"Something must have happened to her" a worried Alec Mercer said as he paced back and forth in front of his colleague. Dr Morrilo continued to drink his tea but even he couldn't help but feel a little anxious. If something happened to their mistress that rendered her abilitys useless then they could be in real danger from the Grimm.
Alec stopped pacing and turned to Morrilo "I'm going out, if I find something I'll report back". The roar of a large Grimm came from just outside the castle but was quickly silence by a angry voice "shut up"! Morrilo and Alec exchanged surprised looks before rushing out the door.
The two arrived at the front of the castle to witness Salem scolding a leviathen class Grimm for scaring the small baby she was carrying. The giant Grimm took a step back and let out a whimper but Salem paid it no mind as she tried to calm the baby. "It's okay the bad monster won't hurt you" she whispered in jaunes ear.
There was no telling if the baby understood what she was saying but she couldn't help but believe he did because the baby stopped crying but continued to look around frantically. Salem wiped the tears from jaunes eye's "there there mommy will send the bad monsters away". A snap of her fingers and a mental command for the Grimm to depart from her castle was given.
The creatures of Grimm couldn't disobey so they turned on the spot and rushed off out of site. Salem hoisted the baby up so he could see all the Grimm running away "See all gone" she said proudly.
Alec was the first to reach his mistress but his eye's never left the small baby with blonde hair. He knew why his mistress had left so quickly which is why seeing the offspring of Nicolas Arc alive and well obviously confused him.
"Mistress this baby-"
"Will be working for me when he gets older and I'll hear no complaints from anyone on the matter" she finished before walking passed him. Morrilo finally caught up to them and gave a bow to his mistress "my queen you had us worried when you didn't return or let us know that you were okay". Salem nodded to the good doctor "you have my apologies but I'm sure your aware of my inability to die"
Morrilo nodded "of course I am aware but forgive a old man for worrying none the less". It was funny to think Morrilo was a old man when she was literally thousands of years older than him. Salem smiled "I understand and thank you".
Salem looked down to the baby in her arm's "come on jaune let's get you settled into your knew home". Alec and Morrilo watched as their mistress walk off with a smile they had never seen before. There was a feeling Alec had never felt before and all of it stemmed from that tiny baby that seemed to have a profound ability to change his mistress.
The two followed Salem back inside the castle without saying a word. Salem stopped in the center of the great hall before turning to Alec "here I'm leaving jaune under your care until I have a crib ready for him". The baby was pushed into Alec's hands before he could deny the request.
Salem vanished using her magic to move quickly through the hallway leaving the three in the hall. Alec held the baby away from him before looking to his colleague "a little help"? Morrilo took one look at the baby before making his decision "I'm sorry but there are some important matters I need to deal with".
Alec cursed the doctor as he walked away before turning to the tiny creature in his hands "I can't think of anything more humiliating then this". The baby in his hands proved him wrong when vomit shot out of his mouth and covered the front of Alec's shirt. Alec turned his head and tried to curve his anger "if it weren't Salem I'd have left you outside for the beowolfs to play with".
In response to his words jaune giggled and clapped his tiny hands together as if it was some kinda joke. Alec closed his eyes and let out a long sigh "this is going to be more trouble than it's worth".
It felt like hours had passed until Salem felt the crib she made was perfect but when it was done she felt proud of her accomplishment. Salem had built the crib in her room so jaune would remain close by in case he ever woke up in the middle of the night. Thanks to the Grimm within she barely ever slept and when she did she'd always remember the day she lost her own children.
So why sleep when all that came of it would only be pain. Night had come and she felt now was as good a chance as any to put the baby to bed. Salem used her power to look through the seer Grimm's that were littered throughout the castle to find where jaune and Alec were.
Her mind focused on one that was in the library where Alec sat on a couch with a book in his lap. The seer glided over and Salem noticed jaune and Alec fast asleep next to each other. Salem broke the connection and flew to the library to collect the baby.
Upon arriving she woke Alec up and informed him that she would be taking jaune so he wouldn't worry when he went missing. Alec nodded and allowed his mistress to take back the baby before going back to bed on the couch. Salem was sure to return to her room as quietly as possible so she wouldn't wake jaune up.
She went to place the young Arc in his crib but froze when the baby began to stir. Jaune opened his eye's slowly but closed them soon after as he fell back asleep. Salem had second thoughts about putting jaune in the crib and decided that there was nothing wrong with allowing him into her bed so long as she kept an eye on him.
The two settled into the bed next to each other and Salem watched over the young Arc as he slept. She had long forgotten the effects a child had on adults when they were together and slowly fell asleep. Her dreams that had haunted her so often were not the same this day instead they were of the happy times she had with her own children.
A picnic with Ozma to celebrate one of their children's birthdays. It had felt so long ago and just when she was beginning to enjoy herself she awoken to a dark room. Her jaw clenched and eye's burned a scarlet red but the tiny bundle of warmth at her side helped to calm the fury in her soul.
Salem leaned over and kissed jaunes forehead "thank you" she whispered. It may have been short but for the first time in thousands of years she finally felt a peaceful nap.
... Nothing to say really sooooo yeah thanks for reading I guess.
