This this is a Re-write and Re-Telling of the Sonic Forces video game in a darker and dramatic way. Putting the story exactly where it needed to be. This is a Tale of the Resistance and their turmoil of a ruined world after the events of the attack in Metropolis City when their only hero gets taken away.

A MAJOR thanks to the Beta-Reader here on that helped me put this into words and to fix it as much as possible till I felt confident with it. Thanks to...

Reason for that is due to the tone of the story is Suspenseful Drama, Violence and Language. But don't worry they don't swear. Worst thing to come out of them is Damn. But... the OC's? Get ready to see that F-word quite a bit.

Another thing is that there aren't any Wisps elemental weapons of power. The weaponry is typical weapons used in military. Knives, Pistols, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns.

Same goes for Super Powers. Sonic and Friends are still intact. Sonic super-fast, Tails can fly... etc, etc, but the OC's don't. They are just average nobodies trying to make a difference.

Chapter 8: The One that Watches and Protects

Part 17: These Bandaged Legs of Mine

Chris takes a seat as he lets out a groan of pain. Once settling down, he looks to Amy staring back, worried. "Don't worry… I'm fine."

"You don't like the way Knuckles says "Hi?""

"That's his fucking name? Geez… It's nice to remember what I ate for dinner last night."

"He's very protective and doesn't like seeing his friends get hurt."

Hearing those last words, it reminds him of what happened to her at the storage building. "I'm glad to see that you're okay."

She smiles back from his concern, "Don't worry about me. What you said back in the building made me so happy that Tails is ok,"

"Tails?"

"Yeah, Tails. Sonic's best friend. If he were here right now, he'd be really happy to hear what you're about to say," Amy says, trying not to get too emotional.

"Sonic?" Chris begins to chuckle. "I'm pretty sure he'd be okay. Last time I saw him, he was preoccupied with something else," he says with a vengeful smirk.

Rewind ten hours back to last night…

Leaving Amy's room, down the hallway and back into the large examining room where Sonic is sitting still.

Sonic gets up rubbing his left leg. Still feeling the effects of the paralysis, he limps and slowly leaves the room looking at everyone. "You should get some sleep and a well-deserved rest," the nurse informs him.

"That's on my to-do list," he responds back, still heading to the exit.

"Wait," the nurse says, tapping his shoulder.

Sonic stops, but he eagerly wants to leave and go to his hospital bed.

She hands him a key. "You've been relieved and are okay to sleep in the barracks in your very own room. Everyone here knows that you don't want to be anywhere near Dr. Robotnik."

He looks at the key. "Thanks. Appreciate it," he says and heads to the exit.

Leaving the building, Sonic slowly makes his way back to his sleeping quarters thinking to himself, 'I need to find out who the traitor is that hurt Amy. If Chris really did it then he wouldn't have left me alive and then tell me all of that. My gut tells me that he was telling me the truth.'

He stops to rub his legs. While doing it, he notices Resistance Soldiers seeing him do it. 'I can't just go around accusing people and pit everyone against each other. I just have to be patient and wait 'til he tells me who it is.'

He finally gets to his barracks unlocking the door to his own sleeping quarters. He heads straight to his bed and just flops onto it. "I just… have… to… wait," Sonic mumbles as he pulls the bed sheets over himself and falls asleep.

In the morning he's woken up by a knock on the door. Outside, the door opens as Sonic only pokes his head out from the doorway being annoyed seeing who it is. "I'm not a morning person, Charmy. Go away," Sonic says, slamming the door.

"You have a request to head back to the labs," Charmy says to his now closed door.

"WHAT, WHY? CHRIS TOOK ALL THE INFO!" Sonic shouts from the other side.

"All that info showed up. I found it in Amy's database this morning."

Inside, Sonic couldn't believe what he just heard. 'What? He really did say what he was going to do.' He quickly opens the door. "Then why go back?" Sonic asks, confused.

"Infinite's chamber was found in the info. It's located at the labs where you were. Officer Colbort requesting you to head back."

Unsure who he's talking about, he asks, "Officer Colbort? Who's that?"

"He's the Informant Officer that was asking you questions yesterday."

"Oh…yeah. I remember him now."

"He handpicked you to go, since you've already been there. Plus five highly trained soldiers and a navigator are going with you to make sure everything goes okay."

Concerned that he's going with people that he doesn't know again, he mutters, "Really?" Sonic looks around and whispers, "Not sure that I want to go with people that I don't know tagging along. Can you come?" he hopes that he says yes.

"I can't. Everyone's busy and I'm doing Amy's job… now…" He sees Sonic's expression slightly saddens. "Uh… sorry," he apologizes for what he said.

"It's okay. I'll be ready in a couple of seconds," Sonic says as he closes the door.

Brimming with happiness, he eagerly says, "Ok, I'll go and-"

The door quickly re-opens. "Ready," Sonic says, walking right by.

Flying back to the labs in the aircraft, Sonic sits comfortably alone on one of the seats with his eyes closed. With them closed, he hears some of the Resistance Soldiers laugh and snicker. He hears one of them say, "What a fanboy," then laughter again. After the laughter, he hears footsteps as it comes to a stop in front of him. 'Is someone… in front of me?' Slowly opening his eyes, a Soldier stood directly in front of him. Slightly startled, he quickly calms down and says, "Hi."

"Umm, sorry for umm bothering you… but… can I have your autograph?" the soldier asks, not trying to be too nervous.

Sonic looks at the other soldiers laughing at him knowing that he can't turn him down, embarrassing him even more. He looks back at the soldier. "Yeah, sure. What do you want me to autograph?"

He pulls out a small pink plush teddy bear and a black marker. "This belongs to my daughter. She makes me take it every time when I go out on a mission. With your name on it, it will make it even more special."

Sonic looks at it and smiles. "Sure. No harm doing that." He takes it, signs it and hands it back.

"Thanks." He looks down to Sonic's bandaged legs. "Good to see that you're back and running around. Hope you get back to feeling a hundred percent again." He walks away going back to the other soldiers to show it off.

Watching him show it off made him feel happy, and it also helped calm his nerves. Sonic then glances over to the same Informant Officer from the emergency room that's leading them, a strict and uncaring look on his face. Watching the Informant it made him feel alerted, cautious and back to not trusting anyone again.

The aircraft arrives back to the Lab Area and hovers directly over the spot where Infinite was being held. Sonic hops out and so does the Informant Officer and the Resistance Soldiers as well. The navigator stays behind to keep an eye on them.

They enter the building and make their way to the hidden chamber that Infinite was being held in.

Inside, the large bleak lit room is surrounded by electrical equipment and computers. In the center of the room lies a large, square, violet transparent glass cube.

Eyes on the glass cube, Sonic approaches it, getting slightly close to it. Sensing the Informant Officer approaching from behind, he asks, "So Infinite was held in this?"

"It would appear to be," he answers. He sees Sonic raise his hand up to it almost about to touch it…

Interrupting, a Resistance Soldier approaches asking, "Is this the device?"

Sonic lowers his hand, turning his attention to the soldier as the Officer answers, "No, that's not it." Just as the Soldier was about to leave, he looks at the glass cube and raises his hand up to it. The Informant scolds, demanding, "DON'T TOUCH IT!"

The soldier quickly backs away from it, apologizing, "Sorry sir," and walks away to go search.

Sonic looks over to the Informant as he looks right back. "I'll go search for what we're looking for," He says walking away.

'Geez… he didn't have to go off on him like that. I was about to touch it and he didn't… even…' He looks over to the soldier again then back to the Informant. '…he didn't say anything to me. Why?' Turning back to the cube, he takes a step back getting away from it.

As they search, Sonic gets a transmission call from his communicator watch. "This is H.Q. to Sonic over?"

Sonic answers the transmission, "I'm here, what is it?"

"Someone has something to say to you," the responder says.

"Alright, who is it?" Sonic asks examining the glass cube that Infinite was held in.

"It's me Chris," Sonic quickly stops what he's doing and completely focuses on his voice. "Re… remember what I said? …It's him, the Informant Officer. He did it." Chris's voice is loud enough for everyone to hear in the room.

Sonic turns his head, narrowing his eyes directly at the Informant. 'He's the one that did it?'

The Officer stops what he's doing and looks right back.

Placing his hand on his communicator not taking his eyes off of him, Sonic completely turns off, cutting off the transmission to the H.Q.

The Officer stands there, looking at Sonic with his hand on his gun.

The five other Resistance Soldiers stand around trying to figure out what's going on.

Sonic still stares right at him, trying to remain calm as he asks, "So you handpicked me to come… huh?" He then changes his tone and demands, "You better give me a damn good reason why you shot her."

The Officer grabs his gun and fires at Sonic as the bullet phases through Sonic's body. He reappears and punches him in the face and disappears again. The Officer begins firing in all different directions as Sonic runs by punching him again in the face. He rubs the side of his face as Sonic quickly hides behind equipment.

The Officer fires again, but once Sonic reappears, the Officer ducks his punch and right hooks him in the leg.

Sonic loses his footing and slams onto the floor in pain. "Ahh gah!" He tries to get up and run but the Officer kicks him in the leg causing him to collapse back down. The Informant aims and pulls the trigger.

Sonic quickly rolls to his side then onto his back and then kicks the Officer in the knee cap making him lose his balance, causing him to land on one knee.

The Officer tries to aim back but Sonic kicks again, hitting him across the jaw.

Sonic tries getting up again but then the Officer tackles him from behind putting his overweight body on him, getting pinned to the floor.

With one arm around Sonic's neck, The Informant begins to raise the gun up to Sonic's face.

Struggling to push it back, Sonic then swings his head backwards- "Grrr rah!" -slamming into the Informant's cheek, piercing it with his quills.

"AAHHHH!" The Officer yells out in pain releasing Sonic as he grabs his face. In anger he aims again and fires.

Sonic staggers to run and hide behind something he almost gets shot in the back of the head as the bullet whizzes past his ear. Getting away, he then collapses behind electrical equipment and rubs his leg to make the pain stop. He takes a deep breath and tries not to lose control again.

The Resistance Soldiers just stand there talking amongst themselves, not knowing what to do.

The Officer pulls one of the quills out of the side of his cheek. Blood runs down the side of his neck as he spits out blood and yells ordering them to fire at Sonic as he reloads his gun, "FIND HIM AND SHOOT HIM!"

The Soldiers look right back, but are unsure what to do as they talk to each other.

"WHAT ARE YOU STANDING AROUND FOR? I SAID FUCKING SHOOT HIM!" he orders them again.

One of the soldiers slightly steps forward and says, "We've been ordered not to, sir." He then steps back as the rest do the same.

In disbelief being overruled, he demands, "What? WHO MADE THAT ORDER?"

Rewind two hours back, at the Resistance Fighter Planes Hangar Area…

Over on the Resistance Hangar field, one of the Hover Crafts perfectly hovers off the ground and into the air then blast off into the clouds. Zeke wanting to be behind the controls so bad, he was forced to remain grounded instead.

"HEY ZEKE!" he hears one of the pilots yell out. "DID YOU SEE THAT?! THAT'S HOW YOU LIFT OFF! NOT ALL CROOKED AND SHIT!"

Hearing several pilots laugh, Zeke mocks back, "Flying a Hover Craft is way different then flying a Fighter Plane."

The pilot flips him off causing him to smirk. Putting his attention onto one of the fighter planes, Zeke's focus drifted onto one of them, day dreaming of dancing in the sky with it… but unfortunately for him, completely unaware of his surroundings, he hears from one of the pilots worriedly say, "Oh crap. What the hell did he do to piss her off?"

Unsure why the pilot said that, he cautiously turns around, being confronted with a nightmare. It was Trish. A very angry Trish. 'Oh crap… what did I do? Shit, it could be anything. Calm… stay calm.' Trying not to panic, which he fails to do, he asks, "Ummm… uhh, hi?"

"Where Zander?" she orders.

"He's uhh… he's…" His eyes wearily go over to the Barracks. "…he's over… at the… umm… the Barracks? Playing NightFort?"

Trish narrows her eyes and crosses her arms not uttering a word.

Trying to remain calm, he looks away scratching the side of his face. "No? Uhh… He's uhh… How about the Mess Hall? With a full tray of food? You know how long… it-it… takes…"

She narrows her eyes even further, activating… Death Stare.

Zeke's jaw trembles and subtle whimpers soon follow.

Off in the distance, Knuckles and Silver witness it all. Knuckles scoffs, "Hmph! That's our hero's hero."

"Umm… is she allowed to do that?" Silver asks, seeing how terrified, the tall wolf is being treated. "Should you stop her?"

Knuckles raises an eye brow concerned at the question. "Stop her? Stop an overprotective, older sibling? Not even your powers will be enough to hold her back."

"Geez… you can hear him whimpering from over… here… wait… is he saying-"

Zeke pleads, "Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me!"

She grabs him by the collar pulling him down to her height demanding, "WHERE'S ZANDER?!"

"He's on a Recon Mission!"

From concern to anger in a matter of a second, she asks, "HE'S OVER THE WALL… AGAIN?!"

"He left this morning!"

She releases him and goes through the list of names on her clipboard. "There's nothing scheduled about a Recon Mission."

"I was the only one he told. He told me it was a secret mission."

"When did he tell you?"

"When I was-"

Rewind one hour…

Lazily relaxing on a seat near the Hanger Area, Zeke rest with his eyes closed hearing the engines of the aircrafts. While relaxing under the sun, he hears someone approach followed by blocking the sun. A familiar high pitch voice soon follows, "Enjoying your time off?" Zander asks.

"Yup," he answers back.

"How long are you going to milk that gunshot wound?" he says, making fun of him.

Zeke goes through his pocket taking out a note and shows it. "Like the Doc says: Must Rest and No Physical Activities till Properly Healed. In other words…" He grabs his arm. "Oooh, ahhh, I'm in so much pain." Not hearing a remark, he opens one eye to check, noticing a big smile on his face. Being curious, he asks, "Why are you so happy?"

"I'm here with some awesome news… well, awesome for me. The kind of news that will make you jealous of me," he gloats.

"Hah, yeah right. Fat chance that's ever going to happen," he mocks back.

Zander smiles, leaning in closer to whisper, "I was just picked to be on a secret recon mission."

"Oh gasp. Wha, naw really? I can't believe it. Oh'muh'gawd. I'm so jealous. What should I do? Makes me rethink of my life choices. Why did I pick to be a pilot instead of a navigator? Dammit, I should've listened to my mother. I knew-"

Zeke unleashes his onslaught of sarcasm as Zander stands there listening to it all, not annoyed by any of it as he knows that two single words will shut him up. Three… two… one… "With Sonic," he says with a big smile.

With his mockery coming to a dead stop, he slowly rises up from his seat and looks at Zander while laughing. "Are you kidding me?"

Zander explains happily, "I got picked this morning. It just came out of nowhere. Saw the names on the mission statement and Sonic's name was on it. I literally lost my shit thinking it was a joke."

Unable to stop laughing, he sighs, "I knew there was no way he was ever going to stay put for long. Last time I saw him was when we got back that one night," he says, leaning right back into his seat. He finishes with, "Either way-" with a sense of seriousness and a tone to match, "It's your turn now."

Zander, knowing exactly what he means. "My turn?"

"Yup. Your turn. Take care of him. Make sure he comes back in one piece," Zeke warns.

Accepting the warning, Zander looks towards the aircrafts and says, "Don't worry. I'll keep a good eye on him and make sure everything turns out okay."

Fast Forward back to Zeke Finishing Explaining…

"Unbelievable," Trish says trying to contain her anger.

"There's nothing to worry about, Sonic's with him."

Just as Trish was about to storm off… "Umm… Trish?" She hears Zeke's worried voice. She turns to face him, seeing his hands clasped together, begging, "Please don't tell Zander that I told you."

'This wolf. This big… dumb… wolf. The friend of my brother. He's the only one that can successfully calm down, not only my anger… but also my stress.' She sighs, "Zeke… didn't you just tell me, that you were the only one that he talked to?" She turns and continues on her way.

And with a terrible realization, Zeke unclasps his hands slowly raising it up to his head. "Nooo… oh shit. No… no…" He looks away trying to calm down seeing two pilots ashamed with him. He whines, "WHAT?! YOU DON'T KNOW THEM LIKE I DO!"

Hours later, arriving at the Labs, Zander remained on the aircraft as everyone gets off to search where Infinite was held. He stands there watching them exit out and as soon as the bay door closes, Zander leaps with excitement doing a fist pump, "Heck yeah! I'm on a mission with Sonic." Once he turned around… The Pilot was also there watching in shame. He clears his throat, "I'll head into the terminal room."

Entering the computer terminal room, he sits down and watches everything going on through the computer monitors. Everything goes smoothly, until Sonic gets a transmission call from H.Q.

As Zander sits in his seat, he also hears the voice. The voice sounded like he was in pain as he gave his warning. At that moment it became clear that something bad was about to happen. Once the voice gave his warning… Sonic completely turns off his communicator as he turns to face the Informant Officer.

Concerned, he mutters, "Hm? Did he turn it off?" He looks at the computer monitor, seeing Sonics communicator is deactivated. He calls out to Sonic, "Umm…Sonic? Can you hear me?" Zander asks but Sonic doesn't answer back. No one was able to contact him anymore. He can barely hear what Sonic is saying from someone else's communicator. Trying to listen closely, but the only words that he can understand were, "damn" and "shot her".

His eyes go to the Informant Officer, as he goes for his gun and aims it at Sonic pulling the trigger. In a blink of an eye, as if the monitor glitches, Sonic easily avoided the bullet and retaliate with a right hook to the Informants face.

Watching the fight happening on the monitors, he tries to get someone to respond back, "Wha? What's going on? Why are they fighting? C-Can anyone hear me?"

"I can," one of the soldiers answered.

"We don't know why they're fighting," another one answers.

"What do we do?" one of the soldiers asks and then one by one each of them start talking. "Should we help Officer Colbort?" "I don't know." "We're trying to… Is Officer Colbort really ordering us to shoot at Sonic?" "I'm not fucking shooting Sonic," another one argues back. "We can't just disobey an order." After that response, multiple soldiers start talking all at once.

Zander stands up from his seat knocking it over. "NO! D- Don't. Don't shoot. You'll damage whatever's in there. Just, um… just let them fight it out," Zander says thinking of the right words to say.

The Pilot enters the room pointing to his communicator able to hear the commotion going on. He asks in disbelief, "Are you kidding me with this? How the heck are we going to go back to base, knowing that we fucking killed Sonic?"

Zander looks at the microphone and remembers what Zeke said to him. 'It's your turn. Make sure he comes back in one piece.'

Determined, Zander grabs the mic. "You want an order to follow? FINE! I'LL GIVE YOU AN ORDER! DO NOT FIRE! I REPEAT! DO NOT FIRE! DOES EVERYONE HEAR ME? DO NOT FIRE!" he shouts ordering.

"I SAID FUCKING SHOOT HIM!" the Informant Officer orders them again.

"We've been ordered not to sir," one of the soldiers says as he and the rest back off.

"What? WHO MADE THAT ORDER?" he shouts at them. The Officer then looks around trying to find Sonic but Sonic moves so fast that he can barely see him.

"No one's going to help you," Sonic's voice echoes all around the Officer. Sonic threatens, "This is the last time I'm going to ask you; Why did you shoot her?"

Gun held tight, he confesses, "Rookie, THAT'S WHY! He wasn't supposed to survive the prison raid but he did. Ms. Rose was the right catalyst to get you to do the job and it almost-"

Sonic rushes in and punches him so hard in the face that it knocks him off his feet. Landing on the floor he raises the gun only for it to be kicked away.

Sonic stands over him as he looks at his blood stained white glove. He tries not to lose control over himself in wanting so much to beat him into a bloody pulp on the floor after confessing about Amy.

The soldiers, everyone at H.Q., and Zander watch as he quietly says, "Don't… don't… just don't."

Finally calming down, Sonic then asks while cracking his knuckles, "Next question. What are you hiding here that you needed to come for?"

"A device that will stop Infinite," he answers.

Zander, upon overhearing the conversation, instructs the other Soldiers to look for the device while Sonic interrogates him.

"So you KNEW how to stop him?" Sonic grabs him by the collar and brings his fist back. "HOW?"

The Officer brings his hands up to not get hit. "It's a device that can counteract Infinite and stop his powers to the point that it makes him fade away."

He lets him go. "Chris knew about this device and you wanted to kill him?"

"No, he came too close to Infinite. Knowing him, he heard the voices on how to stop him."

"How do you know all of this?"

He looks at Sonic and answers, "I'm one of the scientists here."

"One of the scientists? Then what happened to the rest of the scientists from here?"

"They perished in the prison raid. They were group six, trying to get the device that was located there," he confesses.

Putting it all together Sonic realizes, "So you were worried that with Chris coming here, he would find it and end Infinite with it." A soldier approaches Sonic and hands him the device. With the device in his hand, Sonic knew he needed to find Chris and hand it over to him.

Part 18: The Beginning of the End

Arriving back at the Resistance Base, Sonic exits out of the aircraft and sees Knuckles waiting for him. Sonic approaches him and asks, "Where is he?"

Knuckles points. "He's in one of the holding cells for questioning."

They both turn back to the aircraft as they watch Colbort being taken away. "We saw and heard everything. We'll deal with him later once this is all over," Knuckles says.

"Get everyone to H.Q. I'll be there in a bit with Chris. I have to go talk to him," Sonic says walking away.

"Alright but can you do me one favor?"

Sonic turns back and asks, "What's that?"

Knuckles says back with a smirk, "Please fight, so I can break it up myself."

Continuing on his way, Sonic walks into the prison building and heads straight to Chris's cell. He opens his cell, but turned out empty. "Where is he?" He looks around for anyone to get any answers and heads back towards the exit, but before hitting the sensor to open the door, it already opens up by itself.

Rewind Back to the Resistance Hospital, Amy's Room…

Thinking about the name Tails, he puts one and one together. He asks, "You said Tails. Who's that?"

Amy leans back in her bed and begins to answer. "That's his name. Your smart friend. He's Sonic's best friend…" She slightly shakes her head. "No… they're basically like brothers. They've been friends since they were young. Together they're known as Sonic and Tails. He's also a friend to all of us."

"That explains why he acts so weird when I talk to him about the past. I knew something was wrong but he never wants to talk about it and just walks away. What happened?"

She goes on to explain, "He went missing ever since what happened to Sonic months ago. He's gone into hiding, always blaming himself for what happened. Everyone here misses him, especially Sonic. My request is for you to bring him back. Please make that happen."

Chris nods. "Alright, I'll tell him when I see him. Try to convince him to come back..." He gets up to leave. "You take care, and thanks for letting me know about him."

"Be careful out there," she warns him as she goes back to rest.

Exiting out, Trish was still in the hallway waiting for him. He looks at her ashamed at what he said to her. "Thanks for doing this… and I'm sorry about what I said Ms.-"

"DON'T call me that and it's alright. You've just been through a lot. We all have. I always knew you didn't do it and I'm glad to see that you're okay," she smiles at him.

She leads him back to his holding cell and as the door opens to the prison building, Sonic is on the other side of it. He crosses his arms. "Long time no see. We need to talk."

"Does it involve punching in my face? 'Cause I've had enough of that," Chris quips back.

Sonic sighs ashamed, "Sorry, alright? I just wasn't thinking and I got angry… I'm not the most reasonable person to deal with, and heck… you were hitting me back just as hard."

Still hand-cuffed, he manages to cross his arms. "All defensive shots, no intent to kill… unlike you."

Once Chris responds back as they both glare at each other, Sonic quickly asks, "You want to go another round?"

Chris quickly says back angrily, "Soon as I get my shoes back, then it's on."

"Fine with-"

"Boys, pleeease focus," Trish intervenes, annoyed, watching them go on and on back and forth.

"Here," Sonic says as he hands over the device to Chris. "You remember what this is?"

"This is what Group Six was looking for in the prison raid. What does…" The device lights up and activates in his hands. Chris looks at it confused. "Uhh, I think it likes me?"

Sonic points at it. "This has something to do with you. C'mon, we need to talk about this at H.Q."

"Can you take these cuffs off? Jewelry isn't my thing," Chris requests walking with Sonic to H.Q.

"They look good on you. Oh, and one thing… here's a tip about sneaking around. Smashing through windows and slamming doors is a bad idea."

"Yeah, yeah. Duly noted."

Meanwhile, on Miles's flight back to his place, he notices all the robots acting weird and all heading in one direction. "That's new. Thousands of them. No, even more than that. They're headed towards… the Resistance Base? Where is Chris? Why? Was it because of the purple particles?" He looks around some more and notices every power generator going into overdrive. "Why? That file that mentioned them… This is bad. Need to get back to my place, fast."

At the Resistance Base H.Q.…

"Got him here," Sonic says as he walks into the building with Chris. Everyone looks at Chris holding onto the now glowing device.

"What do you know about Infinite and how to destroy him?" Knuckles asks, looking at Chris.

"It has to do with those purple particles floating around. I hear voices coming out of them. I finally touched one but it wasn't enough to keep me inside for long…-" He sees his shoes on a desk. "…but it was enough to tell me something." As he's explains, he grabs his shoes and puts them on.

"I have to go into it and destroy it from the inside. Doing that will make Infinite go away," Chris informs them all.

"A voice? Why would the voice say that?" Silver asks, confused by it.

"Because Infinite doesn't belong here. Him being here ruins our world, throwing it off balance. That's why," Chris answers while looking at the device in his hand.

"That explains the red sky," Sonic mentions.

"That device should do it?" Silver asks, pointing at it.

"Pretty much. That's as much as I know," Chris answers, looking at everyone.

While everyone talks to each other trying to figure something out, Sonic gets closer to Chris and stands next to him to quietly ask, "Question?"

"Possible answer," he whispers back.

He nervously asks, "Back at the labs… when you said about me… loving… Amy. How? …How did you know about that?"

Thinking about it for a bit, he remembers. He smiles and looks at him and says, "I found out via your-" An alarm blares out, muffling his answer, "-best friend."

"Wha? …Didn't hear you," Sonic says back looking at him.

Alarms echo loudly everywhere with red flashing lights. "What's going on?" Knuckles asks.

One of the resistance soldiers alerts, "One of the security outposts has been taken out… ANOTHER ONE!"

"Pull up the last image," Silver quickly says looking at the big screen.

An image shows up and it shows thousands of robots heading in their direction towards the base.

Everyone stands there in silence as the alarms blare. They look at the image on the screen. Some people get up and leave the building in panic.

As everyone gets distracted by the alert sounds echoing around the H.Q. building, Chris looks over to Trish.

Looking at the image, Trish glances over to Chris as he waves goodbye to her and blurs out of sight. Surprised by it, she starts looking around, she then notices a door open by itself.

"Good luck," she whispers.

"EVERYONE CALM DOWN! WE NEED TO GET READY! WE'RE BEING ATTACKED!" Knuckles shouts.

"Umm… guys?" Sonic says.

"WHAT?" Knuckles asks.

"He's gone," Sonic answers, looking at the spot where Chris once stood, now replaced by handcuffs.

Outside the Training field, red lights and alerts sound off. Zeke and Zander stand around as people run off to hide.

"Zander, what the fuck is going on? You know more about alerts."

"If I'm right… and I hope I'm wrong… I think we're under attack," Zander answers as he looks around for Trish, trying to stay calm. Unable to find her, he turns back to Zeke. "What are you-" but it was too late to ask, as Zeke was already running off towards the hanger area. Zander stood there thinking about what to do. He searches around for Trish again but then stops. He nods and looks back over to the Hangar Area.

Eddie and Edward remain close to each other; they watch as everyone around runs in a panic.

"Sir, what's going on?" POS asks, worried.

Barnett knew exactly what the alert sound was. He remembered the first time he heard it half a year ago. The moment it all happened. "We're under attack," he answers. He turns to his recruits and warns, "War is at our doorstep. Go get everything ready and prepare to head out."

Chris runs back to Miles' base, hoping he's okay. Once getting there, he quickly hides, seeing the place swarmed by robots. Looking around he doesn't see Miles' plane around.

"Damn… Where are you, Miles?" Chris mutters.

"Right behind you," Miles responds from behind startling Chris. "Robots are attacking. Hundreds of thousands of them."

Chris shows him the device, "It might be because of this. You need to test some things on it, find out what it has to do with the particles."

Miles looks at all the robots. "But with the place overrun by-"

"Don't worry. I'll deal with them," Chris interrupts him, tossing him the device. "You do what you have to do. Sounds like a plan?" Chris says with his fist out.

Miles looks at his fist. "Sounds good. Let's do this," he says, slightly raising his fist up to it, but then walks away from it instead.

Chris looks at his fist, and nods to it with a smirk, "Almost."

With dozens of robots roaming around Miles's Base, one of the robots sensors activates causing it to look over to the gun rack. With a quick scan, the only gun that was present is a shotgun.

Looking away and before taking another step, it sensors activate once again, over to the gun rack. With another scan… the shotgun was now missing.

And without warning, a thunderous blast from its behind, as the robots innards go bursting being scattered in all directions.

Every robot nearby take notice, as one by one every robot suffer the same fate.

Miles rushes into the building and quickly performs tests on the device hearing shotgun blast after shotgun blast.

"HOW LONG!" Chris shouts, grabbing a riffle and begins to fire it.

"Couple of hours."

"WHAT? ARE YOU-" The sound of the gun shots drowns out his complaints.

"Done," Miles says.

Chris rolls his eyes, forgetting who he's dealing with; he heads into the building. "Let's get out of here now. They're going to be on us in a minute-" Chris stops talking as Miles simply looks at him. "What?" Chris asks knowing there's bad news.

"It's hard to say," Miles says, holding onto the device while looking at it.

Chris waves in front of his face to get his attention. "What… Is… IT?" he asks, concerned.

"I… had to read the files again about the generators and I figured out why it kept getting referenced over and over again." He points out the window at one of them. "Those generators are what's scattering the particles all over the place. They need to be stopped or destroyed so this device can stop pulling the particles apart. The particles would then go to another generator and so forth. Once enough generators are destroyed, it will gather all the particles to one spot making one big portal where Infinite came from," Miles explains, still looking at the device.

Chris points at it in his hands. "And with the device… Go inside of it and cut the connection, destroying Infinite out here?

Miles, still holding the device, looks at it. "That should happen… I'll basically be cutting Infinite's connection to this place making him fade away… but… doing that will destroy me too. Once you go in, you'll become just what Infinite is also. A part of whatever is on the other side of that sphere."

Chris stands there watching Miles and then looks out of the window at the Resistance base. Thinking about what Amy said. "Umm… you should put that down and think of a different plan. There has to be another way," Chris says, hoping to convince him.

"Right… right. There has to be," Miles puts it down. "Mayyybe if I wear a suit, or… reconfigure the…" He looks back at the table where he put the device. "Huh? It's gone…? What?" He looks up and quickly all around notices that he's alone. "Chris?" He wasn't in the room. "No… no… CHRIS!" Miles runs outside. "CHRIS!" Miles shouts out for him but Chris is long gone.
