Seneca Crane stared at the monitor showing the arena map for the 75th Hunger Games. Against popular belief, he was positively aware of how close to death he was when he made the rules change.

However, it was his job as the Head Gamemaker to tell stories, and what a phenomenal story the girl-on-fire was. He risked his life so all of Panem could see what wonders the Hunger Games could be. The Hunger Games could bring glory, fame, fortune and even love.

They were playing by the rules, so he risked everything to aid them. While President Snow was furious, he didn't order him to die on the spot. President Snow was angry, yes, but he saw potential in the girl-on-fire, just like he did.

Then the ungrateful heathen went and turned rebellious! Working with the little girl from 11 and singing with the mocking jays. He set up the perfect storyline for her, and she ignored it to play mother.

So she was punished, and the ruling change was revoked, but he still gave the girl-on-fire a chance to survive despite her actions, to become a Victor.

She spat on him when she pulled out those berries, and contrary to what one assumes of him, he isn't stupid nor suicidal, so he blew her up.

The girl-on-fire died a fiery death, while poor loyal Peta Mellark, who chose to be faithful to Panem even when tempted by an evil seductress, won the 74th Hunger Games.

He knew this was an excellent outcome and a story that the Capitol and President Snow were pleased to see, but it wasn't his story. Seneca Crane knew he was on thin ice, but he had one last chance, and President Snow had approved his twist.

For the 75th Hunger Games and Third Quarter Quell, tributes will be sorted into partners by vote of the Capital Citizens. These partners can become Duel Victors of the 75th Hunger Games.

Seneca glanced at the display before looking out the window; he would tell the most extraordinary story, even if it was the last thing he would do.
