Research and Requests (Part Three)

With Lori, Luna, Luan, and Lily; they were staring down a Starly alongside Lily's Bidoof.

"Wollout!" said Lily. Bidoof tucks herself into a ball and rolls at the Starly, hitting it, and knocking it out.

"That's another Starly defeated." said Luan.

"That's the fifth one." said Luna.

"Lily's really good at giving her Bidoof commands." said Lori. Lily giggles at the praise she was getting.

"How many have we caught?" asked Lori.

"We each caught one." said Luan.

"So, that's four altogether." said Luna.

"Do you think we have enough information on Starly to complete the page on it?" asked Luan.

"We'll find out when we meet back up with Professor Laventon." said Lori.

"Let's keep looking around some more." said Luna.

Lori's group to a western part of the area and head towards a small grove of trees nearby to see what they can find; as they look around, they notice the Pokemon that the guard at Galaxy Hall described to them.

"Is that a Wurmple?" asked Luan. Lori takes out the page on it that Professor Laventon gave them and looks at the attached pictures.

"Yep, that's a Wurmple." said Lori.

"Should we catch one?" asked Luna.

"Well, we did promise that guard we would get one for him." said Lori.

"Let's do it." said Luna. The girls quietly sneak up on the Wurmple, making sure to stay in the tall grass to avoid being spotted.

"Are we close enough?" asked Luan.

"I think so." said Lori. She quietly takes out one of their empty pokeballs and throws it at the Wurmple from behind it, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before a firework shoots out of it, indicating a successful capture.

"Got it!" said Luna.

"So now what?" asked Luan.

"Let's catch a few more for Professor Laventon; maybe battle them, or even battle using ones we caught." said Lori.

"One of the research tasks is to watch it use a move called Poison Sting." said Luna.

"Okay then, girls; let's get to it." said Lori. Luna, Luan, and Lily each caught a Wurmple for themselves, with Lily catching a smaller one. They also battled a few more with Lori, Luna, Luan, and Lily's Starlies; after those battles, the Starlies all learned Quick Attack.

Lily used her Bidoof as well to battle; after a while she started to use an attack that involved her ramming her opponents.

They also had their Wurmples battle as well, having them use their Poison Sting attacks to get information on them. The Wurmples also started using an attack that involved them charging at their opponents and ramming them.

After a while, most of their Wurmples were starting to act a little strangely.

"Are they okay?" asked Luna.

"Maybe we've worked them too hard." said Luan. As Lily petted her Wurmple with concern, it, along with Luna and Luan's all started glowing.

"What's wrong with them?" asked Lori with alarm.

"I don't know." said Luna. They all watched as the three Wurmples started to change before their eyes.

"Wait; didn't that guard say that some Pokemon change into different ones when they get enough experience battling?" asked Lori.

"You mean that evolution thing?" asked Luna.

"Yeah, that's it." said Lori. When the Wurmples were done changing, Lily's Wurmple looked like a white cocoon with red eyes, while Luna and Luan's looked like Lily's, except they were purple.

"Wow!" said Luan.

"What are they now?" asked Luna. Lori looks through the papers that Professor Laventon gave them to learn more about their evolved Wurmples.

"Lily's Wurmple is a Silcoon, and yours and Luan's are Cascoons." said Lori.

"One of the research tasks for Wurmples is to evolve them." said Luan as she looks at the research paper.

"Rad." said Luna.

"What's that word?" asked Lori.

"I don't know, it just came out." said Luna.

"I wish we can remember more about our pasts." said Lori.

"We all do." said Luan. Lily whimpers at not having a lot of her memories.

"What now?" asked Luna.

"Let's just keep doing research." said Lori.

"We should let your Wurmple rest for now." said Luan. "Don't want it to evolve before we give it to that guard."

"Good idea." said Lori.

"Let's go then." said Luna. Lori picks up Lily and the two continued to explore the area.

Meanwhile, Leni and the twins were checking out an area called Horseland Heights for Pokemon to study. As they did, they found a deposit of red ore and and their Oshawott break it to get the Tumblestones inside.

"Do any of you see any Apricorn trees around here?" asked Lana. As Leni looks around, she sees one, but she also saw something she was more interested in; a small, brown Pokemon with long ears, and a fluffy tail.

"That Pokemon is so cute!" said Leni, getting the twins' attention.

"I want it!" shouts Lola.

"What is it?" asked Lana. Leni looks at the papers that Professor Laventon gave them and finds a picture of the Pokemon.

"I think that Pokemon is called an Eevee." said Leni.

"Should we catch it?" asked Lana.

"We are supposed to catch some to help with the pokedex." said Leni.

"MINE!" shouts Lola, startling the Eevee, making it run away.

"You scared it off, Lola!" said Lana.

"Let's go after it." said Leni. The three follows after the Eevee, but soon lose sight of it.

"Where did it go?" asked Lola.

"I don't know." said Leni.

"We can look for another one." said Lana. "And this time we won't make any loud noise to scare it off."

"Fine." said Lola. The two spent some time looking around the area until they found a new Pokemon that looked like a horse with a fiery mane.

"What's that?" asked Lana. Leni looks at the research papers until she sees the one that had pictures of the Pokemon they found.

"That's a Ponyta." said Leni. Before Lola could shout that she wanted it, Lana quickly puts her hand over Lola's mouth.

"Remember what happened with that Eevee?" asked Lana. After a few seconds, Lola nods, making Lana take her hand off Lola's mouth.

"Yuck." whispered Lola. "When was the last time you washed your hands?"

"I... can't remember." said Lana with a sad expression.

"Sorry." said Lola.

"How can we sneak up on it?" asked Lana.

"Maybe we can distract it." suggested Leni.

"How?" asked Lola. Leni looks around and notices an Oran Berry tree nearby.

"Let's see if it likes berries." said Leni. She quietly sneaks over to the tree with Oshawott and has her tackle it to shake some Oran Berries loose; she then gathers them up and heads back over to where the twins were continuing to watch the Ponyta.

"Throw them to a spot that will make that Ponyta look away from us." said Lana. Leni nods and tosses an Oran Berry behind the Ponyta, drawing its attention away from them.

"I'll catch it." whispered Lola. She quietly sneaks up behind the Ponyta, then has Oshawott tackle it; as she does, her body becomes coated in water as she slams into the Ponyta, having a noticeable effect on it. As it struggles to get up, Lola takes out an empty pokeball and tosses it at the Ponyta, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before a firework shoots out from it, indicating a successful capture.

"You did it, Lola." whispered Lana. She and Leni run to where Lola was as she was picking up her new Ponyta's pokeball.

"Oh yeah!" said Lola. "I got a Ponyta!" As Leni looks around at where she threw the Oran Berry, she sees another Eevee nibbling at it.

"Look." whispered Leni.

"Hurry and catch it before it runs away." said Lana. Leni nods as she takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Eevee, hitting it, and sucking it in; they all watch as the pokeball wiggles before a firework shoots out from it.

"You did it, Leni!" said Lola.

"Yaay!" said Leni as she picks up her new Eevee's pokeball. Lana looks at Eevee's research paper and notices that one of the tasks on it was giving Eevee food.

"We did two of the tasks." said Lana.

"We are good at this." said Lola.

"Why did Oshawott's body became covered in water when it tackled that Ponyta?" asked Leni.

"Maybe it was a new attack?" suggested Lana.

"Let's ask the professor when we see him." said Lola.

"Good idea." said Leni. Lola goes over to the Apricorn tree they saw earlier and lets out her new Ponyta; once she does, she has it knock some Apricorns loose, then gathers up the ones that fell.

"Here, Lana." said Lola as she hands the Apricorns to Lana. "Make some more pokeballs we can use."

"You got it." said Lana as she takes the Crafting Kit out of her satchel and gets to work.

"I hope we find some more cute Pokemon." said Leni.

"I want my own Eevee." said Lola.

"Me, too." said Lana as she was working on another pokeball.

"Let's look around some more." said Leni. They all start to look the area for more Eevees.

With Lynn Jr and Lucy, they were having Lynn's Rowlet use Gust on a Wurmple which knocks it out.

"That's another Wurmple beaten." said Lynn Jr.

"And you've beaten some of those Bidoofs also." said Lucy.

"And I want to know what was up with those leaves that Rowlet just launched at one of them." said Lynn Jr.

"So, what now?" asked Lucy.

"Let's head back to Professor Laventon." said Lynn Jr.

"Did we do enough stuff?" asked Lucy.

"Maybe for now." said Lynn Jr as she looks at the sky to see the sun was starting to go down. "We should just head back."

"Fine." said Lucy. They all head back to the camp to see their siblings, along with Akari and Rei, were already there, giving Professor Laventon notes, and telling him about everything they saw.

"This is amazing progress!" said Professor Laventon. He then tells Lincoln and Lucy that the electricity that Shinx used on a Buizel was an attack called Thunder Shock, the watery tackle that Leni and the twins' Oshawott used was a move called Aqua Jet, and that the leaves that Rowlet used was an attack called Leafage.

"We're glad to be of assistance to you, Professor Laventon." said Lisa.

"You people are really good at this." said Rei.

"We might actually be able to complete the pokedex with your help." said Akari.

"I think you're all ready for an increase in rank." said Professor Laventon.

"Rank?" replied Lori.

"It's a way of measuring your standing among the other Survey Corps members." said Professor Laventon. "Right now, you're all zero-star members which is the lowest rank. As you add more information to the pokedex, you will rise in status."

"What does that get us?" asked Lola.

"Access to new recipes for items you can create with your Crafting Kit, as well as increased payments for your work." said Professor Laventon.

"We're being paid?" asked Lola with interest.

"You don't expect to endanger yourselves out here for free, do you?" asked Professor Laventon. He reaches into his suitcase and pulls out a wad of gold objects which he hands to the group.

"What's this?" asked Lori.

"That's pokedollars." said Professor Laventon. "It's the currency in this part of the world."

"Oh." said Lori. She then divides it amongst her siblings.

"Shall we return to the village?" asked Professor Laventon. The siblings nod and they all return to Jubilfe Village.

Once they arrive, they all head for Galaxy Hall; when they get there, they go inside and head for Captain Cyllene's office.

"Greetings, everyone." said Captain Cyllene as she looks at a file she was holding.

"Hello, Captain." said Professor Laventon.

"What progress have you all made on the pokedex?" asked Captain Cyllene.

"Thanks to the fine work of our newest recruits, I have successfully completed the pages on Bidoof, Wurmple, and Starly so far." said Professor Laventon. He hands the updated pokedex to Captain Cyllene who looks it over.

"Excellent work." said Captain Cyllene. She reaches into her desk and pulls out eleven gold, star-shaped, badges.

"What are those?" asked Leni.

"Each badge represents a level in rank." explained Captain Cyllene. "So far, since you all have one badge, your rank is level one."

"Okay." said Lori as she and her siblings pin their badges to their chests. They soon leave Galaxy Hall; when they were outside, Lori walks over to the guard who asked for a Wurmple and hands the one she had to him.

"Thank you so much for this." said the guard. "I'm hoping to evolve this into a Beautifly."

"What's a Beautifly?" asked Lola.

"Allow me to explain." said Professor Laventon. "A Wurmple will evolve into either a Silcoon, or a Cascoon; each of those forms has a different final evolution."

"Fascinating." said Lisa.

"A Silcoon will be the one to evolve into a Beautifly." said Professor Laventon.

"Then I hope my Wurmple evolves into a Silcoon." said the guard. He then reaches into his satchel and pulls out several small honeycombs.

"What are those?" asked Luan.

"Dazzling Honey." explained the guard. "It can be used to make certain objects, or at least be used to lure out wild Pokemon."

"That can be useful." said Lincoln. The guard gives the siblings the Dazzling Honey and goes about his business. Lori looks around and sees the woman who requested to see the complete pokedex page on Starly.

"Professor, can I see the pokedex for a minute?" asked Lori.

"I suppose that would be okay." said Professor Laventon as he hands over the pokedex. Lori then goes over to the woman and shows her the page on Starly.

"So male and female Starlies have different appearances?" asked the woman. "And the markings on their foreheads are different sizes? I had no idea!"

"Is this enough?" asked Lori.

"Yes; thank you for letting me read Starly's pokedex entry." said the woman. "Now that I know more about it... I imagine I might finally bring myself to touch a Starly!"

"Would you like to see the one I tried showing you before?" asked Lori.

"That would be splendid." said the woman. Lori takes out her Starly's pokeball and lets her out of it to let the woman see it.

"What do you think?" asked Lori.

"The smooth curl of the feather on its head...Those lovely round eyes... Oh, it's lovely through and through! I adore it down to the last feather!" said the woman.

"Would you like to touch her?" asked Lori. The Starly turns towards the woman who looks at her with fright.

"NOOOOO!" shouts the woman as she quickly backs away. "I-I think I'm quite satisfied just looking at it after all. I'm worried it might let loose a move."

"Maybe you can work up to touching it someday?" suggested Lori.

"Yes, but not today." said the woman. "Here's something for your trouble." She hands Lori ten pokeballs. "I was hoping to use those to capture a Starly for myself one day, but maybe I'll wait; in the meantime, you can have those."

"Thank you." said Lori. She then returns to her siblings and Professor Laventon.

"I have another facility of the village to show you." said Professor Laventon. He then brings the Loud siblings over to a large area that was fenced off.

"What's this place?" asked Luan.

"It's a pasture for Pokemon you've captured." said Professor Laventon. "We try to limit all Survey Corps members to have a maximum of six Pokemon with them."

"Yeah, I would guess having to watch over dozens of them would be too much for a person to handle." said Luna. Lincoln looks back at his Pokemon that were following after him.

"Can I leave my Bidoof here?" asked Lincoln.

"Of course you can." said Professor Laventon. Lincoln leads Bidoof into the pasture and lets her into it.

"What are you going to do with your Buizel?" asked Lucy.

"I feel a connection with him, so I'll keep him with me." said Lincoln as he rubs his new Buizel's head, making him smile. Everyone sees that it was getting dark out.

"We should grab some dinner and go to bed." said Lori. Everyone nods in agreement. They all head to the Wallflower to grab something to eat; once they ate their fill, the Loud siblings head for the houses they've been using.

In Lincoln, Luan, and Leni's house; the three were on their futons, ready to go to sleep. As Luan gets under her covers, she notices Lincoln's Pokemon were all sleeping with him.

"Why do you have your Pokemon out with you, Lincoln?" asked Luan.

"I figure it would be more comfortable then being cramped in small balls." said Lincoln as his Shinx snuggles against him.

"I guess that would be true." said Luan. All of Lincoln's Pokemon make themselves comfortable around him.

"I hope we can remember more about ourselves soon." said Lincoln.

"So do we, Linky." said Leni. Soon, everyone drifts off to sleep.

What other things will they experience as their adventures continue and they try to regain their memories? Wait and find out?
