Ch 15 Tonks and the Order

Harry had made it up the stairs and looked at Tonks who was waiting for him. She had a look of anger and it told him his jab had worked. He also knew she could not go against him or she would blow her cover, "You're a little shit you know that" she whispered between her teeth.

Harry just smiled at her and nodded slowly. "I want you to go down and get out of here, I'm not going anywhere". he said loud enough for the people that, were, still downstairs to hear him. Harry walked on and into his room, he did look at her but nothing more.

Tonks watched him walk into his room, and for a short moment, she didn't know what to do. She looked from the still, open door by his room to the stairs leading down. She didn't know, he had it in him, but he had rattled the guys downstairs. She gave a little smirk and walked down slowly step after step. "What do we do now, Mad-Eye?. It is clear he will not go with us willingly".

"She has us their Mad-Eye. I have taught the boy the Petronus but I also know he is a tough nut to crack and will do what he thinks he has to do. So we have to take him with force or we have, to somehow, change his mind." Remus told him as his eyes went up, to the room where he thought Harry would be. "Now I say, let Tonks go back up and let her try to talk to him. As you have heard she is the only one he thinks is here to help him".

Tonks had been standing at the bottom of the stairs looking on. She knew that Mad-Eye had the lead and he was also the one who could make the decisions. He had to think about what Albus would want him to do. "Lass" he started knowing she would be next. "you go get him. See if he wants to come, if not, stun him and bring him down".

Tonks shook her head and started her way back up. The last thing she wanted was to force Harry to come with her. She was finally getting that little bit of trust and it was the last thing she wanted to put on the line. So she walked down the hallway at the top of the stairs. Slowly she walked, to Harry's room. The door was still open and as she walked in, she found him with his wand pointed at her. He didn't need to ask her anything because she, already, knew he had heard it all. She was glad that she had placed her own wand in her pocket. "Harry, I'm not here to take you with force".

He gave her a little smile. "I know because if you were, you would have come here with your wand in your hand. But you have to stun me. If I want to be mad at them I must have a reason". After another little smirk, he looked at her and smiled again. "I DON'T CARE I'M NOT GOING, AND YOU GET THE FUCK OUT".

Tonks heard him scream and she watched him rush off. He went down the stairs two steps at a time. She still had to pull her wand on him as he rushed down the hallway. When he was almost at the bottom Tonks heard Kingsley and Mad-Eys scream STUPEFY. Harry went down and straight with his head against the doorpost. Before he had rushed off he dropped a piece of paper near her feet and she saw it at the last second. Slowly she made her way back to the top of the stairs and looked down. Harry was lying in a weird angle. He had his face pointed at her and away from the others. He blew her a little kiss and she realized he had protected himself with a little shield. How he had done it was another mystery for her but again he played it marvelously, She only hoped he could keep it up until he was at the headquarters of the order. "Remus" Mad-Eye called making sure Remus looked at him. "Me and Kingsley will be taking him to headquarters. We will be making a lot of detours. You and Tonks, will gather all of his stuff and follow us when you are done. Make sure his room is cleared and that there will be nothing that tells them he will be back before the end of the year".

Tonks just stood at the top and saw them disapperate from the spot. She looked at Remus and wondered what she had to do. After it she took a closer look at the paper, Harry had dropped. She opened it slowly and read it in silence.

Everything in the trunk is all I have.
I have nothing else and there is nothing more. The only other stuff I have is under the loose floorboard under the bed. Keep that safe. Before you go take a look under the stairs. If you are really here to help me then this is the way you can earn my trust. Take a look under the stairs and take it to your boss".

Do it alone.

Tonks folded the paper back up and had to find a way to get rid of Remus. She needed to go to Madam Bones, but he was not allowed to know that. Harry just told her this was the way to earn his trust. So she already knew she had it or he would not tell her so. She got the trunk down the stairs and gave it to him. You get this to Harry. I will have one look around and then I have to go home. I need to pick some stuff up so I will be there say, in an hour or so". Remus just nodded and took the trunk as he followed Mad-Eye and Kingsley. When he was gone Tonks went back up the stairs to his room. She took away the loose floorboard and found an Invisibility cloak. It was wrapped around something. When she took it out she saw that it was an old photo album. The first picture she saw was one of Lily and James. She knew why it would be a valuable thing to him. Her first thought was that she would leave it with Amelia for a little while, just to make sure that It was in good hands before she gave it back to him.

She could take the stuff back with her to the order, but she didn't trust them at all. Harry was being looked at from every angle and for him to leave this in her hands, told her he didn't trust it to be safe. So until she could get him to Amelia, he had to do it without his stuff until it was safe for him to have it again.

As she walked down the stairs she wondered why she had to go to the cupboard under the stairs. Why she didn't know but he asked it of her. While she stood there before it she got a weird feeling. Something wasn't right with this cupboard and she hesitated to open it. Still, she had to do it and with a firm pull, she opened the door. What she saw was something she could not have imagined if she hadn't seen it.

Amelia was sitting in the kitchen of Bones Manor. Andromeda Tonks was on the other side of the table. The moment Hedwig had left and after she had been done talking to the girls she got nervous. She knew they would be getting Harry to the Order, but she did not know if Tonks would be with them. So after an hour, she called for Andromeda to come to her in the hope they heard something.

Suddenly the Floo erupted and there was a lot of noise coming from the hallway. When it was quiet Amelia called out. "Tonks we are in the kitchen". Tonks came stumbling in and it was clear that she wasn't feeling well. Andromeda tapped the spot next to her as Amelia filled up a glass of fire whiskey.

Tonks didn't say a thing and only placed the invisibility cloak and the Photo album on the table. As Amelia took the cloak, Andromeda took the album. Amelia knew that James had one of those things and also that he had used it as an Auror. While the fabric went through her hands she could hardly believe that this was the same cloak. "How did Harry get this" She asked Tonks as she saw her hand disappear.

Tonks looked at the pictures when she heard the question. "According to Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley, Harry got that in his first year with a note. The note said it belonged to your father, use it well. Why do you ask".

"Well, I knew James Potter had one. If this is the same one then it is over a thousand years old. According to him, it belonged to one of the Peverell brothers. Now the story of them and death was something he didn't know about. Well, he knew the story but not if it was true or not. But according to the Note it was given to him. James never went without the cloak and he never shared it with anyone. So someone must have taken it after they died. The question is who". As one they all said Albus and it was something that gave them a strange feeling of uneasiness.

Tonks was still looking at the pictures as Andromeda flipped page after page. "Stop," Tonks said as she looked at one picture. She took the album in her hand and took a closer look. "This is the same picture Albus showed me when I first came to him. It is the one from the Order and it" Tonks stopped and placed her hand over her lips. "This is from the order in your time. It shows Sirius, Remus, and all the other friends his parents had".

"It also tells him a lot if he looks at it like we do," Amelia told her. Tonks looked at her not understanding what she was saying. "Well, look at it this way. In this album, he sees all the people who knew about him from birth. If he is with the order he will see all of them again and it will tell him one thing".

The mouth of Tonks turned into an O. "He will hate them all when he sees them". She took a closer look at the picture and saw her mother with her boss, "Don't you think it will be the same with you two".

"Yes, and No," Andromeda told her. We will not be there and it will tell him we didn't join again. It will also be something he will hint at, just to see if we are still a part of it. It will not give him enough to trust us but it will give us room to be heard. So it will be up to us to urn his trust just like you are doing. I think Susan will be a key to Amelia and you to me. But don't ask him or tell him, let him get to it on his own, so don't push, whatever you need to do, you do, but do not push".

Tonks nodded and flipped on. it was then she got across the picture of him and Neville in the arms of their fathers. "That is why he is making friends with Neville. He knows about him and I think Neville has helped him".

"Neville and him are friends," Amelia asked her. Susan only told me he started the friendship last year". Tonks nodded slowly but stopped mid-nod because she wasn't sure. She did see the look Amelia gave Andromeda, "Do you think the battle axe is already working with him".

"If Harry is anything like my aunt Dorea Potter. Then she has already whipped him in shape, or he is halfway there" Andromeda said as the both of them looked at Tonks. "What else did you see?

"That is something I don't understand, he gave me this note to look in the cupboard under the stairs. In it there was this box with take me, open me on top of it".

"What box," Amelia asked her.

"Tonks frowned and pointed at the table, "That box, right there".

"Tonks, there is no box there. Wait a second, you said this note, do you still have it". Tonks nodded at her boss and handed her the note. She saw how she read it and after it, she started to shake her head. A big smile formed on her face and she handed the note to Andromeda.

Andromeda read the note and when Tonks saw the same smile appear on her mother's face. It was the same smile she had seen on the face of her boss, so she had to ask. "Tonks, he played you a little. The note you got was a secret to a Fidelius charm. The box you have here was under that charm".

"NO, how does he know it, how can he perform it" Tonks asked in shock as she opened the box. In it was a little list of things to do. As she read it she saw it were things she had to do for him. or they had to do for him. "Listen to this"

1 Find out the status of a person to get a ring.
2 Find more money to invest in the house.
3 List of houses to live in and a nice name for it.
4 Record criminal to be SERIOUS about doing good.

"I don't get it," Amelia said when she got up and looked over her shoulder.

"I do, Andromeda told her. It is also telling me Augusta has written to him. This list are things he needs to save himself. He did it before the attacks of the Dementors. If you read it like a teenage boy you might see this.
1 He is looking if a girl is ready for a ring.
2 find a house to be together with the girl.
3 A list of places where to live and the last is,
4 To see if there is nothing that stands in the way".

Amelia smirked and Tonks still didn't get it, Andromeda smiled at her and went on. If Augusta has spoken to him he needs a couple of things before she can help him, or he can help himself.
1 Find out about himself and the Lordsring of the Potters.
2 The money from House Potter, might not be much but he has more than he knows.
3 His house because he wants to know where his dad lived and where they were killed. Or in his case the House of Potter.
4 What does the file of Sirius say about him?

Tonks looked at her and slowly a light went off in her head. "I do not think he has been in contact with Augusta, at least not directly. If what Susan said was right, then Neville and he started a slow friendship. I think it was a lot deeper than anybody knows. Now he is in the belly of the beast and I think I have to go there, But what do I do".

All three of them thought for a while. After a couple of minutes, it was Amelia who came with an answer. "You have to go to the order and see to him. If I'm right he will trust you. You said he told you were the only one, who he thought he could trust. I think he meant it but said it that way for the others. He is leading them on, why I do not know. It is something you have to find out. It is still two weeks until his hearing. We have time to get his trust and to help him where we can. I will go to the Goblins and to the ministry. I will make sure you get the papers he needs. You can also get the papers to him when I have them, it will show him I am on his side. Just like your mother would do".

"So I go there and I help him where he needs me," Tonks asked.

"Yes, you also have to learn what other things the order is up to. They are snooping around the ministry and I do not know why. I have also seen Kingsley take out the real case file of Sirius. Now Albus is either making a fake one or he is trying to lose it. I will make sure it is found out what they did".

Tonks got to her feet and said goodbye.

Mad-Eye was popping from place to place. He was creating a diversion. Lose the enemy and keep yourself hidden he said. When Harry got to the first stop he kept himself as stiff as a board. The last one he trusted was Mad-Eye. When Remus popped up next to them he kept his eyes pointed down. He did not know what they were up to, but for now, he would go with it. Something was making Mad-Eye stall, he didn't know what but something, or someone did. He also knew that Kingsley was not with them anymore.

Sirius was looking on as all of them had left the house. When he stood the door opened and Albus stepped back in. "Sirius, we need to talk," Albus told him while he was followed into the kitchen by Severus and Molly. After the three had walked in they were followed by Minerva and Flitwick.

Sirius sat back down and looked at the muscles that walked behind him. He wasn't impressed but he knew he had to play along. Albus wanted something and he was afraid he wouldn't like it. As he looked at how they sat down he wondered if he should give them a drink or not. NO, Molly knew where it was so she could do it if they wanted to. Molly didn't and it told Sirius they meant business. He looked at the muscle and saw Minerva and Flitwick walk to the other side. So they were not here to help Albus. "Sirius" and there we go.

"Sirius" Albus started again, "We have to do something before Harry gets here. I have to make sure that he is being left alone. He needs to rest after everything he has been through. Ronald and Hermione know they can't talk to him about Voldemort and also that they have to keep his mind off the upcoming hearing. Molly will take them around the house to clean everything so that will also help him".

"Stop it, Albus," Sirius said as he lifted his hand. "I'm not going to keep my Godson out of it. I'm".

"See Albus, I told you the Pemperd Prins gets everything" Severus started.

"You listen here Snivelus. I can't do anything about you when you are at Hogwarts, but if I see or hear you doing something against my Godson when he is here, I".

"STOP. both of you" Albus screamed. He knew that if Severus went on He would be thrown out. It was the last thing he wanted. The house of Sirius was the ideal place to keep people like Mundungust. He had seen him steal a couple of spoons and he didn't want him stealing from Hogwarts. In Merlin's name, he wanted none of them at Hogwarts. Every time he heard Molly scream he wanted to kill her. So he needed this place to keep himself sane. This time Albus looked right at Sirius. "Harry has been through a lot. He now needs his friends and not the burden of the upcoming hearing".

Sirius saw Albus looking at him and had to swallow his response. According to Albus, he was still under the potion so the only thing he could do was nod. "You are right Albus, you are absolutely right". Albus smiled and gave a quick look at Molly and Severus. Both of them were smiling but they didn't see that Sirius saw it too. Just as Albus was about to say something else Kingsley walked into the room. Sirius looked up but he didn't see Mad-Eye, Remus, or Tonks. So if they weren't here then Harry would not be here either. He wondered if Albus had placed him somewhere else after all.

"Albus, we hid a little bit of a problem". Albus didn't react but he motioned for him to go on. "Harry didn't want to come at first. He told us that if we protected him we should have done a better job because we weren't there when the Dementors attacked him".

Sirius gave a little smirk when he saw that Albus was slowly turning white. "how did you get him to come here, Or isn't he coming here". The sound of the voice from Albus was turning into one of panic. It was a memory he wanted to have for a long time. His godson pulled a fast one on Albus and he liked it.

"At first he sent us away. We didn't know what to do. Tonks had already walked upstairs to help him but he sent her down as well. From the top of the stairs, he shouted that he didn't trust us and the only one he trusted was Tonks. According to Harry, she was the only one who tried to help him, and that was because she went up to help him pack".

"So, Harry only trusted her because she tried to help him and we didn't". Albus asked him.

Sirius heard the question but also the things he didn't ask. It was clear that Albus didn't want a closer relationship between his Godson and Tonks. So he waited for the thing Kingsley had to say and wondered if he had to jump in.

"I do not think he trusts her that much, none of us to be honest. The only one he trusts a little will be Remus. Tonks he just said to make his point clear. I think he did it because she wanted to help him and Mad-Eye ordered him to come along. I think he hates it when we tell him what to do".

Albus knew that Harry had a mind of his own. It was the one thing he tried to manipulate. His potions didn't work and the added doze didn't do the trick either. He did not know why Harry had this tolerance to the potions but it happened after his second year. Somehow he became stronger and the potions didn't work anymore. So for Kingsley telling him Harry didn't want to fall in line was not a real surprise. "So how did you get him to come along".

"We didn't, when Tonks went back up he shouted something and came rushing down the stairs with his wand in his hand so we had to stun him. Mad-Eye is taking him around the country before he gets him here". Albus nodded and Sirius had to do everything to keep himself from jumping up and to scream at all of them. "Mad-Eye told Remus and Tonks to gather his things while he and I made the first couple of jumps. When we landed for our first jump he told me to go on while he waited for Remus and Tonks. I do not know why but I do not think Harry was put down all that well. He didn't fall down, as stiff as any other would do. It was like he shielded himself in some way but we know he didn't because we didn't see a shield. Now we only hope he will not be too mad when he gets here".

It was at that time everybody heard the Umbrella stand fall down in the hallway and knew that Tonks had arrived".

Tonks grumbled as she again stumbled over the umbrella stand. She placed it back and walked on to the kitchen. In the hallway, she looked at the clock and saw she had been away for an hour. So Harry would already be here and she had to explain why she was late. As she went over every tale she could make up to explain her late arrival she stopped when she was in the doorway. The order was not all there but Kingsley was. She didn't see Mad-Eye or Remus. It explained why she didn't see Harry but not why they weren't there yet. "Tonks why are you here and where are Remus and Mad-EYe" Albus asked her.

Tonks heard the question and realized he didn't ask for Harry. Harry was the main reason why they went there, so for him to not ask about him was troublesome. It gave her a lot of red flags and knew there was more than they knew at the moment. It did give her a simple way to tell them why she was there alone. "Well, Mad-Eye told Remus and me to gather his stuff. When we did Remus took his trunk and went after them while I did another sweep of the house and locked all the doors. Then I went after them and I might have skipped an address to Apparate to and just missed them". It was a simple explanation and an easy lei to keep up for the time being.

To her relief she didn't need to explain further because it was at that time Remus stumbled into the house and was followed by Mad-Eye with a floating Harry in front of him. Remus looked like he had gone through a blender and Mad-Eye wasn't far from it. Harry was not in good shape either but he looked better than the other two. "What happened to you two" Sirius asked as he again did everything not to shout, or to rush over to Remus, to see if his man was all right. Remus just gave him a little smile and sat down.

Albus wanted to know the same thing and looked at Mad-Eye. To see MadEye slump into a chair was something new. Tonks had a smirk on her face. Something was telling her they encountered something they never expected to have faced. Mad-Eye just shook his head as he looked at Albus. Harry was now on the ground but not yet relieved from his petrification. Tonks stood and pulled her wand as she went over to him. The moment she wanted to cancel the Spell Mad-Eye interrupted her before she could do anything. "Don't lass, he is not to be trusted, when we got to the third hideout he apparated away, and we followed him to a place I do not know where. But when we got there he opened fire and it took us an hour to bring him down".

Tonks looked from Harry back to the both of them, "It took you two a whole hour to bring him down. Was he that advanced in his spell work? Or were you two too slow to take down a kid" This time she smirked at them both.

Remus shook his head sadly, "When we got to the third stop he jumped up, he was never stunned in the first place. He threw a bonbard at the ground and shouted Voldemort, you won't take me alive. It was then that he apparated away, and we followed him, by following his magical signature". Albus shook his head sadly, and it was seen by Tonks. There was another thing he heard and she had to place it somewhere in the story. "When we got there it was near a cave, On a mountain and I thought I saw Hogsmead in the distance". As Remus talked she looked at the others. This time it was Sirius who got a smile on his face. He knew the place Remus was talking about so there was another story there. "Well, we got there and he started to fire at us again. Nothing much just, stunners, Bombardes not that powerful, and Expiliarmus mostly. Here and there a Flipendo or a Difendo. He does have a good shield on him. He was so fast that it was obvious to us that he had been training somewhere. We returned the spell and told him he could trust us. But he did not believe us. We could use pollyjuice potion and were just pretending. So we just had to fight him and when we got the chance we brought him down".

Tonks shook her head and just looked at the two of them. "You know, he is smarter than any of us. He was right, not to trust us. What did we do to tell him we were the people we said we were? We got there and told him to get ready and to come along".

"Albus told him we would get the Muggles away. After that we would get him," Kingsley told her.

As one everyone looked at Albus. Albus looked down and shook his head slowly. "YOU DIDN'T". Tonks almost jumped a foot in the air when she heard the Voice of Minerva from the other side of the kitchen. How she had missed her sitting there she didn't know neither had she seen Flitwick sitting next to her. "Albus, no wonder that the boy doesn't trust us. You just let him deal with everything on his own, now that he needs us you left him alone again. I told you on the night we left him there that they were the worst muggles there ever were. I told you he suspected Severus was the one with the stone of Flamel. I also told you he went after it when you were gone" Minerva took a deep breath as hadn't done it from the moment she started.

And off she went again "When they found out it was a basilisk you didn't tell us you already knew about it because you had been there the first time it happened. In his third year, I told you to tell him that Sirius was his godfather. You didn't and he had to find it out on his own. He did and set him free because you wanted him to be caught".

Severus looked at the ground but he still sneered at Sirius. "Don't you give him that look Severus" Minerva snapped. "You did everything to get Sirius kissed, all because you had some anger from what he and James did when they were kids. You have been taking it out on the boy from the moment he walked into Hogwarts. When Fudge told you, you would get the order of Merlin you only saw stars. When Harry freed his godfather you did everything to hurt the boy even more. And don't get me started about last year. You knew what Draco was up to, but still, you didn't do anything to help the boy. I know I told Albus about it but my words were on deaf ears. Just like after the last battle, he needed help mentally and you never gave him any. You just told everyone to leave him alone. Now when you needed to tell him you didn't. No, wonder he didn't trust any of us".

Tonks looked on as Minerva went all Scottish badass on Albus. When she was done she got to her feet and released Harry from the spell. Harry jumped up and looked for his wand. He didn't have it but Tonks could clearly see a spell form in his hand. When her eye crossed with his it was gone. "Mr Potter calm down, you are with friends," Minerva told him.
