The nothing1: Yep.

zakrhinosaurus: Yeah, I would consider Manda a Tidal Class Dragon myself.

DJ Rodriguez: No problem. I shall keep Mala in mind.

I feel like hearing Hiccup scream like that would be both chilling and tear inducing because we rarely hear him like that.

The moment with Gothi was inspired by Moana, believe it or not.

As for the scene of Gobber and Stoick, the blacksmith doesn't want to believe Hiccup is to blame, but he didn't want to argue with Stoick either.

Guest: Yeah, Berk will return in later chapters.

LORD DESTRYUK: Knowing Mildew, no probably not.

Qua Zorki: Thank you.

FlyingBoxtroll: Thank you.

Now, on with the story.

Chapter 13: Welcome to the Land of the Rising Sun

For the next few months, Hiccup explored the lands beyond the Archipelago with Toothless, Gojira and Sharpshot. They stopped on islands to hunt for food and rest. He flew past the Meatheads and the Bog Burglars along with the other Viking Tribes like the Berserkers and the Outcasts.

Eventually, the group left the territory of Viking lands and ventured into new lands altogether. Hiccup made sure that they stayed out of sight of any villages while following Gojira. Apparently the Saurian had traveling this way before.

And these lands had few dragons, Hiccup had noticed. Intriguing.

They had flew/walked through and over endless forests, vast plains and miles of sand with mountain ranges before coming on a stretch of water that Gojira seemed to recognize before roaring at them with an excited Saurian smile before jumping into the water.

It wasn't long before they came onto a land mass that was made of a collection of islands and a main land.

With excitement, he, Toothless and Sharpshot followed Gojira, hurrying to explore this new unknown land.

What he didn't know was that this land was going to change his life forever. This land was of warriors who could rival the Vikings with their prowess. This was the land of Samurai called the Land of the Rising Sun.

This was Japan.

The Night Fury-Terror-Rider trio landed beside a river that Gojira had swam upstream in upon arriving at this new land. Hiccup dismounted Toothless and stretched his stiff muscles. Riding Toothless for long hours was a strenuous process and Hiccup was glad that Gojira had led them to this landmass. Said Saurian walked out of the river, his head moved left and right, looking excited to be here.

"So, you've been here before? I assume you've lived here before coming to Berk?" Hiccup asked his large Saurian companion, getting an excited nod in response. He looks to Toothless and Sharpshot. "What do you think, Bud? Sharpshot? A nice place to explore?"

The Night Fury and Terrible Terror looked up from drinking water in a stream nearby and nodded to their human rider and Alpha.

Hiccup smiled back and knelt down to drink from the river as well with Gojira following his lead. Once the three of them drank their fill, Hiccup turned around and walked to the forest, Toothless and Gojira walked after him with Sharpshot curled up on Toothless' saddle.

Hiccup made notes of all the plants, animals and birds he had seen in his notebook as he walked. He also noted that the temperature was more warmer compared to what he was used to in the Barbaric Archipelago.

Before he could ask Gojira if there were any dragons in this place, a loud roar was heard in the distance. It was familiar yet different at the same time. "That was definitely a dragon, right?" he asked, a bit eager to see a new dragon.

Both Toothless and Gojira did not share his eagerness, they tensed at hearing the roar while Sharpshot hid with a satchel compartment on the Fury's saddle while the black dragon and large Saurian nodded to Hiccup nonetheless.

Hiccup's smile faded however when he heard someone screaming in terror in response to the roar. His eyes widened. That could only mean one thing. Someone was being attacked by a dragon. He quickly got onto Toothless and said, "Come on, Bud. We have to help them."

Toothless growled affirmatively before running to the direction of the roar and scream, Gojira following close behind. Soon the Dragon-Rider-Saurian trio broke out of the trees and stopped at the top of a hill.

Down at the bottom of the hill, Hiccup saw a small village. From here, he could see villagers running around in panic as dragons of all sizes attacked them. The dragons circled above before diving down to carry off livestock or light houses on fire.

He had seen enough. "Okay, guys, we have to help." he declared to his Saurian and Night Fury companions.

Toothless and Gojira growled in agreement before they charged down the hill to the under siege village.

As they approached the village, Hiccup took note of the dragons and their appearance. They all seemed bear resemblance to serpents of all sizes with short limbs and wings, a row of thin spines running down their backs, horns on their heads with whisker like appendages on their upper lips.

Wow, never thought I see a dragon with whiskers, Hiccup thought to himself in surprise before shaking his head to focus. He points to a dragon. "Stop that dragon with the sheep!" he told Toothless who quickly complied, firing off at the dragon who was targeting the sheep with precise aim, the Night Fury hit the dragon in the back of the head, distracting it enough for the sheep to run away.

SSKKKRRRRREEEEEEEEOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOONNNKK!

Gojira let out a roar to announce his presence. He sees warriors with familiar armor notice his presence while most of the dragons seemed to ignore his roar. Then he sees a young villager running from a large wingless dragon that was chasing her on foot.

Roaring again, Gojira charged forward and slammed his head into the neck of the dragon, knocking it away from the villager who tripped and rolled before Gojira's foot stomped where she was moments ago. She looked up and saw who and what had attacked her dragon pursuer.

"Wada Tsumi. . . Gojira da." she whispered.

The dragon rose up and roared at Gojira who roared back. The dragon and Saurian roared at one another, trying to get the other to back off.

The confrontation seemed to get the attention of every dragon and villager, Hiccup noted as he and Toothless landed near the villager that Gojira had saved. Most of the people were speaking in a language he didn't understand but he did hear a few saying, "Gojira."

Gojira charged forth after seeing that the dragon was not backing down. He bit down on the dragon's neck and shoved her down to the ground.

Growling, the dragon rose to her feet and tried to pull herself out of Gojira's jaws, but the Saurian's grip was not easy to get out of.

The dragon eventually shoved Gojira back, her thick scales thankfully took no damage from Gojira's teeth. She hissed at the Saurian who snarled back. She lunged forward and bit on Gojira's neck while coiling her long body around his like a snake.

Gojira gritted his teeth as he felt pressure building on his rib cage and neck. He roars out in defiance before running forward and slamming his body against a couple of trees. The dragon roars in pain from the impact and Gojira jumped high into the air and rolled on the ground, his dorsal fins sliced at her stomach.

Gojiran and the dragon rose to their feet and roared at each other.

"Gojira! That's enough!" Hiccup called out as he ran up until he stood between his Saurian and the wild dragon. He turned to the dragon and spread his arms out to show he had no weapon. His dagger was in Toothless' saddle.

This was a risky move. Most dragons wouldn't attack an unharmed human, but Hiccup didn't know anything about these dragons. For all he knows, they could be highly aggressive. Still, he decided to chance it.

"Hey, there." he greeted as calmly as he could. He noticed this dragon lacked any whiskers or fur on the underside of its jaw. Almost like how women don't have facial hair like men do. "Easy, big girl. I mean you no harm."

The dragon stared at the strange human that stood before her with no weapon. The Saurian standing behind him seemed to glare at her as a small black dragon she had never seen before walked to stand beside the human and glared up at her. Were they ready to defend the human from her?

Before she could ponder or question this, a roar from her colony drew her attention. The colony was leaving now. She glanced to the human one last time before running after her retreating colony before she dove into the nearby river.

Gojira roared after the retreating dragons as Hiccup sighed in relief that they didn't have to fight the dragons for much longer.

He turned around and approached the girl that remained on the ground. She curled up into a ball at one point and didn't look up. Hiccup knelt down to her and touched her shoulder. "Hey, hey. Are you okay?"

The girl opened her eyes and looked up to see Hiccup kneeling before her with a look of concern. He saw that the girl was around his age with dark brown hair and eyes. He also noticed that her clothes looked a bit extravagant and very clean save for the dirt at the bottom of her clothes. This gave the exiled Viking a feeling that she wasn't a normal villager.

She stares up at him before speaking, "Anata wa daredesuku?"

Hiccup stared at her before stating while rubbing the back of his neck, "Okay, I'm guessing we don't speak the same language."

The girl tilts her head up at him before her eyes widened and she yelps, "Kiwotsukete! Doragon! Anata no ushironi!" jumping back. Slightly confused, Hiccup turned around and saw that she was looking at Toothless.

"No, no. It's okay. He's a friend." He said to her before remembering what he just said not even thirty seconds ago. He reached up and petted Toothless on his snout to demonstrate.

Toothless, who sensed the girl's distress and fear, tried to smile at her with a croon in greeting. Then Sharpshot poked his head out of the satchel and chirped at the girl.

The girl stared before giggling at Toothless and relaxed. "Ma, kare wa kawai yodesu. Doragon no baai." she said with a smile. "Watashi no namae Akane desu."

Hiccup had no hope of understanding. "Okay, we're not getting anywhere verbally," he remarked to Sharpshot. He thinks of a way to explain himself when a shout of, "Teishi! Ohimesama kara hanarete!" catches his attention.

Turning his gaze from the girl, he looked around and saw that the armored warriors had surrounded him and his reptilian friends now. Bows, spears and swords were all at the ready and were mainly pointing at him. Raising his hands up in surrender, Hiccup slowly stood and stepped away from the girl.

Toothless growled and bared his teeth, inching closer to Hiccup. Sharpshot hissed in the most intimidating way he could. In his defense, he was a Terror.

Oh man. What have I gotten us into? Hiccup thought to himself.

I know it's been a while but that's all I've decided to write on this chapter.

Now for starters, the dragons in Japan are exactly as they are described in Asia. The one that Gojira got into a brief struggle with is none other than the Kaiju Manda from the older Toho Showa Era films. And you know, fun fact, there's a deleted scene in Destroy All Monsters of Godzilla and Manda fighting when the Kaiju arrive in Tokyo.

The girl that speaks to Hiccup is from the Millennium Godzilla films, more precisely the Kiryu Saga. Akane Yashiro, the pilot of Kiryu. I watched a couple YouTube videos that were tributes, one to the human protagonists of the Godzilla movies in (almost) every Era and another to Akane and they gave me inspiration to include Akane in this story as Hiccup comes to Japan. I think I'll add more human protagonists from the Godzilla films as I go along.

Until next time.

Leave comments. They still give me fuel to keep writing. Tell me what you like/think.

Take care.
