Author's Note:

Hi~!

Not my first story here in the fanfic community but let's say… this is my comeback story. I've been on hiatus for a couple of years due to "life" but now, I'm coming back! So many stories that I'd like to share with everyone and I hope that I'm able to keep up. Fantasy genre may not be the ideal comeback story but hey, I'd like to give it a shot.

Will be rating this as a "T" due to cursing and sexual innuendos.

Hope you guys enjoy this one!

Timeline: Set after the Grand Magic Games

Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail or its characters. I'm just here to give some entertainment and hopefully satiate the Laxus X Lucy shippers out there.

Chapter 1 - The Celestial Surge

"Master, I think that's not necessary…"

Mirajane Strauss, the barmaid and sweetheart of Fairy Tail, sweatdropped at the drunken antics of their Fairy Tail master, Makarov Dreyar.

"Oh-ho~? Whaddaya mean, Mira~?" He slurred, taking a long swig of his beer with one hand while his oversized right palm gave a random girl's backside a crude smack. "This is definitely necessary!" He laughed, hopping off his barstool with a grin as he scanned the guild for another target. "No holding back!" He declared.

The silver-haired barmaid just chuckled and continued on with her duties. While she may not completely approve of their master's perverse way of celebrating Fairy Tail's win in the Grand Magic Games, they all did deserve to celebrate. The adversities that all the members went through from their 7-year absence up to the grueling and almost hellish battles that happened during the GMG - yeah, they definitely deserved this 2-week long celebration.

While the Fairy Tail guild has its ongoing exuberant and rowdy celebration with its members singing praises, it's quite the opposite in a different area in Magnolia.

In a red-bricked apartment sitting near a bricked canal, a honey-brown eyed vixen stares at her calendar in excitement.

'I hope it happens soon!'

Lucy Heartfilia, Fairy Tail's one and only Celestial Mage owning 10 of the rare Zodiac keys and infamous for her deathly move called the 'Lucy Kick!', has decided to sit out on the celebration for today and in the next coming days. Don't make the mistake of thinking that she has never joined in on the winning celebration - oh, she did alright.

4 days - 4 days! - of hazy memories because she was absolutely sloshed. She had no recollection of ever walking back home to her apartment. Nope. She had an inkling that maybe one of her spirits, Loke or Virgo, could have taken her to the safety of her own home while she was blitzed as fuck. Still, she's grateful to be able to come back home with the help of her friends and spirits.

"But Luuuuccyyyy…" her one and only Fire Dragon Slayer partner, Natsu Dragneel, whined like a child. "You're missing out on the fun!"

'Ah, he's still here…' she deadpanned.

"Aye!" Happy, a blue exceed and Natsu's forever partner-in-crime, agreed with his salmon-haired friend. "We're now the number 1 guild in Fiore! We should celebrate!"

Lucy sighed. She really appreciates Natsu for always making her feel included in everything. 'Even if it gets me, or the entire team in trouble…' But she just wants to sit out on late-night parties in the next coming days. She does not want to miss anything.

"Natsuuuu," Lucy sat on her bed with a slight bounce. "I'll be in the guild every single day. I'm not missing out on anything! I'm just opting out of the late night parties, that's all." She was resolute on this one.

Natsu sighed and slumped over. He can sense that his partner won't budge. He has no idea what's so special about some 'shower' - doesn't she do that every single day already? - but if it's that important to her, he'll respect that. "Promise you'll be there tomorrow?"

Lucy chuckled. "Promise!"

Natsu jumped on her window and took one good squinted look at his blonde partner. "I better see you!"

"Natsu," Lucy rolled her pretty eyes and smirked. "My words are binding. I'm a Celestial Mage, remember?"

He grinned at that. That's his partner. "See ya!" And with that, he jumped off from the window sill with Happy not too far behind.

Lucy sighed contently… and shivered. An eyebrow ticked.

"OI! Don't just leave my window open, Natsu!"

She was so sure that the guild hall would be a mess.

"Good morning, everyone!" Lucy chirped.

As expected, she was greeted with drunken snores and tangled limbs from last night's fiasco instead of the usual chatter and laughter.

"Good morning, Lucy!" The blonde-haired mage smiled at that. If it wasn't her chaotic team, then it was always Mirajane who'd always return the greeting. She was such a breath of fresh air.

Lucy found herself weaving carefully through the limbs, making sure not to step on any. As soon as she sat on her usual barstool, she was met with her favorite drink - a strawberry smoothie. "Thank you, Mira!"

Mira giggled at the cuteness of their Celestial Mage. "You're welcome, Lucy. I didn't see you last night." She commented while continuing to wipe down utensils.

Lucy took a huge sip of her refreshing smoothie. 'This is soooo refreshing!' "Ah, Loke told me that a meteor shower is happening in the next couple of days. I wanted to make sure that I don't miss out."

"Something special about the meteor shower?"

"For us Celestial Mages, it's like a gift." She sipped on her smoothie slowly, stirring her straw absent-mindedly. "We draw our magic from the Celestial Spirit realm - the realm that connects to the rest of the realms, the realm that holds the stars that we see in the sky. For a day or two, we are granted infinite magic."

Mira gasped at this new information that she's taking in. "Is that true?"

Lucy shrugged. "I've been meaning to ask Grandpa Crux but," A sheepish smile peeked through. "I keep forgetting, I guess."

A flash of golden light pulled the ladies out of their conversation.

"Your magic will be so strong that it aligns with nearly every element in existence, Princess."

It was one of Lucy's spirits - Leo the Lion, the leader and the strongest of all the Zodiac spirits. "It's been a while, Loke!" Mira greeted warmly.

"Ah Mira-san," Loke took one of Mira's dainty hands and lightly kissed her wrist. "Always the ray of sunshine in this neanderthal habitat~."

Mira's stark-blue eyes danced with mirth. "Loke, you don't want to be disowned by Lucy, don't you?" Always the charmer, this lion.

Without skipping a beat, he slid onto the barstool next to his beautiful owner, gently brushing his fingers against Lucy's porcelain and rosy cheeks. "My love will always be with you, Lucy." He whispered softly.

Lucy looked at her spirit with dispassion. "You're just a massive playboy, aren't you…"

With an exaggerated flourish, the Lion spirit dropped to his knees, clutching his chest with a pained expression. "You wound me, my love~!" He lamented, as if the heartbreak was too much to bear.

Lucy rolled her eyes at Loke and continued sipping on her ice-cold smoothie. Just when she was about to relax, she heard the door to the guild hall slam open. She sighed internally. 'Fat chance, Lucy…'

"OI!"

Natsu greeted the guild with his usual door-slamming kick with his entire body lit in flames. "Where's that ice-prick?!"

"Oi Natsu! Pipe it down! Tch."

That deep voice startled her and pulled her away from her thoughts. She turned to see Laxus Dreyar sitting right beside her. Lucy took in his appearance - he seemed relaxed, though the faint crackle of static energy still surrounded him like it always did.

"Something on my face, Blondie?"

Lucy felt her entire face heat up, looked away, and suddenly found her strawberry smoothie so interesting. "No-nothing!" she stammered. "And hey, you're blonde too!" she couldn't resist that either.

A smirk tugged on the guild's resident lightning mage. "Take a picture, why don't you?" he quipped, his gruff voice carrying a slight playful edge. With a flourish of his fur-lined coat, he lifted his mug of frothy beer and made his way back to his table with the Raijinshuu.

"Oi, oi, Laxus…" Bickslow called out to their leader, his tongue sticking out and his baby totems flying about. "What'd you do to Cosplayer?"

"Cosplayer!" his totems echoed.

Laxus sat down with a quiet grunt. "Nothing."

Over the rim of his tilted mug, Laxus studied the Celestial Mage from across the guild. She had come a long way, growing stronger with each battle. If it hadn't been for Raven Tail's dirty tricks and their Negation Magic, Lucy would have won that fight. The memory still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth… until his mind wandered to the beating he'd given Flare afterward. A smirk crept onto his face. 'Serves that bitch right…'

"Laxus! FIGHT ME!"

He sighed and stared at the Fire Dragon Slayer with disinterest. 'Always like this with this kid…' "I thought you had something to pick with Gray?"

Natsu grinned, cracking his knuckles as he prepared to lunge at Laxus. "Ice Brain ain't around yet, so I might as well get a warm-up in!"

Laxus slammed his mug down. "Come."

Fire sparking around his fists, he dashed towards Laxus, determined to land the first hit.

Laxus barely moved. With a casual smirk, he lets Natsu get just close enough before raising his arm.

THWACK!

In an instant, a blast of lightning surged from Laxus' fist, meeting Natsu's face head-on. The impact sent Natsu flying backward, his body spiraling uncontrollably through the air like a ragdoll.

"WAAAAHHHHH!" Natsu yelled as he went sailing across the guild.

Lucy glanced up just in time to see a blur of red and pink rocketing towards her. Her eyes widened, bracing for impact.

But just as Natsu was about to slam into her, a sudden flash of lightning illuminated the room, and Laxus appeared out of nowhere. In a split second, he caught Natsu mid-flight and slammed him to the side.

Natsu flew off-course, crashing into the far wall instead of Lucy.

'Didn't mean to do that…' He cast a glance at Lucy who was frozen in place, eyes wide with shock, and her chest rising and falling rapidly with the rush of adrenaline.

Lucy blinked, her heart still racing from the near-miss. She glanced at Laxus, another bout of heat rushing up to her face. "Thank you, Laxus…"

He straightened, dusted off his coat casually, and called out Mira to ask for another round of his beer.

From across the room, the Raijinshuu - Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow - watched the scene unfold with a mixture of surprise and confusion.

Bickslow's floating dolls spun around his head, chanting "Lucy! Lucy!" as he snickered. "Never thought I'd see the day!"

Evergreen blinked, adjusting her glasses as she stared at the aftermath and still trying to process what had happened. "Are we seeing things…" she mumbled.

Freed, always the more reserved, narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "That was fast. Way too fast…"

Laxus, overhearing the conversation from the bar, shot a sharp glance in their direction, his eyes flashing with a hint of electricity. "What're you three staring at?" The underlying warning was clear. As soon as he got his mug, he pushed off from the bar and began making his way back toward their table.

Bickslow raised his hands in mock surrender. "Whoa, Boss, didn't mean anything by it."

Evergreen smirked, her curiosity piqued. "Is there something we don't know, Laxus?"

The lightning mage rolled his eyes, taking a sip from his new mug. "She was in the way. That's all."

Despite his nonchalant words, Freed couldn't help but exchange a knowing look with the rest of the Raijinshuu.

Natsu, at this point, who has completely pulled himself out from the rubble, shouted for another re-match.

The Raijinshuu continued to watch their leader with curiosity, unsure if they had just witnessed a rare moment of Laxus letting his guard down - or if something was beginning to shift in the way he viewed the bubbly blonde Celestial Mage.

Author's Ending Note:

This has been so much fun to make! This one chapter took a while to make because of how rusty my vocabulary is but I've enjoyed the entire process, nonetheless.

I must say, a few fanfics and fantasy books really fuel the imagination.

Hope you guys enjoy this one!
