"My parents want to have dinner with us," Xavier entered Peata's apartment. He saw his girlfriend sitting on a couch with a PADD.
Peata looked up at her boyfriend and felt her heart quicken. His blond hair was falling in his face and there was a shine in his eyes. She watched as he made his way over to her and leaned down to kiss her. She set her PADD down and wrapped her arms around him.
Xavier broke the kiss and sighed. Peata was glad that he broke the kiss because they have a habit of forgetting themselves and it didn't work when they were at work. He took a seat next to her. He placed a hand on her knee. "So, what do you think?"
"About what?" Peata asked. She had forgotten the words he had said when he came in.
"Having dinner with my parents," Xavier leaned back against her couch.
"I don't know," Peata moaned. She didn't know if she was ready to take that step in their relationship. It is not like she hasn't met them before. When Xavier and she were just partners, she had met both of his parents at parties that Xavier had invited her to. They were great, but they might think something different now that she was dating their son.
"Why not?" Xavier ran a hand through her hair. "You already met my parents and know what they are like."
"I feel that this is different because we are dating not partners on a project," Peata closed her eyes.
"We have been dating for six months and they want to get to know you better," Xavier smiled. "They want to know more about the woman I love." Xavier leaned over and kissed her. "I love you."
Peata sighed. "Alright," Xavier smiled because he had her.
"What are we going to do for dinner?" Xavier asked.
"I'm sure your parents will think of something," Peata leaned her head against him.
Xavier laughed. "Not with my parents, but tonight."
Peata elbowed him in the stomach, and he let out a grunt. It made Peata smile. "I'm sure you can think of something."
"I can see something I want," Xavier leaned over and kissed Peata. He pulled her under him. Peata laughed before she wrapped her arms around Xavier.
Peata let out a sigh as they made their way up the path to Xavier's parents' house. The house was big and beautiful. She couldn't believe that Xavier grew up here. Xavier gave her a smile. "Everything is going to be okay. My parents already to love you," Xavier leaned over and kissed the side of her head.
Xavier didn't knock, just opened the door. "Mom, Dad, we're here," Xavier led her into the house.
Peata looked in the house to see how open it looked. The house looked like love lived there. "In the kitchen," Peata heard a male voice say. Peata looked over to the kitchen to see two people standing and another person sitting on a bar stool.
Xavier pulled her to the kitchen. "Selena," He let go of Peata and hugged the young woman. "Don't you have some body to look at?"
Selena rolled her eyes at her brother. She looked away from her brother to Peata. "I came to figure out why Peata wants to date you," Peata had met Xavier's sister before, and they got along very well. When Xavier and Peata got together, Selena was in space on some learning mission and Peata hadn't seen her until now. She knew that Selena was staying in San Francisco to go to medical school.
Xavier grinned at his sister. "She couldn't resist my charms," Selena rolled her eyes at her brother. Xavier turned to his parents. "Mom, Dad, how are you tonight?"
Peata watched as Tom and B'Elanna traded a look. Tom turned to his son. "We are good, son."
B'Elanna turned towards Peata. "How are you tonight?"
"Good, B'Elanna," Peata remembers the first time that Xavier had invited her to his parents' house, and she had called B'Elanna, Commander Torres and B'Elanna had told her to call her B'Elanna. "We are glad to have you for dinner."
"I'm glad to be here," Peata smiled.
Tom must have walked away when he brought back three glasses of wine. "Get out of the kitchen," He handed the two of the glasses to Xavier and Peata. He held the third one back and gave his daughter a look. "How old are you again?"
Selena rolled her eyes at her father and took the glass from him. "Old enough," She slid off the bar stool. Selena led them to the family room. She took a seat on the couch. Peata and Xavier took a seat next to her. Xavier gave his sister a look.
"Really what are you doing here?" He asked. "I thought that it was only a dinner with Mom and Dad."
"I had come over earlier to use the holodeck and Mom had invited me to dinner," Selena looked over her shoulder at her parents. "I tried to get out of it, but Mom kept saying that it has been a while since she saw me, and she wouldn't let me say no."
Xavier smiled. "And Dad stayed out of it."
"Yep, he wanted me to stay for dinner too." Selena turned away from her brother to look at Peata. "What turned you on to my brother?"
"He's cute," Selena rolled her eyes at her. Peata reached over and placed a kiss on Xavier's lips. "He's funny and strong." Peata tried to think about what made her fall in love with Xavier and it brought a smile to her face. He was a good man. As Peata thought it was the little things that made Peata fall in love with him. It also helped that he was amazing in bed. "There are so many things I just can't name one."
Selena shook her head. "You have something on her. I can't see a woman like Peata falling for you."
Xavier narrowed his eyes at his sister. "And dear sister what is going on in your dating life?"
"I decided to constrain on my studies right now," Selena threw her brother a look.
Xavier laughed. "In other words, you have given up on dating." Selena looked behind her to see what her parents were doing and Peata looked over to see that Tom and B'Elanna had their heads together. Selena saw the same thing and picked up the pillow that was next to her and threw it at her brother. Xavier caught in his hands and laughed.
"Selena, we don't throw things in this house," B'Elanna yelled from the kitchen. "And Xavier be nice to your sister," Selena stuck her tongue out at her brother.
Peata covered her mouth to hide the laugh. Both Xavier and Selena gave her a look. "What you remind me of my siblings and me."
Selena eyes soften. "Do you miss your family with them on Bajor?"
"I do, I was thinking about taking a trip there to see them soon. It has been couple of years since the last time I saw them." Peata frowned.
"Take my brother with you," Selena said.
Xavier frowned at Selena before turning to Peata. "I will come if you want me too."
Peata rolled her eyes. "You met my family before. They like you. Are you nervous because we are dating now?"
Selena opened her mouth to say something when they heard. "Dinner," The three of them picked up their wine glasses and made their way to the dining room table.
Everyone had taken their seats before the food passed around the table. The food was a mixture of Earth food and Q'onoS food. Xavier leaned closer to Peata. "You don't have to eat anything you don't like. When my mom started to embrace her Klingon side, she started to make Klingon food and made sure that we all had a taste of it. I think that Dad was the first," Xavier whispered.
Peata smiled before taking a little of everything. Klingon was part of Xavier and she thought that she should try it. Xavier still practiced with his bat'leth every morning.
"So, Peata how are your parents?" B'Elanna asked.
"They are good. I was thinking about going for a visit," Peata smiled.
"Do it and take my son with you," Tom took a bite of his food.
Xavier rolled his eyes at his father. "We were already talking about me going with her."
They asked about work and how she thought it was going and what she had planned for the upcoming years. None of them asked about where she thought her relationship with Xavier was going. They treated her like she was already part of the family. It might be because she had no family here and Xavier's parents knew how that felt.
The meal passed was done before they knew it. Selena decided that it was time for her to leave and get back to her studies. Peata watched Selena hug her parents and them telling her not to be a stranger and that her sister was coming for a visit the next month. Selena should make time for them. Peata watched them. Selena nodded before leaving.
Tom made his way over to Xavier and her. "Has my son ever taught you pool?" Tom smiled and Peata knew where Xavier got his smile.
Peata glanced at Xavier who shrugged his shoulders to see where his father was going with this. He didn't know. "No, Xavier didn't teach me," She returned his smile.
"I think I have to teach you," Tom said.
"I don't think that is a good idea," Xavier said. "I remember how you taught us. I can teach my own girlfriend."
"I don't know what you are talking about," Tom smiled. He threw an arm around his son. Tom led his son to the basement door.
Peata traded a look with B'Elanna. "Is this a good thing or not?" Peata asked.
"I don't know. He never asked Miral's husband about playing pool," B'Elanna followed her husband and son. Peata shrugged her shoulders and followed B'Elanna.
They made their way to the basement to find Tom telling the computer what program he wanted. Peata made her way over to Xavier. "Do you know what your dad is doing?"
"He didn't tell me. Should I tell him that you are pool shark?" Xavier smiled.
He knew how she was in the academy pool club, and she did a few tournaments with them and won most. He had taken her to a pool hall when they started dating and thought that he was going to teach her, but she showed him a trick to two. "No, let's surprise him." Peata and Xavier followed his parents in the program.
The set was an old bar with a pool table in the center of it. There were tables around the room but there was no one else in the program. Xavier leaned closer. "My dad had a program like this on Voyager and he had made this a couple of years to us living in the house. He taught my sisters and me how to play when we were old enough to stand over the table. We had family tournaments and my dad always cheated."
Peata glanced over to Tom and B'Elanna, who were getting everything set up. Tom looked up at them. There was a look in his eyes that had Peata wondering what it meant. "Teach Peata the basics," Tom yelled at Xavier.
"I am," Xavier shouted back. Peata covered her mouth because Tom didn't need to know what Xavier was telling her.
Peata and Xavier went over and grabbed a pole stick. She made sure that no one was looking when she tested the stick. Xavier caught her eye, and she knew that he had seen her. She only gave him a smile.
"Alright, Xavier and Peata as a team and B'Elanna and I as a team," tom said to everyone.
Xavier leaned closer to Peata. "How do we want to play this?" Peata loved the mischievous smile on Xavier's face.
"Like I know nothing," Xavier fell in love with Peata all over again.
The first game went quickly and Tom and B'Elanna won the game. With a smile of victory on his face. Tom said, "Let's play boys vs girls."
Peata made her way over to B'Elanna. "We got this," B'Elanna raised an eyebrow at the woman who stole her son's heart. Peata only smiled and B'Elanna could why her son fell in love with Peata.
"If you say so. The last time I won against my husband we ended up with Selena," B'Elanna watched as Tom racked the balls.
Peata was the one who raised an eyebrow to B'Elanna. She felt that was a story for another time. B'Elanna gave Peata a smile and had Peata wondering if Xavier got his mischievous side from his mother or his father. "One day you will have to tell me that story."
B'Elanna laughed. "Tom, don't you hit that ball. I know your mother taught you ladies first." B'Elanna bumped Tom out of the way with her hip. Tom only gave her a look as she bent over the table and hit que ball.
B'Elanna didn't hit any ball in, so it was the guys turn. Everyone watched as Tom hit the ball and knocked the ball in. The boys had solids. Tom hit the ball, but nothing went in. It was Peata's turn. She went around the table and tried to figure out what to do. Peata knew that if she wanted, she could clear the table. She looked at her boyfriend only to see him nodding. He knew what she was doing. She looked at her partner and saw that she wanted to win against her husband. Peata knew what she had to do to knock Tom Paris off his tower. It wouldn't be just a victory for Peata and B'Elanna but for Xavier and his siblings. She had a feeling that he would be calling his sisters and telling them how his new girlfriend beat their dad at pool.
Peata hit her ball in the pocket. "Beginner's luck," Tom smiled. Peata moved around the table and hit another ball in. Peata saw Tom's eyes widen as she hit another ball in. She watched Tom's mouth drop as she kept hitting balls in. The only ball that was left was the eight ball.
"Eight ball in the corner pocket," Peata smiled at Tom. She did what she said she was going to do.
Tom turned to Xavier. "Why didn't you tell me that your girlfriend was a pool shark?"
"Because I wanted to beat your ass," Xavier hit his dad on the back as he made his way over to Peata.
Tom turned to B'Elanna. "How can you let your son talk to me like that?"
B'Elanna patted him on his cheek. "Because you needed it," B'Elanna walked pass him. She smiled at Peata. "Thank you for that win and I will always remember that face he made." B'Elanna turned towards her son. "I'm sure you are going to tell your sisters."'
"Hell yes. They are not going to believe me," Xavier had a widen smile on his face.
Peata made her way over to Tom. "Good game, Tom," She held out her hand for him to shake.
"That was no game, you cleared the table. I want a rematch," Tom didn't shake her hand but crossed his arms. Peata could see the sparkle in his eyes.
"Anytime," Peata smiled. She felt that there were going to be many rematches in the future.
