What's this, two chapters in one weekend? Well, things are going to get more interesting in Chapter 9, and I don't want to drag things out.

A big thank you to everyone who's following along, reading and reviewing!

Data, over the course of TNG, encounters several fanboys and fangirls of his. Picard does not, yet he gets a Captain Picard Day. Why is that? Justice for Lieutenant Commander Data, let's start a Second Officer Data day!

Chapter 8: Inter arma enim silent sīmius

The next morning, Kim was at Ron's door, breakfast rations in hand. She was greeted with a hug from Ron.

"You're only doing that because I brought breakfast," she teased.

Ron played along, "Gotta do it for Rufus, you brought him a human-sized meal!"

The Naked Mole Rat came running when he heard the news and made some noise that sounded a lot like "Yum, Breakfast!"

"Just a minute, buddy, we have to heat it up first," Ron said. "Uh, we heat this up, right KP?"

"I tried them cold once, would not recommend," was Kim's answer.

Ron took the ration packs and emptied their contents on the counter in the corner of his quarters.

"I brought three different menus so we can mix and match," Kim offered as Ron inspected the packages and placed some of them inside the replicator. He was having some trouble operating the replicator's controls. "Here, let me show you…" she said and moved closer to the replicator, and to Ron.

"I just realized that in over a decade, I never operated one of these using anything but voice commands," he said.

"You know those work, too, right?" Kim pressed a button on the panel and said "Reheat cycle." The replicator whirred for a few seconds.

"Guess I was overthinking it…"

"So not the drama. Let's eat."

Kim took the now-warm breakfast to the table, as Ron ordered drinks from the replicator. They sat down and an eager Rufus joined them at the table, greedily eyeing the still-packed meals.

"Oh, right, I took the liberty of inviting Commander Data to join us after breakfast, he's helping out with the names you gave me," Kim announced as she emptied one of the food packages onto a plate Ron had laid out.

"Data's a cool dude, I'd heard about him in my last universe, but I figured he'd be as stuck up as a Vulcan trying to pass as Romulan."

"Well, he seems to have a positive impression of you…"

"I'm telling you, everyone loves the Ronman!"

Rufus made his agreement with Ron's statement heard.

"So that's why you gave me a literal list of names titled enemies…"

Kim's statement made Ron reconsider his position, "Okay, most people love the Ronman."

As the two humans worked their way through their meals – Rufus had eaten all of his food by the time they had gotten their second bite in – Ron shared more details of his run-in with Monkeyfist and the Mystical Monkey Power.

"…so basically Wade fooled me, I didn't realize you were at your cousin Larry's – and Rufus and I were stuck in that creep's mansion. The only option was to man up, face my greatest fear, and acquire the monkey power! That said, I'm still not all that sure what this monkey power really does or how to use it, it's only come up twice."

"At Monkeyfist's mansion and where else?"

"Japan, after rescuing Yori, the traitor who sold us out to Monkeyfist challenged me to a one-on-one. Things did not go well for him… to shreds…"

Kim was mildly shocked, "You killed him?"

"What, no, of course not, why… Oh, to shreds, no, I meant his dreams of ninja college. He was banking on Monkeyfist doing him a solid after he took over the world, which of course he didn't. I actually wonder what became of him…"

"So, where was I?"

"Back home, crushing on the Japanese exchange student, as I understand it."

"Sounds like a poor choice to me…"

"What do you mean?"

Kim's face reddened as she realized that she had given voice to her thought.

"Uh… I mean, you know, exchange student, going back home soon?"

"Yeah, I guess." Ron seemed to buy her explanation. "Anyway, I tried to learn about this power, but somewhere along the line whatever knowledge there was seems to have sort of gone… poof."

"You mentioned a Shego woman, the green one…" Kim said to steer the conversation.

"Oh yeah, she used to be Drakken's hired help, then took over the world with time travel. Freaky comet powers and a big believer in skintight clothes…"

Kim raised an eyebrow at Ron's observation.

"She was a good match for you, comet plasma fire sitch aside. Maybe if you had some sort of super-suit that can deflect it and stuff, then you could consistently beat her."

Even if unintentional, Kim was not going to let such a challenge slide, "I'll beat her without fancy equipment!"

"KP, KP, KP… It's okay if you can't, she had comet powers…" Ron's mind caught up with Kim's choice of tenses. "Wait, you said will beat her? You mean she's here too!?"

"In a Lissepian prison. Guess we won't have to worry about her."

The door chime rang out.

"Enter," Ron said, and Lieutenant Commander Data stepped inside the quarters.

"Good morning, Lieutenant, Ron."

"Good morning, Sir," Kim said as she got up out of respect for the higher rank.

Ron also got up, somehow more quickly, and made his way over to Data, whom he greeted with a raised, open palm – sort of like a handshake, but weird. Data was somewhat perplexed and mirrored the movement, whereupon Ron reached out with his other hand to pat the android's back. Seeing the generalized confusion in the room, Ron explained.

"It's sort of an informal handshake."

"Ah," Data answered, "although the traditional handshake has remained popular over the centuries, several variations have come and gone in the same time. I will study these ahead of our next encounter."

"Dude, relax and don't overthink it! There's enough business to worry about that we don't need to create more work for ourselves. Have a seat while I put away the dirty dishes. That goes for you too, Kim!"

Neither officer felt particularly well-trained for the social nuances of the occasion, and both deferred to following Ron's instructions until he returned to the now-cleared table.

"So, what did you make of my list?" Ron's curiosity was evident despite the nonchalant veneer to his demeanor.

"Of the 213 individuals listed, I located 147 with a high degree of certainty – and I determined that many of these also have connections to Lieutenant Possible. 76 are classmates, 12 are current or past school staff at New Middleton High School on Mars, 55 are various members of the New Middleton community, and four are enemies or associates thereof. 44 additional individuals are somewhat likely to match names on the list. 22 names did not yield any relevant matches, these were mostly Ron's family members."

Despite the rapid-fire nature of the announcement, the key takeaway, as evident from Ron's face, was that his family was nowhere to be found. Kim reached out to grab Ron's forearm in a reassuring gesture.

"You said four enemies, which ones?" Ron said with little of his usual enthusiasm.

"Ambassador Fiske, Shego, Doctor Drakken and Duff Killigan."

Ron's eyes widened at the revelation, "Oh my God, this can't be a coincidence, they're exactly the ones who stole the time monkey in the first place!"

"Sir, do we have full records on them?" Kim asked.

"No, Lieutenant," Data answered, "Ambassador Fiske's biography is curiously vague up until 2340, when he was admitted into the Federation Diplomatic Corps. His promotion to ambassador to the Klingon homeworld in 2344 resulted in a lot of attention as a relatively unknown diplomat was given one of the most politically meaningful posts in the Federation.

"Records first indicate Doctor Drakken's existence in 2354. The registrar's office noted that a positive verification of his identity was not possible and that he was suspected of having assumed a false identity as 'Drew Lipsky'. However, lacking any evidence of his real identity, as well as any evidence of a crime, his registration was approved. Last year, he was admitted to the psychiatric ward of the medical facilities on Starbase 375, where he is currently housed.

"Duff Killigan was found adrift in cryogenic suspended animation in 2358. Although he could not recall how he ended up in that situation, he claimed to be from the early 21st century. Such situations are not unheard of, even the Enterprise has encountered people from the 21st century whose bodies were placed in cryogenic storage, but who could be successfully revived. In any case, Mr. Killigan has been working for Starfleet since 2359.

"Finally, Shego is currently serving a prison sentence of 10 years for attempted robbery of the Lissepian Central Bank. The Federation embassy sent an observer to the trial, during which she made a number of statements that were widely dismissed as an unsuccessful bid for an insanity plea. In retrospect, these statements fit with other facts and with statements by Ron."

For a change, Ron had nothing to immediately answer with. Data continued, while handing Ron a PADD.

"I have prepared summary files on all the listed individuals who were identifiable, including photographs where available."

Ron examined the 'enemies' section pensively. "That's the four of them, I'm sure. I have to ask, if they all seem to have come from the past, why not Kim as well? And everyone else?"

"I cannot offer an explanation at this time," Data answered, "but it seems clear that a common mechanism must be involved."

"Commander," Kim asked, "do we know why Drakken was admitted?"

"We do not, as that is medical information, and access is thus highly restricted by law. However, Doctor Drakken has expressed that he is open to receiving visitors. It may be possible to meet with him when we arrive at Starbase 375.

"I have not contacted any of these individuals, due to the sensitive nature of your investigation, Lieutenant."

"Thanks, Commander, you've been a great help as always." Kim paused briefly to reflect on her next steps. "I think we need to arrange a call with Drakken, but I don't want to tip our hand early. Could you call Starbase 375, Commander?"

"Certainly," Data said before getting up and approaching the desk which held the computer terminal. He entered a few commands and adjusted the monitor to keep the camera's field of view away from the two humans in the room. Soon another voice was heard.

"Starbase 375 psychiatric hospital, how can I help you, Commander?"

"Good morning, I am Lieutenant Commander Data aboard the Enterprise. I understand that a mister Drew Lipsky, also known as Doctor Drakken, is being treated at your facility. Would you please let him know that I wish to speak to him privately?"

"Very well, Sir, I'll check, if you'll hold for just a minute."

"Acknowledged."

It can't be this easy. Kim looked over at Ron, who forced a weak smile at Kim. She replied with a smile of her own, which helped put him at ease.

"Thanks for holding, Commander. Mr. Lipsky will take your call, may I transfer you?"

"Please do."

Kim and Ron moved slightly to get a good view of the screen, without being picked up by the camera. A humanoid figure with blue skin and a nasty scar came on the screen, beaming with excitement.

"Oh my God, it really is you, Mr. Data! I'm a huge fan, I did a bit of work on robotics and artificial intelligence back in my college days and you wouldn't believe how exciting…"

Ron whispered to Kim, "He built robot dates for his colleges roommates because he couldn't find human dates." She stared back at him incredulously. "I know, sick and wrong. Wrongsick," he concluded.

"Doctor Drakken," Data had to interrupt the long, incredibly unbroken sentence and create his own chance to interrupt. Of course, it helped that he was immune to the hypnotic qualities of a gushing fanboy's speech to his idol. "I appreciate your kind words, and I would be happy to discuss these matters with you at a later date. However, I must introduce your primary interlocutor for today."

Data turned the monitor to face Kim and Ron. Drakken's reaction was pure shock.

"Kim Possible and the buffoon! Where the hell have you two been for the past twelve years!?"

"For crying out loud, it's Stoppable! Ron Stoppable! How could you forget!?" This was clearly a sore point for Ron.

"Yes, whatever. Silly name, 'Stoppable'…" Drakken mumbled incomprehensibly to himself. "This means I am not crazy and I do know Shego!"

Kim asked him inquisitively, "What about Shego?"

"When the news broke that she'd been arrested on Lissepia, of all places, I started making calls, telling people she was a time traveler. When people didn't believe me, I sort of tried to make my point more aggressively…" He grumbled something to the effect of "lousy psychiatric board threw me into a padded cell."

"Did you threaten anyone by saying you'll regret this or you have made a grave mistake?" Ron challenged.

"No," Drakken answered visibly upset and in a deflated voice, "I believe I actually said you will pay for your insolence."

"And you wonder why they considered you clinically insane," Kim jabbed.

Ron couldn't resist piling on, "Yeah, dude, you had like a decade to take anger management classes…"

"I assume you didn't just want to gloat…" Drakken was eager to move the conversation along.

"You're right, though it's a lot of fun," Kim replied, "we'll arrive at Starbase 375 in a week or so. I need to talk to you and get a better understanding of how you got here."

"Well, short version is 'it was the blasted Tempus Simia'…"

"Temporis Sīmia. Genitive case, long 'i' vowel." Kim felt the need to correct Drakken, who took it with a deep frown.

"The blasted Time Monkey. Better?"

"What about the long version?" Ron had just asked the big open question.

"I'll need to do the math. I'll need a few days, your arrival changes things. You know where to find me, Drakken out."

As the transmission ended, Ron seemed deep in thought.

"What's the sitch, Ron?"

"I dunno, I just don't think I'd ever seen quite that look on Drakken. You know, like he realized he was right, but also totally wrong at the same time."

Data intervened, "Although he did seem rather pensive towards the end of the call, your statement appears to be prima facie paradoxical."

"Maybe," Ron answered, "but I know him well and I've never seen him quite like that. No gloating, no threats… I guess I'm just worried."

"Yeah," Kim concluded, "he definitely knows more than he's letting on."

"So, what do we do now, KP?"

"We make it look as if you had never set foot on this ship."
