"Jaune get up" cinder growled as she attempted to wake him up for the third time in the last five minutes. The blonde rolled in he bed and tried his best to ignore his raven haired friend but she unfortunately was very persistent. The blanket was pulled off with great force but jaune pretended to still be asleep, at least until his shirt was slightly pulled up revealing his back.

A single finger was pressed against his lower back before it became extremely hot. Jaune shot up and out of bed with one jump while trying to cool off the small burn mark cinder left him.

"Good your up" cinder said with a large grin. If it had been anyone else she was sure she'd either be punished or killed for that but watching jaune heal himself before giving her a stern glare was probably all she'd get. Cinder moved quickly and took hold of jaunes arm before she started pulling him towards the door.

The blonde couldn't even get a word out as cinder practically dragged him all the way towards the kitchen. Once they arrived in the kitchen cinder let him go and spread her arms out "here we are". Jaune yawned into his hand before noticing there really wasn't anything new about the place.

Another glance over the kitchen and still there was nothing of any significance "um, cinder what are we doing here"? Cinder looked at him like he was an idiot "what we're doing is learning how to cook or more specifically you are learning how to cook". Jaune blinked once before trying to go back to his room for more sleep.

His reaction wasn't what she wanted but she already knew jaune would need more convincing to accept her demands. "Jaune there is another reason I want you to learn cooking" cinder said seriously enough that even he couldn't ignore her. Cinder crossed her arms and held up one finger as she spoke "I overheard master Alec speaking to Salem about a camping trip with just us three".

Jaune could already feel a sudden sense of dread creep into his soul. "None of us know how to cook which is why I planned for the three of us to study up on basic ways to survive without help". Cinder wore a pleased smile "for you it'll be cooking and setting up camp, for vernal it'll be hunting and foraging while I'll be working on purifying water and setting up lines for security".

Jaune nodded to her words, finding that cinder planned way ahead for their next task. With cinder so prepared could he really argue against learning something like this? Jaune smiled at his friend "fine but I'll only do it on the condition you be my food tester".

Cinder scowled at the blonde haired boy for a moment before giving in "fine but if it's not good I'll toss it on the floor like the trash it is". Jaune smiled "fine with me". He never did tell her the real reason why he wanted her as his taster but then again it was a little bit embarrassing to admit that he wanted to be able to prepare food she like.

Unbeknownst to the two children, master Alec changed the date of their camping trip so as to catch them off guard and unprepared. When they woke up one day they found themselves in a Grimm forest with nothing but two swords and a note telling them they needed to survive on their own.

Jaune had never witnessed a person go through a mental breakdown before but watching cinder scream about not being able to eat made him slither away from her unnoticed. While he did do so he cursed his master for the crap he always seemed to put him through.
