A/N: This is the last of the series. I'm not sure I'll keep writing for Supergirl after this one. This will be my 18th story and I cannot thank my readers enough for all their support. I hope you enjoy this one. Thanks!

Chapter 1
"It's good to hear your voice my friend," Kara said to the person on the other end of the phone call. She was in her apartment for the night. It had been a long day at work and she was having a hard time finding the right words for her article.
"Sorry I took a little break there," it was Kate. The Gothamite hadn't called her for a couple of weeks since Mary had been committed.
"You had to do what you had to do. How's Gotham?" The blonde asked.
"Scared shitless. Apparently, I should have mentioned that I was friends with Wonder Woman sooner," Kate chuckled.
"Funny, the criminals here always seem to take me being here as a challenge," Kara frowned.
"I'm sure that once our good friend leaves it'll go back to normal. The doctor says my ribs are healing well so I should be back in action soon," Kate said.
"That's good to hear. How's your Dad doing?" Kara wondered.
"Oh, you know, throwing himself into work, not wanting to talk about the elephant in the room," the brunette heaved a sigh.
"My offer always stands you know. You need me, you let me know," Kara knew that the father/daughter relationship was tough to begin with given the way he felt about Kate's extracurricular activities, but having her half-sister in ARGUS custody, yeah that went over like a lead balloon.
"I know. You're a good friend but sometimes you just have to smack them upside the head and hope they wake up. Meantime, there are other people who need you," Kate told her.
"Just don't whack him too hard," Kara chuckled.
"Not to worry. Have a good one," the brunette said. Kara wished her well and hung up the phone. She heaved a sigh and left the couch to head for the fridge. She wasn't hungry but lately the consolation of the light in the fridge, which usually led to chocolate or some other dessert, had become a habit. The blonde was grateful that she didn't gain weight like humans did. Her search for dessert was interrupted by a knock on her front door. Heaving a sigh, Kara headed for the door and took a quick peek with X-ray vision to see who it was.
"Marie, it is good to see you. Though I'm a little worried that you are here so late," Kara gave her friend a smile as she let her in.
"Good to see you as well. I am sorry that I'm here unannounced," Marie told her.
"You're always welcome. Out for another long walk?" The blonde asked, fetching her friend a glass of water.
"Yes, I can't seem to get away from them," Marie nodded. Since her encounter with Enigma, the Amazon helper had been restless, and Kara figured it was because Hippolyta told her to live her life and to give up her undercover work.
"How's Todd?" Her friend asked, handing over the glass of water.
"Good, better than good, great actually," Marie admitted as they took seats on the sofa.
"That's great to hear. No residual affects?" Kara wondered.
"No and we've decided to move in together," her friend said.
"That's fantastic. Your place or his?" The blonde wanted to know.
"Mine. It's bigger so it makes more sense," Marie smiled but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Something is wrong. What's up?" Kara asked her.
"I… I feel adrift," the brunette admitted.
"Missing the missions?" Kara wondered.
"I don't think it's that simple. I mean don't get me wrong – the thrill of the chase, of knowing that I'm helping people, I do miss it. I really thought that…" Marie trailed off.
"That regular life would fill in any voids?" The blonde asked.
"It's odd because I never had anyone to come home to. It's a great feeling to have but somehow, I still feel that something is not right. I'm not sure how that could be," her friend said.
"Tell you what – I'll talk to Papa Bear. Maybe we can have you help out around the Tower or maybe we can call you and Todd in for consults? Something to keep you in the loop but not in harm's way," Kara offered.
"That might be the ticket," Marie nodded.
"Do me a favor first though – as much as I love our talks – talk to Todd. He probably gets this feeling you're having quite well. He is ex-DEO after all," the blonde winked at her.
"I forget sometimes just how lucky I am. I'll talk to him. Give Papa Bear my best as well as the rest of the squad," Marie smiled and stood up. Kara stood up and the two hugged.
"I'll do that. Let me know that you got home huh?" The blonde asked.
"Will do," Marie smiled.
