Chapter 8: The origin of Glaciar the Betrayer

Danny had just finished his phone call with his parents and returned to his friends and sister.

"Okay. Mom and Dad just wanted to check and see how we were doing, that's all..." Danny said.

"I'm practically an adult already, they should trust me already, yet they still feel the need to check up on us like we're still kids..."Jazz muttered, since she felt she was too old for this.

"Parents are always going to see their kids as kids, no matter what happens. It's not like it's unexpected..." Star said with a sigh, since her parents are the same way.

"Okay. Let's try and not keep interrupting this story every five minutes. It's starting to get repetitive..."Jazz complained, since it had begun to become a routine thing at this point.

"Hey, we're not doing it on purpose..." Star pointed out, while her boyfriend sat next to her.

"Okay...now...let's see...I was still undergoing that insane training from Glaciar..." Danny recalled.

"And I accidentally got sent to the Ghost Zone and ran into Frostbite...and he told me the truth about our so-called skating instructor..." Star said, frowning as she recalled what had happened.

"And during that time, I was getting another "free" skiing lesson from Baylor. Big mistake..."Jazz said, irritated as she now wished she hadn't before she continued with the story now.

Story

Jazz had just finished her skiing lesson with Baylor and now they were hanging out. They went to get some cocoa and pastries, even some candy bars for later. As they did so, Jazz's ski instructor began to try and charm her again.

"I must say Jasmine. You have improved tremendously on the slopes. Much faster than expected..."Baylor said in a charming way.

Jazz blushed at that.

"Thanks Baylor. I got to admit, this was a lot more fun than I thought it be..."Jazz said, a little bashful.

Baylor then stared off in the distance for a brief moment, then turn to Jazz with a confident grin. A grin that told more than she initially realized.

"So...Jazz...I was wondering...the ski resort is showing a classic film marathon tonight and I wanted to know...if you wanted to watch it with me..."Baylor offered.

"You mean like a date?..."Jazz asked, pleasantly surprised.

"Not like a date. A date..."Baylor said, flashing that smile of his at her.

"Yes! I...I mean...yeah...sure... I don't think that I'll be busy by then..."Jazz said, hoping she didn't sound too eager.

Baylor smiled at her again.

"Great. I'll pick you up at sundown and we can walk to the screening..."Baylor said as he soon left to go in the same direction where he stared off in the distance earlier, but Jazz didn't seem to notice at the time.

Jazz swooned a little.

"Best ski trip ever..."She said dreamily, getting excited for her date later and unaware that things would end in a sour note.

Meanwhile

Stella had left Pierre at the resort's daycare hours ago and had spent the afternoon trying to ice skate and keep her mind of her personal issues.

"I can't believe that Jean-Luc had to call to complain that Colette is being fussy again. I know that he's still stressed because of that mess, but he can handle things for one week without me. He's not that useless..."Stella thought, trying to ignore her frustrations as she focused on just her spins and twirls on the ice.

Once she was done, she wondered what she should do next.

"Okay, I got a while until it's time to pick up Pierre from daycare. What else can I do?..."Stella said, since sundown wasn't that long away since it was wintertime, and the sun sets earlier around that time.

Meaning Stella has some time to herself until it's time for her to pick up her son. Still, she wasn't sure how to spend her time now.

"Maybe I can see if Star and Danny would like some pointers for ice skating...or maybe see if Johnathan was busy right now?..."Stella asked herself.

The blonde woman was considering what to do next but soon spotted something up ahead that made her stop in her tracks. It was her ex-husband Johanthan, who was now in a deep lip lock with Solene behind a tree. Neither were aware of her presence as they were still kissing like they were lovestruck.

Stella felt strange and felt something in her chest break apart that she wasn't aware of...at seeing that and before she realized it, she was running...er...walking quite fast in another direction. Far away for some reason too.

"Oh...uh...I never did get a chance to take a hike near here. I hear it's lovely on this path. Very lovely indeed..."Stella said to herself as she kept walking and acted like she never saw the awful...I mean...weird sight of watching her ex-husband kissing another woman.

Even if she has already seen it before.

"Everything is fine...everything is going to be fine. I'm sure of it..."Stella told herself, trying to keep her mind of what she saw and focus on the little hike she decided to take right now, totally on a whim and no other reason at all.

All the while, unaware that she was heading in a certain direction that will certainly take her mind off of what she saw earlier. The blonde woman continued to hike, not yet realizing that tears were falling from her face that she tried hard to ignore.

Present Time

"The only reason that was mentioned in the story was because it will all have something to do with something that will happen later in the story, so just wait and hold all your questions about certain scenes until the very end. It'll happen when it happens..."Jazz said, still looking bitter about Baylor for some reason.

She was ignored and the people who weren't there when those events all happened just shrugged, but some had questions too.

"So, your mom decided to take a hike for no reason?..." Misty asked, since that was how Star worded it.

"I was surprised too, since Mom isn't usually the outdoorsy type and taking a hike seemed a little random...but that's apparently what happened..." Star said, unaware of what actually happened with her mother and just saying how she heard it.

Although Star had her own theories of what might have really happened, but she's going to keep those thoughts to herself. It wasn't her business, but she figured her mom had no reason to lie.

Right?

"Moving on..."Star said, as she continued to tell them about what happened when she encountered Frostbite in the Far Frozen.

Back to the Story

Star had just run into Frostbite and his warriors, and they just revealed something shocking to her. That Glaciar was not just lying about being their ally, but that he also lied about being on a mission to being the Chalice of Cold to Frostbite.

"When I get my hands on that jerk, I'm turning him into a rug! How dare he not only ruin our ski trip, but also lie to us! I am SO gonna punch him as soon as I see him!..." Star said, while the ghostly chief tried to explain to her how serious this situation is.

"My young friend, you don't seem to realize just how serious or dangerous Glaciar the betrayer is! He is very tricky and willing to do anything to get what he wants! He is NOT someone to underestimate!..."Frostbite said, as he began to tell her the truth of the ghostly yeti who claims to have been his friend.

Star looked worried now.

"What's his deal? I know he's a liar at least. But what did he do to earn the title of betrayer?!..."Star asked, worried.

"He told us that he was your friend and brother in arms, but clearly that's a lie! I still can't believe we bought such a lie at face value!..." Star said, looking angry as she muttered that.

However, to her surprise, Frostbite's angry face soon turned into a sad one and his warriors looked awkward now and she wondered if there was more to that story than what she assumed.

"Frostbite...what happened? Exactly who is Glaciar?..." Star asked, knowing there is more to that story than she initially thought.

"As I said...he's a traitor to our tribe...but long before that...he was one of us...and my best friend..."Frostbite said, as he led Star to their village.

"Seriously? That wasn't a lie?..." Star asked, surprised to hear that.

"No...at least, not in the beginning..."Frostbite said, knowing that he had a lot of explaining to do and he knew the best way how.

He brought her to a nearby hut where more of his soldiers were. He pulled out what looked to be a stone box with symbols that were similar to the ones that she saw from the strange key that brought her here earlier. Frostbite placed his icy hand on the stone box, causing it to glow a very light shade of blue and unlocked the stone box.

"We don't have long, so I guess it would be easier to show you what happened than just talk about it..."The chief of the ghost yeti's said.

"Show me?..." Star asked, as he wondered what he meant.

Frostbite then pulled out what looked to be an icy globe with glowing teal ecto-plasm trapped within it. Star found it beautiful, while Frostbite continued to explain to her what it is.

"This is an ecto-memory crystal. It's very rare in the Ghost Zone and it can be used to relieve memories of the past in a manner of seconds...though it won't exactly feel like that to those who experience its effects. Since while about 30 seconds might have passed out here...the experience could feel like an hour..."Frosbite explained.

"Really?..."Star asked and the yeti ghost nodded.

"Indeed. Don't ask me how it works since that will take too long. Anyway, now you and I must both venture into my past if you want to see the full story about Glaciar..."Frostbite said in an urgent voice.

Not wanting to waste time, Star did as she was told and soon an aura surrounded both her and Frostbite and watched as the space around both of them seem to Freeze in place and began to rewind backwards in time.

Present Time.

"Wait...ecto-memory crystals? They actually exist? I thought they were only a myth..." Misty said, having read about them from her family's scrolls.

"Well, they are real in the Ghost Zone, and they work. It's like I was there but not there. It was like being in a virtual reality...only that stuff already happened..." Star said, before she continued with the story.

Back to the story

Star blinked as she and Frostbite were now outside.

It was snowy and the winter landscape didn't seem all too different from what she recalled. Even so, she like as if was in a new world or like she was in the middle of a virtual reality video game.

"Where are we?..." Star asked, as she looked around.

"You mean WHEN are we? We are in my memories from long ago. Back when I was but a young cub..."Frostbite said as he pointed up ahead.

Star looked ahead and saw several warriors of the far frozen going about their daily lives...and saw what looked to be little versions of them playing in the snow and even some using their powers to enhance their wintertime fun.

One of them in particularly looked the biggest the size of a bear cub compared to the slightly smaller sized of the Far Frozen children around him and he seemed familiar to Star too.

"Frostbite? Is that you as a kid?..." The blonde girl asked with a gasp, and the chief of the Far Frozen nodded.

"Indeed, that was me about 1,500 years ago. Back when I was just a little cub who was only just learning how to use our ice powers and before I lost my baby fangs..."Frostbite said, as Star saw his younger version and the other Far frozen children playing in the snow and some practiced using their ice powers in their snow games.

They were much smaller and not muscular compared to the adults...and Star couldn't help but compare them to teddy bears dressed in their leather armor/clothing with how they look.

"Aw, you all look so cute!~..." Star gushed, as she found the baby Frostbite to be cute like a teddy bear.

The leader of the Far Frozen looked annoyed now.

"Warriors of the Far Frozen are NOT cute! We are mighty warriors trained from birth in the ways of our people's customs, and learn to fight for honor and to prove out superiority as warriors!..."Frostbite said, while his younger self was currently playing in the snow and acting quite childish.

He and the other cubs all played and even let out small high-pitched roars, while others were eating fruits and snacks in what could be described as a cute way that Star found endearing.

"Awwww!~..." Star gushed, as she clasped her hands together. "It's like watching a bunch of baby bears playing!..."She gushed, finding it adorable.

Frostbite sighed, before he continued.

"Moving on. We did not come here to witness my past self playing in the snow with such little care of the greater world outside of the Far Frozen..."Frostbite said as he tried to redirect the situation back to the main topic.

Such as Glaciar.

Present Time

"You actually saw Frostbite when he was a little kid?..."Sam asked with a giggle.

"A cub, but yeah..."Star said with a giggle.

"How cute did he look?..."Jazz asked, since she didn't hear this part of the story yet.

"Like a giant teddy bear dressed in his tribe's usual armor..."Star said, before she continued with the story.

Back to the story

Frostbite and his guest continued to watch the events of his past.

Star soon saw the little Frostbite making a snowball, but he was soon hit by one. They then saw another child of the Far Frozen having thrown it, one that was smaller and scrawnier compared to the rest and he had a mischievous look on his face.

Little Frostbite had a determined look on his face and quickly made his a few of his own snowballs and threw some at his new opponent in this game. The two yeti ghost children began a snowball fight and chased each other before rolling down a hill. Their little "battle" ended with the smaller yeti tripping as some snow caved in and caused him to roll down a small hill and got completely covered in snow, while little Frostbite smirked.

"Looks like I win again, Glaciar..."The future chief said with a victorious smile.

"Oh please, the hill did all the work. Plus, if I was more cautious of my surroundings then I wouldn't fallen, and I'd eventually find a way to win our game..."The little Glacier said, but smiled showing there were no hard feelings.

Little Frostbite helped him up and little Glacier smiled, before he threw another snowball at him and caused both yeti children to loss balance and fall over on each other. The two just ended up laughing together and playing in the snow. The mood surrounding the two ghost yeti children felt light, carefree and joyful. Some even threw snowballs at Little Frostbite and his friend and challenged them to a game.

"Okay, help me up. It looks like Iceberg and Flurry are looking to challenge us to game too..."The little Frostbite said, as the children prepared for "battle".

Soon, they continued to play and teamed up when other yeti children tried to beat them at their own game. Star saw this and was surprised by what she had just witness.

"Wait...you actually were friends with Glacier? I thought that was another lie from him?..." Star said, surprised to see this.

"Even a dishonest person is still capable of telling the truth at times. I am embarrassed to say it, but Glaciar truly had once been one of us...and was my best friend..."Frostbite said, but still had something of a nostalgic smile on his face as he watched his child self continue to play with whom was once his best friend.

Star was silent as she continued to hear the ghost yeti talk about his past with Glacier.

"Even if not by blood, we had once been brothers in arms. I was once his right hand, and he was mine. I trusted him with my life...and for a long time, I thought that he felt that way too..."Frostbite said solemnly, as he stared at his own icy arm again.

Star was surprised but Frostbite then did some strange signs with his hands and soon the memory changed to show a later time that day, he even changed the subject of their conversation too.

Star saw more children of the Far Frozen playing outside or practicing their ice powers, while the adults supervised them.

"It is rare when ghosts have children in the ghost zone...but when it does happen, especially for my people, we treasure them more than the Infi-map itself and do our absolute best to properly educate them in our ways and traditions in order to make them warriors worthy of our tribe. Some warriors even mentor the younger generation in hopes of passing on their knowledge..."Frostbite said, while Star was surprised.

"Wait...ghosts can have kids? I thought...I mean...aren't you guys-..." Star paused, not sure how to say that.

"Many ghosts have indeed once been human, but my people have been here since the dawn of the Ghost Zone. Since the Infi-map had been forged to be more precise. We are born and we live. we thrive to better ourselves in order to show a greater example for future generations to follow..."Frostbite explained, and Star listened closely actually fascinated by this as the yeti ghost continued.

He then pointed up ahead and Star saw more ghostly yeti children playing in the snow or with adults whom she assumed was their parents. They all looked like they were happy and having a great time together.

"Every few centuries...several littlers of cubs can be born to my people and as you can see, I was one of the healthy ones and I was the youngest of our people ever to develop my ice powers early, making me a prodigy in the Far Frozen's ways..."Frostbite said, as his past self was in the middle of demonstrating his abilities, using his ice powers and hitting each target without any trouble.

"However, Glaciar was the runt of his litter and was considered an outcast among our peers when we were young. He was always the smallest and most sickly and even after he developed his ice powers, they weren't exactly something to brag about. Needless to say, he was viewed as a weakling...and that shamed his pride, making him all the more determined to prove everyone wrong...no matter the cost to himself or others around him..." Frostbite said, as they saw little Glaciar trying to practice his ice powers but could only make small ice cubes at the most in a pitiful manner.

The other yeti ghost children saw this and started making fun of him. Mocking his efforts and even telling him to give up already.

"You are such a runt, Glaciar. Why are you even still trying if you already know that it's hopeless for you?..."One of the mean, older yeti kids mocked him, and Glaciar looked upset as they continued to taunt him.

Some of them even threw snowballs at him, and not in a friendly way either. Star watched as little Glaciar was being picked on by some older ghost yeti children and she frowned, actually feeling sorry for him now.

"Okay. He might be a jerk as a grown up, but that's just not right for kids to pick on someone else...especially someone who can barely fight back..." Star said, since she hated bullies as they reminded her of Dash and Colette.

"I thought that too..."Frostbite said, as his younger self used his ice beam powers and push back the ones being mean to little Glacier.

"Three against one? How cowardly and dishonorable! All of you, back away from my friend! Now!..."Little Frostbite yelled, as he used his ice powers to protect his friend until the adults showed up to break up the fight.

"Stop this, all of you! What is the meaning of this?!..."One of their mentors yelled and Frostbite was quick to explain the situation and the teachers looked at the troublemakers who started the fight in a scolding manner.

"You children are all in the same tribe. You must learn to fight together as future warriors of our tribe. Not against each other. Remember, a single warrior can turn the tide of a battle..."One of their teachers said, before they took the troublemakers away to be scolded by their parents.

"Huh...even the teachers here are better than the ones at Casper High..." Star commented, as Glaciar and Frostbite were sent to the infirmary to check and see if they were okay.

Thankfully, they were since it had just been snowballs that they threw at each other, but little Glaciar still seemed sad, even after the medic told him he was alright.

While little Glacier had always been grateful to his friend Frostbite for always looking out for him. It still did help his insecurity of being viewed as the weakest amongst the rest of his peers. Little Frostbite wasn't aware of this, but he still went to go check on his friend, who looked sad.

"Are you okay?..."The young yeti ghost asked and his friend sent him a flat look.

"Sorry, standard question but seriously? Are you alright? What's ailing you, friend?..."Little Frostbite asked, worried since this isn't the first time this has happened.

"I can't keep doing this, Frostbite. Why am I so weak? No matter how hard I try on improving myself, it all just seems wasted at the end. I'm the smallest of our entire tribe and even my ice powers are laughable. Do I even have a place in our tribe?..."Glaciar asked, looking sad and feeling like an outcast.

"Glaciar, do not listen to those fools. You are brilliant and I know that you will do amazing things for our tribe one day. I know it, you're too smart not to find some other way too outclass the others..."Little Frostbite said in a determined way, knowing that his brother in arms has greatness hidden somewhere deep inside him.

"You're the only one who thinks that my friend. No one believes in me but you...I'm nothing like the others...I'm just nothing...maybe it'd be better if I left..." Glaciar said, looking depressed and miserable.

"Don't say that my friend. You are a member of our tribe, and we need you. You may not see the true strength within you, but I do and one day you will prove your true worth in our tribe. I just know it..."Little Frostbite said, as he tried to console his friend.

Star saw this and frowned, actually feeling pity for him right now.

"Okay. Now I really am starting to feel bad about mini Glacier..."She thought as the young Glaciar kept talking to his friend about his troubles.

"Do you really think a runt like me can make any sort of difference in our tribe?..."Little Glaciar asked, looking sad.

"Glaciar, you were born with the highest IQ anyone in our tribe has ever seen. I'm sure with enough training, you can do anything. Leave your mark on history and make our tribe proud. Heck, you might even become chief one day for all we know one day..."Little Frostbite said, unaware of the irony in his words.

"Chief? A runt like me? Come one Frostbite, there's no need to pull on my leg that much..."Little Glaciar said, thinking that his best friend was greatly over exaggerating Glacier's potential.

"You're very smart and loyal to our tribe, Glaciar. I know you'll prove those fools all wrong. I just know it deep within my core..."Little Frostbite said, while his friend smiled.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Frostbite. And ya know, if I ever do become chief, I'll make you my second-in-command. Promise..."Glaiciar said, feeling better about himself now.

Little Frostbite chuckle.

"Wonderful and I'll be sure to do the same if it's the other way around..."Little Frostbite said, while his friend chuckled.

"Glaciar and Frostbite...your brawns and my brains...the unrivaled duo..."Glaciar said, smiling.

"I know that together, we can do anything..."Little Frosbite said, also smiling.

"Yeah, we'll become a force that no one can defeat. True warriors of the Far frozen unlike anything anyone has ever seen..."Glaciar said with a happy smile, showing his fangs.

"That's the spirit. Now come on. They are going to be serving mutton for lunch and I'm starving..."Little Frosbite said as he led his friend to go get some lunch with him, unaware that Glaciar hadn't moved for a while before he went to join his best friend.

"Did you really mean what you said back then?..." Star commented, as the older Frostbite sighed.

"I truly did believe in that my friend had that potential...but that was so long ago..."He said, as he did more hand signs, and the scene changed to another time.

Frostbite and Glacier looked only slightly older now and were hiking along an icy mountain range. They also looked upset about something too.

"This is cruel and unusual punishment. Why do we have to be the ones to gather the newest shipment of gargantuan meat and NOT get to eat it?..."Young Frostbite complained, while his friend rolled his eyes.

"It's a punishment and your fault too. I told you we'd get caught if we tried to sneak into old man Tundar's meat locker, but noooo...you thought with your stomach and you just had to dragged me along with you in your hare-brained plan..."Glaciar said, clearly blaming his friend.

"You matched me, morsel for morsel. And I certainly didn't hear you complain after you stuffed your face with all those turkey legs..."Young Frostbite rebutted, pushing Glaciar lightly in a playful manner.

"Turkey legs?..."Star questioned and Frostbite laughed in an embarrassed way.

"Yes, I was young once and had a habit of getting in trouble back in my youth. You know the old saying, cubs will be cubs..."Frostbite said with a chuckle as they continued to watch the memory.

Glaciar pushed back, knocking Frostbite into the wall good naturedly. Which continued onward for a good couple of minutes until both of them burst out laughing in a brotherly manner and that was even loud enough to cause some echoes within the area.

"Let's just gather the rest of the meat and head back. This place can get quite dangerous after sunset..."Glaciar complained.

"Agreed..."Little Frostbite said.

Unbeknownst to the two young ghost yetis, from high on top of one of the snowy mountains of the Far Frozen was resting a sleeping elder ghost dragon. One that had been resting there since the founding of the Ghost Yeti tribe, sleeping with its many treasures of rare minerals and plants scattered everywhere inside the elder ghost Dragon's resting cave.

However, the echoes of laughter caused the elder ghost dragon to slowly raise one of its eyelids in a very drowsy state. Making the elder ghost dragon gently lift itself standing on all four limbs, then slamming itself back on the floor of its cave to return to its slumber.

Soon the waking elder ghost dragon moved from its previous sleeping position, which caused a great Avalanche to fall from one of the Far Frozen's many snowy mountains to come tumbling downwards with pieces of blood blossoms that had fallen from its cave as well. It was a painful experience.

"Glaciar!..."Little Frostbite called out in concern.

His friend kept running. They weren't worried about the snow or dragon since even though they were still young, they could handle it. However, he soon spotted something even more alarming that was mixed within the snow.

He saw something that horrified him since it was something even the mightiest of ghosts could never handle, regardless of origin or how powerful any ghost was.

"Blood blossoms?! Oh no!..."Glaciar shouted, panicking.

What?! Blood Blossoms!? Who in their right mind would even plant Blood Blossoms in the Far Frozen in the first place?!..."Young Frostbite loudly asked, but they both kept flying as fast as they could to avoid them.

The avalanche itself rapidly snowballed into a large Tsunami of raging snow falling from the mountains with the dangerous anti-ghost plant mixed within it. And it was getting closer to young Frostbite.

"Frostbite!..." Glaciar warned, rushing blindly to help his friend.

Little Frostbite tried to get out of the way, but his foot was caught in a crack, fearing this is where his existent would end, but someone pushed him away and in the nick of time.

It was Glaciar, who used one of the wooden stakes as leverage to quickly get Frostbite's foot unstuck within seconds. Soon enough, both were freed and ran for their lives to find somewhere safe to hide and take cover from the tsunami like snowfall.

Glacier then immediately found a nearby cave and dragged his friend with him to safety. He then quickly told Frostbite to create the largest and thickest wall of ice to block the entrance of the cave to protect them from being buried alive from all that snow and to block out the affects of any nearby blood blossoms.

It worked and they both managed to survive by the skin of their teeth.

"That should do it..."Glaciar said as he looked around.

"Good news, I see some other tunnels on the other side that can lead outside. It's best we go through their if we want to avoid those awful blood blossoms effects..."He said, while his friend who hasn't said anything yet.

"My friend...are you alright?..."Glaciar asked, ignoring his own injuries.

Young Frostbite looked at him with astonishment and shock. Putting a hand on his brother in arms shoulder and staring at him in disbelief.

"Glaciar...you saved me..."Little Frostbite said, seeing that his best friend has just as many injuries as he does, yet still has enough strength to help him.

His friend just nodded, avoiding eye contact as he spoke.

"Well...you...always helped me with those jerks back home and I always felt a little ashamed for not being able to return the favor until now..I...I figured this makes us even now..."Glaciar said, looking sheepish now but Frostbite pulled him into a hug.

"No, we are not. I owe you my existence, my friend. If not for you, I would be no more. For now on, you will always have my trust and faith...my brother..."Young Frostbite said, hugging his friend.

Glaciar was silent for a moment, before hugging him back. He even shed a single tear, before quickly wiping his face so that his brother didn't see him cry out of joy or think any less of him. Little did he know that Frostbite did notice, but simply kept it to himself.

A certain blonde girl witnesses this memory and was speechless to say the least.

"Glaciar saved you?..." Star said in a surprised tone of voice, having not expected this.

Frostbite sighed but had an almost smile on his face at this memory, as if he still held it fondly, while Star simply stared in surprise. Watching Glaciar the jerk save his old friend was something she did not expect to say that least.

"Even if he is a disgraced fool now, there was a time when Glaciar's heart was pure, and he truly had our tribes' best interests at heart. He and I became true brothers that day...and he was someone who I thought I could trust my life with..."Frostbite said, as he watched his childhood self and his old friend with tears in his eyes, which he quickly wiped away.

"Frostbite...we can stop if this is too much for you..." Star said, putting a hand on his arm.

"No, you need to see you need who Glaciar truly is. You need to understand how he turned out the way he is now if you truly want to know how to stop him..."Frostbite said, as they continued watching the memories.

That night, Glaciar was praised by the adults for saving Frostbite and it seemed that that the younger Glacier finally begin to see himself as a proud member of their tribe. The adults had also been informed of the Blood Blossoms and some tropes have been sent to get rid of it to avoid hazards like that in the future.

"Way to go, Glaciar!..."

"Well done..."

"I guess you truly do have what it takes as a warrior..."

Praise like this was heard several times. In that same moment, the young Glacier smiled the purest grin he had ever expressed, like he was truly proud of himself.

Frostbite then fast forward the memories a bit and Star soon saw the young yeti ghosts training under whom she thought was a previous chief of the Far Frozen, who despite his warlord appearance actually spoke is quite jovial.

He looked a lot like Frostbite did but had an eyepatch and a long white beard. The previous chief also had quite a few scars and bigger fangs that were visible, as well as wore a different cape that was a blue-purple and some of his armor had ghostly dragon bones tied to it. He also wielded two twin maces that were both made of ice and stone.

"Well done, boys. The both of you. You've done your duty as an honorable warrior of our tribe..."The old chief said, laughing in a hearty way as proudly slaps Glacier on her back.

The young yeti ghost looked proud of himself as he accepted the chief's praise. Young Glacier engraved this moment deep in his mind so that he'll never forget this feeling. The former runt of the litter was finally recognized but still looked even more determined to prove himself more than ever. Especially not that he finally saw his own talents and worth in himself today.

"Who's that?..."Star asked, curious as she pointed to the other yeti ghost.

"That was my predecessor. Chief Chill. He was a good man and was everything a chief of our people should be...strong...mighty...compassionate...and above all, honorable and loyal to our people..."Frostbite said, as he spoke with great respect of his predecessor.

"He sounds like a good man...uh far frozen yeti...whatever the word is..."Star said, worried she might have offended him, but Frostbite sent her a slight smile, showing no hard feelings.

"Far frozen warrior is fine..."Frostbite said, before he kept talking about his old mentor.

"Chief Chill always treated his warriors fairly. He gave credit where credit is due and always tried to be impartial and just. However, there came a time when he needed to find out who he would mentor, so he picked two young ones to become his protégés and learn what it means to be a leader. You can already guess who it was..."Frostbite said, as they all watched the memory of the chief approaching both young Frostbite and Glaciar to make them his apprentices.

"I was chosen because I was the strongest of my age group and had a lot of potential. Glaciar was chosen since, despite being weak physically, he was indeed very intelligent and among our peers, had the best scientific talent. That and saving me showed he had honor and potential to become something greater than what he wanted. Chief Chill saw potential in the both of us and for many years taught us all he knew and nurtured our talents..."Frosbite said, as he showed memories of Frostbite and Glaciar's training, while the previous chief watched and guided them both to the best of his abilities.

It was a montage of great bonding experiences for both young Glacier and young Frostbite. However, Star noticed that while they both trained and studied, Glaciar seemed less interested in training and more focused on books or making gadgets, while Frostbite did whatever the former chief ordered and improving on his own strength and powers of cryokinesis.

"I might not have been as adept as Glaciar when it comes to science, but I am no fool and I always made sure to do both my studies and training...but Glaciar, on the other hand, preferred studying science over his training and sometimes skipped out on training all together. No matter how many times I told him that was a bad idea..."Frostbite said.

"So, he was lazy?..." Star guessed, and the chief of the ghost yeti's sighed before he nodded.

"Kind of. He mainly focused on alternative way to improve one's strength. For him it was his mind, armor, tools, machines and mystical artifacts that he chose to improve than actually train on his own natural abilities. If only he followed the example of other runts..."Frostbite said, sounding disappointed.

"Huh?..."Star asked, as he explained further.

"There have been cases in our tribe where even the smallest runt could grow to become the mightiest warrior with enough hard work and Glaciar had that potential. I truly believed in him...in ways that he never did. The sad thing is that he could have avoided his current fate if he had just taken less short cuts to power...and valued honor more than protecting his own pride..."Frostbite explained as they continued to watch these past evens.

"What do you mean?..." Star asked, while Frostbite explained more.

"You will see soon..."Frostbite said, as he fast forwards more scenes that showed more memories while he explained more about his tribe's ways.

"In Far Frozen culture, strength is highly valued but the one thing more valued is honor. A warrior without honor is disgraceful and has no place in society..."Frostbite said, repeating this greatly valued lesson of his tribe.

It importance is a key pinpoint of to all the ghost yetis in the Far Frozen. Because if one acts without honor, than they the path ahead will only be less glorious.

Star continued to listen as she watched as more memories flashed of Frostbite and Glaciar's lives, them growing up and learning from both of each other and chief Chill watching over their training. Both ghost yetis had changed quite a lot in their respective appearances and was even starting to resemble their present selves but with several major differences.

"My training lasted over 10 years. It was hard, bitter work but it was all worth it...at least for me it was..."Frostbite said as he showed the memory of his younger self, now an adult, was looking nearly identical to how he is now but wearing different clothes and having both arms.

The same can be said of Glacier's younger self, now as an adult. He was just as scrawny and shorter like his current self is nowadays, but Star noticed that he seemed a little healthier and happier too. He also had both of this legs too.

Star wondered how it all changed but then she watched the two yeti's exchange a fist bump, which showed that they still viewed each other as the best of friends, even after all this time. Despite taking different path train their respective strengths and talents, it was obvious they still saw each other as friends here.

"So...you guys were still friends even now?..."Star asked.

'Indeed. Best friends. I even thought that it'd last forever..."Frostbite said in a glum way, as he showed more of their youth and the different paths they took.

"After I became an adult, I joined our people's military and quickly raised through the ranks, while Glaciar was in the science and strategic division and his strategic mind won us many battles..."Frostbite said.

"So that wasn't a lie either, huh?..." Star said, surprised she wasn't used to braggy villains being honest with their bragging.

However, after seeing most of Glacier's upbringing with her own eyes she can tell that Glacier is different from most of the villains she, Danny and their friends have faced against.

"Yeah, even if he didn't take the traditional path of a warrior, Glaciar's intelligence was great. Only problem is that his ego is greater..."Frostbite muttered, as more memories were shown.

Star witnessed many moments of Frostbite and Glaciar's youth, including the two of them on the battlefield against invaders from different realms from the Ghost Zone and on a frozen lake, peacefully competing with one another with their skills in ice skating. She was surprised that part was truth as well.

"For many years, we were all happy. Training under Chief Chill and fighting for honor and glory for our home. Glacier and I were an incredible duo that nearly nothing could stop. It was truly glorious time in my youth. Together, we could do anything..."Frosbite said, as more memories were shown.

Including many battles won and many new allies made, which guaranteed their people's safety and prosperity. Said allies of the Far Frozen were familiar faces and not so familiar faces, but Frostbite skipped those parts to the more relevant memories.

"Apologies for skipping over some of the fun memories, but this showcase is supposed to be about Glacier..."Frostbite explained quickly as he fast forward some more memories.

"As I was saying, we were the best of friends and were an incredible team. However, like all things it came to end during the winds of change..." Frostbite ominously said, as dark clouds formed in the sky as the memory continued and evil ghosts began to invade the land, causing the warriors to defend themselves.

"My people had been at war against the Ghost Kings forces for many years, and we had been part of the battle with the ancient ghosts to overthrow and defeat that scoundrel Pariah Dark..."Frostbite said, as he showed scenes of those horrible days of battle.

Star was stunned as she witnesses the historical event play out like a movie. And she would be enjoying it if not for the seriousness of the situation.

"If I had known I'd be watching a motion picture of someone's life with additional action scenes, I would've brought snacks and a drink..." Star thought to herself, as they continued to watch these past events.

"After the ghost king was defeated and locked away in the sarcophagus of forever sleep the first time, ages before you or the great one were born...a period of peace could finally be felt throughout the Ghost Zone...or at least, relatively speaking since the chaos of the zone. However, Chief Chill could no longer properly lead our people and needed a successor as he is no longer with us..."Frostbite said, sounding a bit sorrowful during the last part.

"Oh...I'm so sorry..." Star said, assuming that meant he passed on until Frostbite spoke up again.

"Oh, it wasn't so bad. He's happily enjoying his retirement, and he still sends me and my warriors' souvenirs from his travels in the Ghost Zone and Earth..."Frostbite said, cancelling Star's theory that his predecessor had passed on.

"Oh...right...I keep forgetting...it's different with ghosts..." Star said, feeling awkward now.

"As I said we're born, we live and we thrive much longer than humans do...give or take several thousand years longer...admittedly it does take us quite a long time before we fade and join our ancestors..."Frostbite said.

"Huh?..."Star asked.

"Not the time to go into detail about that. We are talking about Glaciar right now..."Frostbite reminded.

"Right. Anyway, what happened next?..." Star asked, wanting to the story about Frostbite and Glacier's shared past.

"Well, it was after my first millennium, that Chief Chill was ready to step down and choose a successor..."Frosbite said as his memory now showed what looked to be some sort of ceremony and with all of the Far Frozen residents present for the big historic moment.

Both the younger Frostbite and Glaciar were standing together, as the ghostly yeti chief slowly walked towards the both of them.

Glaciar was smiling with hopefulness while Frostbite glanced at his friend. To both their surprise, the chief of the Far frozen had selected Frostbite as his successor, much to Frostbite's disbelief.

"As you can see, I was chosen to be the successor and all of the Far Frozen cheered and praised for my success. ..."Frostbite said, as the memory showed him receiving the cape and the other yeti's all cheered and chanted his name in his honor.

All the other male warriors cheered his name, and the females all surrounded Frostbite and swooned over him. Everyone chanted his name and banged their fists against their chest. Everyone looked happy that Frostbite was finally recognized for his great strength and as the leader he was always destined to become.

All except Glaciar.

The memory soon showed what looked to be some kind of party, but Frostbite's younger self went to a hut, where a sulking Glaciar was. The younger Frostbite looked awkward as he approached his friend, knowing why he must be upset right now.

"I...can you believe? I never expected I was actually going to be chosen..."Young Frostbite said humbly, as he scratches the back of his head.

"Well...it's no surprise...you are strong...and that's what our people value most..."Glaciar said, patting him on the shoulder.

But Young Frostbite could tell from the look in Glacier eyes that what his best friend felt was...disappointment. And yet, Glacier tried his best to sound happy for his best friend.

"Glaciar...look...I..."He tried, but the other yeti ghost smiled at him.

"It's alright. I have the brains...you have the brawn...it's what made us a great team all of these years. With you as chief, I doubt many will argue against you the next time you ever send me out on any important missions..."Glaciar said as he trying to make jokes to hide his own inner sadness.

Young Frostbite tried to explain to Glacier that this didn't have to mean the end of his journey towards true greatness, but Glacier spoke up first.

"Frostbite, this is what was always meant to be. Even if we didn't know as children, you were always meant to become the strongest warrior of our people, and I was always meant to become the smartest. It's almost as if fate made it for us to be friends. Together...we are unstoppable..."Glaciar said, looking almost excited as he said this.

His best friend a little surprised at how well his brother in arms was taking all of this. He didn't seem upset to be honest.

"Yes...I suppose we are..."Frostbite said, thinking that his best friend truly didn't want the title of chief to prove his worth to the rest of their tribe anymore.

Glaciar then approached his friend and sent him a smile as he kneeled in front of him like a warrior would do for the chief.

"You are my chief and I, as a warrior of the Far Frozen, have a vow of honor to always serve you. But before that, you are my best friend and brother in all but blood...and no matter what happens, I will always be on your side and always do what is best for our tribe..."Glaciar said, as he kneeled in front of Frostbite, the new chief of their tribe.

Hearing this took a heavy burden off Young Frostbite's shoulders, as he looked glad to see that his old friend didn't seem upset about this and was still his friend right now.

"Thank you, old friend. It brings me great relief and pride to hear you say all that..."Young Frostbite said.

The two yeti's began to speak again and even started reminiscing on the past, including their childhood together.

"At least now I don't need to worry about pranks anymore as chieftain... hopefully..."Young Frostbite said like a joke, but his friend sent him a knowing look.

"Yes but if my memory is correct...the gravy in my closet, that was you're doing..." Glacialr rebutted, recalling that time from their youth.

"As it was you who filled my room with frantic ghost chickens the day before the Christmas truce..."Young Frostbite joked back the two laughing.

"True...but remember the old mutton fiasco after we got our adult fangs. That was your idea..."Glaciar reminded.

"You went along with it..."Young Frostbite reminded, while his friend waved it off.

"I only did the spooky voice. You're the one who put on a mask and costume and convinced Polar and Blizzard you were an untamable two headed ghost horse and chased after them..."Glaciar said with a snicker, before they both laughed heartily.

"Gravy? Chickens? mutton? Spooky voices? Horse?..."Star questioned, while Frostbite sent her a sheepish look.

"What can I say? We all do silly things when we are young. And I'll have you know that I have been long since been scolded and apologized for them..."Older Frostbite said, before he continued the memory.

He watched his past self laugh merrily with his old friend, both looking carefree right now.

"We really were troublemakers back then, weren't we?..."Glaciar said as he wiped away a tear from laughing so hard.

"Yes, we were. Better to have been one in our youth than to be one as an adult..."Young Frosbite said, as he smiled and looked to his oldest friend.

Young Frostbite then recalled his childhood alongside Glacier, which also reminded him of an old promise they made when they were both so very young. A promise that he still wanted to uphold.

"Then...let me ask you something...Do you remember what we used to say when we were cubs? That if either of us became chief, we'd make the other our second in command and would serve our tribe together?..."Young Frostbite said, causing his best friend to look at him with a shocked expression.

Glaciar gasped.

"Frostbite...are you serious?..."Glaciar said as his old friend went to get something he had just received from the former chief.

It was the most serious Frostbite had ever been.

"I would not joke about this to you, old friend. Not about this..."Young Frostbite answered, as he offered up his hand to his brother in arms.

He led Glaciar outside where everyone was, made an announcement and gathered the attention of every single ghost yeti in their tribe and proudly made his very first declaration by granting him a necklace with a special key tied around it, one that vaguely resembled the device that Star used to get here, only it didn't look like it was some machine.

The ghostly yeti chief then raised his best friend's arm, as he proudly promoted Glacier as his second in command before turning to the rest of the tribe.

"As my first act as the new Chief of the Far Frozen, I am proud to say that I choose Glaciar, my brother in arms and brother in all but blood to be by second in command and to become my advisor!..."Young Frostbite declared, while his friend still looked stunned.

"Let it be known to everyone that Glaciar is my right hand and shall help me lead our people into a glorious new era. His talents will certainly help our tribe one day reach a new record of peace and to accomplish this, I also grant him the key of the Far Frozen. So that where he goes, it will always lead him back to our home. Together, we shall lead our people into a glorious and prosperous future..."He announced, as his friend proudly wore the key that was very important to their tribe, which was an item that Star presumed was the same key that brought Star to the Far Frozen earlier, since its shape and design looked very familiar to her.

The other yeti's all cheered and seemed happy as they all congratulated Glaciar, as he looked happier than he had ever been before. The marked the newest happiest day of Glacier's life where he truly felt like part of the tribe.

"I will do everything in my power, to do what is best for our tribe, my brother..."Glaciar said as he accepted the position and everyone else cheered for him.

"Hard to believe this is the same guy..."Star thought, but then noticed the key that Glaciar had been awarded and couldn't help but find it vaguely familiar.

"That looks a lot like the key thing that I found in Glaciar's cave that brought me here..." Star said.

"It cannot be the same key as Blizzard is now in possession of it. Knowing Glaciar, he must have created an imitation in order to sneak past our security and to gather intelligence to spy on us..."Frostbite said, looking angry that he never realized this.

"That might explain how he might have found out about Danny and how he learned someone let out Pariah Dark..." Star said, as more pieces fell into place.

"My old friend was always stealthy. Too bad he wasted all that energy scheming instead of actually training and doing something constructive..."Frostbite said bitterly, as they continued to watch the celebration and feasting yetis as it was no ordinary party.

The celebratory festivities lasted throughout the night and soon Glaciar went to a nearby hut, still marveling over the key and title he has just received. The younger version of Frostbite then went to join him.

"So, this is where you went? Come along, my old friend. This is your party as much as it is mine..."Young Frostbite said in a jolly way.

"I will in a moment. I just...I'm still processing. I'm still amazed you would give me the key and title as second in command..."Glaciar said, still looking at awe as he admired the key he was awarded tonight.

"I can think of no one else more worthy of either, old friend. I gave my word. After all, I said long ago that you have the potential to achieve greatness and now you have the chance to prove it to everyone..."Young Frostbite said to Glaciar, who looked happy to hear this.

"Yes, I do. Thank you, my friend. It's all because of your faith in me that I have achieved the most glorious moment of my life. This is a day I shall never forget..."Glaciar said while the younger Frostbite hugged his old friend, and this time Glacier didn't bother to hide or wipe away his joyful tears.

"Do not sell yourself short. You have always been the brightest of our tribe, and I know that you will do great things for our tribe. Now let's start this brand-new era of our tribe together , my brother..."Young Frostbite said, smiling.

"Yes, brother...together...and I promise to do my absolute best to bring glory towards the Far Frozen, to my brother and our tribe..."Glaciar said, smiling wide before he went to join the celebration.

Young Frostbite smiled.

"I swear to lead our tribe into a glorious future and to protect our home, as well as make The Far Frozen proud. Our realm within the Ghost Zone will be like none other before it!..."He said, ready to begin this brand-new Era for the Far Frozen alongside his brother in arms, who has now officially become his right-hand man.

However, his older self had a sad look on his face as he relived this memory, as he wished that this promise that was made hundreds of years ago could've lasted.

"It wouldn't be until centuries later when I would learn that all those words from Glaciar...were slowly turning into lies..."Frostbite said, as he clenched his fists.

Star reminded silent, since she rarely ever saw Frostbite in this bad of a mood before. She said nothing as the ghostly yeti chief continued to speak.

"As you can see, what Glaciar said about having once been my right-hand man had been true. He might not have been the strongest, but he had a brilliant mind, and his weapons helped our people win many battles and saved our home many times from invading enemies. For many years, we both did our best to protect our tribe and Glaciar had truly earned the respect of our people, and I truly felt I could trust him and that he and I would always be there for each other. What a fool I was..."Frosbite said bitterly as he continues moving through the memories.

Star knew that this story was nowhere near over yet as the ghostly snow yeti continued to show more of his and his "old friend's" past together.
