"Good morning. Ms. Perez had to fly out of town because of a family emergency. I'm Blaine Anderson and will take over her classes until she's back" Blaine greets the graduating class. It's the third time today he entered a class like that and for today luckily the last time.
The curly haired man puts his bag down at the teachers desk and goes to the blackboard to write his name on it. Rather that way than being asked what's his name is over and over again. He learned that today. Blaine turns back to the class and looks how the students sit in two rows of some sort of half circle. Quickly Blaine takes his own chair and sits down, facing them all "I introduce myself shortly and tell you a bit about myself and then it's your turn so we all get to know each other a little" he continues.
His eyes wander through the group of students again and 15 pair of eyes look back at him. "Right. I'm Blaine Anderson. I'm 27 and I studied music. Currently I'm working on a new album before I got asked to teach but I'll keep working on it in my free time. I never teached before today so be patient with me but I'm still very exited to be here. Now your names" he looks at the girl that sits on the right of the front row. The blond young woman looks at him with heart eyes as he says to her "Go".
"I'm Madeline Heyer, 20 years old" she says and then looks to her right so the student next to her can introduce himself. From time to time Blaine takes a few more looks at the other students, trying to remember the names of those who already introduced themselves. As he does that he realizes that Madeline isn't the only girl who stares at him with heart eyes. If only they would know that he's gay. It would shatter their hopes but at least they would stop looking at him like that.
"I'm Rachel Berry and I'm 21" a brown haired young woman introduces herself confidentally. She doesn't look at him with heart eyes. "Santana Lopez. Also 21" the black haired woman next to her says shortly. She too doesn't look at him with heart eyes.
Then it almost throws Blaine off his chair. A young man. The most handsome Blaine has ever seen. Blue eyes, pale skin, stylish outfit and chestnut colored hair. Then he hears the young mans voice. That beautiful voice. "Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel and I'm also 21" he, Kurt, introduces himself. Blaine nods and looks to the student next to Kurt but suddenly it got a lot harder to concentrate on names. Kurt. Wow. But no. Blaine reminds himself, be professional. He's a student. Blaine is his teacher. Temporary but still. Student and teacher. That can't be. Wait. What was the name of the student sitting next to Kurt? Kurt. Kurt…
It's late afternoon when Kurt, Rachel and Santana finally get home from their last class. Tiredly Kurt sits down on the couch and turns on the tv, skipping through the channels. "Spill Lady Hummel" Santana says when she sits down next to him. "What?" Kurt asks so the latina woman tries again "The substitude teacher. I was kind enough to not make you say it at school but admit that you find him attractive. I know the way you look at him".
"Yes okay. Fine. He's handsome. Like, really handsome. These eyes, like honey. Uh, no. More like hazel. And his hair. These curls. I bet they are super soft. He came into class and I thought wow. Then he tells us he's a musican and his voice sounds so good. When he showed Paul how to belt with more strength I- just wow" Kurt admits "Satisfied Satan?". "Very" the latina smirks and stands up again.
"Hummel has a crush" she sings to herself as she goes to the kitchen. Rachel just closed the door of the bathroom as she went out of it. She hears what her friend said and looks confused "Who has a crush?". "Kurt" Santana shrugs and Rachels eyes widen "Really? Who?". "That new teacher" Santana smirks.
On that Rachel hurries to the couch "The teacher?! Really Kurt?". "Can't help it" Kurt shrugs "Doesn't matter anyway. I don't even know if he's gay". "Oh he is" comes from Santana in the kitchen "You can trust my gaydar". "Kurt he's six years older than you but for the time being most important he's your teacher and you're his student. I mean he's cute and you two would be cute but at least one of us needs to be somewhat responsible" Rachel says.
Kurt sighs "Rachel you haven't been with anyone since you and Finn broke up after graduation". He hears Santana laugh and rolls his eyes "Santana you also only had one girl after Britt for a week or so because you wanted to try to forget her. Besides girls it's just a crush. We know him since noon, one class. Maybe he turns out to be an complete asshole and I only like his looks and his voice. And maybe his talent". Rachel throws a pillow at him and Kurt laughs "Okay I stop".
On Tuesday and Thursday Kurt and Blaine see each other in the hallways of NYADA and on Wednesday in class. They smile at each other but that's it. Blaine still needs a little longer finding his way to the classrooms in the big building so he often has to hurry to classes he has to teach.
Rachel and Santana have to pull Kurt with them after seeing Mr. Anderson on the hallway. Kurt has a crush. A big one. Like most of the girls in his class and probably in other classes too.
In class on Wednesday Kurt watches Blaine closely. His open gesture when he talks to the students, the smile that is always on his face, the way his chest moves when he talks or sings or just breathes. Blaine is right handed. His handwriting is cleaner than most men's but not as clean as Kurts own. The student can hardly concentrate but he still manages to take some notes about methods to strengthen the voice without staining too much. They already learned a lot of that but they are the graduating class and as everyone has to prepare a song for their final it can't hurt to repeat everything again so they can practice.
On Friday Kurt watches Blaine just as close and god he must look like all these girls with the heart eyes who always annoy him. It's the last class for the day and normally Kurt would get up really slow to watch the teacher just for a moment longer but today he has to leave quickly. Like every Friday. Shouldn't be too bad but the others get to be around Mr. Anderson for just one moment longer than him. God his crush is unbelievable and of all people it has to be his teacher. Of course.
As soon as the young teacher finishes his last sentance Kurt, Rachel and Santana practically jump up to leave the class. On their way to the subway they stop at a coffee cart to get some more caffeine in their blood before their shift at the spotlight diner begins. At home they put down their stuff, fresh up and change into their work clothes. Fridays are stressful but it's either that or work from 1 to 7 when the sun starts to rise and that is even more problematic when class on Monday starts at 9. So they rather work from 7 to 1 in the evening.
It's already quite busy when the three friends arrive for their shift so they just put their bag and jacket down and get to work. Luckily work is stressful enough to distract Kurt from his crush. Until the first wave is gone. More people will come in later, around midnight, but for now it's quiet and they only have two tables to serve.
Finally it gives them an opportunity to eat something themselves and get another cup of coffee. After all they still have a bit more than two hours to go. "You know Hummel, I love to watch you watch Anderson in class. That way I know I'm not the only psycho in this group" Santana says as soon as the friends sit at a table themselves and start to eat. "Ha. Ha. Santana" Kurt only comments with an eye roll.
Rachel also rolls her eyes "Let Kurt have his crush. Eventually he'll come to his senses. Little reminder, he's our teacher. Maybe one day you'll meet someone like him who's your age? Maybe he has a younger brother?". "Calm down Berry. Six years is not the world" Santana says. Kurt sighs "Enough girls. And no I won't ask him if he has a little brother and neither will you. I know you two way too good to not warn you". "Uhh. Grumpy Kurt" Santana laughs and even Rachel smiles "Let us have some fun Kurtie". She smirks and stands up. On stage she puts on some music and winks at Kurt before she starts singing.
Young boy
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, boy
You're much too young, boy
With all the charms of a man
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth
Woah, oh, oh
Young boy
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
You'd better run, boy
You're much too young, boy
Beneath your perfume and creams
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know
That it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That 'come on' look is in your eyes
Woah, oh, oh
Young boy
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, boy
You're much too young, boy
So hurry home to your daddy
I'm sure he wonders where you are
Get out of here
Before I have the time
To change my mind
'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far
Woah, oh, oh
Young boy
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
You'd better run, boy
You're much too young, boy
Young boy
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
You'd better run, boy
You're much too young, boy
Young boy
Get out of my mind
When Rachel gets off stage and sees Kurts face she knows that she better sleeps with one eye open tonight but it was totally worth it. "Relax Kurt. It's all just for fun" she says. In that moment the door opens and the next wave of people comes in. "Back to work guys" Barry their boss calls them. With a sad expression Rachel looks at her plate. She ate almost nothing because she was busy with singing and mocking Kurt. This time Kurt is the one who laughs "Karma".
It's two when Kurt, Rachel and Santana get home. As always they are tired so they just say goodnight and get ready for bed. Kurt only brushes his teeth and changes into his pyjama. He just wants to sleep. As soon as his head hits the pillow his eyes closes shut and he's off to dreamland.
When it's Monday again Kurt can't wait to have class with Mr Anderson. Sure he enjoyed Ms Perez class and hopes she does well with her family emergency but he feels like he could looks at Blaine for forever and still won't be bored.
After class Kurt packs his stuff away, Santana and Rachel wait for him as always. "I saw this café on the weekend down the street of my brothers apartment. It's cute. Maybe I could invite you for a coffee on the weekend?" god these girls really drive Kurt nuts. Now they're asking him out for coffee. After two weeks. Their teacher. Annoyed Kurt rolls his eyes and continues packing but freezes when he hears Blaine answer "Thanks but no thanks. I'm gay".
His head shoots up to Blaine who just smiles at the young woman. She looks sad but Kurt is over the moon and Blaines smile doesn't help grounding him. Quickly Kurt looks away again, takes him bag and stands up. He leaves the class with Rachel and Santana who smirks "I told you my gaydar is never wrong".
