What You Need To Know
This is without a shred of doubt a MAJOR AU work. While many things will have stayed the same, there are several KEY differences in this story. This story will definitely earn it's M Rating, contain EXPLICIT sex scenes, numerous kinks, gratuitous violence, possible character death (haven't decided on that yet to be honest), foul language, and other assorted things that quite frankly define adult life. Dare I say this story will take a kinky but somewhat realistic view of adults acting in adult situations. Realistic being rather relative, since we are in fact dealing with a story that features MAGIC at it's very essence.
What's Changed
The biggest change will be Hogwarts itself. I never understood why such a "prestigious" magic school only trained kids who were essentially grade, middle, and high school age. So in this story, Hogwarts will actually live up to it's claim of being the "best magic school" and train it's students from high school age through college/university age. This story will have the starting age of Hogwarts students at 15. There will be three levels of standardized tests that the WEA, led by Marchbanks, will give to the students of Hogwarts.
The first level of tests administered by the WEA (Wizarding Exam Authority) will be the BAT, or Basic Aptitude Test. This will be administered at the end of the third year, and will take the place of the traditional OWL that the canon saw students taking at the end of their 5th year. Students are REQUIRED BY LAW to be able to pass their BATs, or they'll be expelled, their wand snapped, and in the case of mundane raised, their memories altered. This would be the mundane equivalent of graduating High School.
The second level of tests administered by the WEA will be the OWL, which in this story stands for Outstanding Wizarding Levels. This will take the place of the canon NEWT that was given in a student's seventh year. This would be the equivalent of graduating with an Associate's Degree from college/university.
The third and final level of tests administered by the WEA will be the NEWT, and it will be administered in a student's seventh year. Passing the NEWT will be considered the equivalent of graduating from college/university.
In this story, I figure that roughly 50% of students will only attend Hogwarts until their 5th year. 25% of students will only attend for their BAT, and leave after their 3rd year. 15% will attend a full seven years, while the final 10% will flunk out or end up expelled for other reasons.
Another Big Change is that Snape will NOT be a professor at Hogwarts. He may or may not be part of the Castle, and may or may not be on Staff, but he WILL NOT be a Professor or Head Of House for Slytherin. Instead, the Professor for Potions will be none other than Sophie Cortina Curie, or Professor Curie. A Special Bonus will be given to the first person who can accurately tell me where I got that name from.
Perhaps the biggest change is the Point System. Yes, students can and will earn themselves points for their House by doing good in class, and lose points for bad behavior. However, there will be a tangible reason to do good on a personal level, besides winning "glory" for your house. Doing well on homework and tests will earn students Credits (or some other named "currency" that I haven't decided on yet), while egregious behavior will earn Demerits. Each Semester (Fall, Winter, and Spring), students with three or more demerits will end up in the BOOK. Students who wish to earn extra Credits can voluntarily enter the BOOK as well. What is the BOOK you may ask? Well, that'd be telling. Let's just say that the BOOK plays HEAVILY into the fetish/kink theme that Hogwarts has become known for...
The Point System will be fair and unbiased! Demerits and Credits will be earned legitimately.
The Fall Semester will begin from September 1 and end at December 21st. The Winter Semester will begin January 4th and end March 15th. The Spring Semester will begin March 21th and end May 15th. The BAT, OWL, and NEWT tests begin June 1st and end June 7th. School ends June 7th and resumes September 1st.
Summary
It's Harry Potter's third year, and he realizes that desperately needs to become a better wizard. He realizes that luck is a fickle thing, and that he can't rely on "sheer dumb luck" to survive into adulthood and beyond the hallowed halls of Hogwarts. Harry also realizes that left to his own devices, he will more then likely continue to be a mediocre student and not realize anything close to his full potential. He realizes he needs a firm and loving hand to guide him. Someone to push him when he needs pushing. Someone to reward him when he does good. Someone to punish, that is "correct" him when he does wrong or when he is lazy. Harry Potter realizes that if he is to become a great wizard, he needs to have a great witch behind him. Harry believes the saying "behind every great man is an even greater woman."
While there may be flashbacks to earlier times, this story will take place at the beginning of third year. The canon events at Hogwarts from books 1 and 2 will take place, except that Snape is NOT the Potions Professor. Slughorn will have been the Potions Professor, and will have retired at the end of book 2.
This story will have the Dursleys as utterly indifferent to Harry. While they never abused him or locked him in a cupboard beneath the stairs, they also never showed him any love and very little positive affection. They don't see magicals as Freaks, since they don't know magic exists (memory erased of magic) and see Hogwarts as a good school for Harry, since it has him away for almost 10 months of the year.
Pairings
While there will be several polyamory pairings, the MAIN pairings will be Harry/Hermione and Curie/Janus (aka Mr. Black aka The Dark Pharaoh). There will be yet another Bonus for the first person to successfully identify the TRUE NAME of Janus. Harry and Curie will be subs/pets, Hermione will be a Domme, and Janus is something else...

'OK Harry, you can do this!' Harry thought to myself while on the Hogwarts Express. 'It's my BAT year, and I need to, no I have to change! I need to become the Wizard I was always meant to be. All I need to do is ask her. She's my best friend, I'm sure she'll help me.' I glance over to Hermione, and I gulp 'my beautiful best friend. I'm soooo dead!'
"Ask me already." Hermione suddenly says, startling Harry greatly. "Ron's off somewhere being Ron. We're alone, or as alone as we can be on a train." Seeing Harry's startled, shocked, and somewhat guilty look, Hermione sighs and continues on "you've been alternating between looking at me and looking at the floor Harry. Go ahead and ask me. I won't bite," then Hermione suddenly smiles "unless you ask me to that is."
"This is hard for me to ask Hermione. I'm afraid once I say what I need to say and ask you what's been on my mind all summer long, that things will change." Taking a deep breath, Harry looks Hermione in the eyes and continues on "I'm terrified Hermione. I'm terrified that I'll bollocks up our friendship. You're my best friend. No, you're more then my best friend."
"Harry? Do you mean what I think you mean?" Hermione asks, suddenly just as nervous as Harry is.
"Promise me Hermione. Promise me that no matter what, we won't lose our friendship."
"Of course Harry! Nothing and I mean NOTHING will make me lose you as my best friend!" Hermione quickly gives Harry a loving hug, then swats him on his butt. "Now spill mister. I believe you have something to ask me."
"Yes mistress" Harry obediently responds.
"Harry? Did you just say what I thought you said?" Hermione asks Harry with an unreadable expression on her face. Well, unreadable to a 17 year old male that is.
Taking a moment to grab something from his pocket, Harry responds "well, it wasn't how I was going to ask you, but yeah, it is. You're right Hermione. You've been right all along. I need to, no I want to be better. I know I can do more. I just need a someone who I trust, who I love, to guide me. To be my boss, to take control. To reward me when I do good. To punish me when I don't. To encourage me to be the man and wizard that I was meant to be." Taking a breath, Harry continues on "I've thought about this all summer long. To be honest I've hardly thought of anything else. I've thought about who to ask for help, and one name has always entered my mind Hermione. Only one person I've ever felt that I could trust. Only one person that I've ever felt that I could love."
"Harry?" Hermione asks. "Are you asking me what I think you're asking me?"
Handing Hermione the box, Harry continues on. "Yes Hermione. I'm asking you to be my girlfriend, my Mistress, and once we graduate, this is my promise that I will ask you to be my wife." Glancing up, Harry sees Hermione open the box. He sees her gasp, and then begin to cry while fingering the item in the box. "Oh god I'm so sorry Hermione. I bollocks it up! I umph!"
Placing a hand on Harry's lips, Hermione silences him. "You mean it Harry? You want ME to be your girlfriend?" Harry nods his head yes. Smiling, Hermione continues on "you want me to be your Mistress?" Harry, beginning to figure out that he did very good, nods his head yes. "You want me to be your wife one day?"
"More than anything in the world."
"More than anything in the world what?" Hermione parrots back with an expecting look.
Daring to hope, Harry answers back "More than anything in the world Mistress."
"That's better. To answer the questions that I see in your eyes Harry, these were happy tears. Yes, I love you too! I would like nothing better then to be your girlfriend and your intended Harry! Now me being your Mistress, before I say anything, there are rules Harry. You WILL agree to them, or you'll just have to settle with me being your girlfriend and your intended."
After sharing a very intimate and loving first kiss with the promise of so much more in the future, Harry asks "what are the rules Hermione?"
"First, while neither of us mind sharing and being with other girls Harry, all of our firsts WILL be with each other. Second, you're going to either complete or at least make good progress on all your homework, assignments, and projects before you're allowed to practice Quidditch, play chess, or take part in any clubs. Third, you're going to spend an hour with me each night in the Library studying, and two hours a week before each major test. Yes, I know that the night before relaxing is important, but so is reviewing, and you will review Harry. Fourth, any additions to us as a couple have to be approved by me first. Fifth, any purchases from the BOOK has to be cleared by me first. Sixth, I won't require you to give up Quidditch, but you will keep your grades up. I want you to have at least EE in each subject Harry, or show me that you're giving each subject your honest best effort. Seventh, every weekend that is not a Quidditch game day will be spent just the two of us, in private. There I'll go over the week with you Harry, give you any rewards and punishments that you've earned, as well as do 'maintenance work' with you Harry. Eighth, you're only allowed one free orgasm a day Harry. All other orgasms you're required to ask my permission first before you cum. Finally, me being your Mistress will only be while were both students at Hogwarts. If and when we marry after we graduate we can decide what roles we play. Any questions?"

Otherwise I study things that interest me, things I'm good at. For me that's Potions and Transfiguration. For you Harry, that would be Charms and DADA. Does that make sense?" After seeing Harry nod his head yes in understanding, Hermione continues on. "Maintenance work is just that Harry. Maintaining the work that I'll put into you. I won't lie Harry. If we do this, I WILL push you Harry. I WILL make you into my loving subbie bitch boyfriend and lover. But I won't push you too far or too fast. I'll start you off easy with hand spankings. "I do Mistress Hermione."
Placing the collar around Harry's neck, Hermione draws her wand and asks her final question "if I do this Harry, there's no going back. Last chance Harry, is this what you truly want?"
Taking out his wand, Harry swears "I Hadrian James Potter swear on my Life and Magic that I willingly submit to my Mistress, Hermione Jane Granger of my own free will, with no compulsions magical or mundane, until such a time that we are both no longer students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. So Mote It Be!"
Placing her wand tip on the Potter Crest of Harry's collar, Hermione intones "So Mote It Be." After a blinding flash, the two teens smile and hug. "Well Harry, that means you're mine. My boyfriend, my pet, my boy toy, my lover." Aiming her wand at the carriage door, Hermione intones "Colloportus! Impervius! Silencio! Muffiato! Cunfundo!"
"What was that for Mistress?" Harry asks.
"Today's Saturday Harry. We're alone. It's time for your maintenance work. Now strip boy toy and get ready for your spankings." Smiling with happiness, Harry quickly strips nude and walks over to Hermione. "I'm going to turn that cute tushie of yours Gryffindor Red."
