In the Afternoon Arnold, Helga, Dipper and Pacifica came together in front of the fireplace to get to know each other better.
„How did you two find together, if i may ask?!", Pacifica asked Helga.
„Oh...yeah...that's complicated and uhm...strange.". Helga answered dryly and needed to drink.
„Interesting, ours is not very ordinary either!", Pacifica laughed and winked at Dipper.
„We practically know each other sinse preschool!", Arnold said.
„Oh, we don't know each other THAT long!", Dipper mentioned.
„But since we were pre-teens.", Pacifica added.
Helga cleared her throat.
„Okay...should i start, Arnold?", Helga asked sheepishly.
„Sure, darling!", he answered.
„Okay...we met for the first time at the first day of preschool.", Helga started, „It rained i was soaken wet."
„Oh, that's not starting good!", Pacifica said taken aback.
„But then came Arnold to hold his umbrella over me!", Helga recounted.
„A real Gentleman!", Dipper said.
„Dippi, no time for sarcasm!", Pacifica warned him.
„What? No, i really meant it!", Dipper defended himself.
„It's okay!", Arnold said, „I did not understand it wrong!"
„Later that day Arnold also shared his snacks with me, because another schoolboy stole mine.", Helga told further.
„That's not nice!", Dipper said.
„Right. But now comes the worst.", Helga sighed, „The others laughed at us very hard, when they saw Arnold beeing nice to me. And then…"
„Are you okay, Helga? You don't have to tell, if you don't want!", Arnold said concerned.
„It's okay, i own my mistakes!", Helga answered, „I pummeled the boy and told the others that I am the boss now and nobody should try to disobey me! Sadly, i scared Arnold away with that!"
„Oh, that's sad! So you are not together THAT long, right!?", Pacifica asked.
„Right!", Helga answered. „I acted like a bully for 8 long years! I managed to hide my feelings for him all the time!"
Some tears ran down Helga's chees and Arnold took one of her hands in his.
Even Dipper and Pacifica were looking sad now.
„But someday you must have changed, or you would not have married, right!?", Dipper said.
„Yes...uhm...i have to add, that even before we came together there have been times, where we got along relativly good, like that one thanksgiving or the day at the beach. But let's go to the important topic...the jungle!", Helga said.
„Jungle?", Dipper and Pacifica asked in unison.
„Yes. Our class won a video contest and the first prize was a travel to san lorenzo.", Helga explained.
„Okay...but how did the jungle help you to fall in love with each other?", Pacifica asked.
„My parents got lost there, when i was a toddler!", Arnold said.
„OH MY GOD!", Dipper and Pacifica said in unison again.
„And Helga helped me to find and rescue them! Without her i would still be an orphan!", Arnold said and smiled at Helga.
„And then Arnold kissed me!", Helga smiled, „After the Trip it needed some days to adjust ourselfs to the new situation, but we were finally together!"
„I have to add, that i liked her even before, but i was deterred by her behavior towards me.", Arnold said.
„Despite this, we also then did many things together, even when there were disputes. And yes, it always came from ME! You have only defended yourself against me! And NO, i never have pummeled him! I loved him too much, to do something like that!", Helga said.
„So, that summons everything enough for now! But now we like to know how it was with YOU!?", Arnold grinned.
„Okay, where could we start? Pacifica? Please don't be mad at me, because of what i tell right now, okay!?"
Pacifica sighed.
„It's okay! I know what you mean. And it's true. I own my mistakes, too!", she said.
„Good...so my sister and me met Pacifica when we lived over the summer with our grunkle here in this house. And there was a party. Mabel, my sister, wanted to sing karaoke, but then Pacifica and her two minions broke into the scene.", Dipper told.
„Minions?", Pacifica asked.
„Tiffany and the other broad.", Dipper answered.
„Ah...yes...they! I almost forgot them! I don't want to see them ever again!", Pacifica said.
„Pacifica then said to Mabel that she is better than her. But Mabel is noone who gives up easily and so there was an duel."
„So you have been mean as a kid, too?! Just like me?!", Helga asked.
„Yes, but on other grounds like you! Please continue, Dipper!", Pacifica answered.
„Yes...so Mabel was close to win the competition. It was a draw at the end. But then Pacifica bribed our local hillbilly and he clapped for her and so she won.", Dipper said.
„You bribed him? How old were you back then?", Arnold asked.
„Mabel and Dipper were 12, i was 13!", Pacifica answered.
„And where did the money come from?", Arnold asked.
„From my parents. They have been rich. VERY rich.", Pacifica sighed, „And that made me a bad person!"
„Wait, that's not exactly correct!", Dipper said, „There was more behind it!"
„Well...yes...i only say that much...they abused me and that only physical!" Pacifica said. „It was pure psychoterror! They WANTED to make me an arrogant and reckless prick!"
„Oh, my farher wanted to do the same with me!", Helga said, „Always demanding peak performance, but i never got something nice back from him! He even called me by my sister's name, Olga!"
„That's not nice, too!", Pacifica said, „But i think mine is much more worse! And also it's no competition!"
„Right. Because of the karaoke-incident i disliked Pacifica back then. I than found out, one of her ancestors was NOT the founder of this town, like her parents pretended to all all.", Dipper said.
„Back then i really believed it have to be true!" Pacifica said, „But when you gave me the papers into the limousine, my believing started to falter!"
„And later he helped me to realize the lies and fraudulences of my ancestors AND my parents and to rebel against them!"
„Yeah. At that time we started to like each other.", Dipper said, „But we really fell in love the next summer, after phoning and texting much between the summers."
„At that time i had run away fom my parents, because it got worse at home.", Pacifica told, „Then i lived at the owner of the diner, Susan, and she adopted me, because my father did not want me anymore! He said i am a disapointment, because i would not tolerate his intrigues anymore!"
Arnold and Helga looked wide-eyed at Dipper and Pacifica.
„Wow, that's intense.", Helga said, „But then it turned to the better!?"
„Yes! After we turned adult, we married.", Dipper simled, „It was clear before, that she will take over the diner and i will take over the Mystery Shack!"
„The same with us, without taking anything over!", Arnold said.
„My father's beeper-store was down anyway, because that idiot was too stubborn to change to cellphones.", Helga said. „And then he had to close anyway, because of health reasons."
„But you are a succesful author, now!", Arnold smiled.
„Oh, what are you writing?", Pacifica wanted to know.
„Poetry and novels, but sometimes also criticisms and travelogues.", Helga answered.
„Sounds good. I'll read you in the future!", Pacifica said.
„Do you have a bookstore here?", Helga asked.
„Yes, in the mall!", Pacifica answered.
„If they have something from me, i can autograph you a book, if you like.", Helga smiled.
„Really? That would be really nice!", Pacifica said.
„And you Arnold? What are you working?", Dipper asked.
„I am working as an anthropologist at the rainforest-house in Hillwood.", he answered.
„Is there a correlation with your jungle-adventure?", Dipper asked.
„Yes!", Arnold laughed, „But even my parents worked in that field."
„Okay, than it's clear!", Dipper said.
„Have you many tourists here?", Arnold asked. „Gravity Falls is really hard to find. It's not on any map. I had to reserch very hard at the internet to find turn-by-turn directions."
„Not really. Not anymore. And not from far away.", Dipper answered.
„Most of them are from the area around the town.", pacifica said, „But even for THEM the town is new then!"
„Then ist have to be very quiet here, right!?", Arnold asked.
Dipper and Pacifica looked at each other and started to laugh.
Arnold and Helga looked puzzled.
The four talked untill late at night.
The next day Arnold and Helga planned to explore the town.
