It was a bright mid spring afternoon and Bulma Briefs was sitting cross legged in her bedroom on the middle of the floor looking through old capsules she had stored away, wondering what keepsakes might be in them. Some contained old clothes and others contained parts from working on various abandoned projects. Some were from adventures long ago.
The blue haired woman paused and took a sip of her sweet peach iced tea her mother had brought her, before she eyed a small white velvet drawstring pouch with an embroidered violet flower. She ran her fingers fondly over the floral design before opening the pouch to find two capsules. She opened the first capsule to find it had a pile of metal and glass pieces that were from early prototypes of the dragon ball radar. She took a few minutes to look through the spare parts and pulled out a dragon radar that she knew was broken, but she could probably get it to work with minimal effort. It was always good to have a spare on hand.
Bulma opened the second capsule and found it was a big messy pile of clothes and shoe boxes. She rummaged around looking in the first shoebox to find a pair of turquois tennis shoes with velcro straps. She had adored these shoes, which were currently looking very well loved but still cute. Since Bulma was barefoot, she went to her dresser and picked out some white and pink-toed socks and put the shoes on. They were slightly snugger than she remembered. Perhaps her feet had grown? She next saw a pink cotton sleep shirt and smiled as she remembered wearing the soft shirt-dress during adventures with Goku. She thought to put it on as wel but briefly paused remembering how Roshi had seen her nether regions when wearing this dress in her attempt to get the dragon balls back. With that memory her stomach felt a little uneasy. However, Bulma lifted the blue dress she was wearing off her shoulders anyway and pulled the pink shirt-dress on, noting how it smelled clean since it had been washed before it was encapsulated, but also like the sweet scented perfume she wore as a young girl which made her feel nostalgic.
Bulma thought about Goku, her best friend, as a young boy and how he always innocently approached their relationship, and how he always showed great kindness and strength. Her heart ached thinking about the lovable rascal.
With a sigh, Bulma decided she had had enough going through old capsules for the afternoon and she quickly cleaned up the mess in the middle of the floor, stuffing all the clothes and boxes in a couple drawers that barely had room. With that she pulled her wavy blue locks up in a slightly messy bun and laid down on her bed, arms out like a starfish, staring at the ceiling. Peering out the window to the light fluffy clouds outside through the balcony, she laid there quiet as she tried to listen for any gravity room noises. She could hear the occasional metal banging sound coming from what she assumed was Vegeta training.
Vegeta, her intriguing Saiyan house guest who she had hardly seen since he had hurt himself a few weeks back in the gravity room explosion. She assumed he had been avoiding her after he yelled at her to leave him be after trying to force him to go back to bed rest. She had realized she wasn't going to get through to him so she reluctantly had let him be.
Bulma knew that her mother had made sure to make him large, Sayian sized meals in the afternoon when Bulma and her father were in their labs or the office working. Bulma had been especially busy with various projects and familiarizing herself with the GR and the fighting bot blueprints, thinking ahead to when Vegeta would inevitably break his gear, and they would need to rebuild it.
Suddenly thinking about the temperamental yet undoubtedly handsome Sayain Prince, Bulma decided that she should pay him a visit to discuss his living arrangements. She had been thinking that instead of him sleeping in the gravity room that Vegeta should take up a guest room in the house. She knew her parents wouldn't mind. In fact, they preferred to know where Vegeta was and what he was up to, they seemed to be just as intrigued about their alien guest as she was.
Bulma heard another especially loud metal bang and frowned a bit thinking that she should also check to see how Vegeta was fairing with the bots and gravity simulator equipment. Had he destroyed any of it by now?
Bulma decided today was the day to try to approach Vegeta after their previous arguments a few weeks back and she cheerily walked to her bathroom to make sure her hair was a little tidier and applied some light cherry colored lip gloss before walking out of her room and down the stairs. She made her way along the path and then across the grass that led to the gravity room.
As Bulma approached, she couldn't hear a sound and the gravity was not engaged so she assumed that meant it was a good time to speak to Vegeta. She walked up the steps and when she got to the top, she stopped for a few moments to take a deep breath and listen to what may be happening inside the door. When she heard nothing, she knocked a few times and then finally put in the door code.
The heavy door swung open, and Bulma stepped inside. Peering around she didn't immediately see Vegeta, but she looked to the corner of the room and saw several bots that were clearly out of commission. Bulma started to walk wearily towards the main consol to check to see if everything was working as it should. As her fingers put in the codes to check the system schematics, Bulma suddenly felt that she wasn't alone but before she could react, Vegeta made his presence know.
"Woman?" was all he said in a tone that was not angry but not at all friendly. Bulma jumped, whipping her head around followed by the rest of her person, causing her to fall back slightly on the consol before finding her bearings.
"Vegeta! Ah, you scared me! Where were you?...I can't take that type of sneak up on me attack!"
Vegeta stared at her blankly in the eyes before furrowing his eyebrows slightly. He then crossed his arms straightening his spine as he eyed her clothing and shoes. He noticed she was wearing a lot of pink, and he didn't understand why her clothing had caught his attention or how he could still make out some of her curves in the loose-fitting attire. Vegeta shook his head slightly in confusion and to break his thought pattern.
"Woman...I-"
"-Bulma?" She cut in.
"…I need that man. Your father to fix the bots and upgrade them so they don't fail so easily."
"Okay, I can take a look at them" Bulma matter of factly responded. Bulma was secretly pleased that Vegeta wasn't yelling at her for once.
"Hey Vegeta, I wanted to talk to you about something…."
There was an awkward pause before Vegeta impatiently asked, "well, what is it?"
"Well, I was thinking that you should stay in a guest room in the house... I think it would be better than here….or wherever you sleep when you go off training."
Bulma suddenly felt self-conscience for asking the Saiyan to stay in her house and she looked down at her shoes, feeling a little silly for wearing the bright colored footwear she wore as a teenager. She bit her bottom lip and furrowed her eyebrows a bit before looking back up at Vegeta who had been eyeing the blue haired women with narrowed eyes before he looked out towards the house through the open door. He seemed to be pondering the idea, cocking his head to one side. After a while, Bulma got up the nerve to say something...
"Well?" what do you think?"
"Fine" he said in a neutral tone.
"Okay, we will get it ready for you!" Bulma said in in a cheery tone, bringing hands that had nervously been fidgeting behind her back in front of her.
With that Vegeta walked over to the console towards Bulma, and she suddenly felt frozen as he approached. Vegeta stopped in front of her only a foot or two away and for a brief moment he seemed to critically scan over her features before pointing to the console. Bulma understood from the gesture that Vegeta was done with their conversation at that point and wanted her to get out so he could turn the gravity simulator back on and continue training. "Ha, okay!" she said in rather nervous high-pitched squeal like sound before moving to walk away.
"Oh--I will get the bots out of here later so I can work on them" she said twirling around again to face him. Vegeta let out a sigh at her awkward outburst but nodded his head in response and then proceeded to click a few buttons on the console, before regally turning to her, waiting for her to leave. "Okay, see ya!" with that, Bulma turned again before going down out the front door.
"Come by after your training and I will show you your room." She hollered before shutting the door behind her.
Vegeta sighed in frustration and wondered what he had gotten himself into by conversing with the annoying earthling woman who seemed overly friendly in addressing him when he knew she was usually much more feisty and at times vulgar. A room in the earthlings main dwelling? Vegeta was not sure he would go through with the idea, but he only cared about training and growing stronger. He didn't know even why he said yes, but he figured that his hosts had better accommodations that would serve him and his training during his stay...
