"Go away."
Marcus sighed and knocked again on the door to Chastity's cabin, louder this time.
"Gods, I'm busy!" Came Chastity's voice again from the inside of the Cabin.
"No you're not, I just saw Phillip down by the campfire." Marcus tossed back. He hadn't, but she didn't need to know that. He was betting that she just didn't want to be woken up. "Hurry up and open the door will you? We need to talk."
Marcus heard a crash from inside the cabin, followed by Chastity muttering some very unladylike things. Oh good. I caught her when she's grumpy. This will go well…
"What do you want, Marcus?" Chastity's voice came to him through the door, but even so he could feel the bitter look she was throwing in his direction.
"Are we really going to talk like this? Come on, Songbird…" Marcus leaned against the doorframe of her cabin, knowing what he must look like, especially using that nickname but he didn't care. He knew he had to get past the grudge she was likely still holding from their last talk and he didn't know any other way to do it.
After a moment Chastity's door swung open, and Marcus had to quickly avert his eyes.
"What?" Chastity snapped.
"You uh… You could've at least gotten dressed first…" Marcus muttered.
"You made it sound like such an emergency." Chastity shot back, hands on her hips. Marcus sighed and turned to look back at her, taking in the obviously silk light pink pajama set she was wearing. "I thought you didn't like pink? And… you know that shirt has more than one button to do up… right?"
Chastity pursed her lips and her eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms in front of her. "You know, I don't usually get such critiques when I'm alone with a man this late at night."
"Yeah, I'm sure there's not much talking happening at all… though I have heard some weird sounds coming from this part of camp at night."
Marcus saw the corners of Chastity's lip twitch into a smile before she furiously glared at him again. "What. Do you want. Marcus."
He sighed. "Can't I just want to talk?"
"Nobody ever visits at this time of night to talk. Sorry, but I'm only into makeup sex if I'm dating the guy."
Marcus rolled his eyes. "You do know there are other ways to make up after a fight… right?"
"Yeah, I do. But I don't see an expensive gift or flowers so you can't really do those things either." Chastity shot back, keeping the door half open, seemingly ready to shut it at a moment's notice.
"Alright, fine. I'm sorry." Marcus said, leaning against the doorframe again.
"You're sorry?"
"Yes. I'm sorry."
"For what?"
Marcus hesitated. He felt he was walking into a trap, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. "Huh?"
"What are you sorry for Marcus?" While Marcus had thought Chastity's glare could cut through stone before, the one she threw at him now made him wish glares could kill so he wouldn't have to be faced with it anymore.
"I'm sorry for going off on my own so much…?"
"And?"
"Gods, Chastity, what do you want me to say? I'm sorry I made you angry with me, I'm sorry I acted in a way that made your life worse, I'm sorry I went off on my own, I'm sorry about all of Boston okay!" Marcus exploded, covering his face with his hand at the end of it. Well that could have gone better…
"...Fine."
Marcus moved his hand away from his face to see Chastity barely looking at him, though her demeanor did begin to soften a little. "Fine…?"
"Yes. Fine. I know better than to believe a guy who says he's sorry the first time. Gotta prove you are if you want back in these good books. But I'll at least give you the shot to. Now, if there's nothing else-"
"Wait. There is one other thing I wanted to talk to you about…"
"No Marcus, my stance on makeup sex didn't change." Chastity snapped, though this
time, there was a bit of a smile behind her eyes when she said it.
"No it's not that. Gods. Look, Chiron said he found what he thinks is an Artifact-" And before he could get any further, Chastity slammed the door in his face. "Wait! Chastity!"
"Don't want to hear it Marcus!" Chastity's voice spat back at him through the door. "You don't get to apologize just because you want something from me again. Not how that works!"
"Come on Chastity, you know that's not what it was!" Marcus shot back, banging on the door again.
"Marcus I swear if you don't stop hitting my door I will come out there and smack you so hard you'll forget who Maddie is!"
Marcus knew when he was beaten. With a sigh, he turned and retreated to his own cabin for the night.
Sorry Mads… Looks like I'm a liar again after all…
