This this is a Re-write and Re-Telling of the Sonic Forces video game in a darker and dramatic way. Putting the story exactly where it needed to be. This is a Tale of the Resistance and their turmoil of a ruined world after the events of the attack in Metropolis City when their only hero gets taken away.

A MAJOR thanks to the Beta-Reader here on that helped me put this into words and to fix it as much as possible till I felt confident with it. Thanks to...

WARNING/DISCLAIMER! This is written with TEENS to ADULTS IN MIND. Bad Language is UNCENSORED.

In Context: Tails in this story is 16 yrs old. With that in mind. Sonic and everyone else are in their mid-twenties close to thirties. Reason for that is due to the tone of the story is Suspenseful Drama, Violence and Language. But don't worry they don't swear. Worst thing to come out of them is Damn. But... the OC's? Get ready to see that F-word quite a bit.

The Story is Drama first, Suspense and Action. In that order.

Another thing is that there aren't any Wisps elemental weapons of power. The weaponry is typical weapons used in military. Knives, Pistols, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns.

Same goes for Super Powers. Sonic and Friends are still intact. Sonic super-fast, Tails can fly... etc, etc, but the OC's don't. They are just average nobodies trying to make a difference.

Chapter 2: The Sky Prison Rescue

Part 4: A Bad Idea can be so Right.

Three massive Resistance aircrafts carrying two groups each fly towards one of the Flying Prisons near the Ruined Metropolis City at high speed.

The first aircraft is loaded with groups One and Two, the second aircraft has Three and Four, and the last has groups Five and Six. Zeke is with Group Five while Chris is with Group Six. Both groups are known as Ground Support.

Within the aircraft, Zeke just sits there, still being bitter and angry with himself… Sitting there remembering how Zander was trying to cheer him up in the bathroom.

Thinking about Zander, it reminds him to pat his pockets to make sure he has everything ready to go. It's what Zander does every day, making sure every pocket of his has something important that he needs for the day.

'Flashlight, handgun, C4, handgun ammo clips, rifle magazine and…' He then bends over, grabbing his assault rifle. He puts it on his lap and gets himself mentally prepared for what is to come next. Resting the back of his head against the wall, he feels and hears the aircraft engines roar, causing vibrations on the back of his head. It just causes him to get even more upset. He moves his head away and sighs while tilting his head downward to look at the floor instead. He mutters, "Last time."

Glancing back upward and across from him, he sees Group Six. All five of them are just sitting there quietly, doing nothing. He then looks over to the group he's with, who are at least talking to each other. 'Compared to them…' He looks back to Group Six. 'They're stoic and serious. Heck… even their type of clothing gear is different from mine. They're wearing mostly all black while I'm wearing mostly gray and brown. …Why? The 5th member of theirs, the Green Hedgehog on the far right is at least doing something. I've never seen him before. He must be a new recruit. He's meddling with his rifle. Looking down the sights, checking if it's in… good… condition?'

He looks at his own rifle… and does the same thing. '…Yup, looks good to me.'

The speakers activate as there Navigator announces, "Alright everyone, we're almost there. Just a couple minutes left. I have to do a mission re-cap. Are you ready?"

Most of the group five answers, but as soon as Zeke was about to do the same, "Ready." He hears someone's voice from across the way causing him to stop. Looking across the way and it came from the Green Hedgehog focusing on the Navigators voice.

"Here's the plan…

Step 1: We're going to be the very first to land.

Step 2: Once landing, you're going to destroy and cause as much chaos 'till you reach the perimeter wall.

Step 3: Once reaching the wall, you will blow it open.

Step 4: Once you breach, you will venture beyond it, but only to a certain point where you will stay and hold your position.

Doing all of these steps, making sure that the prison focus entirely on you, will grant the opportunity for Group One through Four to breach were the captives are being held. That is your mission. If at any point you go pass your position that you are meant to hold, the likelihood of evacuation will be close to zero percent chance. You do not want to be left behind. Understood?"

Again, everyone from group five answers… and the only one that answered from group six was the Green Hedgehog. 'Damn… what's there problem?'

The pilot then warns, "WE'RE HERE. EVERYBODY READY?"

Everyone that wasn't stoic shouts back, "READY!"

The first aircraft comes in at high speed and hovers without ever landing. Activating its turrets, any robot close by was immediately destroyed.

The bay door opens as both groups rush out guns blazing, destroying everything in sight and causing as much of a distraction as they can so the whole prison would focuses on them.

Zeke quickly hides behind wreckage of a giant robot. Peering over, he comes out of hiding unloading a full clip on any robot in range, till he goes back into hiding as robots return fire.

Once the swarm of laser fire dies down, Zeke was about to fire back till someone bumps into his side. Taking a look and it was the green hedgehog, but unfortunately for him, the cover was too big for him to be able to fire over. Looking pass the hedgehog and group six was right next to him barely firing a single shot. The hedgehog looks up to Zeke, and just shrugs in disappointment.

The hedgehog was about to attempt to blind fire, as he feels the back of his combat vest being grabbed then being slightly lifted off the floor. Able to see over the giant robot, he looks over the Zeke unloading his rifle at all the robots attempting to swarm them. The hedgehog smiles and anxiously does the same.

With enough robots destroyed the leader of group five orders, "MOVE! GO! HEAD TO THE WALL!"

Upon reaching the perimeter wall, someone from Group Six shouts an order, "There! That wall! Blow it open!"

Both groups split, placing C4 in the middle wall. Once done, they trigger the C4, causing a massive explosion so they can go further into the prison.

With the distraction going on, the other two aircrafts rush to the areas where the captives are located.

Getting past the destroyed wall, The Navigator warns, "You're going into deep. You need to stop or you'll pass the point of no return." but, for some unknown reason, Group Six insists to go in deeper. Group Five begin to slowly stop as Group Six just keeps on going.

"Stop, we can't go much more! We have to hold this spot! …STOP!" A member of Group Five warns.

Zeke stops and looks to Group Six while the green hedgehog looks right back at him, but Group Six keeps on going, forcing him to keep going. "What the heck are they doing?" One of the members asks.

Zeke, situated in between the two groups, he sees Group Six head down a corridor, ignoring the warning. Quickly, he turns back to his group and says, "I'll go with them. Don't do anything stupid …like what I'm doing right now. Leave when things get really bad." He starts running off to catch up with them as he hears someone shout behind him, "YOU'RE INSANE!"

Zeke tries to catch up to them, running down the same corridor that they are going. As he runs, he sees nothing but destroyed robots along the way. He knows it's that Green Hedgehog that is doing mostly all of the shooting for them.

Navigator warns, "Zeke, return b-ck to gr-up five. You're go—g to f-r. Go bac-.

Stopping at the exit of the corridor and entering a large open area, he looks up, able to see the night sky. He stops, trying to figure out where they went. "Shit… where did they go?" he mumbles.

Hearing the sound of robotic footsteps, he ducks out of sight as dozens of robots march right past him and go down the same corridor that he exited out of. His communicator activates as one of the soldiers informs, "Airc-aft One a-most f-ll; r-ady for li-toff?"

'Crap. I gotta head back. I fucking lost them going in too deep.' Slowly getting out of cover before another robot walks by, scaring him to hide again. He watches the robot head down the same corridor. 'Shit, forget about going that way. Who knows how many of them went down that way!'

His communicator activates as the Navigator warns, "Z-ke, you're too fa-. y-u hav- to c…-" all he can hear was the sound of static.

He looks back at the corridor, regaining a little courage. 'Alright, alright… got to… go… back?' Looking to the right of his exit he notices something. "That's a giant ass door," Zeke mutters, looking at a vault-like door. He looks around to see if the area is clear, then he gets up to take a closer look.

Meanwhile with group six, Chris thinks to himself still rushing forward, 'What the fuck is going on? We just left them back there. If we're not here to save anyone, then why are we here?'

Group Six slowly comes to a stop. Chris stands next to one of them, and the leader brings up his fist signaling everyone to stop. "It's here," he whispers. He points to Chris and orders, "Stay out here and shoot anyone or anything that shows up."

One of them opens the door slowly and one by one they enter. The door then closes.

'Shoot anyone? Robots, sure, but… anyone?' He thinks to himself as he stays outside and keeps watch. It is silent enough, but he can hardly hear what is going on in the room.

Aiming with his rifle, he keeps his sight down the darkened lit corridor, but notices something move in the darkness. "Hmm?" 'Something moved over there. Should I say something? No. What if a robot hears me?' He looks to the door again. 'What the fuck is taking them-' but then hears something fly right over him, causing him to look up. Hmm? What the hell was that? That didn't sound like a robot. That sounded like a mini-copter.'

The door then opens and all of them come out each carrying some kind of weird device.

One of them says, "Time to go, we're exiting a different way."

'What? A different way?' Chris wonders then asks, "What about Group Five? There-"

"What about them?" one of them says back maliciously.

Meanwhile, Zeke was growling frustrated, trying to get the vault-like door open using a computer console right next to it. 'I can't figure this shit out. Zander would know what to do, but he's not my Navigator. He would tell me what to do… after all the arguing for being alone and away from my squad.' He presses another button in hope that it works but an error message appears instead. He growls again, "Dammit." He looks away from the console and looks at the vault-like door again. 'What am I doing wrong? Fuck it. I tried my-' A button is heard being pressed causing him to look down at the console as the vault-like door comes to life, opening. 'I didn't do anything. Whatever that was… worked.'

The door slides upward, opening the way.

"Son of a… I was about to C4 the fuck out of this door." Stepping inside was a long hallway, leading to… another big vault-like door. Getting angry, he grabs his C4 and starts walking down the hallway. Splat, place igniter, press trigger while branding the finger; he causes a small contained explosion to not alert robots close by.

'What the heck are they hiding? It's just a dark room,' he wonders as he takes out his flashlight and shines into it. 'Left side nothing and to… the…'

A hand raises up to block the light.

"Oh shit," he gasps in disbelief.

"It's about time… someone showed up," Sonic says, looking right back.

Zeke anxiously approaches, "You've got to be kidding me; you've been here the whole time? Can you get up… walk?"

"A little," Sonic answers slowly, trying to get up.

He grabs his communicator and shouts into it, "NAVIGATOR, CAN YOU HEAR ME? ANYONE? ANYONE OUT THERE? OVER!" He looks at his communicator as sounds of static come out of it. Getting worried, he asks again, "Hello… anyone?"

"Bad provider? Never reliable when you need them the most," Sonic jokes.

Zeke slowly turns his gaze to Sonic in disbelief. 'Are you kidding me with this?'

Seeing his reaction towards him, "I have a lot of pent-up sarcasm that I need to get out, been months that I haven't talked to anyone."

He looks up at the ceiling and examines the room, "It has to be this room. C'mon, we got to go." He gets him up to his feet, and they slowly make their way to the exit.

Zeke exits out first with his assault rifle drawn. He slowly heads down the hallway.

Sonic follows, using the wall as support to keep up.

They manage to get down the hallway as Zeke looks up and sees one of the aircrafts fly right over him while his communicator goes crazy with static.

Zeke begins to panic, "No! No! Shit!" He goes back to shouting into his communicator. "GUYS, I'M STILL HERE! I HAVE SONIC WITH ME! GUYS?… ANYONE?" He gets nothing but static in return.

"You have a Plan-B?" Sonic asks.

Zeke just stands there looking up at the sky in disbelief. He can't believe that he was just left behind. 'Zander… Call Zander.' He starts adjusting his communicator settings. "I have an idea."

Zander sits on the aircraft with dozens of saved captives, feeling proud with himself as they escape away quickly, leaving the prison miles away already. He raises both his arms over his head to stretch and starts hearing a weird buzzing sound from his communicator.

"Hmm?" He puts his ear next to it. "staticstaticZanstaHelstatic!"

"Help?" He checks the transmission code '…Z4132?…' His eyes widen realizing who it is. "No! No, No!" He looks out the window. "NO! WE HAVE TO GO BACK!" He shouts.

"What, why?" Knuckles asks, being leader of group four.

"There's someone still back there!"

"We can't… it's already high alert and dangerous. We have to go."

"Zeke is still back there!" he pleads.

"WE… It's… We can't. We have to go." He looks at all the saved captives and sadly says, "We can't risk all these captives… just to go back for one person. I'm sorry. We have to go now."

Zander just stands there knowing that it's true. He turns away and slowly goes back to his seat. He then sits right back down. He puts his hands over his head. 'You were right. This really was your last mission.'

Zeke stands there hoping for an answer but gets nothing. "Plan-B? I never go past Plan-A." He looks at Sonic. "Do you know where the hangar is?"

"They move me from place to place. If I'm right… it should be that… ugh! …that way," Sonic says, raising his arm to point.

Zeke looks down at his short stature. "It'll be faster if you piggyback on me."

Sonic just stares back up refusing the idea of it. "Piggyback?"

"Alright, then I'll see you over there?" Zeke mocks with a smirk.

Sonic scoffs at the idea then looks up at Zeke and requests, "Better keep this between both of us."

Sonic wraps his arms around his neck as Zeke hoists him up. "Are you ready?"

"Let's do this."

Zeke starts running off and stops from time to time to not to get caught by any patrolling robots. "Am I going the right way?" Zeke whispers.

"Almost there. It's in that direction," he answers while pointing.

Rushing down a corridor, he is met with a branching path to take. "Which way… left or right?" he quickly asks, coming to a stop but still jogging in place looking from left to right.

"Umm… Left."

With no hesitation, Zeke rushes down the left corridor. But, from within the corridor Sonic's voice can be heard, "Nope. It's the right.

Zeke comes running back taking the right path just as Sonic corrects himself again, "It was the left route."

Zeke came back yet again, but stops and just looks at Sonic from the corner of his eye.

With his arms around Zeke's chest, Sonic can feel his chest rumbling from his growling. He slowly apologetically smiles, "Right is always right."

With a slight shake, Zeke makes a mad dash in that direction.

Exiting out of the corridor and while running across a bridge extended three stories high, he looks down to the ground floor able to see the enemy aircrafts. "I know the way now. Just down-"

A loud gunshot roars out as Zeke gets hit in the arm. The force of the hit whips his body around making Sonic fly off his back. Zeke slams onto the floor hard, losing his rifle in the process. In pain, he looks at his rifle seeing how far it is from him but then turns his gaze to Sonic, seeing him struggling to get back to his feet. He grabs Sonic instead and slides back, hiding behind containers and wooden crates pulling Sonic to safety.

"Ahh… SHIT!" Zeke says, grabbing his right arm in pain.

"Hit in the arm?" Sonic asks, looking at Zeke.

"Yeah, got me good too. GRrrrr!" Zeke answers, putting pressure on the wound.

"You should be used to it by now." Sonic quips.

Slightly mad he says, "Oh really? Sorry but I didn't sign up for this line of work. HECK, I should be in the DAMN AIR FLYING! …But nope. Anyways, did you see where-"

"Sonic!" A loud robotic voice yells out.

Zeke turns to see where the voice is coming from but Sonic… is in a state of shock. He begins to start breathing heavily.

"Where do you think you're going? Time to put you back into your cage!"

Holding his arm while trying to sneak a peek around the corner, "Great, sounds like someone knows-"

"I'm not leaving…" Sonic interrupts him.

"What?" He asks, looking at Sonic confused.

"I'm not leaving…" he says again.

"What do you mean not leaving?"

"I'M NOT LEAVING… UNTIL HE'S IN PIECES!" Sonic yells out in anger.

"Are you kidding me?" He looks all over Sonic, seeing the terrible state he's in. "In case you didn't notice, you're not in the best shape to fight at the-"

"I'M NOT…" Sonic interrupts again but then calms down. He then explains, "Months… months being tortured by him. I'm not leaving-"

Zeke speaks over him, "I know, I know. …I get it. Until he's in pieces," he finishes while looking around the corner, trying to see where the shot came from.

Part 5: Make Every Shot Count

Zeke keeps on looking around the corner, until another shot takes a clean chunk out of the corner of a few wooden crates. "Son of a… A-hole playing sniper. We can't stay here for long," Zeke warns in a desperate tone.

Sonic begins speaking as he gets up, "He wants me. I can-"

"NO! You stay RIGHT there," Zeke demands, pulling him back down.

"I can cause a distraction. He won't kill me. He'll probably hurt me but not kill me," Sonic insists.

"And you think you haven't been hurt enough?" Zeke asks, getting up while holding his arm.

"No, but I'm not going to give up just yet. There's plenty of room left on my body to get bruises still," Sonic answers as he gets up as well.

They stare at each other, then Zeke hands him his gun and requests, "Make. Every. Shot. Count."

Meanwhile, back with Group Six, Chris is shooting and blasting every robot in sight trying to get to their extraction point and make sure everyone is safe. Slowing down slightly, he keeps his rifle drawn as he makes his way down the corridor to the exit. He looks to the left side as one of the soldiers walks past him, taking the lead. With his focus robbed, a robot appears to take a shot. As the soldier gets hit, Chris fires back, hitting the robot's sensors, destroying it instantly.

One of the other soldiers picks up the injured soldier and argues, "You're supposed to keep us safe!"

"Then stay the fuck behind me," Chris argues back.

Before any of the other soldiers can complain, one of them raises up a fist in command, "Shut-up!" Everyone stops and watches him. He holds it up for a few seconds then quickly brings it down as he warns, "He's here. Hide."

Everyone hides in dark-patched areas in the corridor.

Chris hides, staying perfectly still and silent. Whatever it is the soldier warned about… it had revealed itself, hovering slowly directly over them, stopping every few feet. His eyes glow violet in the darkness through his metallic gray pointed mask. Purple particles spewing from his body that he could actually… hear it? Chris couldn't even pull his eyes away. His vision painfully getting distorted, odd blurry images randomly popping into his mind, until a voice whispers out to him, "Do it."

He grabs his head as the pressure builds, still looking at The Masked Figure, "Gah! Wha?"

"Do it," the voice whispers again.

"Do what? Gah! Wh-Who's whispering to-" He gets punched.

"Stop looking at him, idiot!" the soldier next to him orders.

"Go, go, go. It's safe," another one says.

"What the fuck was that… what the…" Chris couldn't believe what just happened, having a difficult time even running straight.

Once everyone reaches an open area, one of them fires off a flare, lighting up the area. A couple of minutes later, an aircraft shows up, but it isn't a Resistance aircraft. Once it lands, all of them get into the aircraft causing it to quickly take off.

Within the craft, one of the soldiers celebrates, "Can't believe we managed to find it and survive the ordeal"

"Survive? I got shot?" He points to Chris, who has his hand over his head. "No thanks to him."

"Don't worry. Once we get back… he'll get what he-"

In an instant, the entire aircraft gets slammed from the side, sending everyone inside colliding against the inner wall.

"What the hell was that? Did we get-"

The aircraft gets hit once again knocking everyone off their feet as soon as the metallic bay door easily gets ripped right off.

"OH SHIT… IT'S HIM!" someone shouts.

"FIRE! FUCKING FIRE!" another shouts. Everyone opens fires at the Masked Figure, but nothing happens. The bullets don't even make contact with him.

Chris just stands there, not firing a single shot. He only stares at The Masked Figure instead. His vision gets distorted once again, making him dizzy. He drops his rifle, closing his eyes, and he turns around to grab onto anything.

"NO, DON'T! Aaahhh!" One of the men shouts as he gets grabbed and is thrown out of the aircraft, yelling as he falls into darkness. Another gets grabbed and is thrown out too. One gets grabbed and is repeatedly slammed against the aircraft like a ragdoll, then is finally thrown out.

One of the soldiers opens fire again but the Masked Figure raises up the palm of his hand at and launches an energy ball right back. It connects with the soldier, causing him to go flying back through the cockpit door, creating an explosion inside of it, causing the aircraft to lose control.

As Chris holds on, he feels himself almost about to get grabbed but then the aircraft quickly begins to spin around and around, losing altitude as it completely flies out of the air… falling right back down missing the flying prison entirely heading straight to the ground.

Meanwhile back with Zeke, he awkwardly looks at Sonic, who is examining the handgun he's been given, looking like he doesn't know what to do with it. Being concerned, he asks, "You do know how to use one… right?"

Sonic looks back at him annoyed. "I know how to fire a gun."

"You slowly…-" He sighs. "Can't believe I'm actually fucking saying this. You go out in view and slowly walk down the walk way. Once you get his attention I'll go over the side of the bridge and shimmy my way to where-"

There were sounds of robots approaching. "Shit, robots are coming. Ready?" Zeke asks eagerly.

"Ready." Sonic says as he goes out into the open. Sonic thinks to himself worriedly, 'He's not going to shoot me. He's not going to-' A gun shot sounds off as a bullet hole is created right in front of his feet, making him flinch. Looking down at the bullet hole, inches away from his feet, he then looks up, spotting the Warden aiming right at him. "He's aiming at my feet," he muttered concerned.

Zeke is out on the side of the bridge, hanging out of view, making sure not to fall off. Inch by inch he gets closer to the other side.

"Never took you for a quitter," the Warden mocks as he looks through his scope. "Where's your friend? Did he run from you? That just shows that no one cares about you! Ha, ha, ha!-" Zeke then rushes at him from the side, tackling him and slamming him into the wall, making him lose his rifle. Up against the wall, he begins to punch him with only his left arm, followed by kicks.

The Warden then throws an elbow, hitting him in the side, then proceeds to grab his injured right arm. Zeke gives a shout of pain that gets cut off when the Warden grabs him by the throat and slams him into a nearby wall.

"Hi, new plaything. I'm going to make you my new bitch!" the Warden gloats.

"That's a bad idea," Zeke says.

"Oh, why is that?" he asks.

"Uhh… well it's because of one reason… NO, no, two reasons," Zeke says, holding up the two fingers to get his attention. "One is because-" He puts up one finger. "uhh, well it's because I'm just not your type AND two-" He raises his two fingers again. "It's uhhh well- " Warden tightens his grip, applying pressure to his arm. He yells out in pain again. Zeke thinks to himself, 'Gawd damn Sonic, can you limp any fucking slower? I'm running out of shit to say.' He looks at the Warden to get his attention.

The Warden releases his arm still grabbing his neck. "You talk too much. That's something that needs to change!" He pulls out a knife and thrusts it in front of Zeke's face, causing his eyes to widen in shock. "OPEN WIDE! It's only going to hurt-"

Zeke shakes his head, trying to pull away from it. He quickly says, "No, NO, no, just listen. It's really important that you should really know that…-" He notices the main sensors attached to the side of his head that keep him functional. Zeke changes his tone and points to the Warden's sensor on his head. "Aim right here!"

The Warden's eyes widen and turns as Sonic fires a shot point blank into his head, causing Zeke to collapse onto the floor.

Sonic just keeps on pulling the trigger over and over, firing it at the Warden's head until the clip is empty, but even then… he just keeps pulling it.

Zeke walks right beside him and just stands there, holding onto his arm.

Sonic finally stops pulling the trigger on the gun, and then hands it back over and says, "Sorry, you did say to make every shot count."

Zeke grabs the gun and puts it back in the holster. He looks at the floor seeing the knife, and then back to Sonic's legs, seeing the scars on them. "It's ok. The bullets were weighing me down anyways," he says back.

Sonic turns and raises his arms and with a smile says, "Piggyback?"

"No, we walk," Zeke refuses as he walks away holding his arm.

Sonic tilts his head down and slowly… limps… along… the away… Hearing the sound of footsteps he tilts his head back up. He smiles raising his arms up.

"Son of a… get on," Zeke says, coming back to pick him up. "Gah! Ow, geez…" He helps Sonic get into the elevator to reach the bottom floor.

Rushing out of the elevator, Zeke runs to enemy aircraft to enemy aircraft till he was lucky enough to find one with the bay door open. With zero hesitation, he runs right into it.

Putting Sonic down, he franticly searches every compartment muttering, "Alright, alright… where are you? One of them is here?… No… here? …Dammit."

"What are you looking for?" Sonic asks, watching him go back and forth.

"Tracking devices, there should be three of them." Opening a compartment, he plunges his hand onto it, "…YES!" He pulls out a device along with its wires. "Out you go." He throws it out. "We can't fly back to base knowing this will track them right back to it. Next one should be here? …Bingo."

He walks to the bay door to throw it out only to then get shot at. "Oh crap!" Zeke shouts, getting startled as he hides behind a metal container. He pulls out his gun, reloads it, and begins to fire right back. While firing, he shouts to Sonic, "The other device should-" A bullet flies right over his head. "GAWD DAMN!... UNDER THE DASH!"

Sonic limps into the cockpit, going straight to the dashboard and what he sees under… "Lights… so many blinking lights." Not sure what to pull out, he asks back, "Uhhh, what color is the light?"

Back outside, Zeke shouts back in a panic, "PURPLE!" another bullet flies over his head again. "SHIT!"

"Found it!" he hears Sonic say.

"Break it!" 'This is bad. So many… so many of them. Can't leave with so many shooting at us-' In an instant the turrets from the aircraft come to life, firing at the crowd of robots, obliterating them. "Oh shit," Zeke says with a smile. He then starts shooting at the ones that survived the chaos. Once the last one is destroyed, Zeke goes back into the aircraft to see Sonic on the controls of the turrets.

Sonic says, nodding in approval, "Not bad. Almost as good as my homing attack."

"Let's get the heck out of here," Zeke responds as he sits on the pilot seat in pain flipping switches and pressing buttons.

"Is this something you could fly?" Sonic asks, watching him press random buttons.

Trying to sound confident, "Our planes, I can fly. This? …Don't be surprised if we crash."

Remaining silent, Sonic quickly puts his seat belt on.

The aircraft hovers off the floor as it slightly tilts off center till it finally straightens. Thrusting forward, they blast off making there escape.

"Might as well relax cause It's going to take a couple of hours to get back-"

"ZZZzzzzz…!" Zeke looks over to Sonic asleep on the chair.

He smirks, "That was fast." Forgetting that he should've checked first to see if they were really alone, he quickly looks over his shoulder… but out of the corner of his eye, he sees a hand rise up giving him the thumbs-up.

Sonic then puts it down and mumbles, "So glad… you… were on the ground."

He sighs, feeling bad about flying, and says right back, "Yeah… me too."

Hours later at one of the Radar Stations near the Resistance Base, the Radar Operator gets confused at what he's looking at, "What the? ...Sir, you have to see this."

"What is it?" The Chief asks.

"It's an enemy aircraft," he responds confused.

"You know what to do. Shoot it down," The Chief orders.

He backs away from the terminal and explains, "But sir, you really need to see this. What's so weird about it is that it has its hazard lights on. Weapons are cold too."

"Really?" He looks at the image and also becoming unsure about it, and says, "Let it land… but be armed and ready. If it's hostile, it will instantly become a crater where it lands."

Meanwhile inside the enemy aircraft, "Please don't shoot me… Please don't shoot me," Zeke chants inside. 'I flicked every light on like its Christmas. I hope they get a clue.' "…Please don't shoot me… Please don't shoot me."

Sonic, who is awake, sees Zeke struggling to keep conscious. He looks at his arm drenched in blood as the tip of his elbow drips blood from it. On the floor, lies a puddle from it all.

Sensing Sonic's worry, he mutters, "Almost there. Almost."

As the enemy aircraft lands outside at the Resistance Base, the bay door opens, with every Resistance Soldier pointing their weapons ready to fire. Everyone else including rescued civilians just stand around watching.

"DON'T FIRE! Don't Fire!" Zeke shouts as he steps out, holding his arm.

Knuckles, knowing who it is, shouts back furious, "You have to be… ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND-?" but then sees Zeke look back as Sonic slowly limps out. "…Sonic?" Knuckles utters in disbelief.

"Hey guys. I'm back. Long time no see," Sonic says raising a hand.

Someone from the crowd shouts ordering, "Someone get a medic down here. ASAP!" Everyone rushes towards the aircraft to help.

Thirty minutes later in Zeke's medical room, he sits there poking his arm bandages. "Ow! Yup. Hurts." He hears someone's footsteps enter the room, causing him to look at the door, seeing Zander standing there. He gets up and stands there, staying quiet for a bit. Not looking at him directly, he says, ashamed, "I'm sorry."

Zander looks all over him then stops at the bandages on his arm. "Does it hurt?"

He turns to look at his bandages. "Just a little-" A fist comes flying into view, as Zander punches his arm in anger. He shouts in pain, grabbing onto it.

"THAT'S WHAT YOU GET! IS THAT WHAT YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY THAT IT'S YOU'RE 'LAST' MISSION? SCARE THE FUCK OUT OF YOU'RE FRIENDS? YOU ASSHOLE!" Zander yells at him, trying not to cry.

Zeke just stands there silently with his head down holding his arm. He closes the gap and hugs him.

Staying silent, Zander begins to cry. "Let go of (sniff) me. I want to (sniff) punch you again. Can't punch you (sniff) if you're hugging me."

He hugs him tighter. "Thanks for caring."

Zander… hugs back.

Hours later at the Announcement Area, crowds of people stand around, ranging from rescued captives to Resistance members.

Knuckles approaches the mic to send his congrats for a well-done mission. "We did great last night. In a span of a few moments we've saved so many more lives than we have ever done in months. I want to thank each and every single person that was a part of the mission… even though we lost some people, like Group Six, that went missing." Everyone looks at each other unhappy… but not as much as Trish, as she looks at her clipboard, at Chris's name.

"Thank you again, but no matter what, we will rise again and take back what was taken from us!" The crowd cheers.

"So again, I want to really thank you from the bottom of my heart-" His face was still facing straight forwards but his eyes were on Zeke. "Thank you… very, …very, much."

Zeke stands and nods right back.
