Forces: Chasing Memories is the 2nd set of chapters. After the dust has settled after the battle with Infinite, everything should've went back to normal, but unfortunately it didn't. Not for a two tailed fox. Unable to come to terms for what Chris has done for his sacrifice, but what if there was a way to bring him back? Luckily for there is, but at what cost?

Chapter 3: BOA
Sitting in the truck still, Wally pulls out his phone to call Molly but she doesn't answer - no ring tone. "Dammit, nothing's getting through."
He slowly drives into town, being careful not to get noticed seeing one of the black SUV's down the road. "Being in this truck is a bad idea," he mutters.
Knowing what intersection street he's on, he looks over to the left in the direction of Randy's shop. "Got to check up on Randy." He looks to the right. "I'm pretty sure Sonic ran off to the right." Making a left turn, he reaches Randy's shop and decides to go around the back instead. Getting out of the truck, he quietly approaches the back door. He goes to the door knob and turns it…
Rewind…
Peanut's pursuer storms out of the alleyway upset, as a black S.U.V. pulls up for him to enter. The side door slides open allowing him to step inside. Once he enters, he then slams it shut.
Inside the vehicle there were three soldiers that remained silent not to make him angrier. Each one of them also wore a black metallic mask that represented what kind of animal they were.
He then demands, "Miller, any leads?"
The young, adult ferret sitting on the passenger seat answers while tapping away on a laptop, "Nothing as of yet, Leader. This tracker is a pain to pin down."
He then growls under his skull mask, "Am I hearing an excuse coming out of you?"
Miller frantically shakes his head. "Nuh-no, it's umm… whoever designed it… really knows their stuff."
"Is Craig still out by the jammer?" Leader asks again.
"Yes, he was last sighted at the tower."
"Did he change back into his uniform?"
Miller sighs, "No… he's still in his civilian apparel."
Leader clenches his fist. "How many times do I have to-"
Miller puts his hand on his headset. "Wait… we have a lead."
"Where?" Leader orders.
"Location is a hardware shop. RHD… an acronym meaning: Randy's Hardware Deliveries."
He laughs and orders the driver wearing a black hyena mask, "Alright, Curtis, get us there and I'll do the talking." He un-holsters his gun, making sure it's loaded.
After arriving, he exits out and points to the one that was sitting next to him. "You come with me, and both of you keep trying to find that damn kid."
Just as he's about to slam the door on them, Miller raises a hand again, informing, "Wait, wait, wait… Another source came in… Some chick's house… all the way west from here. Her name's Molly Fowler."
Leader turns to the hardware store and then looks back, hitting the top of the car. "You two head on over there and contact Levi. He should be close to that spot, and tell 'em to head over there. AND AGAIN… if you find the kid… what is it that you don't do?"
Miller answers, "Don't look into his-"
"Don't worry about it." The driver quickly says, cutting Miller off. "I'll deal with the fucking kid. You got nothing to worry about."
"Good." Leader slams the door making them drive away. He walks towards the hardware store entrance, entering it, gun in hand.
Fast Forward…
Wally stands in the back entryway looking at the mess on the floor.
Nearly everything is almost destroyed. He looks around, crouching, making his way to the main room. "Randy? Are you here? Randy?"
A low, raspy voice can be heard from somewhere in the room, "Over… here. Gah!"
Wally quickly pushes things out of the way to get to his voice. He sees Randy beaten to an unrecognizable sight on the floor with his hand reaching out. "No… No. You're going to be okay." Wally grabs Randy's hand, but notices Randy's other hand was over his chest. Wally grabs his other hand and moves it, uncovering two bullet wounds in his chest. He lowers his head trying not to cry. "No… no."
Randy whispers, "Didn't… say anything… Molly's safe."
"Stop talking. Just… just…" He grabs his phone again to call for help, but it refused to work. "Just hang in there."
Wheezing his words, "Bullshit. Just… go. Leave this… place. Careful… out there and don't do anything stupid."
Hearing those words as he looked at Randy, the pressure within Wally's head slowly increases till it became unbearable.
"AHhgrrah!" He grabs his head in pain, as a memory of a Drill Sergeant looking at him enters his mind, saying those words. Once the pain stops, he looks at Randy remaining motionless on the floor with his eyes closed.
He slowly stands back up, holding his anger and grief at bay, still looking down to Randy. One of the black S.U.V.'s drives by, but Wally remains where he is, still looking downward. For him it felt like the longest seconds of his life, but he had to leave. He turns around and heads to the back exit, trying not to break down.
Exiting out, Wally slowly heads to the truck as sounds of gunfire and explosions can be heard in the distance.
Reaching the truck, he opens it and puts one foot into it and before stepping into it. He looks over at the hardware shop's back exit. He looks away and steps into the truck, closing the door and just remains seated doing nothing. Once he grips the steering wheel, he yells out in anger as his grief is muffled from within the cabin of the truck.
Taking a deep breath and wiping his tears away, he turns on the truck and drives off in search for Molly and Peanut.
Rewind…
As Miller contacts Levi while being driven, Curtis, the driver grabs onto his hyena mask, removing it and tosses it onto the dash board.
Miller looks over to Curtis, seeing light-brown fur with black spots on his frustrated face. He looks at Curtis' mask on the dash board, then right back reminding him. "Leader going to be mad when he sees you-"
"I don't give a fuck. It doesn't fit on my face." He looks over to Miller seeing him on his laptop and rudely asks, "Did you get in contact with Levi?"
"He speaks back in morse code. You have any idea how long it takes to figure that shit out? So yeah, he should-"
Another car pulls up in front of them out of nowhere, scaring Curtis, making him almost lose control of the vehicle. "SON OF A BITCH!"
"There he is," Miller points out.
He growls, losing his temper, "I should fucking ram them."
While looking down messing with his laptop, he quickly advises, "Don't." He glances up and looks to the side of the road as a figure passes by close to the car. "We're almost there and you almost hit that person."
Fully focused on only catching up with Levi, he responds back in an uncaring manner, "Foxes are only meant to be roadkill."
Hearing his response, Miller takes his eyes off of the laptop and looks over to Curtis. "You feel the same way about Craig?"
Curtis gives a slight shake, "Craig's never been the same ever since Chris left."
After making a couple of turns, they stop in front of the house, but Curtis doesn't even bother getting out. He leans back in his seat and stretches, watching the BOA Soldiers exit out of their vehicle and head towards the house.
"You're not going to go help?"
"Nope. Levi's a big boy. He can take care of himself. Plus, he's good with the ladies," he answers while looking at a colossal 7'3 28-year-old Rottweiler, built with solid muscle, towering over the other two BOA soldiers.
They watch Levi stomp his way to the front door, as the two soldiers get out of the way. Once reaching the front door, he delivers a solid boot to it causing the whole house to tremble sending the door flying into the house.
They both mutter wearily to each other, "Damn…" as they see the other two soldiers enter first with their rifles drawn.
Curtis sees Levi enter the house last. "To be booted like that sends shivers down my spine."
"Think anyone can survive it?" Miller adds.
"Unless you want to end up being a vegetable, you're better off being dead."
"You should go… ya know, just in case. We kinda need her alive," Miller suggests.
Curtis leans back on his seat shutting his eyes, "You're confusing me for someone who cares."
Becoming anxious, Miller asks again, "I'm serious." He looks at the house. "What if we can't find the kid? We're going to need her-" Gunfire can be heard from inside the house. "What the…?"
Curtis leans up from his seat and looks at the house as Miller asks concerned, "Good with the ladies… right?"
Suddenly, one of the BOA's gets kicked out of a window and onto the front lawn.
"Oh shit?" Miller says looking as the soldier slowly gets back up… then a piece of furniture flies out of the window knocking him out. "What's going on in there?"
Curtis opens the car door and cautiously exits out… then hides, hearing more gunfire. "What the-" A car exits out of the garage and speeds down the road. He quickly gets back into the car as the other S.U.V. gives chase. Curtis quickly follows trying not to lose them.
"A big boy… right?" Miller remarks.
"No shit. What the fuck just happened back there?" Curtis snaps back baffled about Levi.
Speeding down the road, finally catching up to them as they drive through the town, Miller notices someone step out of the alleyway. "Huh? Wait…" He looks back. "OH SHIT! IT'S THE KID! GO BACK!"
Curtis agrees, turning the car around. "Fine by me. Let those guys deal with that crazy Kung-Fu chick." He turns into the alleyway, seeing the kid running down it. He grins as he gets closer and closer to him.
As Miller sees the kid run, he looks over to Curtis grinning menacingly. Miller quickly scolds him, snapping him out of his violent tendency, "HEY… WATCH IT! Alive, remember?"
Exiting out of the alleyway at high speed, Curtis catches up to the kid. Driving alongside next to him, Curtis glances over to his side and opens the door, 'thud!' smacking the kid off his feet. He slams on the brakes and quickly exits out. He storms up to the kid while he's still on the floor. The kid raises his hands up to plea but gets punched in the face.
"What the fuck?" Miller says angrily, stepping out.
Curtis points over to Miller. "Shut up! He asked for it." He reaches down and grabs the kid by the shirt to stand up. "GET UP!" He then pats his pockets feeling the kids phone. He pulls it out and smashes it on the sidewalk in front of him. He then pushes him to the car. "NOW MOVE!"
Stumbling forward, the kid stops getting close to the car and looks directly at Miller.
"Shit!" he looks away, avoiding to make eye contact.
The kid then turns to look at Curtis instead.
Curtis takes a step forward clenching his fist. "Oh, so you want me to kick your ass? Alright."
"Get in the car kid. We need you unharmed… right?" Miller says covering his eyes, having to remind Curtis again.
"Pfft, at least alive. That's what 'I' was told." He looks down at the kids eyes. "No one said anything about being unconscious." He clenches his fist and pulls his arm back to strike again… but he gets tackled from behind and face plants onto the sidewalk. "GAH! What the-" His hair gets grabbed and his head is bashed into the cement, getting knocked out.
Miller couldn't believe what he just saw, standing there. Seeing what one of Sonic's friends just did.
Rewind…
Tails walks down the road, following his tracker, hoping that it would give him a clue if he's even going the right way. "Geez, maybe if I adjust the frequency I could narrow down the radius? …Nope, that's making it worse." Taking another step forward, two S.U.V.'s come speeding by as one of them nearly hits him. "WOAH!" He quickly hops back from it. "What was that all about?" he asks, watching them head down the road.
'I wonder where they're going in such a hurry.' He turns to look at the town and sees another S.U.V. driving around suspiciously. Checking down the road to the right, he sees another S.U.V. doing the exact same thing. The more he looks around, more of the exact same car he sees. 'Are they looking for something?'
Turning back to the other two that went by him, he sees them make a quick left turn. Curiosity striking him hard, it quickly dawns on him. 'No… they're looking for someone. 'He looks back to the house he started at with concern. "She does know!"
Running as fast as he can, he takes flight, going over houses, trying to get there before they do. 'Why did she lie to me? Why?' Landing in front of the house, he rushes to the front door. "Please don't be locked." Grabbing the doorknob and hoping that it's unlocked. He turns it and opens it, entering the house.
"MA'AM? ARE YOU HERE?" He closes the door and locks it. "MA'AM?" He yells, entering the living room.
From her bedroom, she runs into the living room wearing her gaming headset startled from his voice, "WHAT? Wha… you… you again? Why are you-"
"Please listen. You're in danger. We have to get out of here now," Tails tries to explain back.
"I'm not going anywhere with you until you tell-"
"THERE'S NO TIME FOR THAT! WE NEED TO GO-" Two S.U.V.'s pull up in front of the house making them both look at it. One of the doors opens from the vehicle as three of the BOA Soldiers exit out. He looks back to her while pointing at them. "Want to talk to them instead? I'm pretty sure they're not here for a conversation."
She grabs her car keys. "I'll head to my car."
Seeing that they have automatic rifles, he knows escaping by car was a terrible idea. He shouts to her. "DON'T EXIT OUT JUST YET UNTIL I TELL YOU TO!"
He looks at the soldiers thinking to himself. 'I have to take them out first. Then we might be able to make it away safely, but I don't have anything to defend myself with. I didn't bring any gadgets with me.' He sees a baseball bat resting near a bookcase. 'That'll do perfectly.' He grabs ahold of it and heads to the hallway that leads to the garage then hides near the entrance to the living room.
With his back up against the wall and in a terrifying instant what felt like a thunderous explosion that shook the foundation of the house, the front door was sent flying off its hinges, slamming onto the floor.
'Wha-what was that?' He hears their footsteps enter the house.
Assault rifles in hand, they slowly make their way into the house, examining the living room. "Room clear," one of them informs. All three begin to split off to other parts of the house looking for them.
Remaining still and silent in the hallway near the Livingroom entrance, he hears the car starts up from the garage. 'Uh oh. I hope they didn't-'
"Hey, anyone hear that?" one of them asks and enters the hallway with assault rifle drawn. He slowly walks past Tails, focused on the open garage door, not noticing him.
Seeing no one was behind the soldier, Tails tightly grips the bat and waits patiently till he gets closer to the garage entrance. Once close enough, he bashes the soldier in the back of the head, making a loud crack, sending the soldier into a daze, making him drop his rifle near the doorway.
Before he can utter a warning, Tails swings again, 'twack!' hitting him in the side of the head knocking him out. Tails quickly grabs his body and tosses him into the laundry room, closing the door.
Slowly making his way back into the living room passing through the door way, another soldier exits out backwards from another room, right alongside next to him.
The soldier stops and stands right next to Tails muttering, "Someone's playing KnightFort?" he then announces, "Hey guys. I think I found… his… room?" spotting Tails right next to him, he swings his gun to aim-
But Tails quickly swings back, smacking the gun as it fires off a full clip into the wall.
Tails then swings again, but the soldier dodges and aims once again. He pulls the trigger firing nothing. "SHIT!" he shouts and grabs his rifle by the nozzle, ready to use it as a weapon instead.
Trying to hit each other, Tails dodges under a swing as it flies over his head. He swings back low, hitting the soldier in the kneecap, causing him to go down on one knee. Tails then quickly rises up with both hands on the bat and swings again, hitting the soldier on the side of the face, making his face mask fly off.
In a daze, the soldier awkwardly lunges forward tackling Tails making him lose the bat, as they both go flying over the couch and onto a coffee table making it explode into shards of glass.
Tails closes his eyes from the impact. Opening his eyes, only to be shocked to see the soldier on top of him… with his rifle above his head about to bring it down onto him.
Tails tilts his head to the side as the hilt of the rifle slams onto the floor, mere centimeters from hitting his head. Tails then kicks him in the groin.
"GAH! YOU F-"
Tails punches him in the throat, causing the soldier to drop his rifle and to back off slightly as he holds onto his neck. Tails quickly positions his legs, and forces the soldier off and sends him staggering back.
The soldier collides with the main window, making it crack.
Getting up to his feet, Tails rushes towards the soldier doing a jump kick, sending him flying out the window and onto the front lawn.
The soldier slowly gets up to his feet holding his head. "Son of a-" A piece of the broken glass from the coffee table comes flying from the living room, knocking him out.
Tails tries to relax, taking deep breaths as he looks out of the broken window. He then realizes, "Wait, wasn't there-" He hears heavy footsteps enter the living room. He looks at the kitchen entrance, "Three of them? Yup."
As the huge soldier stomps to Tails, as he grabs the couch with one hand and tosses it to the side, slamming it against the wall. He stands there looking down at Tails while cracking his knuckles.
Tails checks the soldier's name tag and then looks up at the muscle-bound masked Rottweiler. "Levi huh? You can run away if you want. I promise not to tell anyone."
Levi lets a deep muffled laugh and pulls back his arm releasing a massive right hook.
Tails dodges away from it, giving him a chance to counter with a punch right back to his face. He then backs away, shaking his hand. "Wow, it's like punching something rock solid."
Levi laughs and tries to grab him, but Tails squirms away and throws yet another punch. Unfortunately… it winds up getting grabbed. With Tails's arm grabbed, Levi raises his arm up high lifting Tails off the floor.
Tails begins to kick frantically at any part of Levi's body until one of his legs gets grabbed also.
"Gah… nuh, no!" Tails shouts, trying to break free as he's raised into to the air.
And with all his might, Levi hurls him to the nearest wall, knocking the wind out of Tails from the force of it. Anything that was hanging on the wall comes crashing onto the floor.
Tails struggles to get up on his feet, as he hears stomps coming his way. He raises his arms high to protect his face, but a massive size-sixteen boot collides with his chest instead, sending him back down the hallway not before colliding with the side of the entryway with his shoulder first.
Tails lands onto his back, then proceeds to roll onto his head and then onto his back again. He lies there clutching onto his chest, gasping for air. "Gah!" '…I- I… I literally felt… my heart stop.'
He hears heavy footsteps enter the hallway.
With a glance, he sees Levi walking to him with the baseball bat in hand. Try as he might to get back up to his feet, the pain in his chest and shoulder made it difficult for him to stand. Instead, he tries to crawl away. With another look he sees…
Levi raises the bat over his head, about to swing when the sound of gunfire echoes in the hallway, soaring over Tails as it penetrates Levi's chest.
Turning to the entrance of the garage, it was Molly firing the assault rifle that was lying in the hallway. She had a look of utter disbelief on her face from what she just did.
Levi drops the bat, hunched over in pain as he clutches his chest from the shots.
The bat rolls to Tails; he grabs ahold of it and uses it to get to his feet. Once up, he swings it sideways, connecting it to the side of Levi's head causing him to lose his balance. Falling to one knee, Tails then bashes him over the head, breaking the bat and knocking him out.
Dropping the broken end of the bat, Tails leans up against the wall to support himself holding onto his chest.
Molly drops the rifle and grabs ahold of him to help him down the hallway. "C'mon, let's get out of here," she says. They both get into the car, speeding off as both of the S.U.V.'s give chase.
Inside the car she says in a panic, trying to process what she just did, "I shot him… I shot… Can't believe that I…"
Tails tries to calm her down as he clutches onto his chest in pain. "It's okay… he's-"
"I JUST SHOT SOMEONE!" she shouts, unable to calm down.
"He's not dead. He was wearing a protected vest. All you did is just hurt him."
"What do they want from me?"
Hearing her question, Tails gets angry with her. "NO! Better question is, WHY did you lie to me in the first place about Chris?"
She shouts at him in a panic, "I DON'T KNOW WHO THAT-"
"YES YOU DO!" Tails shouts back, going through his pouch, taking out a picture and shows it to her. "That's him. WHERE IS HE?"
She looks at it over and over, trying not to take her eyes off the road, understanding everything now. "So that's his name… his actual real name. He is with me. I found him alone one night about six months ago. He was-" Speeding down the streets she glances over to the side and spots Peanut alone in the alleyway. "What? THAT WAS… THAT WAS-" She looks at the rearview mirror, seeing one of the S.U.V.'s stop and head back to the alleyway. "NO!"
"What is it? What did you see?" Tails asked, looking back, trying to see what she saw.
"It's a friend of ours and they're chasing him. I have to-" She hears the window open as Tails begins to make his way out of it.
Tails quickly advises her, "Head to the Resistance safe zone. They'll help you out. I'll go help your friend." He climbs onto the roof and then flies off.
At the Resistance Safe Zone, soldiers hold the line trying to get as many civilians as they can to safety. One of them shouts, "HEY! SOMEONE'S BEING CHASED!"
The Commander of the Resistance looks through his binoculars to watch. "YOU'RE RIGHT! MEN! GET READY TO FIRE!" Dozens of soldiers line up taking aim ready for orders to shoot. "READY… AIM… FIRE!" A barrage of gunfire whizzed past Molly, hitting the S.U.V. and making it lose control, flipping over and exploding in a ball of fire.
Molly quickly hits the brakes, almost reaching them. Breathing heavily, she turns back to look at the destroyed vehicle. She then turns and looks at the Commander of the Resistance.
"What's she doing? C'MON!" he shouts and waves at her. He sees her shake her head and turns the car around, heading back to town.
Sonic arrives at the Resistance Safe Zone after seeing the explosion of the vehicle. "Are you and everyone safe?"
"Sonic, I'm glad to see you, but we're barely hanging in there. More and more of them keep coming and each time one of our men gets injured. We can't keep going on like this trying to hold this area."
"Nothing's getting through Sir, we can't get in touch with anyone to send reinforcements. We're on our own," one of the soldiers informs.
"HEADS UP! MORE OF THEM INCOMING!" someone alerts as five more vehicles appear with more BOA soldiers exiting out getting ready to storm the safe zone.
Sonic and the Commander watch the BOA line up. The Commander looks at Sonic. "Sonic, I know you want to go into town, but without you here right now, it will be the end of us and everyone here."
Sonic nods. "I'll stay here and keep you all safe." He walks towards the enemy vehicles.
Rewind…
Venturing back into town, Peanut was still hiding in the alleyway. He slowly approaches the sidewalk to see if it's safe. "It looks… okay." He looks to the left, remembering where Sonic and Tails landed. "If I can get to that plane I'll be safe… right?" Once he steps out, he hears a car racing down the street. He quickly jumps back into the alleyway to try to hide as the car races by. "That was… yeah. That was Molly." Taking one step forward, two of the S.U.V.'s quickly drive by, scaring him back into the alleyway. "Shit." Looking around the corner seeing the chase, he mumbles, "I hope they didn't-"
One of the S.U.V.'s stops and quickly turns around heading right back towards him.
"Oh, shit!" running straight back down the alleyway, knocking over containers, and trying to get to the other side, he hears the car motor roar, entering the alleyway chasing him down.
Peanut scampers out and gets onto the sidewalk, running as fast as he could.
The car barrels out of the alleyway, hitting the streets, catching up to him in seconds.
Running as fast as his little legs can muster… the car drives alongside next to him, opening the door, smacking him down and screeching to a stop.
The driver quickly exits out, growling and storms right to him.
Peanut puts his hands up and pleads, "Puh- please, please don't-"
The driver punches him in the face. "That's what you get for running."
"What the fuck?" the ferret passenger says, exiting out angrily.
"Shut up. He asked for it." The driver reaches and grabs Peanuts shirt to stand up. "GET UP!"
Peanut whimpers thinking, 'No… I'm going to be…' He feels the driver going through his pockets and takes out his phone, then smashes it on the sidewalk in front of him making Peanut jump. 'No… They're going to… take me away… Help…'
The driver pushes him to the car ordering, "NOW MOVE!"
Peanut stumbles forward, quickly coming to a stop refusing to get close to the car. 'I can't… I can't let them…' He looks up at the ferret soldier as he quickly diverts his eyes away.
He then turns around and faces the hyena soldier instead looking into his menacing eyes.
The hyena soldier takes a step forward, clenching his fist, "Oh, so you want me to kick your ass? Alright."
"Get in the car kid. We need you unharmed… right?" said the ferret passenger covering his eyes, having to remind the hyena soldier.
"Pfft, at least alive. That's what 'I' was told." He looks down at Peanuts eyes finishing with, "No one said anything about being unconscious."
Peanut stares up at the cruel soldier, pulling his arm back, to punch him again…
But Peanut looks up even higher… he sees Tails flying right at the soldier, elbow first, tackling the hyena soldier onto the pavement face first.
"GAH! What the-" His hair gets grabbed by Tails and smashes his head into the sidewalk, knocking the soldier out.
The other soldier was in shock with what just happened, and shakes his head saying, "That's a nope from me." He quickly goes back into the car, as the locks are heard being set.
Peanut was excited to see Tails. "That was awesome, thanks."
Tails stands up holding his side. "No problem. Let's get out of here."
Watching them both walk away, Miller remains locked in the car until Tails was far away. "Yeah… you better walk away. Lucky I don't have my rifle with me. I'll pin your ass down so fucking hard."
Once far enough away, the door to the car opens, Miller cautiously steps out. Eyes still set on Tails, he walks up to Curtis tapping him on the head. "Wakey, wakey."
Curtis rolls onto his back, rubbing his head. "Did you… get him?"
"Naw, he… uhh… kicked my ass too," Miller says, looking back to Tails walking away with their target.
Miller tries to help him up to his feet, but then Curtis pushes him away. Curtis put his hand to his head, staggering to the car while getting into it. Miller gets in also and tries not to laugh at him.
Curtis just sits in the driver seat with a hand over his head, trying to make the pain go away.
Miller grabs Curtis' face mask on the dash board and tries to hand it to him. "We don't have time to-"
With just his fingers, Curtis flips him off then tells him to shut up.
Someone pounds on top of the car from outside, startling them both. They quickly turn to check only to see their intimidating Leader staring right back at them under his skull mask along with the BOA soldier.
Leader eyes them both from outside, and then looks at Curtis without his hyena face mask on, knowing he got his ass kicked. He opens the door and gets inside. Once sitting behind Miller, he extends his hand out to Miller and orders while growling, "Hand it over."
Worried, Miller looks at what he's holding onto and hands over Curtis face mask over to Leader.
Leader grabs ahold of it… then throws it at Curtis while demanding, "Fucking put it on!"
Curtis puts it on, wincing from the pain as it barely fits on him. "Sorry… Leader."
After hearing Curtis' apology, he then orders, "Drive to the Resistance Safe Zone. The kid or that chick is hiding there. One way or another we're getting one of them."
Tails and Peanut run down multiple blocks as they reach the Tornado. Tails slowly comes to a stop looking at it almost completely destroyed. Tails sighs. "Well… now I'm mad."
"Do you know what's going on?" Peanut asks.
"I have a pretty good idea." He looks at his communicator. "Sonic, can you hear me?" Low pitch static returned instead. "Nothing. Nothing's working."
"I heard that it's because there's some kind of jammer screwing with everything. Not even my phone worked."
"A jammer? That makes sense why the tracker was going crazy." Tails pulls out the tracker and starts adjusting it. "If I can hone in on the right frequency… maybe I can… YES! It worked." He turns around to face it. "The jammer is that way. I can't get in touch with Sonic. I'm going to have to do this alone." He looks back to Peanut rubbing his chest and asks, "Do you know somewhere that you can be safe?"
Peanut nods. "I know everything about this town… I know a place.
"You get there and you hide. Alright?"
He nods again. "Alright." Tails flies off as Peanut waves goodbye unaware that a car pulls up behind him. Hearing the car come to a stop, Peanut gets startled and quickly turns around to face it.
The car door opens and Molly steps out asking worriedly, "Are you okay?"
Peanut runs up to her, giving her a hug. "I'm okay. Tails saved me but Wally… they're after him."
"I know… I know," she says back concerned, "We have to get going. Get in the car, we're going back… to… to-" She hears gunfire coming from the Resistance Safe Zone. "Never mind, just get in the car."
They both enter and drive away.
Meanwhile, Wally drives around a residential area. He stops at one of the blocks, seeing groups of people together. He exits out to go check on them, in hope of seeing Molly or Peanut. "Wally, Wally!" He hears his name being called. He looks around and sees that it's Peanut's parents. They approach him, scared, as the mother desperately asks, "H- have you seen Shawn?"
"He's not with you? I'm looking for him too."
"He's still in town," his father says worried.
They look to the town, seeing nearly half of it is on fire.
In desperation, Peanut's dad takes a step forward, "I'm going… I'm-"
Wally tries to calm him down, keeping pace with him. "NO, stop. You know you can't."
"I DON'T CARE! HE'S MY SON!"
Wally quickly gets in his way to calm him down, "Please Mr. Plummer… just stay here, I'll go find him. I have a good idea where he is. Just please stay here."
Peanut's father comes to a stop. He slowly takes a seat, agreeing in concern.
Peanut's mother pleads, "Please Wally. Please find him."
"I will. I promise. Just stay here. He'll show up." Wally walks back to the truck as Peanut's parents look at him. He stops at the truck's door and asks muttering, "Where can he be? He's always the one finding me." He opens the door and gets in. "Where do I go? Where is he?" He turns on the truck and right when he's about to put it into drive, he looks to the sky seeing something unbelievable. "What the… is that someone flying?" Getting a better look he notices that it's a flying two tailed fox.
The more he stares, the more his head begins to hurt again. He grabs his head and hears a voice in his head saying:
'I've never seen a fox with two-tails. What's up with that? Were you raised by a nuclear dump site?'
After the pain goes away, he regains his senses. He looks up again, confused. "Do I know who that is?" he mutters.
He puts the truck into drive and heads to where the two tailed fox was flying too.
Reaching a radio tower, he gets out with a crowbar in hand. He looks at the tower from a distance and sees someone protecting it. "Did he fly this way?" Quietly walking towards it, he also sees someone else hunched low to the ground, also looking at the radio tower. "There he is. He was the one flying." Getting close, Wally stands next to him and before he can say anything-
"It's about time you showed up," the two tailed fox says.
Wally looks around and then down to him asking, "You're here for the radio tower?
The fox's focus completely changes as his ears perk up. He slowly turns to Wally and just stares at him, not saying anything for what felt like an eternity.
Feeling uncomfortable with being stared at, Wally asks, "Are you… okay?" knowing something weird was going on.
The fox just kept staring as the question finally snaps him out of it. "I'm… okay. It's just… things have been crazy today," the fox answers standing up.
Wally turns his attention to the radio tower. "What's with the tower?"
The fox explains, "There's a jammer plugged into it interfering with electrical transmissions." They both see someone wearing average clothing defending it, as he continues, "Do you know who that is?"
Wally shakes his head. "No, never seen him before."
"We'll strike hard and fast making sure we get the drop on him quickly. Sounds good?" The fox clenches his fist, slightly raising it.
"Sounds like a good plan, umm…" 'Kid?...No… he's not a kid.' "Yeah… sounds good." Wally agrees, putting his hand to his head as it slowly hurts, making his way to the tower not noticing the fox's raised fist.
Tails remains behind, lowering his fist. "He's back… but not really back," he mutters.
Wally cautiously approaches, trying to time it right to charge and attack. Soon as the guard stands up from his chair and walks to the base of the tower, Wally gets ready to run. As soon as Wally makes a move, something orange zips right by him tackling the guard to the ground.
"Woah!" Surprised by it, his head slightly hurts as he remembers it happening before. He hears the orange fox's voice say, "I thought all hedgehogs were fast." He shakes his head trying to get his senses back and runs to help, but already he was too late.
Tails ties the guard to a chair with his hands behind his back.
"Ouch. Nice tackle," the adult fox says, squirming in the chair.
Not even saying anything back, Tails quickly rushes to the tower to disarm the jammer.
"Why are you attacking the town?" Wally asks.
The soldier scoffs at the question. "Why? It's because of you. That's why. Trying to stop you before you remember anything."
Tails disarms the device and smashes it on the floor and continues to stomp on it.
"Remember what? What did I do?"
Disappointedly, he looks at Wally and slightly frowns. "You really don't remember me… do you? You really are a blank slate. It's not what you did; it's who you'll become once you remember."
With his frustration at a breaking point, he demands, "Become? What the fuck are you talking about?" Wally raises up the crowbar. "WHO THE FUCK AM I?!"
The soldier just smirks, chuckling at Wally's anger, unfazed by his threat. "There you go, that's who I wanted to see."
Tails walks up to Wally, trying to calm him down, "Don't listen to him. He's just threatening you."
"Threatening? HA! I'm not threatening him." The soldier then shows a hand up with two fingers. "Threatening and preparing are two different things." then goes back to putting his hand behind his back.
Tails looks him over, confused. "Do that again with your hand."
The soldier shakes his head. "Do what with my hand? My hands are tied. If they were I wouldn't be able to-" he quickly un-holsters his gun.
In an instant, Tails's leg whips back, causing him to collapse onto the ground as he holds onto his thigh. "Grrahh!"
"Heh! Wow… Are you kidding me? Did you really just fall for that?" The guard stands up and points the gun to Wally.
Wally brings his hands up, dropping the crowbar.
Walking up to him, the guard says, "You need to get ready for the shit storm coming your way." He takes a good look at Wally. "What do they call you now?"
"It's Wally," he answers.
The guard shoves the gun to his face, angry with his answer. "Well… 'Wal-ly'. Nice to meet you, I'm Craig. But introducing myself to you shouldn't matter. Why? Because you know what happens once you get your memories back? Poof! Say goodbye to Wally and say hello to who you're really supposed to be."
Wally shakes his head. Thinking about the memories he's gotten. "I- I don't believe you."
"Really? I've already seen it happen once." He looks down to Tails on the floor, pointing at him. "ASK HIM! He's the reason why you're even here."
Wally stares down to Tails.
His radio starts up. "Craig? Are you there? Time to retreat, so get the hell out of there."
"Well that's my cue. I would love to tell them that I saw you again, but seeing this reunion between you two is going to make things very interesting." He waves his finger to Tails. "You have no idea how much he wanted you back, after his failed experiment." He backs off pointing the gun at Wally. "See you around Wallace. Don't even try to delay it or even stop it. The inevitable will happen." He walks off.
Wally turns to Tails, trying to stay calm. "Is it true what he said? Once I get my memories back, I'll be… I'll be gone?"
Tails struggles to get up. "I… don't know. Maybe it's true. Maybe it's not."
Wally shakes his head and looks at Tails. "No. I'm really not a fan of fifty-fifty answers." Pressure builds once again.
He grabs his head in pain as a memory enters his mind, seeing Tails and purple particles.
Seeing Wally in pain, Tails asks concerned, "Are you-"
"STAY BACK! Just STAY BACK. Don't… GAH! JUST STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!" Wally staggers away holding onto his head. Reaching and getting into his truck, he speeds down the road.
Tails sits down miserable and contacts Sonic, watching the truck speed away. "Sonic, can you hear me? I found Chris. He ran away from me and I bet he went back home."
Rewind…
Sonic prepares himself to rush forward to the BOA soldiers, speeding off as soldiers begin to fire. Sonic dodges every single bullet shot at him. Once reaching them, he punches and kicks, knocking them out one by one. He jumps and performs a homing attack, going from car to car, destroying turrets, and no bullet was capable of touching him. Explosion after explosion, the Resistance soldiers cheer at a distance, watching it all happen.
Another S.U.V. pulls up and parks at a distance. The door opens as Leader exits out while removing his black skull mask and stares at Sonic. The slim middle-aged Doberman Pinscher stood there, a deep growl coming out of him. He extends his hand out to Miller and demands, "Hand me one of the bullets."
Miller takes his eyes off of his laptop. He looks at him and asks, unsure, "You're going to test it here?"
Leader gives him a glare.
Miller panics and apologizes, "Okay, okay. Sorry." He hands him one of the bullets.
Leader loads it into a rifle and takes aim. "Stay still. This will only hurt a lot." In complete focus, he holds the rifle still as he takes a deep breath, and pulls the trigger.
The bullet whizzes past Sonic, almost hitting him.
"Almost, that nearly hit him," he informs.
"So they need some more adjustment?"
"It's off by 0.700 mm to the right," he answers.
"Hello, hello? The jammer has been taken down. I repeat: The jammer has been taken down - They're calling for reinforcements," someone warns over the radio.
He orders with his hand out, "HAND ME ANOTHER ONE!"
Miller quickly hands over another bullet.
Leader loads it and takes aim once again… but this time the sun's bright reflection was in the way. He snarls in frustration, "Dammit… DAMMIT! He lowers it down then looks directly at the sun. He grips the rifle and aims directly at the sun, firing at it instead. "DAMN!" He gets back into the car as he slams the door.
The BOA soldier tries to calm him down, "Next time you won't miss. You'll get him next time."
Leader, slowly tilts his head narrowing his eyes.
Miller cautiously leans away while covering and protecting his laptop…
While Curtis made sure to turn and look, eager to watch.
From outside and within the S.U.V, a gunshot sounds off, blowing out the side window. The side door slides opens as the soldier's lifeless body forcibly gets kicked out. Leader shouts, "I DON'T FUCKING MISS!" then slams the door closed.
With deep breaths, letting out a growl in return, Leader calmly orders, "Let everyone know to retreat. And Miller, adjust the bullets. I don't want to see them fail again."
"Yes sir," Miller responds.
The BOA soldiers scramble into their cars to escape after being told to retreat. Sonic sticks around, making sure every single one of them leaves. He runs back to the Resistance Safe Zone to make sure that everyone is safe.
"Thanks, Sonic. Who knows how things would've turned out if you weren't around?" the Resistance Commander says.
"No problem. It's what I do," Sonic smirks.
Suddenly he gets a message from Tails. "Sonic, can you hear me? I found Chris. He ran away from me and I bet he went back home."
Hearing the tone in his voice, Sonic knew it wasn't good. He looks at his tracker, seeing exactly where Wally's home is.
Returning back home, Molly enters the living room seeing the front door up against the wall and the couch back in the same spot with Wally sitting on it. All Wally did, was just stare out of the broken main window. Stepping further into the living room, she looks down the hallway that leads to the garage, hoping not to see what lies on the floor. With a sigh of relief, the large soldier's body wasn't on the floor.
As she gets closer, Wally sadly says, "It's my fault. It's my fault that so many people got hurt today. My fault that Randy… died. My fault that…" He looks around the destroyed living room. "My fault that something bad almost happened to you and Peanut. They were after me."
Unsure what to even say, knowing the truth, Molly tries to give him support, "In the end… everything turned out ok. Peanut's safe… I'm safe… you're-"
"No… it's not okay. I'm going to lose myself and turn into someone else… Someone else that will erase everything all up to this point." He stands up and looks to Molly worried. "I'm going to forget you and everyone."
Molly walks up to him and hugs him as Resistance vehicles drive up to the house. She looks at the Resistance and looks back to him. "You know yourself better than that and that you will never let it happen."
He hugs her back. "What if I do? What if the person I meet in my mind, I wind up not liking?"
"You won't. You won't forget. I know you won't forget." She releases him and looks at him.
"I promise… I promise I won't forget you. I promise I'll be back," he says back to her.
Exiting out of the house, they walk to Sonic and the Resistance. Almost reaching them, Wally notices the door to Molly's car is open. He sees two small legs pop out and knows that it's Peanut exiting out. Wally stops and walks to where Peanut is instead. He kneels down to see him eye to eye, noticing the side of his face is bruised. He tries to smile as he asks, "Hey… I want you to do something for me."
Peanut loses his smile and gives him his full attention.
Wally points to Molly. "Stay by her… and keep her safe… Okay?"
Peanut, confused by the request, asks, "What do you mean? Why do you make it sound like you're not coming back?"
Wally looks away, stands up and walks to the Resistance.
Peanut keeps looking at him walking away and shouts, "YOU'RE COMING BACK RIGHT?" He turns to Molly worried seeing her hold back her tears. He shouts to her, "RIGHT?" He turns back to Wally as his voice cracks from sadness, "He's coming back… right?"
Wally gets into one of the vehicles and gets driven away.
