Chapter 4: Meeting Festivities

"My name is Rias Gremory, it's nice to meet you." Rias said, smiling friendly, her hands folded together under her chin as she rests her elbows on the desk.

Jiro looks at her for a second assessing her greeting. "Like wise, now why did you summon me here?" Jiro asked, Bluntly.

Rias's eyebrow twitched. "Strait to the point eh? Very well, tell me Jiro, do you believe in the supernatural?" Rias asked with a sly grin.

"Yes I do, in fact, I'm very aware you two are devils." Jiro said matter of factly. Rias and Akeno look at Jiro eyes wide in surprise.

"H-how did you know...?" Rias asked completely taken aback. Jiro looks completely calm as they look at him.

"Because nothing gets passed me, and I've met your kind before." Jiro said looking between the girls. "Well I guess that saves us of an explanation." Rias said recomposing herself.

"Yeah, but I have one question." Jiro said, making Rias look at him expectantly. "Go ahead. Ask away." Rias said.

"...Why is your "knight" and "rook" hiding behind those curtains?" Jiro asked, pointing between two curtains on opposite sides of the room from each other. Rias and Akeno are once again wide eyed shocked.

"H-how...I...uhh." Rias then sighed knowing she can't lie. "There's no use hiding anymore, come out you two." Rias said, then Kiba and Koneko emerged from behind their respective curtains.

"Now then Jiro, the main reason I summoned was to offer you a proposition." Rias said, getting back back on track. Jiro looks at her in anticipation, although he has a feeling he knows where this is going.

"First proper introductions. As I said, my name is Rias Gremory, the heiress to the house of Gremory, and the "king" here." Rias then gestures to the others in the room. "These are my servants. I'm sure Akeno introduced herself, while you walked here, she's my "queen". This is Kiba Yuuto my "knight", and Koneko Toujou my "rook".

Jiro looked between them as they all nodded in greeting, then he looked back at Rias. "Since you know about devils, and refered to Kiba and Koneko by their positions, I'm sure you already know how the evil piece system works." Rias asked, to which Jiro nodded in response.

"Well then Jiro as for your proposition, would you like to become my servant as well? I'd be happy to have you." Rias said, looking at Jiro expectantly while smiling.

"Are you asking me to join your peerage?" Jiro asked, to which Rias nodded. "That's correct, I am indeed asking you to join my peerage." Rias said still looking at him expectantly waiting for his answer.

"No way." Jiro said bluntly. Rias looks at him, surprised, and shocked at his blunt rejection. "What, you're declining my offer?! Why is that?!"

"Because I have no interest in being some devil's slave." Jiro said bluntly, deadpanned with an eyebrow raised. Rias looks at him somewhat insulted his reasoning.

"W-what do you mean slave?! A peerage is a privilege not slavery, and being a part of one is a great honor!" Rias said, correcting him.

"Yeah, a "privilege" for the master, not the slave, and who would feel honored by having their freedom stolen." Jiro retorted. Rias looked at him in irritation, and was about to retort back but Jiro turns around.

"Well anyway, I ain't joining your joining your pack of slaves, and if that's all you wanted to ask...see ya." Jiro said as he turned, and started walking to the door to leave, but Rias stands up from her chair, slamming her hands on her desk, and calls out to him. "Hold on, you can't just leave, I know you're not human, but I don't know what you really are. Notorious gang leader aside, I can't just let you roam my territory without knowing if you're a threat or not!" Rias said loudly but not yelling.

Jiro stops in his tracks his back facing Rias. "Tch, Is that right. So you can't leave me be, but I don't see you doing anything about the fallen angels in your territory." Jiro said slowly turning his head to look at her over his shoulder making her widen her eyes slightly.

"Kiba and Koneko was it? You think I don't know...that those two were watching as that fallen angel girl "asked me out"? They weren't even bothering to properly hide their presences." Jiro said, making all the devils eyes widen in shock, especially Kiba and Koneko finding out, they were easily spotted.

Before Rias can speak up Jiro turns around fully, and keeps speaking. "And further more, "can't let me roam your territory", what exactly makes this your territory? You think just because you're a high class devil you can just waltz in, and claim a whole town as your property, and enforce the rules, without the inhabitants consent or knowledge...in a world where almost everyone in it doubts your kind even exists." Jiro said, glaring at Rias as he speaks his mind.

Rias is stunned into silence eyes wide at Jiro's words but again before she could respond Jiro, again is the one who speaks first. "I'll have you know I was born and raised in this town, and because this is "your territory", I can't walk freely, or potentially get kicked out of my own home, just because some devil princess says so? You're out of your damn mind." Jiro said, finishing.

The room falls silent as the four devils look at Jiro eyes wide struggling to find the words to respond to his speech. After a few seconds Jiro speaks up. "Hmph anyway, if you aren't gonna back down in getting me to join your peerage..." Jiro said, then he suddenly appeared behind Rias's desk as though he teleported, standing right in front of her, his face inches away from hers, with his hands in his jacket pockets, glaring down into her eyes as he continued his sentence.

"...why don't you try, and make me join little princess?" Jiro said, with a threatening smile, his red eyes glowing as he released some his aura, and power, drastically heating up the room. Noticing Jiro's sudden changed position in the room, Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko, despite their fear, and shock as the room heats up, take fighting stances, ready to defend their master.

Rias looking up at him shivering in fear, her heart racing, and body sweating profusely from the heat of his aura, stands there for a few seconds as he glares daggers into her eyes. Eventually Rias backs away, kicking her chair back from behind so she doesn't trip, and puts her hands up signaling that she surrenders. Seeing this Jiro brings his aura down, letting the room cool down, and walks back around her desk.

"Hmph, I see you're not too proud to know when to back down in the presence of someone clearly more powerful then you. Anyway see ya." Jiro said as he walked back to the door passing Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko, who dropped their fighting stances, and moved, avoiding Jiro as he passed by, their eyes never leaving him. But before Jiro can leave Rias calls out to him again.

"W-w-wait." Rias said in a shaky voice, her heart still racing. Hearing this, Jiro stops in his tracks again. Jiro sighed. "What do you want now?" Jiro asked, turning to look at her over his shoulder again.

"I...um...I know you said...y-you didn't want to...j-join my peerage but...c-could you at least...h-help me with something important?" Rias asked nervously, stuttering like mad. Jiro looked at her over his shoulder with an eyebrow raised.

"Which is?" Jiro asked awaiting her request. Rias looks him still shaking from his display of power, and intimidation as she then speaks up. "W-well m-my mother and father are f-forcing me into a p-political marriage with someone I-I absolutely hate, b-but I refuse to go through with it. S-so I was hoping if y-you could maybe, um, h-help me get out of it?" Rias asked hopefully.

Jiro looked at her over his shoulder for a few seconds. While he wasn't keen on helping devils, he did in fact hate arranged marriages, believing one should only marry out of love, and not political gain."...I'll consider it." Jiro said as he turned his hear back around, and continued walking.

Rias watched as he left, and breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing his words "R-really? Thank you." Rias said with a relieved smile.

"Hmph, whatever." Jiro said as he walks through the door, and closes it behind him, leaving. After Jiro left, the four devils look at the door for a few seconds, feeling as though they could breathe again, and trying to gather their thoughts on the meeting.

"He was...scary." Koneko said, speaking up first.

"Very scary, I may be a bit into S but...even I'm shaking in fear from seeing the look in those red eyes, and his arua." Akeno said, still shaking slightly.

"Jiro Natsuo...just what in the world is he?" Kiba asked remembering the heat of his aura.

Rias looks at her servants, sensing their lingering fear. "It's fine everyone, he's gone now, so you can calm down. But you're right he's very scary, I see why he's leader of that infamous gang, and why the other students fear, but on the bright side, at least he said he'd consider helping us." Rias said making the others look at her.

Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko nodded with a sense of relief. "Anyway, we should do something about those fallen angels he mentioned, but first we have a stray devil to deal with tonight." Rias said to her servants addressing them to get ready.

"Yes ma'am" they all said in unison with determined looks on their faces.

The school day ends, and Jiro walks home, sensing a large demonic presence on the edge of town, but decides not to approach it just yet, all the while rias, and her peerage prepare for a fight. The fallen angels, and stray priests hiding out in the town prepare for a ritual with a nun, they have yet to find. As all the other parties conduct their business a certain young girl with chestnut colored hair tied in two pigtails, violet eyes, and a silver cross necklace around her neck, approaches the entrance to kuoh town, carrying a large suitcase, and backpack.

"Ahh it's good to finally be home, I've missed this place so much. I'm so happy the higher ups gave me permission to live here again. Alright I start school tomorrow morning, but right now I should find a motel to stay in for the time being. I wonder if he still lives here...I hope I can see him again. I bet he changed so much." The girl said as a small blush forms on her cheeks, a sense of longing in her eyes.

Now then, time to address something I'm sure you all are wondering "why is Rias and her peerage the student council? Where is Sona and her peerage?"

I hope this doesn't trigger most of you reading this but I had made the decision to exclude Sona and her peerage, as well as her sister Serafall from the story. Why? Simply put I just couldn't really find anything for those characters to actually do within the story, on top of that I wanted the main cast to be more diverse, simple, and less cluttered making it, easier to follow, and focus on them, and their individual fight.

Regarding the reason in detail Sona and her peerage in my opinion, they don't really do much in the canon story. I know Sona, Tsubaki, and Saji kinda help during the Loki arc in season 3, but other than that, they're usually just watching and commenting on other characters fights, and created a barrier around the school in the 2nd season during the fight against Kokabiel. Hell the character Sona doesn't even make a single appearance in season 4 of the anime. For Serafall it's basically the same reason as Sona and her peerage plus you can't just exclude Sona and include her older sister can you. Ergo I don't think they would be useful for my story and plot I have planned so I chose to exclude them from the story for now, but if I think of way they could be useful I might reconsider my choice and have them appear.

I hope these changes and my reasons doesn't turn any of you away from my fanfic, those are just my personal preferences as for the writing of this story but feel free to tell me what you think by leaving a review.
