What Happens in Vegas
Chapter 8: It's Vegas Baby
Jack drew lazy circles on Samantha's bare skin while watching her sleep. She was half on top of Jack with the covers just over her thighs. Thoughts of the two of them dancing the night away filled his mind. He smiled comparing their time on the dance floor to an old black and white movie.
Rays of sunshine filtered through shining on their discarded clothing from last night. Returning his attention back to Samantha Jack absentmindedly played with her blonde hair taking in the moment. The feel of Samantha's skin, soft and perfect, made him feel blessed with her love. Why, he would never understand but not question. The love they made last night was rushed at first. Hopefully the walls were well insulated because an intoxicated Samantha wasn't all that quite. Nor did she hold back. Not that he was going to complain. Jack didn't hold back either, he just let her have control. Samantha fell asleep after round 3 satisfied and happy. The woman that he held is truly an amazing lady, one that he would never let go of.
Samantha started to awaken moving around a bit. He watched her nose twitch then baby blue eyes open slowly. "Can you turn the lights off, my head hurts." she said closing her eyes burying her face in Jacks chest. "That's sunshine Carter, its 0749hrs." He replied laughing at her. "Ugh, I haven't drunk that much since my Academy Graduation party with my friends." Samantha added given him some insight to her past. "The only thing I remember is you carrying me to bed after I removed my dress." Jack smiled at the memory. "Your removed your dress all right. Then you insisted on taking off my suite yourself. Hence the reason our clothing is laying on the floor." He answered with a big smile. Samantha blushed deep red trying to remember what happened. "You don't remember..." Jack asked rolling her under him brushing long blonde hair away from Samantha's face. She enjoyed the weight of Jack on top of her and looking into his brown eyes. "Do you want to know what happened besides the obvious?" He asked wagging his eyes causing Sam to giggle. "Yes I do so we can do it again and remember." Her eyes sparked pulling Jack down for a kiss. Stopping for air they kissed again much deeper this time.
Rolling over so they were side by side Jack brushed her hair to the away again. "We went to one of the bars after dancing. Had a few more drinks apiece." He said seeing if she remembered anything before continuing. "What did I have to drink Jack? Beer and wine don't give me headaches or hangovers." Samantha replied playing with his unruly hair. "I ordered a Crown Royal straight. You wanted to try it and..." he said testing her memory again. "Ugh, I should've known better. Just about every time I drink whiskey my clothes come off." Samantha answered memories of past experiences coming to mind. "I noticed that. You also take control in bed too, not that I was complaining. The view was perfect." She slapped Jack in the shoulder while smiling. "Of course the view is perfect, would you expect anything less than perfect?" Samantha said with a wide grin enjoying the morning banter. "Not at all, the view is still perfect." He replied pulling her close. Samantha sighed enjoying being held by Jack, strong loving arms that would always be there. "Do want to stay in bed for a little longer or go out and terrorize the locals on our motorcycles?" Jack asked resuming drawing circles in her back. "Let's go terrorize the locals. Tonight I'll take control but be sober." Jack readily agreed with her. However she didn't complain as he carried her to the shower. God she loved this man and all his energy in the bedroom.
A Couple hours later they left on their motorcycles with no particular plan other than ride. The first stop catching their attention was the Mob Museum (A/N1) on Stewart Avenue. They purchased the premier pass for $54.95 apiece. Jack had plenty of money so might as well spend it. Upon entering the museum the two of them decided to eat at the 'Speak Easy' (A/N2) first. Jack and Sam stood like a sore thumb out in their biker gear. The other customers were dressed casual and wait staff in period correct customs. "Daniel would love this place Jack. We'd be here all day and night." Samantha said being seated at a booth against the wall. "He'd be giving us a detailed lecture to. Although this would be a lecture I'd pay attention too." He replied taking in the surroundings. "The only reason I can think of for you listening is if a relative was part of the mob." Samantha answered after placing their orders. "My uncle Timmy was an enforcer for Chicago branch." Jack informed her eyes going wide. "Really, I'd never thought that. Was his nickname Little Timmy?" She said jokingly with huge smile. "Actually you're right. Mob names are too predictable. He tried to recruit me but my grandfather read him the riot act. Didn't hear or see him ever again." Jack replied grinning. She didn't expect to hear that judging from her expression. "You're kidding right...you could've been called Jack of Spades." Samantha said with bigger smile. "That's a good one. I believe you would've made a great Mob Queen or even a dancer with those long legs of yours." He said narrowly avoiding a kick in the shin. The waiter brought their food at that moment. Samantha rolled her eyes at his comment, he wasn't wrong though. Her mother had intentions of enrolling Sam in a dance class before passing.
"...Where to now Carter? The Mob Museum was well worth the money. I particularly liked the claw handcuffs. They'd come in handy with one armed men." She giggled once more. The whole guided tour he made little comments here and there annoying the guide. "Mine was the scavenger hunt and crime lab. They were too easy though." Jack got on his motorcycle giving her a funny look. "How would you like to visit a snake museum?" He asked getting a perplexed look from Sam. "Snake museum, you hate SNAKEs, so much so that you carry a shot gun on missions." Samantha replied wondering what he was up to. "These snakes don't bite..." He said then pulled out into traffic leading the way with curious Cater following him.
Entering the Shelby Museum parking lot Sam could hardly contain herself! Jack must have done some recon work without her knowing. "Holly Hanna Jack, I've always admired Coral Shelby." His eyes focused on Samantha grinning like a fool. "...Only the best for you my dear Carter." Walking up to him she looped her arm inside his. "You have a unique way of romancing a lady Jack." Samantha said with a huge grin. "You are a unique lady deserving of my special brand of romancing." They walked into the museum arm in arm excited to see all the cool cars they could never afford to own. "Do you think the museum allow me to test drive one of their newer cars Jack?" Sam asked with hopeful eyes. "Not unless you plan on buying one." Jack replied with a playful smile. Samantha sighs rolling her eyes. "One can dream can't they?" she said walking into the building.
"Did you know Ken Miles and Peter Brock (A/N4) developed the Shelby Daytona Coup?" She asked walking up to the vehicle admiring its beauty. "Yes, I did. Do you know the first year they finished second to Ferrari in the International Championship for GT Manufacturers? The next year they won by 19 points over Ferrari." He replied one upping her. Two can play this game she thought. The two of them traded facts and figures trying to see who knew the most. Finally it came down to the Ford GT40 and its 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 hours of Lemans. "Ken Mile won that race ahead of the other two GT40s. His lap time was 3:38 seconds. The Ford big wigs wanted Ken to do a 4 minute lap to allow for a closer finish. "Samantha added confidant she had stumped Jack. "Okay Sam, what controversy came out of that victory?" He asked seeing her mind go to work. Not wanting to admit defeat she tried to remember any problems with the victory. Sam knew there was one because of Ferrari feud with Ford. "Times up Carter, your guess is?" Jack asked as they stood in front of the most beautiful sports car ever made. "Ferrari complained that Miles bated their driver into blowing the engine?" Jack looked at her nodding no. "The controversy was that the rules favored cars that were further back in the event of a dead heat. Therefore there could be no dead heat between the other two vehicles." He explained remembering the news paper articles well. "Ferrari complaining was just that, complaining because he got bested by a common man's car company." Samantha thought it over for a minute. Her father had said the same thing. No wonder the two of them got along well.
Before Samantha could ask about their next destination her phone rang. Fishing it out of her leather pocket she looked at the screen seeing it was a Colorado Springs number. "Is that your brother calling again?" Jack asked noticing her confused look. "No, it's not Mark. The Colorado Police Department is calling. Do you suppose something happed back home?" she asked with a concerned look. Both Jack and she were emergency contacts for Cassandra if Janet couldn't be reached. "Let's hope not, were too far to do anything." He answered a little concerned.
"Hello, Major Carter speaking." She answered in a calm and professional manner. Jack sat on his Harley patiently waiting for the reason for the call. "This is Detective Pete Shanahan; we were supposed to meet for coffee a few days ago. I was just wondering if we still could go after you get back from Vegas." Pete asked in an easy going tone. Sam was completely caught off guard. She didn't know how to react or what to say. Jack asked who it was seeing Samantha eyes begin to build with anger. "How did you get my cell phone number Shanahan? I distinctly remember not giving it to you." She asked none too happy. "I'm a detective baby, besides it's in your record for a contact. You do love to go fast, 100mph on the interstate, fast lady that's hard to catch. I like that." This pissed Samantha off to no ends. Overhearing what the shrub said Jack grabbed the phone from her.
"Detective Shanahan, what do you think you're doing calling my soon to be wife? I prefer a happy bride not a mad one!" Jack said with anger and a bit of humor. This caught both Pete and Samantha off guard per his plan. Samantha mouthed wife with wide eyes never expecting such a bold move on Jacks part. Pete however didn't know how to respond. There was dead silence on the other end causing Jack to smile. "Who the hell are you mister? Also Mark didn't mention anything about a fiancée." Pete replied not wanting to believe it. "My name is Colonel Jack O'Neill, 2 LLs." He responded then continued. "Well if Mark would talk to Samantha more he'd known. We're 4th in line to get married by a little grey Roswell alien." She quickly realized Jack was defusing the situation while having fun. "Aren't you her commanding officer?" he asked remembering what Mark had told him. "...what about it Shanahan?" Jack asked knowing the question on the shrubs mind. He smiled at Sam currently trying to hold in her laughter. "You can't marry her...she's in your chain of command. It's against regulation, I know that much." Pete replied in a confident yet angry voice. Jack winked at Samantha then answered. "Show's what you know detective. I ordered Samantha to marry me. Being her commanding officer she has to obey my orders." He added then hung up with a huge smile. Pete looked at the phone almost wanting to throw it but refrained from it as he were in the office.
Samantha was on the ground laughing hysterically holding her sides. "You ordered me to marry you because I have to obey your orders." she said between laughs. "Thor's going to marry us too. Oh that's too rich Jack." Samantha added still laughing and smiling. "Well, I'm sure Thor would love to see us married." Helping Sam up she hugged him tightly while regaining control. "Are you serious about us getting married? Not now of course but one day." She asked with hopeful eyes. "I'm dead serious Samantha. When time comes you'll know and I'll never let you down." Jack kissed her softly enjoying the closeness. "You do realize Mark will be calling demanding answers." Samantha said with her head buried in his shoulder. "I can't wait for his call, going to be as much fun if not more." He replied. "Go easy on him Jack, Mark is going to your future brother in law." She told him with a full heart. "Yes ma'am you betcha."
"So where to next Samantha?" he asked as they mounted their motorcycles. "I saw a place called 'Pawn Stars' (A/N5) while riding around. Maybe we can find some unique gifts there for our friends." Samantha suggested. "Sounds like a good idea. There might be some old rocks or fake Egyptian relics I can bug Space Monkey with." Sam laughed at idea as they pulled out into traffic to their next destination.
