As I'm sure you know now, the hiatus is over for now. Getting back to those childish days of this trio has been kinda enjoyable in a way.

Day 3

At first things were completely hectic for the three young students of alec's but after much bickering and constant attacks from wild grimm, the three learned to put aside their differences so they could survive. Vernal spent a good deal of time hunting the wild beasts of the forest while cinder spent her days purifying water to drink and sorting herbs that could be eaten from ones that were poisonous. Jaune on the other hand did what he was expected to do - practices his cooking until it was worthy of being eaten - or so cinder had put it.

It was easier said then done, especially when he barely had any spices to begin with. Cinder would accept no excuses so he couldn't worm his way out even if he wanted too. So instead of complaining about it he'd figured he might as well make the most of it. Jaune would use the leftover pieces of meat and vegies that nobody touched to make knew dishes. He did everything that came to mind, starting with stuffing the meat with potatoes, to using some of the wild peppers they found as seasonings. Some worked out well enough while others just flat out failed, but with each new failure there were possibilities to improve upon the recipes. By add thing like resting periods for meat he seasoned to slower cooking times, he grasped some of the do's and don'ts of cooking.

The fact that he spent a great deal of time by the fire helped to he supposed since it allowed him to adjust the strength of the fire he was using. after those three days of continuous cooking and failures, he'd finally done it.

Later that day he started the prep for dinner as soon as vernal returned from her hunt. The brunette dragged a large wild bore behind her and dropped it in front of him. A large grin spread across her face as she looked him up and down "honey I'm home" she teased. Jaune blushed at the insinuation that somehow he became the house husband without his knowledge. "ha ha vermin". the sudden use of the hated nickname cinder came up with caused vernal to scowl at him. "Vernal don't distract jaune while he's doing his womanly duties" cinder said, earning a scowl from jaune and chuckle from vernal. Jaune shook his head "what is this? Girls united"?

Cinder smiled beautifully at him "trust me, if we united there wouldn't be a chance in remnant you'd be able to stop us".

"Is that before or after you two killed each other cause I don't think you guy's can last two minutes without trying to rip each others heads off".

"Wouldn't be much of a fight" vernal quipped. In that one moment jaunes prediction came true. "Your right, dealing with you would be as easy as cleaning my nails" cinder fired back. Vernal pulled the sword from her sheath and leveled it at the raven haired girl "I'd be careful with your jokes princess or did you forget that I'm the one with the sword". Cinder stood from her seat and extended her arms before creating two swords out of glass "you were saying, slut"? The two glared at each other and were ready to make their move when jaune sliced the air between them with his arm. "As nice as it would be to watch you both kill each other I'll say this now, if either of you starts fighting you'll draw the grimm to us and then nobody will get to eat, and I don't think any of use wants a repeat of our first day here".

Both cinder and vernal froze on the spot as they remembered the first night they got here. The negativity they created from their anger towards each other attracted the grimm that were near by which resulted in a sleepless night since they were up all night fighting for their lives. Vernal sheathed her sword just as cinder dispelled her's. With that problem averted, jaune went to work preparing his careful but easy to make stew that he'd perfected over the passed few days.

Seeing his hard work didn't go to waste was the most pleasing thing to come out of this crazy survival camp, well that and the blissful look on cinder and vernals face as they dug into his delicious creation. Now if only he had some bread, then he'd start to make some burgers for sure.

Keep at it jaune! Learning to cook is never easy but just like the old saying goes "if at first you don't succeed, try try again"!
