Ula'ula Island Grand Trials (Part One)
The Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy waited with Maxiley on the pier near Malie City for Kahuna Nanu to return so they can battle him for their Grand Trials.
"Everyone; because of Kahuna Nanu's battle with Makoa, we now know he uses dark type Pokemon." said Edd.
"What types have an advantage over dark types?" asked Jimmy.
"That would be bug, fighting, and fairy type Pokemon." replied Edd. "But keep in mind that Krokorok is part ground, so water and grass type moves would also be effective against it."
"I'll take Kahuna Nanu on first." said Sarah.
"I'm sure you'll do just fine, Sarah." said Maxiley, putting a hand on Sarah's shoulder.
"Thanks, Maxie." replied Sarah.
"Alola, everyone." said Kahuna Nanu. The group sees him walking over to them.
"Alola, Kahuna Nanu." replied Edd.
"So, you're here to take on my Grand Trial?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"You bet your sweet bippy we are." replied Ed.
"Very well; which of you will be facing me first?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"I will, I will." said Sarah, waving her hand. Kahuna Nanu nods in response. Moments later, Sarah and Kahuna Nanu were facing each other on the pier while the others watched. A man walks in-between them.
"This Grand Trial is between Kahuna Nanu and the challenger, Sarah." said the man acting as a referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner." The man walks off the pier while Sarah and Kahuna Nanu each pull out a pokeball.
"Sableye, go!" said Kahuna Nanu, throwing Sableye's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Jolteon!" said Sarah, throwing Jolteon's pokeball and releasing her.
"Sableye, use Fake Out!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye jumps in front of Jolteon and claps its hands, releasing a shockwave that hits Jolteon, making her flinch. "Now use Power Gem!" Sableye fires a red beam out of the red gem on its torso and it hits Jolteon, damaging her.
"Jolteon, use Thunder Fang!" said Sarah. Jolteon jumps at Sableye while her fangs were covered in electricity and she bites Sableye, damaging it; Sableye becomes covered in static electricity.
"Sableye's paralyzed." said Edd.
"Now use Discharge!" said Sarah. Jolteon releases bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Sableye, damaging it.
"Use Shadow Ball!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye fights through its paralysis and forms a ball of black energy in its hands; it throws it at Jolteon and hits her, dealing damage, and weakening her special defense.
"Thunder Fang!" said Sarah. Jolteon bites Sableye with electrical fangs, dealing damage.
"Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Sableye from attacking.
"Discharge!" said Sarah. Jolteon releases bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Sableye, knocking it out.
"Sableye is unable to battle. Jolteon wins the match." said the referee.
"Great job, Jolteon." said Sarah.
"Way to go, Sarah." said Maxiley.
"Yay, Sarah!" said Ed.
"Well done." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu returns Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Krokorok, go!" He throws Krokorok's pokeball and releases it.
"Jolteon, use Tackle!" said Sarah. Jolteon charges at Krokorok and rams into it, damaging it.
"Krokorok, Earthquake!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok jumps onto the ground, creating an earthquake, dealing super effective damage to Jolteon and knocking it out.
"Jolteon is unable to battle. Krokorok wins the match." said the referee.
"Excellent job, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu. Sarah returns Jolteon to her pokeball.
"It's okay, Jolteon; you did your best." said Sarah. She puts Jolteon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Ledian, go!" She throws Ledian's pokeball and releases her.
"Excellent choice; Leidan's part flying, so ground type moves will have no effect on Ledian." said Edd.
"But Ledian has moves that will really hurt Krokorok." said Sarah. "Ledian, Mach Punch!" Ledian flies towards Krokorok while her fist glows light blue and she punches Krokorok, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Krokorok, Assurance!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok charges at Ledian.
"Ledian, Reflect!" said Sarah. Ledian crosses her arms, and a rainbow-colored square barrier appears in front of her; Krokorok rams into it, knocking Ledian back, but not dealing much damage to her. "Now use Silver Wind!" Ledian releases silver crescent shaped waves of energy from her wings and they hit Krokorok, dealing super effective damage to it. Ledian suddenly begins surging with energy.
"It appears Ledian's stats have increased by Silver Wind." said Edd.
"Krokorok, Crunch!" said Kahuna Nanu. Krokorok charges at Ledian and bites her, but not dealing much damage to her.
"Mach Punch!" said Sarah. Ledian flies towards Krokorok and punches it, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Krokorok is unable to battle. Ledian wins the match." said the referee.
"You were great, Ledian!" said Sarah.
"You're doing great, Sarah." said Maxiley.
"Just one more Pokemon." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu returns Krokorok to its pokeball.
"You did well, Krokorok." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Krokorok's pokeball away and pulls out another one while looking at Sarah. "You're doing quite well, Sarah; but you need to beat my final Pokemon in order to pass my trial. Persian, go!" He throws Persian's pokeball and releases it.
"Ledian, Mach Punch!" said Sarah. Ledian flies at Perisan and punches it, dealing super effective damage to it. Kahuna Nanu holds up his arm, showing his Z-Ring which held a Darkinum Z crystal. He does poses and channels energy onto Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Perisan, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persain lifts up its head and a sphere of red, black, and purple energy forms above its head; it throws the sphere at Ledian where it expands into a black hole. Ledian gets sucked into the hole and it shrinks; it then explodes, dealing damage to Ledian; she lands onto the pier. She struggles to get up.
"Are you okay, Ledian?" asked Sarah. Ledian was suddenly surrounded by a light green aura.
"That's Ledian's Swarm ability, Sarah; her bug type moves are much stronger now." said Edd. Sarah smiles at the advice.
"Ledian, Bug Buzz!" said Sarah. Ledian opens her mouth and lets out a loud buzz, releasing red soundwaves onto Perisan; due to the power boost from Ledian's Silver Wind earlier in the Grand Trail, combined with the power increase from Swarm, along with Persian's weakness to bug type moves, Persian receives massive damage that knocks it out.
"Persian is unable to battle. Ledian wins the match. The winner of the Grand Trial is the challenger, Sarah." said the referee.
"We did it, Ledian!" said Sarah.
"Sarah won!" said Ed.
"Way to go!" said Eddy.
"You were great, Sarah!" said Jimmy. Maxiley runs to Sarah and hugs her, who hugs him in response. Kahuna Nanu returns Persian to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Persian's pokeball away and walks over to Sarah, which causes her to break her hug with Maxiley, much to both their disappointment. "You've done an excellent job raising your Pokemon, Sarah."
"Thanks." said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Darkinium-Z crystal.
"For passing the Grand Trail, I reward you with the Darkinium-Z crystal." said Kahuna Nanu. He gives Sarah the Darkinium-Z crystal, along with pokedollars; he also puts a stamp in Sarah's Trainer's Passport to prove she passed the Grand Trial, as well as showing her the poses needed to activate the Darkinium Z. Sarah and Maxiley held hands and walked over to the group.
"You were amazing, Sarah." said Jimmy.
"You can say that again." said Maxiley, making Sarah smile. Jimmy runs over to Kahuna Nanu.
"I want to battle you next, Kahuna Nanu." said Jimmy.
"Very well. As soon as I get my Pokemon healed, we will have our battle." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Okay." Jimmy replied. While Nanu was getting his Pokemon treated, Jimmy goes over his team and picks out the ones he would use in his Grand Trial.
Twenty minutes later, Nanu returns and gets ready for Jimmy's Grand Trial.
"Are you ready, young man?" asked Nanu.
"You bet I am." said Jimmy with determination in his voice. The official steps in between the two trainers.
"This Grand Trial is between Kahuna Nanu and the challenger, Jimmy." said the man acting as a referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Whoever still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner." The man walks off the pier while Jimmy and Kahuna Nanu each pull out a pokeball.
"Sableye, come out!" said Nanu as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Sableye.
"Butterfree, I choose you!" said Jimmy as he releases his Butterfree.
"Sableye, use Fake Out!" said Nanu. His Sableye runs at Butterfree and claps its hands in front of his face, startling him, which makes him fall to the ground, hurting him, and making him flinch. "Now, use Power Gem!" Sableye creates shiny rocks that fire off beams of energy that hit Butterfree, doing super effective damage.
"That was quite powerful." said Edd.
"Butterfree, use Air Slash!" said Jimmy. Butterfree flaps his wings, releasing blades of wind that hit Sableye, doing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Silver Wind!" Butterfree flaps his wings again, releasing a blast of wind that had silver powder in it, hitting Sableye; a surge of energy rises up from him.
"Silver Wind just boosted Butterfree's stats." said Edd.
"Hope it's enough." said Sarah.
"Sableye, use Power Gem again!" said Nanu. Sableye creates more shiny rocks that fire off energy beams at Butterfree, hitting him, and doing enough super effective damage to knock him out.
"Butterfree is unable to battle. Sableye is the winner." said the offiicial.
"Excellent work, Sableye." said Nanu, making Sableye grin, showing his sharp teeth.
"Poor Butterfree." said Sarah.
"You can still win this, Jimmy!" said Eddy. Jimmy nods as he returns his Butterfree to his pokeball.
"You were great, Butterfree." said Jimmy. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Wishiwashi, which transforms into his School Form. "Wishiwashi, use Dive!" Wishiwashi dives off the pier and into the water.
"Stay alert, Sableye!" said Nanu. As Sableye looks at the water for its opponent, Wishiwashi leaps out of the water and slams into it, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Sableye is unable to battle. Wishiwashi is the winner." said the official.
"Good work, Wishiwashi." said Jimmy. Wishiwashi swims around in victory.
"Keep it up, Jimmy!" said Maxiley.
"You got this!" said Eddy. Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"You fought well, Sableye." said Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Krokorok.
"Wishiwashi, hurry and use Aqua Tail!" said Jimmy. Wishiwashi leaps at the Krokorok with his tail coated in water and swings it across Krokorok's face, doing super effective damage.
"Krokorok, use Crunch!" said Nanu. Krokorok bites down on Wishiwashi, doing damage, and lowering his defense.
"Wishiwashi, use Water Gun!" said Jimmy. Wishiwashi releases a large spray of water from his mouth that hits Krokorok, doing super effective damage.
"Krokorok, use Mud-Slap!" said Nanu. Krokorok flings some mud into Wishiwashi's eyes, doing a little damage to him, and lowers his accuracy.
"Wishiwashi, try using Aqua Tail!" said Jimmy. Wishiwashi swings his tail at Krokorok again, but thanks to his decreased accuracy, he misses.
"Krokorok, use Assurance!" said Nanu. Krokorok thrusts his claws into Wishiwashi, doing damage, and makes his body scatter apart until only Jimmy's original Wishiwashi was remaining.
"Do something, Jimmy!" said Ed.
"Wishiwashi, use Brine!" said Jimmy. Wishiwashi releases a strong blast of water from his mouth that manages to hit Krokorok, and does a lot of super effective damage to it, knocking it out.
"Krokorok is unable to battle. Wishiwashi is the winner." said the official.
"Way to go, Jimmy!" said Eddy.
"Just one more to go!" said Sarah. Nanu returns his Krokorok to its pokeball.
"You tried your best." said Nanu. He puts Krokorok's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Persian. "Use Thunderbolt!" Persian releases a blast of electricity from the gem on its forehead that hits Wishiwashi, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Wishiwashi is unable to battle. Persian is the winner." said the official.
"Excellent, Persian." said Nanu. Persian smirks at Jimmy in response.
"Poor Wishiwashi." said Ed.
"He did his best." said Maxiley.
"Now Jimmy has one Pokemon remaining." said Edd. Jimmy returns his Wishiwashi to his pokeball.
"You were great, Wishiwashi." said Jimmy. He puts Wishiwashi's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; he throws it, releasing his Lucario.
"Jimmy's first Pokemon!" said Ed with joy.
"I remember the day we gave him that Pokemon egg." said Edd.
"Good times." said Eddy. "And we'll have more of them after Jimmy wins his Grand Trial."
"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Jimmy. Lucario runs at the Persian and punches it across its face; a surge of energy rises up from him that powers up his attack strength.
"Persian, use Play Rough!" said Nanu. Persian tackles Lucario and starts wrestling him, doing damage, and lowers his attack power.
"Lucario, use Brick Break!" said Jimmy. Lucario brings one of his hands down onto Persian, doing super effective damage.
"Persian, use Play Rough again!" said Nanu. Persian wrestles around with Lucario some more, weakening his attack strength even more.
"Time to use a Z-Move!" said Jimmy as he takes his Fightium-Z Crystal off his Z-Rings wrist band and places it into the slot; he then does the palm thrusts that Kahuna Hala showed him before, making Z-Energy come out from him and into Lucario, making the Z-Power symbol appear in front of him. "Now, Lucario, use All-Out Pummeling!" Lucario starts doing arm thrusts, releasing energy masses shaped like open palms at Persian, hitting it over and over, doing super effective damage each time; it soon became too much for it to handle and it passes out.
"Persian is unable to battle. Lucario is the winner. The winner of the Grand Trial is the challenger, Jimmy." said the official.
"Jimmy won!" cheered Ed. Sarah and Maxiley hugged each other and jumped up and down while doing so.
"I knew he would!" said Edd.
"That was so awesome!" said Eddy. Jimmy runs over to Lucario and hugs him from behind.
"I knew you could do it!" said Jimmy, making Lucario smile and nod. Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"You did well, Persian." said Nanu. He puts the pokeball away and walks over to Jimmy. "I must admit, you have a lot of skill for your age, young man."
"Thank you, Mr. Nanu." said Jimmy. Nanu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Darkinium Z-Crystal.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Z-Crystal." said Nanu as he hands it, along with some pokedollars to Jimmy. "Now I need to place a stamp on your trainer's passport also."
"Okay." said Jimmy as he takes out his passport and hands it to Nanu who then puts the Ula'ula Island stamp on it. Nanu then looks towards the Eds.
"So, which of the famous Eds will I be taking on first?" asked Nanu.
"Me!" said Ed as he steps forward.
"Very well." said Nanu. "Once my Pokemon are healed, we will battle."
"Oh boy!" said Ed as he claps with joy.
Sarah and Jimmy have won their third Grand Trial. Now the Eds are up. Will they all pass? Wait and find out.
