The Sinnoh Region

Somewhere in a wooded area at night, a green portal appears and out of it came Lincoln and Sam. As the portal disappears, they look around at their surroundings.

"Where are we?" asked Sam.

"I have no idea." said Lincoln. "I'm just glad for the opportunity to get away from Royal Woods for a while."

"You said it, little bro." said Sam with a smile, making Lincoln smile back.

"So, what now?" asked Lincoln.

"It's a little late out to be walking through unfamiliar woods where who-knows-what could be lurking around." said Sam. Lincoln lets out a yawn and takes a blanket out of his backpack, making Sam do the same.

"We should get some sleep for now." said Lincoln. "In the morning, we should see if there's any signs of civilized life in this dimension."

"Good call, little dude." said Sam. The two go to a nearby tree; then Lincoln puts his bike against it and he and Sam sit down. Lincoln pulls Bun Bun out of his backpack and wraps one of his arms around it. They both wrap their blankets around themselves and go to sleep.

The night quickly went by and soon, morning came. As Lincoln and Sam slept, a catlike creature that was light blue on its front half and black on its back half, had yellow rings around its front ankles and a yellow, four-pronged star shape on the tip of its tail comes out from behind a tree, sniffing around the grass. It sees Lincoln and Sam sleeping against the tree, making it tilt its head to its side out of curiosity. It walks over to Lincoln and hops onto his lap where it begins sniffing his face. This makes Lincoln wake up a little, making him yawn and rubs his right eye. As he opens it, he sees the creature's face, up close to his. Lincoln yells in shock, startling Sam awake.

"What's wrong, little bro?" asked Sam out of concern. She looks to see the creature now looking over at her. "Awww, what a cute little...whatever this is." She reaches out and scratches the creature's chin, making it smile; Lincoln then begins to pat the creature's head.

"What is this?" asked Lincoln as he continues patting the creature's head.

"No idea." said Sam. The two then get up and stretch.

"So, what now?" asked Lincoln as he and Sam put their blankets in their backpacks.

"Let's look around for a while and try and see what we can find." said Sam. The two walk south and quickly found a path, unaware that the creature was following after them. They go down and soon see a town with people around.

"At least we're in a dimension with human beings." said Lincoln.

"Yeah, let's see what we can learn about this place." said Sam. As they look around, Lincoln sees a briefcase lying on a bench.

"What's this doing here?" asked Lincoln as he picks it up.

"I'm guessing someone lost it." suggested Sam.

"Must have." replied Lincoln. He then sees some writing on it that said, 'Property of Professor Rowan.'.

"Maybe we should return this." said Sam.

"Let's ask around and see if anyone knows this Professor Rowan person." said Lincoln. They didn't have to wait long before they found someone who did. They were given directions which led them to a large building that had a windmill on it. Seeing a door, they go over and knock on it. A few seconds later, it opens to show an elderly gentleman with gray hair, sideburns, and a mustache; wearing a lab coat over a light blue vest, gray tie, dark teal pants, and gray shoes.

"Can I help you children?" asked the man.

"Are you Professor Rowan?" asked Lincoln.

"Yes; can I do something for you?" asked the man, now identified as Professor Rowan.

"We think this is yours." said Sam as she holds out the briefcase, surprising Professor Rowan.

"My briefcase!" said Professor Rowan as he grabs it from Sam. "Where did you find it?"

"On a bench." answered Lincoln.

"Thank you so much for returning it." said Professor Rowan.

"You're welcome." said Lincoln. Professor Rowan then looks behind them with a raised eyebrow. Lincoln and Sam look to see the creature from before walking over to them.

"Hey, it's that creature we saw back in the forest." said Sam.

"Oh, that Pokemon is known as a Shinx." said Professor Rowan.

"Pokemon?" replied Lincoln, surprising Professor Rowan.

"You sound like you don't know what Pokemon are." said Professor Rowan.

"We don't. In fact, we're not exactly from around here." said Lincoln. "You think we can talk about this inside? It's kind of a long story."

"Very well." replied Professor Rowan. He leads Lincoln and Sam into his lab where they sat. Lincoln and Sam looked around at all the computer and lab equipment, plus all the shelves with stacks of books on them. Professor Rowan then leads the two over to a table and had them sit down at it. Lincoln then goes on to explain to Professor Rowan about how he and Sam came from another dimension after transporting themselves with Lisa's Dimensional Watch to escape the backlash they've been getting after someone put up a photoshopped picture about them, supposedly kissing, online.

"I find it hard to believe that a four-year-old is capable of creating a device that can create gateways between dimensions." said Professor Rowan.

"I'm pretty sure just about anyone else who doesn't know her well enough would be the same way." said Lincoln.

"If I didn't know her, I wouldn't have believed it." said Sam.

"Anyway, we needed to get away from all that; my sisters have been giving me a hard time because of what they believe happened, so we came here because I'm sure Lisa would not be able to track us in another dimension with the tracking chip, I'm pretty sure she planted on me." said Lincoln.

"Why would she do that?" asked Professor Rowan.

"Lisa's willing to do anything in the 'interest of science'. Pretty sure she put tracking chips in our other family members; I know she did it with our parents, and she does have surveillance cameras in just about every room in our house; even our bathroom." said Lincoln.

"Oh, sweet Arceus." said Professor Rowan as he pinches the bridge of his nose. Lincoln then looks down at the floor and sees the Shinx they met nuzzling Sam's leg.

"So, Professor Rowan, what exactly are Pokemon?" asked Lincoln.

"Pokemon are mysterious beings that exist all around the world, or in your case, this one." said Professor Rowan. "Right now, you're in a part of our world called the Sinnoh Region, or more specifically, Sandgem Town."

"So that's what this place is called." said Sam.

"Precisely." said Professor Rowan. "As I was saying, Pokemon are mysterious creatures, and it's my job to learn more about them and their secrets."

"Do they get along with humans?" asked Lincoln.

"For the most part." said Professor Rowan. "People catch them for multiple reasons, such as to have as companions, to help with tasks that their unique talents would be useful in, and some train them to battle against one another; people who do that are called Pokemon trainers."

"Are these Pokemon things okay with fighting each other?" asked Sam.

"Of course." said Professor Rowan. "It's a Pokemon's nature to battle; you could say that a trainer's job is to help bring out their true potential."

"What are battles between Pokemon like?" asked Lincoln. Professor Rowan leads them over to a computer and brings up a video showing a Pokemon battle. It showed a boy and a girl, each on opposite ends of a battle arena in what appeared to be a stadium, facing each other while each holding a ball like device that was red on one half, and white on the other with a black band with a white button on it in the middle.

"Bibarel, go!" said the girl, throwing the ball. It opens up and red energy comes out of it; it turns into a brown, beaverlike Pokemon.

"Go, Mothim!" said the girl, throwing the ball like device and releasing a mothlike Pokemon. Lincoln watches with great interest. "Okay, Mothim, use Air Slash!" Mothim flaps its wings and releases light blue energy blades from them, and they hit the boy's Bibarel, knocking it back.

"Bibarel, use Rollout!" said the boy. Bibarel curls into a ball and rolls at Mothim; it jumps into the air and rams into Mothim, knocking it back. The Bibarel lands on the ground and rolls in place.

"Mothim, use Psychic!" said the girl. Mothim's eyes glow blue and Bibarel is suddenly lifted up from the ground; it gets slammed down onto the ground. Bibarel rolls towards Mothim and rams into it, knocking it to the ground. As Mothim struggles to get up, it becomes surrounded by a light green aura.

"And it looks like Mothim's Swarm ability has activated." said an announcer's voice in the background.

"All right, Mothim, use Bug Buzz!" said the girl. Mothim lets out a loud buzz and releases red soundwaves; they hit Bibarel and it gets knocked onto the arena floor with swirly eyes.

"Bibarel is unable to battle. Mothim is the winner." said a referee from the side of the arena.

"Marcie's Mothim had defeated Norbert's Bibarel to earn Marcie the victory." said the announcer. With that, the video ends.

"So, what do you think?" asked Professor Rowan.

"That looked so cool!" said Lincoln.

"Yeah, this Pokemon trainer gig looks like something I could probably get into." said Sam.

"Me too." said Lincoln.

"So, what are you two going to do now that you're here?" asked Professor Rowan.

"I don't know." said Lincoln.

"Maybe a little tour of Sandgem Town will help you figure that out?" suggested Professor Rowan.

"I guess that wouldn't hurt." said Sam. Just then, a girl about Lincoln's age with long blue hair, wearing a white beanie, black sweater dress over a white top and pink mini skirt, and pink boots over black knee socks, walks into the lab.

"Hello, Professor Rowan." said the girl.

"Oh, hello, Dawn." replied Professor Rowan. He turned towards Lincoln and Sam. "This is Dawn; she's one of my assistant's daughter." The girl, now identified as Dawn, turned towards Lincoln and Sam.

"Oh, you have company over?" asked Dawn.

"Yes; in fact, they're new in town." said Professor Rowan.

"Well, it's nice to meet you two." said Dawn.

"I have some research I need to focus on, so would you mind showing these two around the town?" asked Professor Rowan.

"Sure, Professor Rowan; no need to worry." said Dawn. Professor Rowan nods and walks away, leaving Lincoln and Sam alone with Dawn.

"So, what are your names?" asked Dawn.

"I'm Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln.

"And I'm Sam Sharp." said Sam. The group then exit Professor Rowan's lab.
