Pokémon: Pokédex no Isekai
Chapter Eleven: The escape
Dawn and the rest of the crew of The Big Beauty were in Olivine City, where Dawn was checking off items on the list of Pokémon in the Johto Pokédex. "...I think we're just about done," Dawn said, "We just need to catch a Spinarak and we're done with Johto."
"Wait, I have Spider-Frog," Kenny pointed out.
"Yes, we have Ariados registered as caught," Dawn began, "But we don't have Spinarak registered as caught. We need to get EVERY species registered as caught, remember?"
Stretching his arms into the air, Trip said, "I think they're a nocturnal species found in the route going west from New Bark Town, and it's getting fairly late. I say we fly to New Bark Town, wait for night to fall, then go find a Spinarak and catch it. Then we return to the ship, wait until morning, and get the hell out of Johto and back to Sinnoh."
Mina let out a yawn. "I say you three go on without me to catch a Spinarak, I'll hit the hay earl-"
"You're planning to sneak into my room to sit in my papasan chair," Dawn said, cutting Mina off in the process, "Aren't you?"
Snapping her fingers, Mina said, "Damn it, you caught me."
Pointing a finger at Mina, Dawn said, "That is my special chair, the only butt allowed to plop down into it is mine. Got it?"
"It's a cool chair!" Mina complained, "At least let me sit in it once!"
As the reborn trainers were conversing amongst themselves, they stopped short when they heard a female voice call out to them, "Yo, Dawn Berlitz!" Dawn and the other reborn trainers all turned to see a group of three female Team Heart grunts walk up to them. "Captain Adrian got it that you're in Olivine City," said the first female grunt, being the one who called out, "He'd like to talk to you, as well as potentially get your help in dealing with some wild Pokémon that wandered into the city and are now causing trouble."
"...I see," Dawn said. A simple summons, though simple it may be, wasn't exactly something that Dawn and her crew could turn down, not when it came from Team Heart and they're in Team Heart territory. A fact that will end more or less as soon as one of the reborn trainers catches a Spinarak, as that specific species is the only thing standing in their way of having all species of Pokémon in Johto registered as caught.
A short while later, the reborn trainers were in Olivine City's local Team Heart office, and were meeting with Captain Adrian, the First Captain of the Johto Sector of Team Heart. Adrian was a cocoa skinned person who looked to be the same approximate age as most other members of the Officer staff of the Johto Sector of Team Heart.
Adrian had short curly black hair, and he wore a pink long sleeved shirt, black pants, black shoes with pink shoelaces, and a black Team Heart 'H' big enough to take up the entire chest area of the long sleeved shirt. Next to Adrian stood Xavier, his Captain's Assistant. Xavier was fair skinned, medium long brown hair, and he wore the standard male Team Heart grunt outfit.
"Is there anything we can help you with?" Dawn asked, keeping cordial as much as she needed to. This WAS Team Heart after all, but she still had to show a degree of respect to them. She and her crew were in Team Heart turf, after all.
"I heard that you were in Olivine City," Adrian said, "I just wanted to know what you were up to, and make certain requests as needed."
Gently shaking her head, Dawn said, "We were merely resting while going over what field research we've done for studying different species of Pokémon. As a matter of fact, our time in Johto is about over. We just need to do field research on Spinarak and we'll be done here and return to our home region of Sinnoh."
Adrian looked like something he was afraid of was leaving him alone. "You're leaving Johto?" Adrian said. Dawn could tell by Adrian's tone and expression that Dawn declaring that she and her crew were close to leaving Johto was being taken as good news.
"We also came here because we wanted to know more about the antidodonzic attack on a festival that took place here some time ago," Mina began, "Coryn mentioned that he and his kid brother lost their parents in that attack, also Marshall's girlfriend was killed in the attack as well."
"There's actually a book written about that attack," Adrian said, "It can tell you generally anything you'd want to know or ask about. I can provide you with a copy."
"Make that two copies if possible," Dawn asked, "Mina probably wants the copy she's asking for for herself, and I'll want my own copy as well." Dawn did have a bookshelf in her room on board of The Big Beauty to fill up. "Anyway, I believe something was mentioned about helping with driving out some wild Pokémon that wandered into the city?"
Nodding once, Adrian said, "Yeah, they're mostly in alleyways though. A few men in Team Heart will accompany you, if possible help them catch the wild Pokémon."
"If they let us catch the first Spinarak we find if we find one, then you got a deal," Trip said, "Seriously, Spinarak is literally the only thing standing between us and leaving Johto."
Adrian, as a member of Team Heart, was all too eager for Dawn Berlitz and her crew to leave the Johto region. With the deal struck, Dawn and her crew left to go help the Team Heart grunts deal with the wild Pokémon that had wandered into the city.
The search turned up at least two dozen wild Pokémon of low level grunt quality, which Dawn and the other reborn trainers allowed the Team Heart grunts with them to catch. Dawn did however, while the Team Heart grunts weren't looking, find a wild Spinarak and caught it. It was good that the Team Heart grunts didn't see the Spinarak Dawn caught as it's a shiny.
After about an hour and a half of work, the wild Pokémon that had wandered into Olivine City were all found and captured. According to Adrian, the Pokémon caught by Team Heart would be sent to various low level members of Team Heart who needed more Pokémon. Dawn remarked that she was relieved that it meant that the Spinarak she found and caught would be hers to keep then.
Adrian was also relieved to hear that, and he agreed with Dawn rather eagerly. This is because, by the word of Dawn and her group from earlier, their business in Johto was done. Now Team Heart in Johto would be able to breathe easy. "We're gonna fly to New Bark Town to check in with Professor Elm one last time," Dawn began, "Rest there the night, then fly back to Sinnoh first thing tomorrow."
Adrian was about to say something, but stopped short when Xavier came up, with Leona and Omiyo following him. "These two girls are part of Dawn Berlitz's crew, and they have something they need to tell Dawn," Xavier said.
Scowling, Dawn said, "Don't tell me that Jessie found us again and tried to bully Omiyo out of her shiny Bellibolt." Hearing Dawn sound unamused towards a ranking member of Team Heart caused Adrian a bit of alarm, he feared it may delay Dawn leaving Johto.
"Actually, Vice Principal Kenta of Blackthorn City Academy is calling you," Leona said, "The meeting room on board of The Big Beauty is already set for the call."
Looking curious, Dawn said, "The Vice Principal of Blackthorn City Academy is calling me? What is he calling me for?" Adrian, as he listened on, was worried that Blackthorn City Academy may be up to a secret plot to keep Dawn in Johto somehow; maybe by offering her a scholarship there.
Shrugging, Leona replied, "I don't know. But I think it may have something to do with Ideku, Ayane, and Katsuku, they were in the video call as well."
"Gold was in the video call too," Omiyo said, "He's that nice boy who also attends Blackthorn City Academy." Adrian recognized the name Gold; Gold is the preteen autistic boy who's the Champion of Johto. Is he in on the potential plot to keep Dawn in Johto as well?
Dawn was looking curious. "Well we're friends with Ideku and his peers," Dawn said, "I guess they wanna just hang out with us. And given our time with doing field research in Johto has just ended, I guess we can see them one last time before leaving Johto." The reborn trainers then followed both Leona and Omiyo out of the Team Heart office that's located local in Olivine City and back to The Big Beauty to answer Kenta's call.
...
The reborn trainers sat down in the meeting room aboard The Big Beauty, having closed the door to make it a private conversation. They had a video call from Kenta, the Vice Principal of Blackthorn City Academy, up on the monitor screen, similar to how they had similar conversations with Geeta back in the previous timeline. "I have to admit, sir," Dawn began as she addressed Kenta, "I was not expecting to get a call from you."
"Well it's just that Young Ideku and some of his peers were helping Champion Gold with trying to ask a favor of you," Kenta explained.
"What's the favor?" Trip asked.
Gesturing to the reborn trainers, Kenta explained, "A trainer who fancies himself as Gold's rival wishes to speak with you. He's here at Blackthorn City Academy right now. I have no idea why, but I have been assured by Gold that his rival means no harm."
"...We're going to wanna ask this supposed rival of Gold's for details," Dawn said, "But as our time here in Johto had just wrapped up, we're planning to leave the region anyway. I suppose coming by to see Ideku and his classmates one last time before leaving the region is something that we can manage. We'll be seeing you shortly."
Kenta nodded once in thanks before the video call ended. To the other reborn trainers, Dawn said, "Well guys, it looks like there's a slight change in plans, we're going to have to swing by Blackthorn City Academy first before going to New Bark Town to check in with Professor Elm."
"Hey, getting to see Ideku and friends one last time is a treat," Kenny replied, "I got no complaints."
The reborn trainers left the meeting room and then went about finding Heath the pilot slash helmsman. Heath was surprised when Dawn said that they first had to go to Blackthorn City to see someone before heading to New Bark Town to check in with Professor Elm. Dawn explained that she and the others wanted to see their friends at the top trainer school one last time before they left the Johto region.
Heath accepted Dawn's answer and, within short order, The Big Beauty took up into the sky and made its way to Blackthorn City.
A short while later, Dawn's flying ship landed in Blackthorn City, parking in an open field on the grounds of Blackthorn City Academy. Dawn as she and the other reborn trainers disembarked saw it as Ideku, Ayane, Katsuku, Gold, and even Kenta come jogging up to meet with them. However, it was who was with that group that took Dawn and the other reborn trainers by surprise.
Silver, the rival character that players in the Johto games in Dawn's previous life had to deal with. Silver himself had the sleek look of his gen four remake version, but the outfit Silver wore looked like the oversized, sort of baggy and bulky looking outfit his version in the gen two artwork had been seen wearing. An interesting mix of the two versions of Silver.
Gesturing to Silver, Dawn said to Kenta, "I suppose this is the person that you told me Gold wanted to talk to me about?"
Nodding once in the affirmative, Kenta said, "Yes, this young man here is named Silver. According to Gold, Young Silver here is wanting to ask a huge favor of you."
Dawn and the other reborn trainers turned their attention to Silver. "Alright, my curiosity is piqued," Dawn said to Silver, "What's the favor that you wanna ask of me?"
"I need you to get me out of Johto," Silver replied.
The reborn trainers were all taken a back a bit out of surprise, especially with how blunt and to the point Silver was in asking for what he wanted. "Hol' up a minute," Kenny said, "You want us to take you out of Johto?"
"I have nothing left here," Silver said, "Literally nothing tying me down. All that will remain for me if I stay in Johto is doom, given who my late father was."
"Your late father?" Mina repeated, "What, was he some poor schmuck who got offed by Team Heart because he broke one of their biggest laws?"
Gold gently shook his head. "No, Silver told me his dad was a highly important member of that Team Rocket group that used to exist before they were all taken out for good."
"His dad worked for Team Rocket?" Ayane said, looking surprised.
"I assure you," Silver began, "That I by no means hold the same ideals and values that my late father Giovanni held. He and his minions in Team Rocket were weak, thinking that their criminal acts with Pokémon would make them strong and rich. Real Pokémon trainers, such as those of us here, know the true method of becoming strong."
"Hol' up, you're Giovanni's son?" Mina said, "Wasn't he the Boss of Team Rocket?"
"Yes, and like I said," Silver replied, "I share nothing in common with my late father."
Dawn remembered, from the previous timeline, how Team Rocket was wholly defeated and for good because she and her friends captured Giovanni and a number of other Team Rocket members in the Unova region. Giovanni was eventually executed in the previous timeline. In this timeline, pretty much the same series of events happened, Giovanni was even executed still, but it all happened a lot sooner than Ash's journey through Unova, and Dawn still played a part.
Gesturing to Silver, Dawn asked, "Why specifically are you so keen on leaving Johto?"
"People here in Johto who know of my family heritage believe that I intend on bringing back Team Rocket," Silver explained, "Despite how that's something that I NEVER intend to do. But I have been troubled from time to time because of that suspicion. Team Heart members in particular are by no means fond of me, I'm barely able to avoid trouble by showing that I'm always playing according to Team Heart rules."
"That makes sense," Kenny said, "Team Heart doesn't want competition, especially as they own and rule over half of the world right now."
"Alright Silver," Dawn began, "Let's say that I do agree to give you passage aboard The Big Beauty. Where is it that you wanna go?"
"Any of the free lands," Silver replied, "I'll accept any between Kanto, Sinnoh, Kalos, or Alola that you agree to take me to. I'd prefer to be as far from Johto as possible, though."
"Do you have any means to pay for passage?" Mina asked.
Silver gently shook his head in the negative. "No, I was planning to, if it came down to it, try to battle to earn passage."
Mina was about to speak up, but Dawn stopped her. "Mina, Silver here doesn't have to pay or battle to be able to board The Big Beauty," Dawn said. Looking to Silver, Dawn went on, "Just so you know, my crew and I will be stopping in New Bark Town for the night, we wanna check in with Professor Elm before leaving Johto. We've finished the field research we've had planned for Johto, so we were planning to head on back to our home region of Sinnoh. We'd rather not have to stop off in Kanto anyway, so you'll be far and away from Johto. Will that all be acceptable?"
Silver nodded once in agreement. "Yes, that sounds perfect."
"Oh, Silver has some luggage he's bringing with him," Gold said, "Just a trunk and two suitcases of his stuff, mostly clothes for himself and various supplies to care for his Pokémon. But I think he's bringing a few books as well."
"Considering how he's saying he's moving out of Johto, it makes sense that he's got some luggage," Trip remarked.
"Wait a minute, hol' up," Mina began, "If Silver is moving out of Johto, then why can't he just move across the border into Kanto if it's a free land he wants to get to?"
"I told you, I can't afford to move," Silver replied.
Dawn nodded once in understanding; she also figured that Team Heart would not be exactly keen on people moving out of territories that they own and into one of the free lands. "Very well," Dawn said, "Go and get your luggage and bring it over here. I'll tell my crew that we're giving passage to a guest and that we're going to bring said guest to Sinnoh with us."
Silver nodded once in thanks before turning around to go get his luggage. Dawn wasn't exactly sure if she and her crew would get into trouble with helping someone move out of Johto, especially someone like Silver who has a familial connection to the now long defunct Team Rocket, but it was clear that Silver wanted to get out of Johto. It was no trouble to Dawn, especially as she got to see someone who she saw only in the games in her previous life.
She also had no reason to believe that helping Silver move out of Johto would come back to bite her in the fanny later for any odd reason.
Later, The Big Beauty landed in New Bark Town, where the reborn trainers got off to go meet with Professor Elm. "You kids actually completed the Johto Pokédex," Elm said, looking amazed, "Never would I even begin to imagine that this would ever happen...!"
"Yeah, best not to let Team Heart know about some of the captures that we made here in the Johto region," Dawn said, "Also, it's best not to let them know were working on completing the Pokédexes of all regions."
Elm nodded in agreement. "I have a method of communication with Oak in the Kanto region that Team Heart can't tap, also it's safe. I can have him send me one of Kanto Champion Ash's Pokémon under the guise of doing research, I give the Pokémon a letter in an envelope to hold, and then send the Pokémon back to Oak after a while to make it look like I did research on said Pokémon."
The reborn trainers saw value in that plan; it was also similar to the mail system in the gen three Hoenn games. Speaking of Hoenn. "Professor Elm," Dawn began, "My crew and I plan to head over to the Hoenn region next to continue our work there."
Elm immediately looked concerned. "So you're leaving one territory ruled by Team Heart, only to go into another such territory."
"We have friends living in Hoenn we wanna check up on," Trip explained, "And there's Pokémon over in Hoenn we can't get anywhere else."
Elm had an understanding look on his face. "I'd rather that you all don't go to any lands under the banner of Team Heart. But given the undertaking you've taken... well, just try to be safe." Folding his arms over his chest, Elm said, "So what's this about a new crew mate you picked up while you were in Blackthorn City?"
"We're giving him a lift somewhere," Dawn replied, "Nothing too big. He's not actually joining the crew of The Big Beauty."
"You aren't helping to smuggle someone out of Johto, are you?" Elm asked, "Because you could get into some serious trouble with Team Heart if you take the wrong person out of Johto and into one of the free lands where they'll be out of the Empire's reach."
"We're just helping someone move out of Johto because he can't afford to do so on his own," Mina said, "There's no need to worry."
Elm still looked concerned, but he decided to let it go for the time being. "Very well," Elm said, "Now, you all said you were going to Hoenn, yes? I'll contact Professor Birch to let him know, although I will try to be vague in case Team Heart tries tapping the call. Oh, I almost forgot!" To the reborn trainers, Elm said, "You may get to meet Professor Birch's son Brendan. He's the Champion of Hoenn."
The reborn trainers were surprised to hear that Professor Birch's son Brendan is the Champion of Hoenn in this timeline. The reborn trainers were also mostly surprised to hear that Professor Birch even has any children; Dawn however did recognize the name Brendan as the default name for the male player character in the Hoenn games in her previous life.
Dawn also found it amusing that Brendan is Birch's son; May here is Norman's daughter, and May is the female player character for the Hoenn games in Dawn's previous life, although here May is what Kenny would classify as an NPC. The player of the Hoenn games is the Petalburg City gym leader's kid while the rival is Birch's kid. But here it seems that things were flipped around so that they were the opposite. Pretty interesting.
"Of course," Kenny said, "If the local Team Heart authority in Hoenn catches wind of us being there, then I have no doubt that we'll be summoned to meet with the heads of Team Heart in Hoenn so as to explain why we're in Hoenn."
Elm nodded in understanding. "Yes, Admin Ken of the Hoenn Sector of Team Heart. He's also the Head of State for Hoenn."
"I got it that Ken suffered from Classism due to growing up poor," Mina said.
Elm nodded in the affirmative. "Yes, Admin Ken isn't exactly fond of rich people, although he does make exceptions. He reportedly originally lived here in Johto before his family moved to Hoenn due to it being cheaper. They had lived in the poor neighborhood of Lilicove City ever since, although Ken now lives elsewhere in Lilicove City."
"Anything else that we should know about?" Dawn asked.
"Classism is a very sore spot for Ken," Elm began, "No doubt due in no small part because Ken had suffered from it growing up. I advise against acting classist while in Hoenn."
The reborn trainers all nodded in understanding. After thanking Professor Elm for his time, the reborn trainers all left his lab and returned to The Big Beauty. There they and the crew, plus their guest Silver, rested the night. When day broke the following morning, The Big Beauty took up into the air and took off for home, for the Sinnoh region.
...Carrying one more person on board than what they were aware of.
The Big Beauty was warmly received in Twinleaf Town, although the gathered townsfolk were all a bit surprised that Dawn and her crew brought someone back with them. Silver, with help from a guy with a truck, was able to get his luggage to a motel in Twinleaf Town. Silver came back to see the reborn trainers to thank them for the lift out of Johto and into one of the free lands.
"Yeah, I unpacked a bit because I plan to rest at the motel," Silver said, "But once I'm done resting I plan to make my way to Alola."
Hearing Silver say he was going to go to Alola reminded Dawn that she and the other reborn trainers were going to go there eventually. Getting all of the Alolan Pokémon registered as caught aside, the reborn trainers also had to check in on Sophocles, because of what they found out Misty's older sisters had all done. Dawn was about to speak up, but Mina cut in with, "Hey, I thought you didn't have money hence why you couldn't afford to move out of Johto on your own! How is it that you're paying for the motel? Not to mention how you're planning to go to Alola!"
"I actually do have money, but it's not sufficient enough to afford me to have moved out of Johto on my own," Silver said, "Team Heart is as evil as they are greedy."
Shrugging, Kenny said, "That makes sense to me!"
Looking to Silver, Dawn said, "Are you going to be alright on your own now, Silver? I mean you did just leave a lot behind when you moved out of Johto."
Sighing, Silver said, "I'll survive. It's what I'm good at. Although I will admit that I'll miss getting to be able to challenge Gold to battles on occasion, even if I've never beaten him. I guess the idea of getting to beat Gold kept me going to try to better myself as a trainer. Oh well, my Pokémon and I will have to find another rival to keep our edges keen."
"Good luck at wherever your travels may take you, Silver," Trip said as he and the other reborn trainers waved Silver off. None of the reborn trainers were ever expecting to meet the gen two rival in this new life of theirs, but they not only met him but found him to be far more agreeable that what they would have expected, given his character in the video games in their previous life.
Dawn as she and the others saw Silver off could only hope that things will turn out well for him, given that he really isn't all that bad of a person. He's also a seriously strong trainer, if his boasts of being the rival of Gold, who is the Champion of Johto after all, are true. Strength and talent like that shouldn't go to waste.
"Woo!" Kenny cheered as he and the other reborn trainers relaxed in Twinleaf Town, "We're two dexes out of nine complete! Just seven more to go!"
"Technically eight more to go as Hisui is it's own dex," Trip said, "But we got pretty much everything from Hisui aside from Enamorus, so one blip and a third dex is complete."
Turning to look at Dawn, Mina began, "Hey Dawn, it's Hoenn we're going to next, right? What big name catches are there to worry about?"
"Latias and the original Regi trio," Dawn replied, "We already have all other legendaries and mythicals in the Hoenn Dex."
"Oh!" Kenny said, "That fatass fashion girl Tabitha! Her family is related to Pyramid King Brandon and inherited his Pokémon when he was killed! We can just hit them up to get the Regis!" It was true; Pyramid King Brandon had sadly (arguably) met the same end in the Team Heart timeline, but for a slightly altered reason. His relatives who live in Sinnoh, which includes Tabitha, had ended up getting Brandon's Pokémon, including all of his Regis. Kenny got Regigigas from them.
Shrugging, Dawn said, "Alright, before we actually head off to Hoenn, let's go visit Tabitha's family and see if we can at least touch trade to get Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, and Regidrago all registered as caught. It'll eliminate all big name Hoenn catches aside from one, as well as knock out two names from the Galar dex before we even get to it."
...
As it turned out, Tabitha and her family were all too eager to simply turn the five Regis over to the custody of the reborn trainers. The reason being is that Tabitha and her family simply can't manage not only the number of Pokémon left behind to them by the late Pyramid King (he did have other Pokémon that weren't the Regis), but the Regis simply were too strong for them to be able to handle, with Tabitha's mom wondering how Brandon did it.
Even more surprisingly, the reborn trainers didn't even have to battle the Regis in order to earn their obedience, they recognized the strength and skill of the reborn trainers from the get go and were ready and willing to listen. To balance things out, Trip got Registeel and Regieleki, Dawn got Regice and Regidrago, and Kenny got Regirock, given he already owned Regigigas. This acquisition had helped the reborn trainers cover a lot of big names on the Pokédex.
"However, I would like a favor from you all if possible," Tabitha said, "I don't suppose you're planning a trip to one of the regions under the Team Heart banner, are you?"
"Actually, we're planning to head to Hoenn soon," Dawn replied, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I'm seeking to break out into the fashion and modeling world," Tabitha replied, "And I feel like I can make my way down the walkway in Team Heart territory."
"You want to move... into the Team Heart Empire," Trip said, sounding like he didn't believe what he was hearing. He and the other reborn trainers had just helped someone with moving OUT OF the Team Heart Empire, now they're being asked to help someone with moving INTO the Team Heart Empire. "Why do you wanna move into a land where Team Heart's word is law?"
"Like I said, I feel as if I can break out into the fashion and modeling world in the Team Heart Empire," Tabitha replied. She rubbed a plump hand over her very considerable belly. "Team Heart has absolutely no trouble with folks living larger than life," Tabitha remarked, sounding a little bit resigned, "You'd be surprised by how hard it is for bigger girls such as myself to get into the fashion and modeling world in any of the free lands. Team Heart will actually take me, welcome me with open arms even."
"I'm also coming with Tabitha," remarked Tabitha's little sister, "I wanna see the world outside of the Sinnoh region."
The reborn trainers were reminded about how discrimination is more or less nonexistent in the Team Heart Empire, and that various forms of discrimination are illegal, with fatphobia being held by Team Heart as the ultimate taboo. Tabitha, who is very undeniably very much very fat, has no doubt faced discrimination over her size. It's actually rather jarring how some people in any of the free lands may actually prefer to live in the Team Heart Empire.
"Unova is the fashion and modeling capital of the Team Heart Empire," Dawn said to Tabitha, "Can you and your little sister here wait until my crew and I have to handle business in Unova to move to the Team Heart Empire?"
"Ooh, that's a lovely idea," Tabitha remarked, "I can already see myself strutting down the walkway in fashion shows in Nimbasa City! Although I'm also a rather dab hand at fashion design if I do say so myself."
"I'll dab your hand!" Kenny exclaimed challengingly at Tabitha while pointing at her, drawing a very confused and mildly surprised look from Tabitha.
Sighing, Dawn said, "Kenny, when Tabitha said 'dab hand', she was describing how she feels that she's very much skilled at whatever activity she was talking about. She means to say that she's rather good at fashion design."
"...Oh," Kenny replied, sitting back down calmly.
Tabitha's little sister couldn't help but laugh at Kenny being silly. Everyone else at the meeting also burst out laughing, even Kenny. Despite how the reborn trainers and the rest of the crew of The Big Beauty was heading back into danger because they were going to another region that's part of the Team Heart Empire, they felt as if things were going to be alright.
(Melemele Island, Alola region)
Silver and Eric, both dressed for the tropical climate of Alola, stepped out of the airport and into the main city on Melemele Island. "Ah, the smell of true freedom," Eric said, "Now that we are here, all of our worries are a thing of the past."
"I still can't believe we were able to get out of Johto and over to Sinnoh," Silver replied, "And from there fly to Alola. It still seems so hard to believe that we're now in one of the free lands."
"Believe it, Silver my good man," Eric remarked, "Anyway, now that we're in Alola, we can begin with the plan to strike it rich and live it up."
Silver arched a wry eyebrow. "And how do you plan for us to 'strike it rich' as you say?"
"The people of Alola have never met someone such as yours truly," Eric began, "Trust me when I say that these ignorant islanders will be easier to fleece than the jerks in Johto. We'll be richer than any wealthy elite living in the Team Heart Empire faster than you can say dollah dollah bills y'all."
Silver wasn't sure about Eric's plan, but for some odd reason he found himself drawn in by the sheer charisma that Eric exuded. Silver was still surprised that not only was he able to smuggle Eric out of Johto, but that Dawn Berlitz and her crew never suspected a thing. If word ever got out to the Team Heart Empire that Eric had escaped from Admin Coryn of Johto and that Dawn Berlitz is the reason, then Team Heart may not be all that fond of Sinnoh.
"...I know that you are excited to be in one of the free lands now, Eric," Silver began, "But it's best to keep a low profile. Team Heart has agents all over the world, even in the free lands. Use an alias, use disguises. You don't wanna be recognized, captured, and dragged back to Johto where you will be executed, do you?"
"Hmm, you got a valid point there, Silver," Eric replied, "Very well. It's often said that the best revenge is living well. I intend to get revenge on that bleeding heart Marshall, that poor hick Ken, and most of all that damn fucking donz Coryn by living better than all of them combined." Rubbing his hands together in eager anticipation, Eric went on, "And that, Silver my good man, shall begin here in our very own tropical paradise."
"You... plan to take Alola and make it ours," Silver said, not sure if even Eric can pull that off.
"Oh ho ho, you'd be very surprised by what all I can pull off if I put my mind to it," Eric replied, "Now then, let's get going on finding a place to live." Eric took the lead as he led Silver off to find some lodgings for themselves. Today marked the beginning of Silver's and Eric's new lives, and they are going to be lives lived well if Eric had anything to say about it.
END, CHAPTER ELEVEN
Author's notes;
This chapter sees Dawn and the other reborn trainers finish up the Johto Pokédex, and as a result finish up their time in Johto to the relief of the Team Heart members in Johto. However, Dawn gets a call from Kenta the Vice Principal of Blackthorn City Academy, who asks Dawn and her crew to come to Blackthorn City Academy. Figuring that they could see Ideku and his friends again one last tike before leaving Johto, the reborn trainers agree.
There at Blackthorn City Academy, they meet Silver, the rival from the Johto games, where he asks Dawn to take him out of Johto and over to any of the free lands. A few points are explained, and Dawn agrees to take Silver with her to Sinnoh. The Big Beauty lands in New Bark Town so the reborn trainers would be able to see Professor Elm, then after resting the night they fly back home over to the Sinnoh region, where Silver takes off.
The reborn trainers make plans to complete the Hoenn Pokédex next, and get the idea to see the family of Tabitha, who's related to Pyramid King Brandon who still died. They just get the other five Regis from Tabitha's family, and all they have to do is help Tabitha and her little sister move to one of the regions under the Team Heart banner. Dawn, surprised to see it that someone WANTS TO move to the Team Heart Empire, convinces Tabitha to wait until the crew goes to Unova.
Meanwhile, Silver and Eric who Silver had been able to smuggle out of Johto arrive in the Alola region, where Eric plans to strike his fortune while also plotting to get revenge on Marshall, Coryn, and Ken. Silver is able to convince Eric to keep a low profile, partly because Silver worries what can happen if it gets out that not only did Eric escape from the Team Heart Empire but also that it was due to the unknowing help of Dawn and her crew.
Well anyway, this chapter marks the end of the Johto arc of this story, with the next chapter being the beginning of the Hoenn arc. Until then, take care.
