Reyna POV:

I sit by the fire, enjoying its warmth. The crackle of the burning wood is calming. I take a deep breath, it's getting late. I'm very tired, but I have to wait. Artemis, the leader of our group, has an announcement. It's almost midnight. Will she ever show?

I should probably explain what The Hunters of Artemis is. The Hunters of Artemis is a rebel group fighting against the Solar Kingdom's royal family. It all started when King Apollo took the throne. He tends to take punishments too far. What should have just been a prison sentence, ends up being a death sentence. He kills almost everyone who commits a crime. He says he needs to eliminate all bad in his kingdom, so there's only peace. Most people believe that he's right, but some don't.

Just then, Artemis arrives. Me and all the other hunters stand up to show our respect. Artemis is wearing a simple black pantsuit, with her hair in two braids down her back. She has her crescent moon headband on.

"You can all sit." Artemis commands. Everyone obeys and listens to what she has to say. "We exist to fight against the Solar Kingdom, which is ruled by my brother Apollo." We all nod, this is common knowledge. "Well," Artemis says, just as I see someone who's late sitting down, "I've decided to send spies. It will be a very dangerous mission. I will need three people to disguise as maids to get more information. I will announce who now." Artemis clears her throat, and continues. "I will have Reyna, Thalia, and Ava."

Those who were called stand up. That included me, a girl with dark hair, dark blue eyes, and punk clothes who's my age. She's the one who was late. And a girl with blonde hair, green eyes, and looks like she's probably a year or two younger than me. Everyone cheers for us, because getting chosen for a mission is a big honor.

"You three shall introduce yourselves to each other and prepare to leave tomorrow. Good night everyone." Everyone stands and bows to Artemis. She nods and turns to her tent. Everyone stays standing until she's gone. We all break out in whispers and people start leaving while I go meet the other girls I am to go on the mission with.

"Hello, I'm Reyna, born in the Passion Kingdom. When the Abandoned started fighting against them, my family moved to the Solar Kingdom. I joined the Hunters a year ago." I hold my hand out for one of the two girls to shake. The punk girl grabs it.

"I'm Thalia, nice to meet you." Thalia lets go of my hand. "I come from the Sky Kingdom. I ran away and came to the Solar Kingdom. Then, two years ago, I joined the hunt." Thalia turns to the last girl, who must be Ava. "And who are you?"

"I'm Ava. I lived my whole life in the Solar Kingdom. My family was very poor, so my parents stole a lot." Ava's eyes become glassy. "They stole so much throughout the years that when they got found out, they were killed. That's why I joined the hunt." She wiped her eyes. "I joined three years ago, and I'm currently 17."

That made sense. She was about a year younger than me. I hold my hand out to her and she shakes it. "Nice to meet you." I tell her. We talk for a bit about the adventure that lies ahead. Everyone else is gone when Thalia speaks.

"It's getting late, I'm heading in. Good night." Thalia says as she turns to head for her tent.

"I should go too, we've got to leave early tomorrow. Best of luck!" Ava flashes me a smile, then goes to her tent as well.

I stand by the dying fire, and breathe in the gray smoke. I walk over to the edge of the hill we've set up camp on, and sit down. I admire the huge city that is the Solar Kingdom. The gravel roads and little shops, life seems simple down there. I then turn my head to look at the huge yellow and white palace, and feel small compared to it. I wonder what life is like inside the castle. I'll find out tomorrow.

I lay down on my back and admire the moon and stars. They are sacred to the Hunters. I look for constellations in the dark sky. I look at the crescent moon, and hope that everything goes well on our mission. I pray for sleep, for tomorrow will be a long day.
