"Tell me, Mr. NovaStar-"
"It's Messier."
"Yeah, whatever," Poseidon held the object close to his face, "Tell me, can you really see everything...?"
"Technically..."
"It's a yes or no question."
"...Then no, I can't."
"Is that so?" Poseidon scoffed, "That's not what Zeus told me... he said NovaStars are more powerful than anything in the Galaxy."
"Yes, well... our powers can have drawbacks. It is only to be used during emergencies."
"That's lame..." The blue Celestial uttered, "Why can't you let loose a little?"
Messier didn't respond, ignoring the deep aching in his chest.
Poseidon squinted his eyes at the eight-pointed Star upon not receiving an answer, "Okay, fine... be that way."
Messier winced, contemplating to himself, 'I wonder where the other two ended up...'
"Neptune, mate!" An accented voice called out.
The blue Celestial turned, frowning at the term that the other one used.
'Why does that sound familiar...?' He asked himself, raising a hand to his chin as he tilted his head, 'I don't even know what a 'mate' is...'
'Come on, Neptune...' Messier quietly pleaded, watching his holder from a distance.
"What do you need, Ouranos?" Poseidon asked as the cyan Celestial stopped before him.
Unlike the others, Uranus didn't seem to mind the use of his former name, smiling slightly. It was better than being made fun of or being called UR-anus most of the time, "Your moons, uh... wanted to talk to you."
Poseidon perked up, "Acis, Venilia, and Canens? I've been wondering where they've been."
Uranus seemed hesitant in his words, "R-Right, well- about that... you know how space is always changing, right?"
"Yes...?" Poseidon quirked an eyebrow.
"And how celestial bodies are always moving around; pushing and pulling stray objects that end up in their orbit? And how certain orbits can be dangerous to the point of two objects eventually colliding?"
"Just get to the point, Ouranos." Poseidon huffed, "I don't have time to play mind games."
Uranus sighed, "I'm sorry, mate, but the moons you once knew are gone."
Poseidon felt the atmosphere freeze around him, eyes wide in disbelief and jaw clenched. He managed to grit out a single word, "...What?"
Uranus gestured behind him, moving aside to let the other see sixteen celestite bodies huddling close together.
Poseidon stared at them blankly, analyzing every one of them.
"Neptune...?" Proteus stepped forward, "Do you recognize us?"
"It's us!" Galatea squeaked, "Your moons!"
Poseidon scrunched his face, scrutinizing the small moons with disdain, "You have got to be kidding me... those pebbles are my moons?"
Triton tensed, immediately noticing his sibling moons' shocked and miserable faces. He took his sunglasses off and assessed the scene.
"Mate-" Uranus sucked in a breath, surprised at his old friend's behavior.
Triton flew up to Poseidon, "You will not speak to them like that!"
The blue Celestial seemed nearly impressed by the interference, his brows raising, "You dare talk back to me...? Hah, who do you think you are?"
"The name's Triton," The moon spoke, returning his sunglasses to where they were originally perched, "And I do whatever I damn please."
"Triton, huh...? Well, at least you're not an insignificant piece of debris." Poseidon shrugged.
Triton scowled, opening his mouth to argue back, yet someone else beat him to it.
Before Triton knew what was happening, he was pushed aside, a swift breeze rushing past him.
BAM!
Poseidon reeled back, holding his face as part of it stung from freezing ice, his surface having a hard time recovering as bits of ice plummeted down into the void.
"You... how can you say that?" Uranus' voice wavered as he glared at the other one with tears in his eyes. He readjusted his hold on his harpe, shaking ever so slightly, "You, of all Celestial beings..."
Poseidon stared at him incredulously, "Wha-"
"Don't! I don't want to hear your excuses!" His voice cracked as he yelled at the amnesiac, "You should know better than anyone! You actually talk to your moons, know all of their names, care about them, and you even taught me how to treat my moons after they ran away from me! You should know, so stop acting as if you don't!"
Poseidon opened his mouth, yet no words came out. He continued to hold his cheek and stare bewildering at the other.
"I know you remember, so stop pretending you don't!" Uranus stepped forward, grabbing Poseidon by the shoulders, "I know you can, mate! I've known you for billions of years, you think of me as your cousin and everyone is your friend! You're capable of so much more if you can just think! Please, mate..."
"..."
There was no response as Poseidon stood still, tense at the contact.
"Neptune... please..." Uranus pleaded, clutching onto Neptune's shoulders as if his core depended on it.
"...Let go, Ouranos." Poseidon finally spoke.
"No, not until you-"
"Let. Go!" Poseidon placed a hand on the other's chest, striking the area.
"Agh-!" Uranus pulled away, holding his chest.
Poseidon took his chance, quickly leaving and heading toward the Kuiper Belt.
"Uranus- are you okay?" Triton moved forward, his hands hovering as he looked at the Ice Giant.
"I'm fine, mate, the shock is only temporary..." Uranus grunted, peering down at the white mark on his chest, "Make sure all the moons are okay."
Triton nodded, beginning to list the moons, 'One, two, three, four... ten, eleven, twelve... fourteen, fifteen...'
The biggest moon raised an eyebrow, 'Including me, that makes fifteen, but...'
Thalassa was the first to notice, her gaze flitting around the area, "Hey, where's Hippocamp?"
Triton's eyes widened, whipping his head toward the Kuiper Belt, "Oh, no..."
...
Poseidon huffed, storming through the Kuiper Belt.
'Why is everyone behaving differently? What is going on here? What happened to my moons!?'
With a scowl, Poseidon raised a fist, striking it down and blowing an asteroid to bits.
"Why won't anyone tell me anything!?" He yelled, his voice echoing throughout the atmosphere.
He grabbed an asteroid, staring at it in revolt. Subconsciously, his hands started moving along the piece of debris.
A million questions ran through his head, 'What did that idiot mean by 'I know you remember'? What does he mean we've known each other for billions of years? We haven't even been alive for that long...'
"Right...?" He uttered to himself, frowning as no one responded, "Hey, Mr. NovaStar, are you still there?"
No response.
Poseidon rifled through his pockets, coming up empty, 'It must've slipped out...'
The blue Celestial sighed, peering at the asteroid he had been fidgeting with beforehand.
Poseidon blinked at the blue face staring back at him.
The face had an almost deranged feel to it as it grinned eerily at him.
It was familiar to him.
Oh, so familiar...
Why was it so familiar?
Poseidon stared and stared until he reached out for it, bringing it closer to him and inspecting it.
"I'm gonna call you... Guillermo!"
Happiness. Sadness. Anger. Guilt.
The emotions seemed to build and build, weighing heavy on Poseidon's shoulders as his hands shook.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this... my friends."
It was all blurry. He could no longer see the blue face due to the fogginess.
It was quiet.
He choked on his breath.
No, not again.
He wasn't going to go back to being isolated. He wasn't going to spend his days, years after years of orbiting around the Sun once, and then repeating it over and over and over and over-
Neptune sucked in a breath, the tears that once streamed down his face now sinking into his surface.
He blinked, looking around the area he was in, "Wh-Where...?"
Underneath his fingers, he felt something rugged and cracked. He glanced down, eyes widening upon seeing a blue face.
"Guillermo...?"
