Third POV:
As the five Quincy walked through door One, the entered a large room similar to a shooting range.
The room was rather wide. The back had targets and practicing dummies with several being used by other people. There were several people with the same uniform as the girl at the front desk holding clipboards and writing stuff down.
"Hello, how may I help you?" A man with black hair wearing glasses came to them with a clipboard.
"Yeah, hi, we're here to validate being wizards to form a Guild or whatever," Askin explained lazily with a smile.
"Alright," the man wrote something on the clipboard and motioned for them to follow him. "Come, let's see what you got."
The man guided them to the start of one of the target ranges. "Is your magic long-range, short-range, support, defensive, or other?" He asked.
"Long-range," all five answered almost at the same time.
The man blinked but still wrote down their answer. "Okay... You'll each be asked for a quick demonstration. Just one spell should suffice. We'll have to wait a few moments for a turn. We test new forces recruitment here as well, so it's usually crowded."
There was a man taking a test in front of them. He pointed a his hands forward and a magical circle appeared in front of him. The Quincy all looked at fascination as this was their first encounter with this world's magic.
The Magical circle shot a large fire ball that struck a wooden target with a bullseye. The target was hit and exploded into fire.
"Impressive," the man with the glasses said, looking at the test. "He might make a squad commander with that."
"... That's supposed to be Impressive?" Bazz B couldn't help but ask. He knew Thompson told them this world's standards were low, but he was still surprised.
The man taking the test seemed to have heard him. "Oh yeah, I'd like to see you do better, pinkie."
"The hell did you just call me!?" Bazz B yelled, taking a step forward.
"Woah! Easy!" Askin immediately got in front of him and raised his hand. "Let's not burn this place down, okay? Just show him off, okay?"
Bazz B kept glaring at the man who walked out of the place. "Alright, who would like to go first," the employee asked.
"Let me show you what REAL fire looks like!" Bazz B immediately stepped forward in the spot the previous test taker was standing in. He reeled back his hand, as if ready to throw something, while holding out one finger. "Burning Finger, One!"
Bazz B threw his hand forward and a powerful, thin stream of fire shot to the target, hitting the bullseye, coming out the other way, and tore a whole in the wall behind.
The employee jumped and the people around stopped what they were doing to see the smoking hole that Bazz B created in the target and wall.
While the other Quincy, except Gérard, looked at Bazz B in a mixture of exasperation and disappointment, Bazz B himself looked rather proud of the reaction he got.
"Uhm... W-Who's next?" The employee got over his shock.
Bazz B walked back to the Quincy. "Think you can top that?"
"What are you? A child?" Liltotto stepped forward. "I'm going next."
As Liltotto stepped forward and raised her hands to create a bow and arrow from Spiritual Energy, Bazz B called her out. "What? You know you can't best me, short stuff?"
Liltotto's eyebrow twitched. She lowered her hands, her previous intention abandoned. Instead, her mouth moved, grew and morphed into a large jaw filled with sharp teeth.
The mouth devoured her target alongside a small portion of the wall behind it. As her mouth returned to normal, Liltotto ignored the shocked and fearful looks around and just spat out a stone.
"Geeze, do you people know what 'hold back' means?" Askin questioned before stepping forward. "Guess I'll go next."
"Ah. R-Right," the employee jumped and took a step back, expecting Askin to be as destructive as the previous two.
Askin, however, simply raised his hands and created a bow of Spiritual Energy. Taking aim, he pinched a Spiritual string and shot an arrow at his target, striking the bullseye.
"See, that wasn't so bad," Askin stated as he stepped back as his bow and arrow vanished slowly.
Jugram stepped forward next and simply repeated Askin's actions. He raised his hands, created a bow from Spiritual Energy, and shot an arrow that struck the target dead center.
The last to remain was Gérard. "Stand back," he ordered as he stepped forward.
The people around listened and took a few steps back. Gérard, like Askin and Jugram, raised his hands and created a bow of Spiritual Energy, but his was much larger.
Pulling back what is closer to a big log rather than an arrow, Gérard took aim and took the shot. As soon as the arrow touched the target, the arrow exploded. Both the target and the whole wall behind it was reduced to nothing as smoke covered the back of the room.
"Ha! Looks like I win!" Gérard exclaimed with a laugh as Bazz B and Liltotto glared at him.
Askin, meanwhile, shook his head with a hand on his face. "Didn't Tommy say not to blow something up? What happened to holding back?"
"Gérard IS holding back," Jugram commented, standing besides him.
"... Oh, right, forgot he's a freaking monster," Askin stated.
First POV: Thompson.
... I'm gonna ignore the fact that the building just shook and hope -well, more like prey- that it has nothing to do with room One.
Meanwhile, I was finishing up the test. It wasn't really hard. Most of the questions were either questions about the rules, or true and false for certain specific clauses.
At the ending though, there were a few open answer questions. Such as 'how would you react when a Guild member breaks one of the rules' and other similar questions for different situations.
Nothing really too hard. After finishing up, I got up and took my paper to the test overseer. "I'm done."
The man lowered his paper and looked at me. He blinked a few times and raised an eyebrow. "It's only been thirty minutes. This is a two hours test."
"I'm a real fast reader and writer," I answered, giving him the paper.
"... Alright," the man hesitantly took my paper and gave it a quick look. "Well, you're in luck. Since you're the only one testing today, I should finish grading this in a few minutes. Just wait in your seat."
I went back and sat down. I just... drummed my finger on the table. I honestly had nothing to do beyond just sit an wait.
After about fifteen minutes, the man spoke. "Congratulations, you passed with flying colors," the man called for me and I got up and walked to him. "Here. Give this to reception, and you should be all set to start your Guild."
He handed me a card that said 'Wizard Guild Administration Test: Passed'. "Thank you," I said before walking out.
When I did, I found the five Quincy standing with a guy in the same uniform as the rest of the employees with an addition of glasses. He was holding a clipboard and looked like he couldn't wait to clock out.
"Are you guys done?" I asked.
The man turned to me and spoke before any of them. "Are you the one who's going to be their Guild Master?"
"Uh... Yeah," I replied.
The man looked back at the Quincy for a few seconds before turning to me again and placing his hand on my shoulder. "I'll be rooting for you. May the Gods have mercy on your soul."
"O... kay..." I couldn't help but mumble and watch as the guy walk away. "What did you guys do?" I immediately asked.
"Nothing you have to worry about... at least for now," Askin replied, which really didn't ease my feelings. "How was your test?"
"Done," I showed them the card. "Let's go get our Guild," we walked back to the reception and I stood in front of the table. "Yeah, hello, we're done."
"Already?" The receptionist girl asked taking the card from me. "Huh. Impressive. This is actually a new record," the girl wrote down something. "Believe it or not, only one person managed to finish the test this quickly before. It was some girl from like, a hundred years ago," she then handed me a blank piece of paper and a pencil. "Please draw the symbol of your Guild here."
Taking the paper, I set on the table and began to draw. It wasn't really hard or difficult. I just drew a five pointed cross with the center being thin while the ends looked whide. If you drew a line connecting the ends, it would make a perfect circle.
The receptionist took the paper after I handed it to her and placed it on the table with both her hands above it. "Wood Make: Stamp!"
A magical circle appeared on the paper and a stamp was formed directly above the drawing I made. But, a distinct feature was that it lacked a handle, and in its place appeared to be some kind of hole for something to be clicked there.
The girl took out a handle from under the table with a small crystal attached to it. She placed it on the stamp with the crystal going into the hole, and there was a 'click' as she turned it around.
"Here you go. Congratulations! You just started your own wizard Guild!" The receptionist handed me the stamp. "Twisting the handle will let you decide what color you want the Guild mark to be. If you wish for a Guild mark to be removed, hold the stamp over it for ten seconds."
"Alright. Thank you very much," I took the stamp.
"One last thing," the girl spoke again before I can even turn around. "We need to make note on where you plan to set your Guild's base at."
"Oh, uh," I thought about it and I didn't know what to say. I wanted it to be somewhere FAR away from trouble, so it should be as far away from Fairy Tail as I can make it.
Before I can answer though, a screen popped up.
Magnolia.
... Of course. Why the fuck not!?
"We'll be stationed at Magnolia," I answered the girl.
The girl blinked at me and looked concerned. "Are you... sure? Magnolia already has a very powerful and well-known Guild. Starting there will be... difficult."
"I know," I couldn't help but groan. "I guess you can say I'm... fulfilling a promise that I made on my life."
I wasn't even lying. I was fulfilling something with my life on the line. It definitely wasn't a promise though.
"Ah, you must have it rough," the girl looked at me with sympathy. "Well, I hope things work out for you."
"Thank you for your time," I said as I turned around and finally let out a sigh of annoyance when I was too far for her to hear me.
So much for avoiding Fairy Tail.
