Beginning AN: here it is the next chapter. thanks for being patient readers. I've been having fun playing Sonic X Shadow Generations and not to go too far into spoiler territory for those who haven't played the Shadow Generations side of the two game bundle it's overall a bittersweet reunion of Shadow and Maria and Gerald Robotnik is there as well. now in this chapter I'm going to open it with an exposition of the history of the Knuckles tribe of echidnas and the chaos emeralds for those who never got around to playing the first Sonic Adventure game. now on with the story.

Chapter 4: Journey to the Arc.

In this world there's seven mystical gems called Chaos Emeralds. each one has unlimited power but when brought together they can perform miracles depending on the user. they can be used to power weapons of mass destruction, bring the dead back to life or even give the user access to more power than they can achieve on their own. but even the Chaos Emeralds need something to keep their power in check that something is known as the Master Emerald.

the Master Emerald alone is not enough to keep the Chaos Emeralds in check there's a prayer that has to be recited to request the Master Emerald to keep the power of the Chaos Emeralds in check which goes as: "The servers are the seven chaos, chaos is power, power enriched by the heart, the controller is the one the unifies the chaos." and then saying the request "please stop the Chaos Emeralds" and then the Master Emerald will do just that.

a long time ago at least 4000 years to be exact the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald were under the care of a tribe of echidnas called the Knuckles tribe and the guardian of the Master Emerald was the ancestor of Knuckles the Echidna her name was Tikal and she hated violence with a passion but the peace couldn't last Tikal's father Pachamac was the Chief of the Knuckles tribe and he desired power to control all of the echidna tribes and so he lead a raid on the shrine of the Master Emerald and while Tikal tried to reason with him it was for naught and so Pachamac and his team of Echidna warriors stormed their way to the shrine pushing Tikal and the local chao aside but that would be their last fatal mistake.

there was another one guarding the Master Emerald and Chaos Emeralds he was known as Chaos the god of destruction and Pachamac's actions angered Chaos to no end. as a result the Shrine of the Master Emerald broke off from the island where the Mystic Ruins is and became known as Angel Island.

with Chaos wreaking havoc on the world Tikal recited the prayer and asked the Master emerald to stop Chaos and it does but the cost was that Tikal was sealed in the Master Emerald with Chaos.

in the modern day Chaos was unleashed on the world again this time by Dr. Eggman and through a series of events Chaos is defeated by Sonic the Hedgehog who had to use the Chaos Emeralds to calm down Chaos and he succeeded.

Chaos and Tikal return to the inside of the Master emerald and that's the end of the backstory of the Master Emerald, Chaos Emeralds and the Knuckles tribe (I know that Sonic Frontiers retconned this a little but I'm keeping it to this because Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 take place years before Sonic Frontiers)

on Angel Island Knuckles The Echidna keeps constant vigilance in watching over the Master Emerald until one day Rouge tries to lay claim to the Master Emerald since she's a fanatic of gems and the Master Emerald is no exception.

while Knuckles and Rouge are arguing Dr. Eggman tries to steal the Master Emerald like he once did before during the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles.( it's arguably the greatest 2D Sonic game of All time go play it if you want more details)

but Knuckles shatters the Master Emerald by punching it before Dr. Eggman can get away which initiates a treasure hunting contest between Knuckles and Rouge and they eventually meet up with their respective allies.( I'm not going to make this chapter longer than it has to be go play Sonic Adventure 2 for more details)

meanwhile with Maria, Amy, Tails and Sonic

after Tails defeats Dr. Eggman at Metal Harbor in a Mech fight she, Maria, Amy and Sonic chase down the President of G.U.N on Route 99 and go to a hidden shuttle launch base in a Pyramid meet up with Knuckles and take a shuttle ride to the Space Colony Arc.

before they go to the Space colony Arc Tails, Amy and Maria go to a Chao Garden and Maria hatches a chao that she names Lily as a tribute to her mother who was killed in front of her by Voldemort. by the time the shuttle to the Arc was ready for lift off Lily has evolved to a Hero Chao and has learned several skills such as flying, drawing, playing the tambourine, playing the maracas, singing, walking and even talking.

Maria and Lily also built an unbreakable familiar bond which means Lily will follow Maria anywhere like Cheese and Chocola do for Cream the Rabbit.

Lily has a blue body and yellow halo over her head. she also wears a purple dress and Mary Janes sized for a chao.

Meanwhile with Dr. Eggman, Rouge and Shadow

Dr. Eggman decides to display the power of the eclipse cannon and as a result half the moon is blown up. Shadow isn't as hellbent on taking revenge on the world as he was in the canon timeline but he's going along with it simply because he knows Maria and her new friends will come to the Arc to bring the adventure to an end. at the very least he's happy that his best friend is making new friends and not having just him as her only friend.

Ending AN: That's the Chapter. sorry if it's a little short but I couldn't think of any script that has the characters exchange words. but don't worry the next chapter will have some exchange of words such as the iconic words Sonic said to Shadow before they had their final fight of the adventure.

Next Time: the events of Sonic Adventure 2 start coming to a head.
