Castle.
Peter Parker.
Yes, Raj, it's amazing.
Squeezing my tired eyes with my index finger and thumb.
- Where are we now? - I start to look around and literally freeze when I see whoever's been waiting behind me.
- Yeah, you're my headache now, kid," grinned the Spider in red without a mask, sitting at the table and propping his head with his fist, resting his elbow on the tabletop. - Again.
- YOU! - I lunge at the Irresponsible One, unleashing clintar tentacles, but the massive gust of black alien fabric is interrupted by a wall of similar, only in red.
- Easy, cowboy, - my alternative deftly twisted and, grabbing the sturdy wooden chair he was sitting on, he smashed the piece of furniture against my back. - I see Zanuda didn't manage to knock the military pride off you, huh? - Red started boxing jokingly after he tossed aside the wooden legs, all that was left of the chair.
However, this childish lunge made me truly furious.
Growling, I let out my stingers and began to club bioelectricity through the space of the bony outgrowths.
- I get it, we're in no mood for jokes," the Irresponsible One snorted and, after making a few unfurling passes with his hands, created copies of himself that spread throughout the room. - Our technician had mechanical sex toys, I prefer a more natural approach," grinned one of the men, leaning back against the stone wall of the spacious hall, the source of light in which were strange glowing minerals and the fire in the usual fireplace.
'Magic,' Raj broadcast with distaste.
- You didn't think it would be that easy, did you? - The remaining copies grinned after the impaled doppelganger dissolved into a white cloud of magical essence.
But before I could answer, a spatial flash lit up the room.
- I hope you don't want company here? - A sneer rang out.
And it was a voice I was happy to hear.
- Benji! - I turned to my son.
Some inner paranoia told me this could be another Motherfucker trick.
But my gut was silent.
And I know when my son is my son, not an illusion.
- WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! - bellowed angrily at Future Spider Red, destroying his copies, once again leaving us the only opponent in the room.
The appearance of your offspring seems to have irritated that clown to no end," Raj whispered.
And only further convinced me that Benji was real.
I stepped closer to my son, still watching the pissed-off version of myself, but despite the circumstances, I hugged Ben anyway.
- How did you end up here?
- A little bit... Okay, a lot of help from Jen, a tracking system here, luck there, Madame Web showing up here...
- Madame Web?
- All later, Dad," Silver pointed at the Spider in red, "we still have to deal with this guy, after all.
Suddenly, as if in a fucking film (although another definition would be more appropriate), I realised the full scale of what was happening and who was across from us.
- Go home," I said sharply, and I took the bracelet off my wrist and put it on my shocked son's arm. - I don't know what was in that old woman's head to send you here, but you need to leave, now!
- WHAT?! - Ben yanked his hand away. - After everything we've been through, after ALL the talk about trust, you're chasing me away?!
- Excuse me, are we forgetting anyone?
Listening to another call of Sense, I jump aside from the powerful plume of fire directed at my son and I.
Arachnid also heeded the warnings of his own gut and mirrored the jump.
We found ourselves at opposite ends of the room.
And in the centre, on the sweeping floor, stood Red.
- I'm outnumbered," the brown-haired man grinned, brushing back his auburn fringes. - Let's even up the numbers," Irresponsible turned to me. - I borrowed a trick from the past.
With a wink, Red spread his arms out to the sides and his symbiotic uniform went into motion.
The bloody Clintar material separated from the host, becoming a normal wriggling substance.
Red himself appeared in a cloth suit that completely mimicked the design of the Superior Spider-Man.
- Fass," the brown-haired man commanded, shaking his head in Benji's direction.
The red substance, a viscous space, as if it were a skittish blot, wiggled and crawled very quickly towards the Arachnid.
- Son!
I try to get closer, but Red opens a magical portal right in front of me.
Reaction is enough, I stop before falling into the vortex, except that Irresponsible is also not the first year in the business and his magical copy appears behind me, pushing me into the portal.
I fall out in a dilapidated, dusty room, managing to get my webbing caught on the ceiling.
I descend from the ceiling to the floor on the threads.
- Once again, our languid rendezvous is uninterrupted," the brown-haired man said, calmly stepping out of the portal, the same one that had carried me through.
- If you think your mindless symbiote knockoff can hurt Benji... - Oh, the suit will just hold him off while we have fun," he held up his sparkling palms.
Creating several transparent weaves, Motherfinder launched them in my direction.
I dodge, jumping onto the wall.
- I don't know if Zanuda gave you any "fascinating" lecture, but I have something to tell you...
- He did," I jumped off the wall, snagging the sofa with my organic web and launching the furniture at the Irresponsible One. - Before it split," Red defended himself with a purple magical shield. - I can't say I got a thrill out of dealing with him, but I certainly don't plan on listening to your rants!
- Oh, boy, you're hurting the old man in the heart," the brown-haired man put his palm to his chest, sneering. - Is there any remnant of conscience still bubbling in your skull?
- I don't sleep with my daughters! - I throw, hoping to get Red.
At least I got the Legendary to get emotional.
- Wait ten or fifteen years, and we'll resume this conversation when they look like their mothers," Red grinned broadly, not once embarrassed by my remark.
The condescending attitude made me flare up.
Growling, I lunged at Irresponsible, just as I had the first time.
- Naked emotion and no control," the brown-haired man said, dodging. - It's so easy to make you mad, to redirect your own weapons," Red grabs my arm and throws me over him. - Does this topic really get to you that much?
- My own daughter," I clench my palm into a fist. - My own child, you stupid arsehole!
- You're such a sissy," Irresponsible rolled his eyes. - Come on! I'm you, don't forget! - the doppelganger dodged my lunge. - And in general, here's a secret about relationships with women - they always want a daddy, - motherfucker winked at me. - And you yourself indulged in such fantasies.
- Fantasies, - non-committal reasoning, that's one thing. Harmless. Your actions are quite another! - I'm getting up, stretching my neck.
- But you admitted what was, you see," the brown man shook his finger. - You are not so sinless, Lancelot.
- I have sins like everyone else," I backed myself up with magic, setting the momentum and throwing myself at Red. - But I do my best to keep my vices in check, and you're BELIEVING them!
Irresponsible fires web-like threads at me, which I destroy with symbiotic manipulation.
- By the way... - Red folds his palms in a triangle and creates a dome that covers us both. - I completely forgot about the favour I promised you.
- Wha-
The brown-haired man approaches me abruptly and punches me in the stomach with his fist.
From the unexpected force of the blow and the pain that followed, I cringe, squeezing my eyes shut.
Then I open them again.
That faint darkness.
My inner world.
- A host?
I turn round and see his silhouette in the shape of a black suit.
But I don't have time to answer the Klyntarian.
The Irresponsible One appears right behind my partner.
- RAGE!
I want to believe that my brother realised that he heard me, that if misunderstanding could be reflected on his face, it wouldn't be there...
Right before my eyes Red stabbed my symbiote with some kind of astral blade...
- NO! - I shout in the real world.
- That's it," the brown-haired man shakes off his palm contentedly, jumping away from me.
Raj! RAJ! - I try to mentally call out to my partner.
I raise my palm and create a symbiotic blade.
It's working.
Harnesses of black Klyntarian matter extend from my body.
Just like before.
- What have you done to him?! - I lash out at Red, unleashing the full force of the symbiotic tissue.
And given that its power is getting greater from my negative emotions... that bastard is going to suffer.
- Whoa! - the brown man took his head away from the elastic whip. - 'Take it easy, pretty boy,' Irresponsible wrapped himself in a lilac protective cocoon of energy spikes. - I only did what I said I would do back then, during our first meeting, remember?
And I did remember.
- No... - shaking my head from side to side. - You said you needed special tools for that!
- Like so many other things in that conversation, kid," Red shrugged, "I lied.
The realisation makes me fall to my knees.
- You couldn't have...
RAJ! ANSWER THE HELL OUT OF YOU! OTHER!
- But look at this," the man spreads his arms out to the sides. - Now you're in full possession of the symbiotic substance, with no extra parasites in your skull," the brown-haired man tapped his finger on his temple.
- He wasn't a 'parasite,'" I raise my eyes to Red.
The objects in the room begin to shake.
- What are you doing? - Looks around at my alternative.
I ignore the question.
- He was my mate! - The wave that dispersed from me scatters all the objects in the room, splitting them as if by a vacuum vortex. - My brother! - The irresponsible one is tossed aside. - PART OF MYSELF!
A powerful telekinetic wave sweeps forward, driving Red into the wall.
I don't stop, and the wave moves on.
I can feel the blood trickling down my chin.
But I don't care.
Every second that this bastard is crushed into the wall, pushed forward, thrown to another level, crumbling the thick stone into dust, and repeating the process is worth every burst capillary.
The last stone wall crumbles, and we find ourselves in the same hall I was transported to.
Red crumples to the floor as we find ourselves in the centre of the room.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Benji dodge the symbiote's attacks ten metres away.
- How you get attached to the usual reinforcing gifts from the universe," the brown-haired man grumbled, spitting up blood and struggling to get up.
I moved closer and clenched my palm into a fist, crushing the Irresponsible One with the full force of my telekinesis.
- Get down! - I step on the doppelganger's torso, gritting my teeth.
- How formidable we are," the brown-eyed man continued, grinning. - My school...
- Shut up! - I turn sharply and, throwing my arm out, throw Red back like a rag doll into the surviving section of wall we've just come from.
* - Gods, how strong I was back then..." Red mumbled to the side, fumbling for his communicator. - Boss, the kid's strong. Too strong. Unexpectedly too much.
- You too," Unimaginable exhaled tiredly. - What's going down, what's going up?... Move the bracelet to your chest, I will transfer the power of the Intelligent One.
Without asking any further questions, Peter did as he was told.
* Climbing up behind Red.
- Dad!
I'm distracted by the call, and turn to Benji, who continues to bounce back from the symbiote's attacks.
For some reason, the image of this substance causes unexpected heartache...
I point my telekinesis at the false symbiote and nail the slime to the floor, restraining every molecule of it (at least to my senses) with telekinesis.
- Give me your hand," I grab his elbow without waiting for my son's reaction. - The bracelet is fine, why didn't you teleport?!
- Because I want to help you! - the teenager wrenched his arm away. - This is it, Dad! This is what the Almighty sent me to do! This threat isn't just to our family, any of us, it's to the unifying centre," the brown-haired boy poked me in the spider emblem. - You've been the target all along. And if you think I'm going to leave you alone, against them all, then wouldn't you go...
- I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU! - I desperately interrupt my son, on the verge of hysterics, venting my accumulated emotions.
After my loud scream, there is silence.
- We do all this in spite of fear," Benji says quietly. - Because it's our strength. Because it's our responsibility. That's what you've taught me since I was a kid.
I don't have time to say anything back to my son.
My instincts kick in.
We turn towards the wall where I sent the Motherfucker.
Abruptly, the bloody slurry relieves the pressure and heads that way.
- Ooh, fucking light, that's better! - Holding onto the wreckage, Red laughs. - I feel like I've been fucking pumped full of redbull! WHOO!
His aura has changed...
The symbiote is merging with its host.
- So, what's it gonna be, girls, round two? - Grinned Irresponsible with the red mask of his symbiotic cover. Commentary on Chapter 187. Final Round. Part 2. Emotion Chapter 188. Final Round. Part 3. The Path to Darkness
