Edward Mulhare
Although there are "some people" who knew nothing, but insisted that Edward didn't like children, they imparted that spurious "fact" long after Edward was dead and gone. He could not answer such a slur. Here is another example of just how kind and wonderful he was with kids.
This incident was observed by a reporter while Edward was filming a 'Streets of San Francisco" episode (Tower Beyond Tragedy) October 1972
THE "GHOST" of "The Ghost and Mrs Muir" series, Edward Mulhare, was the picture of the relaxed but dedicated British thespian. During a take, he came on, just like a heavy should. But during breaks, talked about cameras and photography, trying to make me feel at ease.
He saw my Minolta camera and related an incident that happened when he was in Russia with a new camera. As soon as he got away from any repair facility, his camera refused to work especially when he wanted to photograph something that wouldn't be there later.
Without his beard, he would be hard to recognise, but a close look and you knew, he was someone you knew well. When he was done with his takes, waiting for lunch, he sat in the back of a police car, eating sunflower seeds, talking to as many kids as could cram themselves into the car with him.
Another fact for the Knight Rider followers
Edward was visiting his family in Cork. It was at the height of KR. Some excited little boys recognised "Devon" and ran over to him in the street. Edward sat on a wall surrounded by these little boys asking him a thousand and one questions. He answered each question patiently. Facts are facts. I rest my case. Edward Mulhare was a wonderful, caring human being.
