Kellie and Jason's House
Carly went back in the house to find Jason pacing in the kitchen.
"I called Sam, Lulu, Maxie, and Olivia," Carly said, "None of them have heard from her yet. I checked with Michael. He hasn't either. He offered to see if Kellie had been in touch with Dante, Kristina, or Molly."
Jason nodded in acknowledgement but continued to pace.
"I should have known better than to let Sonny have any kind of conversation like that here at the house," Jason said, "But when he showed up unannounced, Kellie wasn't supposed to be home for a few more hours. I figured it was just better to get it over with. If I had known…"
"Jason, just slow down and breathe," Carly said, "Do you need me to be the one to count to ten?"
Jason glared at Carly.
"We're going to find your wife," Carly said, "Then you can tell her yourself you're not going along with Diane or Sonny's idea of this deal with the feds and then make sure Kellie never has any reason to think you'd make a choice like that again."
"I get why she'd think that," Jason said, "She knew enough of our friendship and history to."
"And there was a time, you would have done it no questions asked," Carly said, "But I think we both know that's not you now. It's not your responsibility to save me from my mistakes. We both know Sonny hasn't been the same since Nixon Falls. I certainly don't want to risk another mob war. I know that's exactly what will happen."
"Yeah," Jason said, "I'd have to ask Kellie to help run things right now if that happened. I can't ask that of her, to accept me leaving like that and then to take part in the business. I mean she's capable."
"But it was never what she wanted," Carly said as Max came in.
"Any updates?" Jason asked.
"Sage and Milo haven't heard from her," Max said, "They said the kids could come over for dinner and a sleepover when they're done with school and their activities."
"Kelsey's with Charles," Jason said.
"I already called to tell him to drop Kelsey off there," Max said.
"Good," Jason said.
"Francis called Lorenzo, he's going to check the foundation offices and Kellie's studio," Max said, "Other places around town. So is Johnny."
"I'll go check some of the places we go riding," Jason said.
"Take Max with you," Carly said, "He can drive."
"Carly," Jason protested.
"You're distracted and on edge," Carly said, "It's not negotiable. So don't even think about arguing with me."
"I won't," Jason said.
Sage and Milo's House
Sage opened the door to let Charles and Kelsey in. Kelsey was hugging a teddy bear with a motorcycle jacket and boots. Milo was standing behind her.
"Hi Kelsey," Sage said, "Raphael and I have cookies and milk in the kitchen."
"With sprinkles?" Kelsey asked.
"Of course," Sage said, taking Kelsey hand as she chattered to about the animals at the zoo and showed Sage her new teddy bear.
"What exactly is going on?" Charles asked Milo, "Why did Kellie take off like that?"
"All I've gathered is it's something about her overhearing a conversation between Jason and Sonny," Milo said, hesitating, "I guess it had something to do with the possibility of Jason and Sonny going to prison to get Carly's SEC charges dropped."
"Well is that a possibility?" Charles asked.
"According to Max, Carly and Jason are adamant it's not," Milo said, "The problem is no one knows what Kellie heard and she just took off without a word. I'm surprised she didn't just confront Sonny and Jason right then."
"That's usually what we'd expect," Charles said, "But it is her marriage possibly on the line among other things, so who knows."
"Yeah," Milo said as he and Charles proceeded to stand in silence for a few moments.
"Well, I have to pick up Claire from her art class," Milo said, "Jared, Jamie, and Alyssa should be here soon. You're welcome to stay for dinner, Uncle Charles."
"Normally, I'd take you up on that," Charles said, "But I think I'll try to look for Kellie and see if maybe she'll respond to my call."
"I figured," Milo said, "The offer still stands if things change."
Kellie's Self-Defense Studio
Lorenzo stopped by the studio a second time after not finding Kellie elsewhere or hearing from her. He found Jason unlocking the door, Max beside him.
"Still no word," Lorenzo asked, with an underlying irritation.
"No," Jason said as he opened the door. He, Lorenzo, and Max went inside.
"What in god's name were you thinking," Lorenzo growled at Jason, "Seriously, even considering being willing to go to prison like that after what happened last year with the families."
"That's exactly what I told Sonny," Jason replied, "Which I'm guessing Kellie probably didn't hear that part."
"Well she's still missing now," Lorenzo said, getting in Jason's face, "If we don't find her in one piece or something happens to her, I'm holding both you and Sonny responsible."
Jason looked as if he might be ready to push back when Max stepped between them.
"This won't help anybody," Max said, "Or find Kellie. More than likely, she's probably holed up some place none of us would think to look for her and will contact us when she's ready to talk."
"Is everything alright in here," Sam asked, approaching them, "I saw the door open and the light on. I thought I'd check."
"We were just checking to see if Kellie was here again," Lorenzo said, "But she's not. So I'll be leaving now. Morgan, if you hear from her, let me know."
"Of course," Jason said.
"I haven't heard from her," Sam said to Jason as Lorenzo left, "I'll let you know if I do."
Jason nodded as Sam turned to follow Lorenzo out.
"Dad" Sam said, catching up outside, "Are you okay? It seemed pretty tense in there."
"Well, I can't say I'm happy with Jason that the idea of him going to prison for Carly was even brought up," Lorenzo replied, "Usually, she keeps contact with me unless she's following a lead. Then usually law enforcement is involved eventually. But this…"
"Reminds you too much of when she left Port Charles and tried to divorce Tyler years ago," Sam said, "But in that case you were the only one she kept in touch with."
"If she didn't want to be found, I'd respect that," Lorenzo said, "She couldn't just let me know she's okay."
"She got caught off guard, Dad," Sam said, "I know she knew that there was a possibility of a situation where Jason would put Carly first and it was bound to happen sooner or later. But this is the first time it's really been tested. She has to contemplate the reality of it. She just needs to time sort it out. I don't think she's left town. I think she's off by herself trying to figure out how to face it. When she's ready, she'll…"
"Give Jason hell," Lorenzo finished.
"Or something like that," Sam said, "Come on, I think I need to get you a drink."
A road outside of town
Charles sat in the back of the SUV while his guard drove back to the safehouse. He looked at this phone, his texts and calls to Kellie unanswered.
Charlies looked out the window, watching the road when he caught a glimpse of a motorcycle abandoned on the side of the road.
