Yuna didn't know how to feel when Melody informed her that someone would be visiting shortly to deal with her 'magic issues'. She had already done wonders by formally becoming Yuna's sponsor and insuring she didn't have to rely on Crowley's "kindness" any longer.
You could imagine her shock when she opened the door one afternoon after classes...and found a very famous face.
Bill Weasley, the current head of the Weasley family. Also a known curse breaker and close ally to Melody Potter.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Melody explained the situation and asked if I could take a look at this seal that was placed on you."
"Not at all," said Yuna quickly.
"Nyahaha...who's this guy?" asked Grim. Ace, Cater, and Deuce both looked at him warily, for obvious reasons. Then again they were planning to have a study session since a big test was coming up. Cater had agreed to help tutor them since it kept Riddle off his case for a while.
"My name is Bill Weasley. I'm a professional curse breaker."
"You get cursed, Yuna?" asked Deuce.
Yuna's expression suddenly became flat, worrying the boys even more.
"That's what my adopted little sister asked me to check. When she explained what happened to her new charge, I agreed to come see if I could help," explained Bill calmly. "It'll only take a few minutes."
Cater had to snort when he saw the ornate wand.
"You from the other realm?" he asked.
"Other realm?" said Deuce, confused.
"A really long time ago, mages were hunted down because of their abilities," said Cater. "So those who were tired of it found a way to break through to another realm and settle there. Fortunately for them, that realm already had mages so once the initial culture shock wore off, the two realms began a trade."
"We consider a trip to this realm akin to traveling abroad for an extended period," admitted Bill. He had not stopped quietly casting spells on Yuna while Cater explained this. "The good news is that whoever put this seal on you did a really sloppy job of it. It shouldn't take me more than a week or two to get the items I need to remove it. The better news is that it's still fairly recent, so your core shouldn't have atrophied much. You're still going to need training, from what Melody told me though."
"Wait...seal?" said Ace in shock. "You mean she isn't magicless?"
Yuna winced.
"From what I was told, some Ministry official...who Melody absolutely set the big guns on once she confirmed this wasn't an isolated case...decided the fact that Yuna dropped out of Hogwarts to avoid persecution was enough to have her magic sealed. With how the war went, they didn't bother to do more than seal her, rather than wipe her memories as well since that's standard procedure. Likely due to the trauma she suffered," said Bill bluntly.
"Big guns?" said Grim.
"She set her sister in all but blood with enablers on the entire department to find out who else was sealed. My younger brother George in particular was eager to help once he heard the story, because he was getting bored," said Bill with a grin.
"...She set Hermione Granger on them, didn't she?" asked Yuna calmly.
"Yes, yes she did," said Bill.
"Good," said Yuna with such vindictiveness that it almost scared the boys.
Two weeks later...
Crowley was present, along with Professor Crewel and Professor Trein. Mostly because it was rare for a wizard from the other realm to be in the school. It was only the fact they didn't want to make a public spectacle of things that kept them from holding this publicly.
As it was, Riddle, Ace, Deuce and Cater were all present to act as emotional support. Cater would be recording things so other students could observe without revealing Yuna's identity.
Bill went to work, occasionally using an artifact he had brought with him. After about an hour or so, there was a slight 'pop' sound, and the lights flickered as did Cater's phone.
"That should do it. Now we just need to test that it's fully off," he said.
Crowley handed Yuna a spell pen. By this point her wand was lost anyway, and if the seal was removed that would mean she could become a full student.
"Well give it a wave!" said Bill with an encouraging smile.
Yuna didn't have to think, she had been planning on what spell to use for a while now.
With a swish and flick combo, she pointed the mage pen at Ace and said "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Ace's loud yelp as his chair lifted up was deeply cathartic, and she quickly brought him back down before she started crying from relief. A quick check by the school's doctor confirmed that Yuna's magic was now fully unbound again, but would need training since she had to cut her magical education so early.
~~*~*~*
Melody was absolutely disgusted, and the only thing preventing her from going back to England and fully lambasting the idiots who caused this were her children.
Yuna was not the only person to have their magic sealed, and upon alerting Hermione to what happened they were swiftly discovering that it was closer to seventy-five people and rising. The department that handled such things had decided to tackle the 'backlog' of students who had the sense not to go back to Hogwarts after Dumbledore's death and the death eaters taking over.
Several of the 'missing' muggleborns that were known were found to be alive and very unhappy, since they were now considered squibs.
McGonagall was helping her former students track down and resolve the issue by using the Hogwarts register, and Hermione fully planned to hunt down all those responsible...before handing a list and their addresses to Melody to have a 'chat' with.
Melody planned to open up a charity or some sort of organization to help first generation mages integrate with the magical world which was still recovering. They couldn't afford to lose any magical blood after the war, and the main reason the pure bloods had an issue with the first gens was due to them being...well, rude.
In all fairness though, Dumbledore's idea of merging the two worlds together was forcing them to co-habitate in the same school before throwing them to the wolves the second they graduated and expecting them to find their own way. He had done exactly nothing about the bias towards Slytherins or the animosity between the factions, either in school or out. The less said about the lack of modern history or normal classes, the better.
It was exactly the sort of thing Hermione would enjoy and would absolutely support.
Melody was beyond disgusted upon finding out that there were no less than ten witches who had been sent to the goblins to "serve" out their sentences by that damn Toad. There was little doubt in her mind what had happened to them, and by this point it would likely be kinder to simply put them out of their misery as it had been at least five years since the war had ended.
If being captured by feral goblins for a month was enough to cause life-long trauma, Melody did not want to consider what five years as a dedicated breeder would do.
Melody decided to do what she could, which was allow Hermione to act in her name and raise Teddy and Lia, far away from that mess.
All too soon, the midterm exams approached. Melody did her best to encourage her new ward since Yuna wasn't quite old enough to be considered an adult witch.
It was bad enough that Yuna would have to spend her summer cramming as much magical education as she could just to take her OWL's and later her NEWT's.
Since so many others had their magic sealed over false pretenses, Headmistress McGonagall would allow them to take their exams in the castle over summer break. The ministry, much to their dismay, would be footing the bill for the new wands since it was their screw-up.
Yuna shyly came through the portal with Silver and the others, though she seemed to warm up when she was promptly hugged by Melody.
"How have things been?" asked Melody.
"The teachers were really nice once things were explained, and the mirror was finally able to sort me. But since I'm the only girl it was agreed I'd stay in Ramshackle to prevent...incidents," said Yuna.
Incidents like an unwanted pregnancy, Melody assumed.
"So what dorm did you get?" asked Melody cheerfully.
"Pomefiore. Vil-senpai is rather strict, but understanding once the headmage explained things to him."
Vil was not amused at having the rather rambunctious familiar as an official part of his dorm, but he made do. He had put Yuna on a strict beauty regimen and would give her an inspection every time they passed in the halls. It was like having a domineering older sibling, but she didn't mind. Epel explained that Vil was like that to everyone in the dorm, including him.
She was still getting used to Rook popping up out of nowhere though.
"Come on, I want you to see your new room."
"My...room?" said Yuna confused.
"You didn't think I was going to make you bunk with the boys, did you?" laughed Melody.
Yuna was taken aback when she entered the home. It felt full of love and warmth, and she almost started crying. She hadn't felt like this since her parents were killed.
Entering the room was almost too much, as it was decorated almost identically to the Hufflepuff dorms.
"I asked Susan and Hannah to share their memories of their dorm after I explained the situation. They not only agreed to help, but they also got into contact with other former Hufflepuffs who were more than happy to get you up to speed before the exams," said Melody gently. "Professor Sprout even sent a few clippings from the dorm that she said you can keep."
Yuna didn't even realize she was crying until she felt the warm hug of Melody.
"It's okay to let it out. You can get acclimated before I introduce you properly to the boys," said Melody. "Welcome home, Yuna Potter."
Yuna didn't try to hold back her tears hearing that. She managed to compose herself by dinner, but it was clear she was greatly touched by Melody's kindness.
When she drifted off to sleep later, she cuddled with Grim and felt the sense of finally being home after traveling for far too long.
A few days later...
"What's dragon tent camping?" asked Yuna. The children seemed unusually excited for something so mundane.
Melody chuckled.
"You'll see. The children enjoy it, and I have it on good authority Malleus will be joining us again," said Melody. She grinned at Yuna when the girl blushed. "Have a little crush on him, I take it?"
"No!" she said a little too quickly. "It's just that he's unfairly handsome is all."
"I bet," said Melody. "If you want, I can teach you how to perform the animagus transformation like McGonagall."
"I heard it's really difficult though," said Yuna.
"Bah, if that fool Pettigrew could pull it off despite being a half-assed wizard, I see no reason you can't," said Melody dismissively. "Besides, muggleborns tend to be a be more creative with their magic compared to stuffy purebloods."
Yuna looked dubious, but she trusted Melody with her life. She had already gone above and beyond for her, and this would be a good way to start repaying her for her kindness.
Yuna had a comical look of shock when she saw wings emerge from Melody's back. They enveloped her without preamble, before a massive and terrifying black dragon appeared where the woman had stood. She shook herself out of it...she had seen the great dragon before, in the Malfoy Manor. It was only briefly, but she would never forget the flames of retribution Melody had inflicted on the Death Eaters that day.
"Beautiful," she whispered. She completely missed Lilia's grin at her words.
"She is an impressive specimen, for one that's not fully grown."
"Not fully...how is that not a fully grown dragon?" said Yuna incredulous.
"Would you like to see a fully grown dragon?" asked Malleus, his expression amused.
"Don't tell me you're an animagus too!" said Yuna in shock.
Malleus merely chuckled. Yuna watched incredulous as he allowed his magic to flow out, and a second larger dragon appeared.
Yuna looked between the two for a moment. They almost looked related, when compared to one another.
Lilia held up a brush.
"Care to help with the grooming session?"
"Can I?" she asked shyly.
Lilia chuckled.
"I'll show you the proper way to loosen the bad scales and the children can pick them up once we're done. And the proper way to use a buffing cloth."
"Where are we going to sleep though?"
Malleus huffed with amusement, before lifting up one of his wings.
"We sleep under their wings. Far more comfortable than those boring tents, not to mention safer. As Melody once put it, only an idiot would attack a sleeping dragon," said Lilia.
