Cody woke up the following day, letting out a big yawn as he stretched. He went downstairs to make breakfast. Cody was wearing a black Godsmack T-shirt and some dark grey pajama shorts. Slade came down and was wearing just his red boxer shorts. He was strong and had noticeable muscles under his fur. His razor-sharp fangs showed when he yawned as he scratched his furry chest. Rachel wore a loose black Metallica T-shirt with one shoulder exposed and tiny grey pajama shorts. Loona was wearing just her black bra and panties under her open black and red bathrobe. She looked hot, almost like a Hellhound milf with her big boobs and her long legs. Cody mixed the batter needed for French toast.

"I got the coffee maker going, but I don't know how much cream and sugar you want in them," Cody said to the three Hellhounds.

"Thank you, sweetie," Loona said before kissing his face.

Rachel kissed his face next, "How did you sleep?"

"I slept okay. Although, I had a weird dream last night," Cody answered.

"A weird dream?" Slade asked.

"Yeah, it felt so surreal. I dreamt that I was standing in a field. A huge grassy meadow field with a lone oak tree in the center. It was huge – big tree. It's nighttime, and at first, I see what I think is a shooting star, but it's not. It's a magnificent and yet terrible meteor shower. There were hundreds of them . . . just falling out of the sky. Then I see a nuclear explosion, but I'm suddenly hurled by a great force that pulls me off the ground. Within seconds, I'm above the clouds and the sky. There's a light that gets brighter and brighter as I get closer to it. Then I wake up," Cody explained.

The three Hellhounds all looked slightly pensive as they listened to Cody's dream while preparing their coffee. Their eyebrows raised when he finished.

"I don't know what to make of it," Cody said.

"Well, a lot has happened lately. So, there's a lot on your mind, and when that happens, it can affect your dreams," Loona said.

"Perhaps . . . oh, that reminds me. I was going to make smoothies. Can one of you get the fruit out?" Cody asked.

"I got it," Rachel said.

Rachel pulled out the fruit and started chopping. Loona put down her coffee mug and went over to hug Cody close. Since her robe was open, she put it around Cody to have him inside as she hugged him. Cody blushed a smile as he hugged her back, having Loona's big furry breasts against his chest and her thighs rubbing against him. She was warm and smelled wonderful. After a long while, Cody tried to get out, but Loona wouldn't let him.

"Umm, Mom? Can you let go so I can make breakfast?" Cody asked.

"Nope," Loona said.

"No?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty comfortable like this. So, nope."

Cody maneuvered his way to turn himself around to face the stove. It was awkward, but he was able to cook the French toast, and Loona hugged him from behind. Rachel chopped up some pomegranate and bananas. She was making pomegranate, blueberry, and banana smoothies for everyone. Loona rubbed Cody's torso and gently glided her fingers over his chest and stomach. She also rubbed her furry cheek against Cody's face, which made him giggle and smile.

"Is it weird that I'm already used to Rachel and Slade living here? Like all of us living together as a family?" Cody asked while flipping the French toast.

Slade finished sipping his coffee, "Nah, I think it means you're highly adaptable."

"Also, you lived with a Hellhound since you were nine. So, you have already adjusted to living with Loona and in Hell. So, it's not surprising that Slade and I are living here, and it isn't hard for you to get used to it quickly," Rachel added while cutting the fruit.

"Is Slade, I mean Dad, living here?" Cody asked and then looked over his shoulder at him, "Is it too soon to call you Dad, or do you prefer Slade? Or does it not matter to you?"

"I'm fine with either one. I've noticed that sometimes you call Loona Mom, and sometimes you say her name. So, I'm good with either or both. Also, the answer to your question, I think so. I still have my apartment, and I think we'll keep that so we have more than one place," Slade answered.

"More than one place?"

"Yeah, like if we want to hang out in the city for a while, we could live there. Slade's apartment is closer to I.M.P. headquarters. So, it's a good idea to keep it," Rachel added.

Cody nodded, "Okay."

"What's the plan for today?" Slade asked.

Loona let go of Cody, "We're taking a tour of Cody's new school. I called Kim and asked her and her two friends, Ave and Phoenix, to give us a tour to see what Red Moon Junior High is like."

"That sounds good," Rachel agreed.

Loona put the fruit in the blender and pressed the button to blend it. Loona spoke loud enough for Cody to hear her as it made loud noises.

"Speaking of school, did you get your school supply shopping done?" Loona asked.

"Not yet," Cody answered.

Loona turned off the blender, "Okay. We'll get that done after the tour."

She poured everyone a large jug full of the delicious smoothie juice.

"Also, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, I want you two to have a day with Cody," Loona stated.

Cody, Slade, and Rachel looked up at Loona and spoke simultaneously, "What?"

"I want you guys to spend more time with Cody and be part of this family. So, tomorrow, Slade, you and Cody will spend the day together – just the two of you. Take Cody to the arcade, grab a bite to eat somewhere, and connect with him. Then the day after tomorrow, Rachel, you and Cody will have the day together," Loona explained as she helped Cody prepare the French on plates.

"Uh, Loona, hold up. What do you mean by connecting with him? Like, what do I do?" Slade asked.

"She means by connecting with Cody. Open up to him. Get to know him, really know him, and have him really get to know you. The real you. Talk about things that you wouldn't normally talk about with other people . . . which can make you feel uncomfortable because you're the kind of person who plays his cards close to his chest. However, part of opening to someone is talking about things about yourself that no one else knows about or very few people know about," Rachel explained.

"I mean," Cody spoke, getting their attention, "I am fighting in Hell's Civil War, so if there are things about when you served with JTF2, I can understand to some degree since I kind of am a soldier."

"Cody, you're not kind of a soldier. You are a soldier . . . and an orphan, which we all are. So, Slade, there isn't anything you can talk about that you should worry about because you know Cody won't judge or think differently of you. This isn't rocket science. You're bonding with our son. So, just open up to him and be a father to him. We'll take small steps at it," Loona stated.

Slade sighed heavily, "Okay. I'll do my best."

"And that's all I could ask for."

"Okay . . . I have a question, so again, forgive me if it's too soon to ask. After you and Dad get married . . . are you going to have, you know . . . cubs?" Cody asked.

The room fell quiet as the three Hellhounds exchanged looks. Cody instantly regretted his question.

Cody shut his eyes hard, "Never mind, I'm sorry."

"Cody, it's okay. It's okay," Loona assured, "As for your question . . . probably not."

Rachel spoke next, "Cody, Hellhounds are different than other people. Humans and certain demons like Imps and Succubus are likely only going to have just one baby. Maybe twins or even triplets. Take Celeste, for example. Whether it's a boy or a girl, it's safe to assume that she will have just one baby."

"But not Hellhounds?" Cody asked.

"No," Slade said, getting his attention, "Hellhounds are like dogs. They don't have one kid. They have a litter."

"How many?"

"Anywhere from 5 to 12. One Hellhound lady I knew had 15," Rachel said.

Cody's eyes widened, and his eyebrows rose as he turned to his mother.

"Yeah. So, as you can imagine, I'm not too wild about that. Plus, I already have a kid to worry about. I don't think I want ten more kids to worry about," Loona explained while stroking her fingers through Cody's hair.

Cody nodded, "I understand."

Both the smoothies and the French Toast were delicious.

Meanwhile

Two weeks had passed since Melman cleared the cave of all the Cave Dwellers. Since then, he has continued to progress in his training. He even achieved the ability to be in a half-werewolf state, which made him look like a Hellhound. Melman was mastering how to use magic like fire, ice, wind, earth, light, and darkness. You learn many things when in the spirit realm.

Melman and Winona returned to the village. However, natives from other cultures were interacting with the Indians. They looked like Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. It was strange to see them interact and live among Apaches, Comanche, and Mohawks. It wasn't just unicorns near the village; there were griffins. Melman followed Winona to her teepee, where Crystal and Serena were waiting.

Inside the teepee, Crystal and Serena took care of the place while also surviving like it was a camping trip. They prepared food and made some special elixirs and tonics to help werewolves keep themselves under control. As soon as they smelled Melman and saw him walk in, they rushed over to hug him—Melman hugged them back.

"Are you okay? Tell us you're okay," Serena said.

"I'm okay. Winona says I'm learning faster than she thought," Melman said.

"I gotta say, you're Hellhound stage is cuter than I thought it would be," Crystal said.

Melman blushed and smiled.

"How's he doing out there?" Serena asked.

"Better than I thought he would. His training might end sooner than most," Winona answered as she changed into her human form.

Crystal gave Melman an elixir, and he drank it. Although, he didn't like the taste, and Crystal held the bottom of the bottle to make sure he drank the whole thing.

He sniffed the air, "Something smells good."

"That's the stew cooking. Part of being a werewolf is you're going to have a big increase in appetite. So, that's why we're cooking with a big pot," Crystal said.

"Cool," Melman said, sniffing himself, "But that pot smells better than I do. I'm dirty."

"Hmm," Serena hummed.

She pulled Melman over to her, and then she started giving him a tongue bath. At first, Melman was confused, but the more Serena cleaned him, the more he just let her do her thing. Crystal went over and joined her in helping her clean Melman. Every now and then, they'd spat out some gunk. Melman felt like he was a puppy. He couldn't tell if that was a good thing or not.

Back in Hell

Cody was dressed casually in a black t-shirt underneath his black jeans jacket, a grey hoodie, and a red pentagram star on the back. He also wore his blue cargo jean pants and a pair of black and red sneakers. Loona dressed differently than her usual gothic attire. Instead, she wore a black open-shoulder sweater that really showed off her big boobs, a pair of grey mini-jean shorts, and black leggings with red 'X's on the sides.

"Loona, it's just a tour," Slade said.

"No, it's not. Kim said that some of the teachers will be there," Loona replied.

"Really?" Rachel asked.

"Yes. So, dress a little nicer. Just something that shows we're a responsible family for Cody," Loona answered, getting her satchel ready.

"Babe, are you sure you're not overthinking it?" Slade asked.

"Slade, it's different for me and Cody. We're both knights. Our names carry weight, especially his. So, we don't want to look sloppy. Just wear something a little nicer, please," Loona said.

Slade glanced at Rachel, and she shrugged.

"Okay," Slade agreed.

Slade wore a black army jacket and navy blue cargo pants. Rachel wore a red leather jacket and black jeans. Looking at them all like this really made them look like legit parents and family for Cody. He almost wished he was a Hellhound to fit the image better, but he knew that they'd love him no matter what he was.

Cody, Loona, Slade, and Rachel arrived at Red Moon Junior High School, where Kim, Phoenix, and Ave were waiting to give them a tour. The school was quite big, with multiple classroom buildings and more than one sports field, and the campus was neatly designed. The school had both a gothic and a Halloween-ish design, especially with the red, black, and orange colors.

Kim wrapped her arms around Cody as he hugged her back. The two planted a long and tender kiss on each other's lips. Cody and the others got a good look at the place.

"This place is bigger than I thought it'd be," Cody commented.

"That's because it's part of the high school built right next to it. So, it's not just middle school kids that come here," Kim said.

"Really?" Rachel asked.

"Oh yeah," Phoenix said as they walked around, "This place is kind of cool, and so are most of the students. However, there are some a-holes every now and then that need a good ass beating."

"Phoenix," Ave said firmly.

"What? It's true."

"Anyway," Kim interrupted to continue the tour, "This school has a lot and is a big fan of sports. We have baseball fields, basketball courts, football fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, and tracks for cross country. There are also greenhouses and gardens for growing plants and seeds for potions and elixir classes. What classes are you taking, babe?"

"Um, let's see," Cody said, pulling out his phone, "Mainly the basics like English, history, math, science, but also music, magic, and potions. So, I'll be busy."

"Wait, don't you already know magic and potions?" Loona asked.

"I do, but not the higher levels. That'll be later in the semester," Cody answered.

"Okay."

They explored more of the school, with the three girls telling them more about the place, school events, parties, contests, etc.

"Cody, you may be the Guardian of Hell, but you're still a rockstar. So, when it comes to concerts, everyone will want you and your band to play. Or at least have you in a solo act," Ave said.

"That's easier said than done. My mom's a knight, Vortex works for I.M.P., and Crymini works for Charlie protecting the hotel. She has her hands full with all the riots and looting," Cody said.

"Maybe you can join another band. No doubt, bands here will fight over you," Kim said.

"Oh yeah, everyone will want Cody," Phoenix said.

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, let's focus on Cody's education," Rachel reminded.

"I'm going to be busy when I come here. I know it," Cody said.

They continued the tour, and along the way, Cody spotted a familiar face: Mrs. Mayberry. She still looked pretty with her red eyes, purple skin, and horns. She wore a black skirt with satanic stars all over it and a deep red long-sleeve shirt. She was in a classroom organizing some papers at her desk.

"Mrs. Mayberry?" Cody spoke.

The demon teacher turned, and her eyes widened.

"Cody?" Mrs. Mayberry spoke as she stood up.

Both had joyful smiles as they went over to hug each other.

"Hey! What are you doing here?" Cody asked.

"I work here. What are you doing here?" Mrs. Mayberry questioned.

"He's enrolling here," Kim answered.

"No way! Really?"

Mrs. Mayberry looked on her computer and saw that Cody was indeed in school and in her English class. They talked for hours. She told them how life was for her, and they told her theirs. She wasn't too wild about Cody going to war but excited to have him in her class.

"Is the school really okay with coming here?" Cody asked.

"The principal expressed concern, but the school is getting a lot of security: armed guards, metal detectors, thorough background checks, the whole shebang. Plus, many of the staff and guards feel good about you coming here. The chief of security pointed out that if a threat is beyond their control comes their way, Cody can handle it," Mrs. Mayberry explained.

"Really?" Slade asked.

"What, like they'll deputize him?" Loona questioned.

The demon teacher nodded.

"Can they do that?" Rachel asked.

"Yes. So, Cody, there may be some papers for you to sign when you come to school," Mrs. Mayberry said.

Cody nodded, "Okay."

As they left to explore more of the school, the demon teacher called out.

"Hey! Just because we're friends doesn't mean I'll go easy on you or give you special treatment. I expect you to work hard and achieve like the rest of my students," Mrs. Mayberry stated.

"Yes, ma'am," Cody said respectfully.

"Good boy."

When they were back outside, Phoenix pulled out what looked like a vape pen with bright blue liquid inside with small ice cubes. She inhaled it and exhaled a cloud of white vape cloud.

"Oh, you vape, Phoenix?" Cody asked.

"This isn't vape," Phoenix answered.

This caught the adults' attention.

"It's not?" Slade asked.

"Then what is it?" Loona questioned as she adjusted her back strap.

"It's MIST," Phoenix said.

"MIST?" Rachel asked, looking at the pen.

"Yeah, it works like vape, except it has no nicotine or harmful chemicals. It's a potion liquid that actually cleans the inside of your lungs and mouth. So, it's actually good for good, unlike smoking and vaping, which's bad for you," Ave explained.

Cody, Rachel, and his parents' eyes widened at that.

"Really? It's good for you?" Slade asked.

"Yeah, we all use MIST. Some articles explain that it helps prolong the health of your lungs and helps bring more oxygen to your blood. Wanna try it?" Kim asked.

Cody looked at her pen and then turned to his parents. Loona glanced back and forth between him and the pen.

"Hang on," Loona said before grabbing the pen.

She sniffed it a few times while examining it. Then she wiped the mouthpiece, inhaled it, and exhaled it.

"Hmm, feels okay to me. It has a real minty flavor," Loona said.

Slade took it, wiped the mouthpiece, and tried it, too, "I think so, too."

"So, it's safe for me to use?" Cody asked.

The Hellhound adults looked at each other. Slade and Rachel shrugged. Loona looked at Cody before giving it to him. Cody was nervous as he tried it. He wiped the mouthpiece, inhaled it, and exhaled a white cloud. To his surprise, it wasn't half bad – decent flavor. He was glad he didn't cough.

"That's not half bad," Cody said.

"Yeah?" Loona asked.

"You're right about the minty flavor."

"If they're healthy for the lungs, then we should all have MIST pens. Where can we get some?" Rachel asked.

"I know a place. I can take you there," Kim said.

Meanwhile

Mikey and John explored the hotel together, visiting parts that they'd never been to or seen before. The hotel was like a maze, and one could easily get lost. They chatted as they walked.

"Did you know this place was this big?" Mikey asked.

John shook his head, "No way. There are so many rooms. I hope one day, it'll be filled with more sinners wanting to achieve redemption."

"I'm still trying to figure out how this world works. For sinner demons, do they know what they did to end up here, or is it like Cody said where Heaven is corrupt and not letting a whole of people in, and they end up here? I'm not trying to make you feel uncomfortable. I'm just trying to understand," Mikey explained.

John shrugged, "I honestly don't know what I did to end up here. I know how I died, but I don't know what offense or sin I did to end up here. The best that I can think of is I didn't go to church or whatever, but that doesn't sound like something that would earn me a spot here in Hell. I mean, this place is supposed to be where bad people go, and I didn't hurt anybody or kill anyone. You know what I mean?"

Mikey nodded, "Yeah, I hear ya. Oh, look. There's an indoor swimming pool."

John looked where he was pointing, and they saw, through the windows, a big indoor pool. John had mixed feelings as he looked at it. While it looked cool with clean water, it somehow reminded him of when he drowned in the lake after he found out about the drug operation at the summer camp.

"Oh, cool," John said.

They found a door that led to the back garden. It wasn't that large but had some lovely and scary-looking plants and flowers. However, some of them looked like they were wilting.

Mikey bent down, "These plants are thirsty."

John looked over and saw an outdoor faucet with watering cans. He filled two of them up, then gave one to Mikey, and they walked around watering the plants.

"Some of these plants need work. That could be something for us to do around here," Mikey said.

John nodded, "I agree."

Mikey heard a rustling in the bushes as he was watering the plants. He looked and saw only a moment someone dashed into some other bushes. Mikey went over to check it out, but when he searched by the walls near the greenhouse, he saw what looked like a little girl. Mikey followed her inside the greenhouse and saw another person.

The girl was around Mikey's age, eleven or twelve, with long dark grey hair tied in two ponytails. She had pale skin and purple eyes that matched her dress, and she was a bat demon with bat wings on her back and cute ears sticking out of her head. The other person was a male bat demon around John's age, early 20s, with black hair, blue eyes, and blue highlights. He had bat wings and ears like the girl. He wore black jean pants, a white t-shirt with a grey skull, and a brown blazer jacket. He had a spiked collar and bracelets. They looked related, like brother and sister.

The brother looked hurt as he was bleeding from his knee, side, and arm. The sister had a small first aid kit box and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide.

"Sophie," the brother spoke.

"Um, Blitz, this is all I could find. I kept out of sight like you said, but this is all I could find," Sophie said.

"No, it's okay. You did good, Sophie. Thank you," Blitz said.

"Mikey! Where are you?" John called.

The bat demons turned, wide-eyed and fearful, to see Mikey at the greenhouse's doorway. John showed up, and his eyes widened as well, or more accurately, his eye because his hair covered one.

Mikey held up his hands, "Whoa! Whoa, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you."

It was quiet for a while, and then Mikey spoke again.

"Those wounds look serious. We can help you with that. In fact, there's lots of room to spare here at Charlie's hotel. I'm sure she'd let you have any of them," Mikey said.

Blitz tried to speak, "Look, we're—"

"Do you have food?" Sophie asked with hopeful eyes.

"Yeah, we got food. Lots of it, and you're more than welcome to have some. So, please, let us help you. I'm John, and this is Mikey," John said, offering his hand.

Blitz glanced at his younger bat sister, and she nodded with a slight smile. Looking back at John, he took his hand, "Blitz McNight, and this is my sister, Sophie."

They helped bring Blitz in. Charlie and Vaggie were surprised at first but calmed down after Mikey explained. Eddy and Sonja treated Blitz's injuries, and he explained their situation.

"Our parents were killed by one of the militia of the VVV, and the fighting destroyed our neighborhood. We've been surviving on the streets ever since," Blitz said as Eddy and Sonja stitched and bandaged his arm, side, and leg.

"Oh my gosh, you poor things! And how did all this happen?" Mimzy asked.

"Survival can bring out the worst in people. When resources are limited, and there are too many mouths . . . that's when you see what people are really capable of."

Everyone's eyes widened, and Sophie looked away while trying not to cry.

"Well, you guys are safe now. Right, Charlie?" Mikey asked.

"Of course! This place is a sanctuary. We have rooms to spare. You and your sister can stay here," Charlie said with open arms and a kind smile.

"Mikey, how about you show Sophie your favorite show, Alan Quasar & Rigel Rocket, while we cook her something to eat?" Vaggie suggested.

Sophie tilted her head with a raised eyebrow, "Alan Quasar & Rigel Rocket?"

"Yeah! It's the coolest cartoon show ever! Let me show you," Mikey said.

Sophie's eyes sparkled with a smile, and she turned to her brother, "Can I Blitz? Please?"

She gave him big puppy-dog eyes. Her brother rolled her eyes and sighed, "Alright, but no funny business."

They both cheered. Mikey took Sophie's hand and ran toward his room, where his TV was. As Mikey led Sophie through the hotel, she gazed at him. She couldn't help but smile and blush.

'Mikey's really cute. Oh my gosh! Do I like him?' Sophie thought to herself.
