Vernal leaned back in her seat and tried her best to ignore the butterflies in her stomach. Jaune was helping her figure out what happened to her past, not because it would help him in any kind of way but because it was for her sake that he did. She turned her head to the left slightly and looked out of the corner of her eye to see what the blonde was up to. Jaune was sat next to their master casually chatting about the training they'd done in the past and what he had to look forward to when they returned to the Grimmlands.

The young Arc didn't seem too nervous about the task at hand, in fact he seemed totally at ease for some reason. Alec chuckled at something Jaune said but for the life of her, she couldn't figure out what he just said since she was too busy trying to read Jaunes expression. Alec laid a hand on the blondes head and ruffled his hair, "no need to be embarrassed about wanting to see your girlfriend again. I hear it's important to keep in touch so you don't forget each other".

Vernal's fingers dug into her palm. Girlfriend? Was Jaune really trying to help her out or was it just an excuse for her teammate to mess around with some stupid little girl he'd met before. The more she thought about it the more angry she got.

"Well don't you look positively angry".

Vernal looked to her side and saw Cinder settling herself into the seat next to hers. "What do you want? I'm not in the mood to deal with your bullshit today". Cinder's smug smirk was all it took for Vernal to lose her shit and double kick the raven haired girl off her seat. Sure fighting amongst teammates was terrible but it sure as hell made her feel better. Vernal especially loved the look on Cinder's face when she realized that soon enough the floor and her were going to get very intimate with each other.

*Thud*

"Bitch"! Cinder swore angrily from her spot on the floor.

Vernal grinned at Cinders dismay and turned back to the window choosing to ignore everyone else and focus on what they were going to do in mistral. She didn't really have a clue herself but then again maybe Jaune did. Mistral was the place where her past had been lost, but it was also the place where her new life had begun. A part of her felt happy about getting to learn about her forgotten past while another part grew more and more worried. What if she had a family who loved and missed her? Would she be able to turn her back on the people she had been working with, living with and grew to know like the back of her hand?

Those thoughts were a pain in the but so she imagined how everyone would feel about her departure. Cinder would have just said "good riddance" like a complete bitch and probably washed her hands of the whole thing. Jaune would no doubt be happy for her and would tell her to follow her heart on the subject. "But would he miss me"? She found herself asking.

"I think he would" a new voice answered her question.

Vernal looked to her side and saw Alec sitting in the seat Cinder was once in. "You think he would what"? she asked, pretending as best she could that she didn't know what he was talking about. The edges of Alec's lips pulled up slightly as met Vernal's eyes with a raised brow. All it took was one look and Vernal's face turned a light shade of red. She cursed internally at herself for showing any kind of weakness and looked around to make sure that nobody else was listening in on their conversation.

Cinder was over by Jaune casually listening to what he experienced the last time he was here while adding her own memories of living in mistral to keep the conversation going. Seeing them deep in conversation like that let Vernal sigh in relief. She looked back to her teacher and glared at the old man, "you better not tell anyone what you heard".

Alec chuckled at her words. "Or what? You gonna silence me if I do? Don't kid yourself little girl, and besides what do I get from embarrassing you like that anyways".

Vernal remained quiet so Alec continued. "You were wondering if Jaune would miss you if you left" he asked in a quieter voice. Vernal looked away and nodded, too embarrassed to meet her teachers gaze. The elder man smiled warmly, like a father who had just realized their child wasn't a little baby anymore. "Well...like I said before, I think he would since the three of you have stuck together for so long. Maybe not so much on Cinders side but Jaune...if it's to make you happy I think he'd try his his best to hold back his feelings in consideration for you and your well being".

Alec leaned towards her slightly and whispered, "but I think you'd know that just as well as I do".

The cockpit of the bullhead began to beep signaling their arrival at Haven academy. Vernal watched her teacher rise to his feet and move over to the controls where he could control their descent onto the landing pad. Now that she was alone she thought about her masters words and knew for a fact that they were true. She already knew Jaune inside and out and that brought a smile to her face because she knew he would miss her dearly.

As the three stepped off the airship, Vernal bumped into Jaunes shoulder and stuck her tongue out at him when he looked at her with a confused expression. He really didn't get her sometimes but the smile that bloomed on her face after...well as long as she was happy then it was fine.
