off his tongue.
- How annoying you are," Unimaginable sighed. - There is one way... However," The Legendary could have sworn that red lights flashed in the depths of the darkness of the robe. - There is a price to pay for everything.
But you are the one who benefits from clogging his power! - The brown-haired man almost shouted to himself.
- Are you here, Intelligent?
- Yes," Dr Parker exhaled, adjusting his cloak. - What do you need me to do?
Same here.
Spider-Man.
It's powerful, but it lacks agility," I pondered, dodging what were, admittedly, fairly quick lunges.
You have more power on your side, Peter," Ani said proudly.
I don't want to feed her ego, but I agree with the redhead, Bearer," Raj added.
Then I'll act.
Forming energy spheres in my palms, I tossed them at Mecha, and observed an unpleasant discovery.
Lasers. He's got lasers! - exclaimed the Klyntarian, seeing how the orange heat clots released by the giant mechanism from his eyes (or rather optical sensors) hit my spheres.
Not destroyed, but significantly weakened.
Yeah, Raj, I'm not blind... no offence to Matt.
Meanwhile, below us, a battle of our own was unfolding.
I could see what was happening through the symbiotic fabric.
And the picture was not a positive one.
There were a lot of spiderbots. A lot. It's all good. Only in vain. As I had noticed earlier, the mechanisms, my cameras on legs, only some of them generators of force fields and those not powerful enough. A good line of defence or delay. But not against real combat mechanisms, judging by the design, straight out of the Terminator films!
The superiority was provided by Karen in my control suits.
These babies were customised for this kind of confrontation.
And now they're making daddy happy.
I'm a healthier threat.
- All right, big fella," I'm speeding up, "that means more power!
The mech fires lasers at me, which I manoeuvre deftly between.
Often the weakness of these big guys is in the energy core.
Often, those not so clever at this (or just like to show off?) place this core on the robots' chests.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, my alternate copy was one of them.
Instead of the usual clots, I form a large sphere, repeating the molecular matrix, and launch a projectile straight into the core, creating a dozen smaller flash targets for distraction.
Even if Mecha was controlled by an AI like Karen, she couldn't match the absolute cosmic power of the truth concept.
The energy core exploded. The projectile reached its target.
The multi-tonne structure began to tumble backwards, and the diode illumination in the optical eyepieces began to go out.
- Well, that was it...
A hunch!
On the verge of a reaction, I noticed the Legendary, who flew into me like a torpedo.
I'm kicking the doppelganger.
I'm trying to.
He's on me like a tick!
- Get off!
I let out my pointed Klyntar tendrils and pierce the alternative in twenty places, no less.
After this, you're gonna have to let go.
- Not bad, kid," the brown man waggled his chin as his wounds healed before my eyes.
The most impressive thing, however, was the healing wounds in the head area.
The crusty healed brain is... quite a sight...
Overdoing it, Bearer," Raj's apologetic voice flickered on the edge of consciousness.
- Rege...ARGH! - I clutched at my chest, interrupting my question.
It was like a red-hot iron had been shoved into my solar plexus.
- 'Yeah,' Legendary flopped tiredly on his arse right in front of me, 'you're rambunctious.
- What... What's going on? - I asked, breathing hard.
Carrier! - exclaimed the redheaded space entity.
Ani?!
Carrier! - The echo of the spark's repeated scream was many times weaker than the previous one.
And then it fell silent.
And my cosmic cover drained away.
- ANI?! - looking at my side-holding version of the future. - WHAT DID YOU DO?!
- I had to sweat, and I had to pay for it, - Stilyaga. his whole body began to fade and shake like a half mangled pixel half smoke. - Cosmic Force... not a bad trump card, took me out of the game, bravo," the brown-haired man took off his mask and coughed. - But now you're without it, and even if you don't care," the man's mouth spurted blood, "you can consider the 'battle with the boss' with me as the antagonist, you're through, little man.
I rush over to the doppelganger and grab him by the collar of his suit.
- What did you do to her?!
- Destroyed," Spider smiled condescendingly. - Well, sorry, nothing lasts forever.
With each word he became more and more transparent.
At the last moment, I snatched the Spider bracelet off his wrist.
- You're right, there's no such thing," I put the device back on. - Goodbye.
The last thing I saw in my doppelganger's eyes before he completely dissolved was a kind of desperate fear mixed with... confession?
No time to ponder, since I'm in some crazy interdimensional arena.
I turn around and see that some of the suits are chipped. Iron Spider's armour is missing an arm and one of the manipulator legs. Version two is halfway through the paint job. Otherwise, it's more or less in order.
At least 75% of the Spiderbots have been turned into scrap metal.
But Legendary's robo-support was swept away.
A1 armour pierced the hull of the last drone and turned its mask towards me.
- What's next, Peter? - Karen's computer voice rang out.
- We're about to find out," I lowered my eyes to the bracelet, and immediately my stomach began to suck under my spoon.
That sickening feeling, like something bad is coming.
And then, to top it off, the Sense rang out.
But that's when I realised I wasn't in the jungle anymore.
A transference you can't even react to..." Raj finally joined in, surprised and shocked.
* In the jungle.
At the same moment.
- Peter? - The A1 armour, under Karen's control, swung its helmet from side to side confusedly.
The remaining suits repeated the same motion, followed by the surviving Spiderbots. Commentary on Chapter 186. The Final Round. Part 1. Mind * Stilyaga Drones .ru/i/fKAzpRZ46SGQ3w; .ru/i/5tbj0Wjq0y1Jwg
