They finally reached their destination. After the few days preparation they set out to where Ra's was hiding. A deserted island that also had a Lazarus pit. They were going in in two teams.
Jade and Jason were going to be on the first team, and Grayson and Drake were on the other team. This would give them the most balance for their purpose. After getting their signal, they all started to move.
Jason was running behind Jade. He had his guns and could cover her back, which wouldn't obscure her vision. There was no avoiding fights, so they were heading straight for the entrance.
They soon came within range of the assassins. They were ready for them. Jade quickly engaged. She circled the assassins, always on the move so she wouldn't get cornered due to their sheer numbers.
She also made sure to cover Jason's back. They made their way towards the stairs. They were heading for the pit. While they couldn't find any maps of the base, it wasn't hard to imagine where the pit would be.
Ra's was letting them. While the assassins were high-level, they were not nearly enough to stop them. This could mean that either Ra's had a secret plan to stop them or the higher-level assassins were in the cave with the pit.
Either way, they had to wait to find out. It wasn't hard to find the stairs. They had some explosives with them in case they needed to force their way, but it was better not to use them early on.
They continued forward, and soon, they reached the cave. Ra was waiting for them, standing in front of the pit with his elite assassins. "To what do I owe this pleasure?" He said sarcastically.
"What the hell are you trying to do to Gotham's water system?" Jason said. Jade was going to let him take care of the talking since putting her weapons away to sign would be irrational.
"Oh, and why would I give you the information?" He said casually.
"56.7642° N, 113.3317° W ,48.9647° N, 2.6366° E ,-23.7883° S, 122.3248° E,…" Jason started to list. They were coordinates to the pits.
While they could never be sure to have coordinates for all, they had coordinates for most of them. Jade could clearly see Ra's face darken.
"So that's the game you want to play?" Ra's gritted through his teeth.
"No, this is." And with that, they charged to attack. Jason quickly went to engage Ra's while Jade took care of the other assassins. No one would dare to interrupt Ra's fight, so she didn't have to worry about that.
She needed an opening. She moved among the assassins. Hitting them with well-aimed slashes and avoiding their swords, and then there it was. She quickly jumped up to avoid a sword aimed at her head and backflipped to get herself closer to the pit.
She immediately grabbed what she was looking for from her belt. A small bomb. She pressed the button to activate the timer and threw it into the pit. She didn't have much time to get away but quickly cut down a few more assassins and got away just in time for the bomb to blow.
"NOOOOO!" Ra's yelled, and Jade used the opportunity to get closer to Jason. She stood a few steps behind him. As the bomb cleared, the results were clear.
The once-green glowing water of the pit had turned a murky brown.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" Ra's yelled. He was truly angry now. His eyes were glowing green.
"A present from the Timmy. He found a way to neutralize the pits." Jason simply said as he tried to make himself look bigger and be the center of attention.
There was more to the story. Drake had been working on it for years, but he never had enough information to complete the project. But after his mother gave her the information about the location of the pits, they found a smaller one that wasn't monitored.
With unlimited access to the pit, it was easy to experiment and move the project forward. They had to call in a lot of favors and work with some shady people, but they now had the solution.
Ra's hand went to his sword. "Ah ah ah. Remember all those coordinates. Right now, there are teams situated in each of them. If I get disconnected from my comm or simply give the signal, they will all go down." Jason said. Ra's was hesitating, and that was what they wanted.
"And how would I know that this is not an empty threat?" He asked. His stance was now neutral. He was not going to attack immediately. But he was too fast to let their guard down at such a simple gesture.
"You can check with your assassins in those bases. As you can tell, we only targeted the pits you have people to protect." Jason said. Ra's looked at one of the remaining assassins who quickly left the room.
After a few minutes of silence he was back, presenting a laptop to Ra's. Ra's face clearly twisted with anger.
