Past.
'Are you listening?'
He looked up only to lock eyes with Wolf, for once the older male was looking at him as were the two other males, one of them almost as scarred as his sire.
'Yes, n'yaka-de.' Master. He hated calling his sire that but at the moment, as the youngest in the room, he had to address the half blind bastard as his better.
'I chose you because you have great experience with the serpents, for your age,' Wolf added gruffly and the two other males chuffed at the indication and Mlevi growled deep in his chest his fists clenching. 'Tuukkade and Zlrek will accompany you to this hive, on this Hunt I expect nothing but the most precise of actions.'
'And you, n'yaka-de?' Zlrek asked, chittering his tusks as he crossed his arms over his olive green chest.
'I will be joining you. I chose you three because you have the best chance of succeeding in this cleanse.' The other two males seemed excited as pups to have such a renowned warrior joining on a Hunt but Mlevi remained silent as he reached out, sipping his cn'lip and draining it. This was going to be a different experience, normally he hunted alone and he had many serpent trophies but this would be his first time vying for a queen. And no doubt her royal entourage.
He knew his two hunt brothers would have spoken about him in private, about his affairs and lack of interest in reproducing with the viable, fertile females of their kind. Many were interested in him but he showed no real zeal in reproducing. At least that they knew of.
It was only a few cycles later that the three younger males were joined on the small moon that had become infected with serpents. It was less of a cleanse and more of a game of who could kill more and who finally got the fat, stuck in queen who had been reproducing there for far too long. Once an operating pyramid to train unblooded it had become overrun and was now in ruins.
It took them many hours to make their way through the ruins and it was Tuukkade who found the first drone. All sleeping and once awoken their shrill cries would only draw more. It was quite a mess indeed as they chose a position and began to cut their way through the many drones. Such creatures were no match for four trained yautja warriors but mistakes happened. Paya did not always smile on her warriors and when the chance happened, it hit hard.
An ambush was expected and Wolf fell behind with Tuukkade in a corridor and the firing of a plasma caster sealed off the passageway between them. The squealing of the serpents could be heard and Mlevi pushed on, urging Zlrek to move on despite their mentor and hunt brother being separated possibly to their doom. They had to plant the explosive device that would wipe out the area, cleanse it of the serpents. Diving deeper and deeper into the ruins, the heart of it was the queen squatting on her eggs like a monstrous monarch.
'Come, you squamous bitch, let us meet your end!' Mlevi roared as he swung his sword and began to fire at the many eggs, blowing them up to force her to leave her throne. And she did with a snarl and a scream of agony ripping herself away from her egg sac. With Zlrek providing cover fire for he had been injured on his left forearm, a deep slice that might require amputation. It was difficult to fight something that was the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex and twice as cruel but Mlevi was intent on cutting her head off. With the parasitic offspring kept off him he swung again and again her blood spraying against his armor that held only just.
Die, you fucking cunt. Die already.
His thoughts scorched as he roared his joy, cutting off her head and it fell to the ground with a thunderous thud. Just as another plasma caster, a pair, began striking the eggs and left over drones. Much to his disappointment his father stood there, whip in hand and Tuukkades mask in his other hand. That was a pity. He would have to take a trophy as he knelt and cut off the end of her tail. Standing he attached it to his belt and made his way over to Wolf who was setting up the device. It was remotely activated so they had time to take their leave.
'Tuukkade?' He asked and Zlrek looked down as Wolf stood up.
'No. He fought honorably.' Handing the helm to the fallen yautjas brother Wolf looked sideways at Mlevi as he spoke. 'That tunnel collapse was a surprise.'
'Yes it was.' Brushing past his father he began to make his way through the maze that would lead back to the surface.
Pity it was.
As they approached the surface, fresh with scars and experience, the drop ship was there within seconds to take them to Wolfs ship. Zlrek was quiet and his mourning was held in high spirits as his brother had died doing what they all dared to do. Hunt. Standing at the window looking over the moon the explosion was beautiful in Mlevi's eyes as he instantly straightened when Wolf entered, turning and dipping his head in a show of respect.
'This…' The scarred male presented a whip from his own collection, strong enough to slice a serpent or a yautja in half if it wished. '...is for you. May all your hunts be as successful.'
Dipping his head lower he purred softly as he took the whip and he ran his hands over its jagged, insidious surface. 'Thank you, n'yaka-de.'
And that was the last time he would to call anyone master.
