Family Reunion
On the ocean on the Hau'oli City beach, Lincoln was riding on Lapras to do some fishing, along with training his new Phantump; during the training she learned Feint Attack.
Right now, the two were looking at a small, blue, manta ray-like Pokemon that Lincoln caught; he was holding his Rotom Phone towards it to see what it was.
"Mantyke, the Kite Pokemon. It's highly friendly and easily tamed. Tours that take people swimming with Mantyke are a super-popular beach activity." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Okay, Phantump; use Tackle!" said Lincoln. Phantump floats at the Mantyke and rams into it; it responds by striking her with one of its wing fins, doing super effective damage. "Quick, use Astonish!" Phantump floats towards the Mantyke with her back turned to it, when she was close enough, she quickly turns around with a scary expression on her face, startling the Mantyke, and making it flinch. "Now use Feint Attack!" Phantump floats cautiously towards the Mantyke, then strikes it when she was close enough. Lincoln then quickly takes an empty pokeball from his backpack, and throws it at the Mantyke, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture.
"Yes! I caught Mantyke!" cheered Lincoln. As Mantyke's pokeball disappears to storage, he looks up its information on his Rotom Phone. "This says my Mantyke is a boy, he knows Tackle, Bubble, Supersonic, Bubble Beam, Confuse Ray, and Wing Attack; he also has the Water Absorb ability which makes water attacks heal her instead of harming him."
He then returns Phantump to her pokeball and decides that he did enough training for now and starts heading back to shore.
"CANNONBALL!" a voice screams out before something suddenly splashes into the water in front of him.
"What was that?!" said Lincoln. A few seconds later, a boy wearing purple trunks that Lincoln recognized as one of his cousins, Shiloh, pops out of the water and spits some out.
"That was a good one, Dad!" said Shiloh as he looks toward the shore, making Lincoln look there to see his Uncle Lance wearing navy blue trunks, his Aunt Sharon wearing a light purple swimsuit, and his other two cousins, Shelby who was wearing a pink one-piece swimsuit, and Shane who was wearing magenta-colored trunks.
"What can I say?" asked Lance as he flexes one of his arms. "All those arm curls really helped." Sharon then notices the Lapras that Lincoln was riding on behind Shiloh.
"Shiloh, baby; be careful, one of those Pokemon things is right behind you." said Sharon.
"Hey, there's someone riding it." said Shane. Sharon takes out a pair of binoculars from a duffel bag that was on a beach towel near him and looks through them to see a familiar face.
"Is that Lincoln?" asked Sharon. Shiloh looks behind him and was surprised to see the Lapras looking at him, but then he notices Lincoln riding it.
"Lincoln?!" said Shiloh.
"Hey, Shiloh!" said Lincoln.
"What are you doing here?" Shiloh asked Lincoln.
"I was going to ask the same thing." said Lincoln. He looks at the shore to see Aunt Sharon, Shane, and Shelby waving at him; but Lance was frowning while looking around. (a/n: This fanfic takes place before the events of the 'Twas the Fight Before Christmas episode.)
"Hey, cuz!" said Shane.
"Hey, everyone!" Lincoln replied. He then reaches his hand out to Shiloh who grabs it, allowing Lincoln to pull him onto Lapras.
"It's great to see you in person!" said Shiloh as he hugs his cousin.
"Ditto." said Lincoln. "How about a ride back to shore?"
"Sure." said Shiloh. The two ride Lapras all the way back to the beach and hop off once they reach the shore. Lincoln was greeting by a group hug from his aunt and other cousins.
"It's so good to see you, Lincoln." said Sharon.
"We missed you!" said Shelby. Lincoln notices Lance frowning while looking away.
"Hello, Lincoln." said Lance in a sour voice.
"Honey, there's no need to talk to Lincoln like that; he had nothing to do with what happened five years ago." said Sharon. Lance lets out a sigh and looks at Lincoln with regret.
"I'm sorry, Lincoln." said Lance. "It is good to see you."
"So, where's the rest of your family?" asked Sharon.
"Yeah, I want to avoid your dad as much as possible." said Lance with a frown.
"Actually, I'm the only member of my family here in Alola." said Lincoln, surprising his relatives.
"It's just you here?" said Sharon. Lincoln then explained to his uncle, aunt, and cousins about how Luan tried to mail him to Aunt Ruth as an April Fools prank but ended up in the Alola Region by mistake.
"I can't believe Luan would do something like that to you, cuz." said Shane.
"I can." replied Lincoln.
"Well, I'm glad you got here in one piece." said Sharon.
"I was pretty banged up in the trip here, but yeah, still in one piece." said Lincoln.
"So, how are you doing in Alola now, cuz?" asked Shane.
"Great." replied Lincoln. He explained to his relatives about how he enrolled at the Pokemon School and how he's doing the Island Challenges to compete in the Alola League.
"Wow; sounds like you're having quite the adventure." said Sharon.
"Can we see your Pokemon, Lincoln?" asked Shiloh.
"Sure; I don't see why not." said Lincoln. He tosses his pokeballs and releases his Pokemon.
"Wow." said Shelby. She walks to Lillipup and pets his head. Shiloh walks over to Rockruff.
"Watch those pebbles around Rockruff's neck, Shiloh, they're sharp." said Lincoln.
"Okay, Lincoln." replied Shiloh as he scratches Rockruff's head.
"Are these Pokemon of yours getting plenty of exercise?" asked Lance.
"I spend most of my time when I'm not at Pokemon School training them." replied Lincoln.
"It's always good to get a good workout." said Lance as he flexes his arms.
"What brings you all here to Alola?" Lincoln asked his relatives.
"We're here on vacation." said Sharon. "We'll be here two weeks."
"That's awesome!" said Lincoln. "That'll give us some time to get all caught up."
"Wanna show us around the city, cuz?" asked Shane.
"Sure." said Lincoln. He waits for his relatives to get their stuff together, with Lance wearing a white muscle shirt and navy blue shorts, Sharon wearing a light purple t-shirt and dark purple shorts, Shane wearing a magenta shirt and tan khaki shorts, Shelby wearing a pink shirt and green plaid shorts, and Shiloh wearing a purple shirt and black shorts; and gives them all a tour of Hau'oli City; he shows everyone all the sights; such as the mall, the restaurants, the stores, including Alola Sunrise that Sharon took an interest in, and the front of the Pokemon School that was closed for the weekend.
As they head down the road, Lincoln hears a familiar voice calling out to him.
"Hey, Lincoln!" Mallow's voice calls out, making Lincoln and his relatives look to see Mallow, Lillie, Alola Lana, Sophocles, and Kiawe all running over to him.
"Alola, everyone!" said Lincoln. When his friends reach him, they notice his relatives standing behind him.
"Who are these people?" asked Lillie.
"Who are they, Lincoln?" asked Sharon. Lincoln then introduces his relatives and friends to each other.
"It's nice to meet you all." said Mallow.
"It's nice to know that Lincoln made some friends here." said Sharon.
"So, what are you all up to?" asked Alola Lana.
"Just giving my relatives a tour of the city." said Lincoln.
"Mind if we join you?" asked Sophocles.
"I don't have a problem with that." said Lincoln. As they were about to head off down the street, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rings and flies out of his pocket, surprising his relatives.
"What is that?" asked Shelby. Lincoln then tells his relatives about how a Pokemon merged with his device and became his Rotom Phone.
"That is so cool!" said Shiloh. Lincoln turns on video chat to see his family in the Loud house's living room.
"Hi, son!" said Lynn Sr.
"Alola, Dad." said Lincoln.
"What are you up to, sweetie?" asked Rita.
"Believe it or not, Uncle Lance and his family are here in Alola." said Lincoln, surprising his family back in Royal Woods, along with putting a frown on Lynn Sr's face.
"Really?!" replied Lori.
"Dude, you get to hang out with our cousins that we haven't seen in person for five years?!" asked Luna.
"I'm just as surprised as you are." said Lincoln. His relatives look at his Rotom Phone screen to see Lincoln's family; making Lance frown when he sees his brother.
"Hello, Lynn." said Lance as he looks away with his arms crossed.
"Lance." Lynn Sr replied with a frown.
"When did you all get to Alola?" asked Rita.
"Yesterday evening." replied Sharon. "We came here for a family vacation."
"Wish we could afford a vacation like that." said Lola.
"Big family, small budget, sweetie." said Rita.
"Has Lincoln shown you around the city yet?" asked Lori.
"He was doing that when you all called." said Shane.
"Did he show you the Alola Sunrise store?" asked Leni.
"He did, and Lincoln bought me this." said Sharon as she shows them a necklace around her neck.
The families talk to each other to get caught up with each other a bit before ending the call.
Lincoln then takes his relatives over to Iki Town and introduces them to Kahuna Hala who currently has his hands locked with Lance's in the center of the town stage as they try to force one another back; after a few minutes, the two finally let go.
"Man, you're strong!" said Lance as he rubs his hands.
"Age is just a number, young man." said Kahuna Hala. They all have dinner together before Lance's family decide to head back to their hotel room.
"So, can we hang out together soon?" Shirley asked Lincoln.
"We can meet at the Pokemon School after classes are done." said Lincoln.
"Maybe you can show us around?" suggested Sharon.
"Sure, I don't mind." said Lincoln. "Classes are done at two o' clock."
"We'll meet you then." said Shane. Just then, Lincoln sees a green, spider-like Pokemon with yellow and black legs, red mandibles, and a horn on its head, walking over to them.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Spinarak, the Silk Spit Pokemon. With threads from its mouth, it fashions sturdy webs that won't break even if you set a rock on them." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"That is so cool." said Shiloh as he looks at the picture. When Lance sees it, he freezes up, then looks over and sees the Spinarak near his feet, looking up at him.
"AUUUUGGGGHHH! SPIDER!" shouts Lance as he hides behind his family.
"Is your dad afraid of spiders, too?" Lincoln asked his cousins.
"Yeah." said Shane. After a minute, the Spinarak walks back into the jungle; Lance lets out a sigh of relief.
"Never saw a spider that big." said Lance.
After another family group hug, Lincoln and Lance's family say goodbye for now, and head back to their lodgings.
Later that night while Lincoln was in bed, he couldn't help but be excited by the fact that he gets to spend time with his relatives.
"The next two weeks are going to be so amazing." said Lincoln.
